Reason why you will never be a successful politician in Lagos is because you lack qualities of a true Omoluabi.
You are disrespectful, you are not humble to ready established institutions and you believe without the Yorubas, you can be governor.
You better go back to architecture. Since you don't want to climb the ladder, those that are climbing will cling what you want before you and you'll end up like Bode George.

In that case, why not advocate for the division of Nigeria, huh? Why should Nigerians living elsewhere be deprived of voting, especially where they pay taxes?

As for the red aspect, none of the contestants in the Lagos election is Igbo. Is there any who is Igbo?
I am not advocating for the bolded, but if it happens Yorubas will not send their children to die in a war to stop Biafra.
On your last line, why were Igbos trying to aggressively support a candidate the Yorubas were not in support of? Look, knowing when to be neutral is wisdom in life. If you invite Togolese migrants into your compound, and on a family issue the Togolese people start supporting your brother against you. How will you feel? Be neutral.
No one is stopping you from voting but the way you all were massively in support of an inexperienced candidate because he spoke in your interest is irritating. One Nigeria is based on regional societies, even if it's going to change not in one day.

Yorubas don't even understand that our leaders aren't doing enough to support us. Go to the north, the leaders give their people jobs, scholarships, e.t.c

Here we just elect people because he is our tribe and they don't deliver good dividends of democracy to us, maybe we like suffering. At the end of the day the igbo generally are better of, they even support themselves better than we yoruba do.

I'm sure if someone like me went out they'll say I'm not yoruba because I don't look it.
The sooner Yorubas start helping themselves the better.
PoliticsRe: Message To Igbo People In Lagos. by kingthreat(m): 6:43am On Mar 19, 2023
elefind:
MESSAGE TO IGBO PEOPLE IN LAGOS.

One of the few lessons I learnt from today's gubernatorial election in Lagos, is that I have no reason to engage in local politics among the indigenous people of Lagos. I think this should be my last time to campaign for any governorship candidate in Lagos. I will urge all Igbo people resident in Lagos to withdraw from supporting or voting for any gubernatorial candidate of any party during gubernatorial elections in Lagos. We need to give the Yoruba people chance to select or elect whoever they like to govern them. We will support whoever they elected as their governor. Tribalism and ethnic sentiments are real in Nigeria.

If we want to campaign for a gubernatorial candidate, lets campaign for any candidate of our choice contesting for elective position in our various states of origin even though we lives in Lagos. This is not only applicable to Lagos but all the Yoruba and non Igbo states. Remember that we Igbo people has ability to relate with anybody even if they elected king Nebuchadnezzar, it is not our business but we will relate with the governor and still get what we wanted.

We might be tempted to support a particular candidate we felt is better than whom the indigenous Yoruba people felt is their choice. But we must resist every attempt to endorse anyone of them. It is time we start to disassociate ourselves from any Yoruba politician hoping to win an election with the block votes of Igbo people living in Lagos. Enough of this please. Let him go and convince his fellow Yoruba people to vote for him and stop hoping to win election with our votes. The Yoruba people must stop seeing every election in Lagos as contest between the Igbo people and the Yorubas.

It is also high time Igbo people begin to transfer their polling units to Southeast for those of us living outside Igboland but would like to participate in governorship election of our state. We will travel down to Southeast when it is time to elect president and the governors. But if we can't transfer our polling units to SOUTHEAST, let's stop voting during gubernatorial election in each state of the federation. But we can go out and vote for our favorite presidential candidate.

It is obvious that many Yoruba people that supported Peter Obi during presidential election did so because of fear of Tinubu's Muslim/Muslim ticket. They voted Peter Obi not because they like him, it is because he is more preferred than having Tinubu and Shettima in Aso Rock . If another popular Southwestern politician was contesting for presidency with Muslim/Christian ticket, they would have voted him than voting Peter Obi. Only few Yorubas are supporting Peter Obi based on his capacity and competence.

Today's gubernatorial election was a total waste of taxpayers money. This is not an election. Now I agree that NIGERIA is a failed state. Police couldn't even protect the themselves not to talk of protecting the voters .

As for me, let Peter Obi withdraw his court case against INEC and APC . Let him concentrate on snatching all Southeastern states from our good-for-nothing politicians and raise a crop of 21st century politicians that will govern all the states in Igbo land and turn them into livable and prosperous states.

Many Nigerians are not ready for real change. They wanted to change failures we have in Aso Rock as leaders but they never wanted to change same corrupt politicians operating in their states.

