you answered nothing. including others in your struggle without their consent is bad. you said we should speak for our individual ethnic groups. its simple, do the same. leave others out of your struggle. if there's a referendum, they can decide.
Well, it may surprise you to know that Biafra has never been an 'Igbo only thing'. Some people want it to be, but it is not. There are many minorities in the South of Nigeria who are just as tired of Nigeria as we Igbos. There are some of them who if faced with a choice of Nigeria and Biafra, will rather go with Biafra as the lesser of two evils. Niger-Delta isn't a tribe, South-South is not a tribe, Delta state or Rivers state are not tribes. An Efik man or Ibibio man has a stronger connection with Igbos than they do with an Urohbo or Itshekiri man. The map above is the map of the lower a Nigeria and area mapped out for referendum. When the time comes, just tell your people not to participate in the referendum or to vote against it so they can stay in it. Whatever tribe you come from will not make or break Biafra. But to say that your own tribe should not be given a 'voice' to air their view would sound very silly.

Shame on any Igbo posting in this thread. You make our people look like fools by posting on such nonsense.
You are right about Igbo Igbos commenting on stupid thread like these. Someone opens a thread about things that happened 50 years ago because they have the benefit of hindsight but the same person doesn't know anything about the challenges of the time. The only reason I sometimes comment on threads like this if for the benefit of those who are open minded and really want to know what really happend back then and to correct any misconception

Thatdave:
Ojukwu is a great man,

But let us remember that he took so many bad decisions during the war:

1. He let them kill Nzogwu the Great! People rumoured that he was afraid Nzeogwu will challenge his authority after the war. Nzeogwu was the man who was determined to wipe Nigeria clean of all the crooked politicians and soldiers as Ghana later did. It was said that he let the soldiers withdraw too soon so that Nzeogwu got trapped at the war front with little troops.

2. He Refused to Quit the war after the first year on seeing that we cant win.

3. He dethroned his generals (because they tried to advise him) and made civilians his war generals! eg. Colonel Achuzia was never a soldier for one day!

4. When the war became so bitter and the Biafran weapons got finished

He would load hundreds of young men into trailers and arm them with clubs and matchettes and dump them at the war front telling them that 'hausas' are fools. 'Kill them all' . The nigerian war tank will just lower its 50s and open fire on 'unarmed' biafran soldiers in the war front!

5. He doesn't plan battles, he just fights with emotion. Everyone who tried to advise him got deposed and thrown into jail. A biafran high ranking officer once narrated in his book that he drove from Enugu to the war front at abakaliki only to discover that Biafran soldiers who were droped by Ojukwu and were facing the Nigerian superior military might punishment didnt even dig trenches. So he ordered them to start digging trenches right at the battle field! This he said prevented the Nigerian tanks from over running the Biafrans on the very first day of battle!

6. He should have more intelligently accepted a truce a year or two before the end of the war when men like Zik, Akanu Ibiam etc advised him it was impossible to win the war.

7. When men finished, he started 'arming' children and using them as his soldiers for battle!

8. Biafran medics never had stretchers from day one, they were called porters because they were often made up of four men who would carry the wounded on their head and run to the rear of the battle field. This was to get worse in the third year of the war as Biafran soldiers left their wounded and fled battle fields!

9. He didnt plan the preparation of the war! He just started fighting with the available resources. He should have got big countries like America and Britain to support Biafra(atleast in exchange of some oil). Gowon for instance agreed with Cameroun not to let Biafrans get weapon supplies from the camerounian border in exchange for the Bakassi peninsula. This alone made the Biafran resistance very miserable.

But above all, he didnt cause the war. He fought for us all. He fought with his resources. He survived. He came back and contested for presidency! Built APGA and gave the Igbos another chance in Politics!

Adieu Ikemba!

. . . more herre http://dwitch.com/dwitches/view/115/the_un_for_givable.html
Few things you should know

1] Ojukwu never started any war, he may have declared Biafra but he did not starting shooting anyone. It was Gowon who declared war and came diwn to the east to fight.

2] Many people ask why Ojukwu declared Biafra if he was not military prepared. Well, Ojukwu had no choice. Ojukwu and Gowon signed an agreement with Gowon in Aburi Ghana to keep Nigeria one, Gowon broke the agreement and Ojukwu declared Biafra. No sentiments there. Anyone who wants blame Ojukwu for declaring Biafra should first blame Gowon for breaking the Aburi agreement.

3] People say Ojukwu did not plan well. This people make me laugh. Do they think that Ojukwu had all the time in the world for careful planning? If someone comes to up to you and slaps you, do first go to your house to 'plan' or do you defend your self immidiately?