Copied
This is pure wisdom. But Igbos in Lagos believe that Lagos is 100% their right.
The way they voted for GRV means the hatred against the current host government is real

The people who helped me most in life are Yoruba people! But I am Igbo. They made me believe in Nigeria that works on competence and character.

APC just decided to tarnish the image of Yorubas on the alter of politics!

I have been trying all day to convince my son that Yorubas don’t hate Igbos…. that it’s just politics! The boy won’t take it. APC has sewn hatred in his heart against the Yorubas.
It is you who is sewing hatred in his heart against Yorubas.
APC politics has never been hateful. If it was, never the ones by APC in the SouthWest.
You should blame Peter Obi, who incited a political movement that made your people want to become the force that will unseat a ruling party from its major stronghold. Now the Yorubas know that the Igbos in Lagos want to determine the political structure of their state and they feel threatened. They will do anything to protect their own.
Please tell the Igbos in Kaduna to try and determine the political structure of that state. Aboki no dey think twice when e come to that matter. Na wotowoto straight.

Stop Investing massively in Lagos. You can see why from today's elections.

Take your investments home, people will always come there to patronize you.

Lagos is now hostile to you guys, the evidence is bold and glaring for everyone to see. The earlier you start thinking home, the better.

Your investment will always be save at home. Stop buying multimillion naira properties in Lagos. Make your money there, rent apartment or build something small, then move them to the east in droves. Don't be stupid, be wise.

Cheers guys
The only reason Yorubas are being hostile is because Igbos intentionally want to determine the politics of Lagos.
Do your business. Run your enterprise, live and enjoy the government benefits. Stop trying to change the politics of a region to indirectly control the state.
If it was that Igbos are split between APC and other parties, the better. But 97% of Igbos hate APC leaders and Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And believe that it is their right as Lagosians to remove his powerhold in Lagos.
If Tinubu's power in Lagos will wane, let it not be from non-Yorubas. Let it be determined by Yorubas. The Igbos overstepping the boundaries in the SW is exactly what they were doing in the North that led to the pogrom killings. How dare you kill the Sardauna of Sokoto?
They will never learn.

Returnee FORMER slaves of Yoruba descent OR returnee formerly enslaved Yorubas is a better way to put it. Many were happy to see their missing relatives again.

Ajayi Crowther who is from Osogun in Iseyin area of Oyo State but was buried in the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos Island in the late 1890s, miraculously found his biological mother in her Yoruba hometown of Ketu in Benin Republic, but never saw his father and younger sister again since the day the Muslim slave traders invaded Osogun and took them all into captivity.

Many Yorubas of Nigeria and Benin Republic lost family members in the late 1700s but majorly in the 1800s due to the slave ship deportations to Cuba, Brazil, USA, Trinidad, British Guiana now Guyana, Venezuela, Jamaica, Sierra Leone, etc.

The major victims of the deportations on slave ships from
Yorubaland were the Oyos, Egbas, Ijesas, Ekitis, Ijebus, Bantes, Anagos, Ketus, with the last 3 being from Yoruba-speaking Benin Republic.

Some like Ajayi Crowther, Shitta Bey, and the first Nigerian pound sterling millionaire and financier, Candido da Rocha (who was born to an Ijesa father in Bahia, Brazil), returned to Nigeria and settled on Lagos Island in the 1800s after being freed OR their parents freed, and some did not return. Those who did not return to Yorubaland and their descendants have kept the Yoruba culture and religion alive in Cuba, Brazil, Trinidad, etc, till today.

May the memories of the ancestors never be forgotten.
Thank you for enlightening

Someone join me in saying...God bless Ambode. He's the only one who remembered us at Alimosho. Alimosho is now a modern city to behold, with huge estate developments going on. Massive modern buildings, made possible by Ambode's massive road projects.

We don't know sanwoolu here and I dare anyone to point to one single project which sanwoolu has done here in 4 years. O kan wa sanwo eko ni. I came home last night so I'd vote today. I took the below pictures as I was taking a walk to my PU this morning. You can only see such in Lekki and Ajah axis. On GRV we stand today and if he messes up, na just 4 years he go do. Alimosho has the largest population in the state to decide the winner in every election.
I love this your writeup. As Sanwo-Olu didn't deliver in Alimosho, he doesn't deserve the votes of residers there.
But if you're voting out Sanwo-Olu because Tinubu is his godfather that is very myopic.
I will vote Sanwo-Olu because last year I was in gidi, I could see impacts of good leadership especially on Lagos Mainland and the Island.
However, it is about the best for Lagos state.