4] My father was a Captain in the Biafra Army. He told me the reason why Biafra lost. Biafra did not lose because of any blunders by Ojukwu, no one is perfect, the reason why Biafra lost was because Ojukwu could not ship in Guns, arms and ammunition, food and other essential supplies as much as he wanted due the blockade enforced by British warships. Ojukwu did manage to fly in weapons but it could not be enough by air and it was far more expensive to bring in weapons this way. Had Britain stayed neutral and Ojukwu had the opportunity to bring in war fighting equipment the way he had wanted, Gowon would have kept fighting a fruitless war until Nigeria ran out of money and gave up. It was British Warships that won the war for Nigeria

only on one basis shall we support biafra agitation. if the the capital of the new biafra is sited in akwa-ibom or cross-river then the possibility of achieving biafra is 85% done. we have the capacity to produce resources to build a biafra that will stand dubai and asian tigers. we have the resources to place the new biafra on the world map to sit side by side with the 8 most industrialized developed countries of the world. we have done it in akwa-ibom with our resources and we shall replicate it in the larger biafra territory. uyo shall be the capital of the new biafra republic.

PoliticsRe: Oil In The North And The Implications For Nigeria by kingzizzy:
EUROBOMBER:
The reason why the north fought to keep Nigeria one was because of crude oil. The Nigerian civil war was actually fought for the control of oil as Nigeria could not afford to allow the Igbos 'run away with their food.'

I read a thread yesterday where Kachikwu said that they are at the verge of discovering crude oil in the chad basin.

If the north discovers oil in commercial quantity then the end of Nigeria might be in sight. This is because the north will not bother to fight the Igbos again for crude oil as they would see that as unnecessary.

I even believe that if the north discovers enough crude oil in their region, you will hear them shouting 'Arewa Republic!' I personally believe that if the oil had been in the north all these years like the Niger Delta have suffered, they would driven southerners away as infidels and not wanted.

Just my thoughts I am sharing here.
Even if they find Oil in the Chad basing, it may be a dead venture on arrival. In other to extract oil in commercial quantity, you need to bring the big players in the Oil sector like BP, Shell, Chevron etc. They are the ones with the technical know how, big equipment and personell needed to get that Oil out. This Chad basing is a hotbed of sectarian violence and Boko Haram. There is no international investor who will want to step foot there.

PoliticsRe: 5 Reasons Why IPOB Youths Should Stop Protest by kingzizzy: 9:10am On Nov 09, 2015
phrankchek:
I'm from abia state, born and brought up in ABA. and i believe that in any chaotic atmosphere it is proper for a man to retreat and put brains ahead of balls. the events i witnessed in my state between 2014 and 2015 makes me to really shake my head when i see the kind off behavior some igbo youths exhibit in face of situations that require thorough articulation. nevertheless there is a new brewing issue in this part of the country "the biafra emancipation". i don't know if these protesters have considered certain factors before joining the band-wagon anyways i think if they reason the following they MIGHT have a rethink.

1. the igbos are divided among themselves: yes they are! in a kindred if someone is really progressing the kinsmen starts to get jealous it is pure igbo thing and that is one thing that brings enmity among them. in the political scene igbos don't go with one voice because they want to compete among themselves at the end no one outshines the other. if para venture one gets to the top he forgets the other. example in the first republic two igbo men were president and senate presidents - Nnamdi Azikiwe and Nwafor Oritzu respectively in the second Dr Alex Ekwueme was Vice president from 1999-2007 we all know how many igbo men were senate presidents in the fourth republic and how they helped "improve the region" with their positions. recently in my state. prior to the last governorship election two igbo men (brothers) divided the state into two lives were lost, people were threatened and intimated one wont bow for the other to go through if they have had the interest of the common man at heart. so now tell me how do you think a man from Nsukka will feel if an Ngwa man is a president (in biafra)?? obviously he will still come up with the argument "he is favoring the ngwa people and neglecting nsukka people.

2. no igbo elite or technocrat has voiced support for the IPOB movement: notable igbo elites like the ubas....nnamanis...ezeifes...ekwumes...etc have kept mum on the whole issue that have not even ringed any bell in the protesters eye, because these men know what to do with their time and resources. while young and vibrant though poor and ill-educated are brainwashed to join the course. if they are in unionism at least igbo lawmakers at the national assembly and other top and influential igbos would have devised their own means of protest.

3. CALLING NIGERIA A ZOO AND YOU ARE INSIDE IT! i think this nnamdi kanu guy has a strong hold on these people's brain he was in London through his radio started calling Nigeria a zoo and some certain people he called monkeys and baboons and funny enough the igbos are scattered all over the country are doing business with monkeys and baboons, the groundnut, sugar, millet, wheat onions etc... that you eat you bought them from baboons and monkeys and wait the monkeys and baboons as they said have been ruling Nigeria since independence?? so who are the real animals now in a zoo?. because me i have not seen a zoo were animals rule over human beings and the human beings are begging the animals to grant them them freedom. like seriouslyhuh

4. using abusive and hate speeches on certain religious group: i understand that the man told them that biafra is not or rather igbos are Jews and as such they shouldn't be Christians rather they should embrace the Jewish religion i guess he achieved these by criticizing certain Christians denominations and their doctrines....so how will they get the religious or spiritual support??

5. failure to perceive reality....their then vice president already declared that "the republic of biafra henceforth ceases to exist" back in 1970 and "we are part of the one indivisible country - nigeria" at least that's one accord that have made the FG and the international community as some group of people that are misguided. again of all the south east states that enjoy the 13% derivation as oil producing state, how many have shown any reasonable or tangible legacy achieved with the incentive?? and i believe is wrong for one to say igbos/biafrans are marginalized in this country, very wrong since the end of the civil war till date which position have the biafrans not enjoined? if the south south is part of biafra then is clear that the previous president is a biafran!. hence what question being raised by the biafran movement movement haven't received a soothing answer yet?

the igbos are their own problem, if nigeria has a really bad economy that nothing can work why then has the likes of orji uzor, ifeanyi uba, cosmas maduka, tony elumelu, arthur eze, uche ogar and co who are pure igbo men thrived in that economy? that you have not made it in life is not a reason for you to blame a country those that are making it did they agitate for biafra before they became what they are today!
men lets drop the placards and face reality....don't forget brains before balls....i am chekwas and i just want to make common sense.
1] Yes Igbos are divided, but is every ethnic group in Nigeria. I'm sure that even in your own family, there is some sort of division. There is no such thing 100% unity any where in the world. One of biggest causes of Igbo division is Nigeria its self.

2]Of course the technocrats, businessmen, politicians and so on won't come out publicly to identify with Biafra. Some of them are the ones benefiting from the rot called Nigeria. You expect an politician with his eyes on money and power to support Biafra? Another thing is that that those of the elite who secretly support Biafra cannot come out to publicly do so because of fear of persecution. Nigeria is an oppressive state and identifying with Biafra can bring disastrous consequencies. Biafra is not an elitist movement.

3]Calling Nigeria a zoo is an figurative expression of thought. Evey Nigerian has called Nigeria much worse names than this when things are bad. The fact that Igbos are scattered about everywhere does not mean they necessarily be in the same country with those people. I have done business with a Chinese man, I have done business with an Indian man. But I do not want to be a Chinese or Indian citizen. I don't see why I have to be a Nigerian citizen to do something mutually beneficial with a Yoruba and Hausa man.

4] You may not believe it but hate speech is not a crime. Nobody gets charged to court for making hate speech. The constitution allows us all freedom of speech, wether it be hate or not.

5]The only reality on the ground is that it is not for Lord Lugard to come from Britain to make the Igbo man a "Nigerian". It is the God given right of us Igbos to decide who we are. Wether Biafran or Nigerian.I do not believe that the Igbo man is better of in Nigeria than Biafra. The Igbo man gains nothing from Nigeria. Nigeria is a forced marriage and we Biafrans want to get out of it.

you see why I said you still don't have sense? So Ojukwu didn't start the war? What was he expecting when he single-handedly divide a country? He expected to be left alone abi? And the Nigerian government should applaud him for a job well done? Come on! Think about it. This Biafra thing is annoying. Who's disturbing the ibo people here in Nigeria? That's why I said only the masses will be clamoring for this trash,a rich man making his billions in Lagos, ibadan or abuja will never pray for Nigeria to divide. Get sense.
And that's why I told you to go and read Nigerian history well. Yes, Ojukwu expected to be left alone! Same way a man who divorces his wife expects to be left alone.Do you think one man can divide Nigeria? Do you think that Nigeria at the time was a 'Rosy' place and Ojukwu came out of nowhere and declared Biafra? Things were very bad at the time and the Eastern Nigerian consultative assembly representing the indigenous people of Eastern Nigeria mandated Ojukwu to negotiate a confederation for them. Which was what Ojukwu did with Gowon in Ghana and both men signed the agreement to keep Nigeria one. When Gowon broke the agreement, the same assembly mandated Ojukwu to declare Biafra.

People own the land, the land never owns the people. The same indigenous people that make up the old eastern region owned their lands long before Lugard came to create Nigeria 'by force' and if those people say they don't want their lands in Nigeria any more, who is Nigeria to say no? Who was Lugard to come all the way from Europe to make you and I Nigerians? Ojukwu was justified in declaring Biafra because that's what his people wanted. Nigeria can never be as important as the various people who make it up and if any of those people choose not be part of the 'house of Lugard', it is for the Nigerian Government to either respect the wishes of the people, or come the negotiation table or conduct a referendum. It is not for the Nigerian Government to decide who is a Nigerian or not and come and start shooting up the place

STEP 4
Endeavour to reject Federal Allocation. u re

STEP 5
Stop all form of importation through the

STEP 6
Recall all your sons and daughters from all
parts of Nigeria to relocate to home untill this
fight is over then Nigeria can beg them to
come back as expatriate
STEP 7
Lock up all ur shops in idumota, Alaba
international, Kano main market, and every
other market even in the remote villages
accross the country.
STEP 8
Go beyond closing of the Niger bridge stop all
Nigerians from buying or selling in Onitsha
Main market or Ariaria market in Aba.
STEP 9
Make sure u make ur Visa very hard for
Nigerians.
STEP 10
This fight can be achieved without Violence
just like south Sudan. Finally, make sure u
dont fight it with weapons.

You seem to forget that Igbos did all these things in 1967 when they declared Biafra. It still did not stop your Nigerian Government from shouting 'one Nigeria' all over the place and coming down to the east to make war.
