Maybe if you had read the OP's post with a little more understanding, you would have realized that what he was attacking wasnt JAMB, but the kind of half-baked universities that our Nigerian Students attend abroad all in the name of going to a University.

We are in serious error with our educational policies in Nigeria.

Nigeria has 100 universities, yet thousands of applicants are on the waiting list from year to year.
I learned that Ghana has 4 federal or public universities, yet admits thousands of students from abroad every year. There are no ASUU strikes in Ghana and Nigeria is richer than Ghana. Ghana can pay her ASUU and keep their universities working unlike Nigeria.

Nigeria with her 100 universities + the countless Polytechnics and Colleges of Education/Colleges of Agriculture cannot admit foreign students on the scale that Ghana does. Many Nigerian Universities cannot individually admit 5000 fresh students every year. If a University cannot admit 5000 fresh students every year, it is a white elephant project that should be closed down or merged with another.

I see nothing wrong with any Nigerian attending a university in Ghana whether or not they can pass JAMB in Nigeria. JAMB is for Nigeria. Ghana has her own standards for university admission too just as the universities in the UK also have their own standards. Today the Nigerian university certificate is worthless abroad. Even within Nigeria, some employer organizations do not accept them. Do the universities in the UK recognize our JAMB? Then what are talking about condemning Ghana's educational policies?.

Ghana has functional universities, Nigeria has none.

I served 16 years with a 1st generation bank and quit voluntarily 5 years ago. I have fully adjusted and have no regrets leaving the banking industry.
Many ex-bankers hardly can stand on their feet after leaving the industry.
Many do not know what to do and have become stranded.

3) seeking to start a business on a big scale rather than starting small and learning the ropes.

A building collapse is a man made problem.
I place the problem at the doorstep of the government department whose duty it is to enforce building guidelines.
Every building must have approved building plans and the building must conform to the approved building plan.
There is a government department that should monitor and ensure compliance. It is obvious that they are not alive to their duties.
Building collapse is becoming too many in Nigeria and we should go beyond arresting the owner and the contractor/developers.

I saw a related scam (not on nairaland) about a forex investment whereby N50,000.00 investment will yield N35000.00 investment dividend in 10 days. The promoter is a Pastor. Ponzi Schemes!

The major problem is the electricity to power the freezers.
What is going to be the scale of operation?
For example, if you are going to set up with one or two freezers and have to power them with a generator that will consume 10 litres of fuel costing N1000.00 a day, what profit are you going to make that will cover the expenditure?
But if you are setting up a coldroom that can hold cartons in hundreds, that could be more profitable. You will need a larger diesel generator but depending on location, the volume of sales will cover the cost of diesel and other overheads.
The business is profitable because there is market for frozen foods massively smuggled into Nigeria to bridge the gap. But it has to be kept frozen till it is sold. The poor supply of electricity is the major obstacle which means operating a generator at a higher cost. A 15KVA Diesel Generator consumes 2 liters of diesel per hour.

The problem is not the production. The problem is in the ability to sell the fish within Nigeria. there are other reasons as follows:
The economic realities of the day has made many Nigerians especially the low income classes, which constitute the majority to stay away from catfish. A kilo of catfish costs N500.00 to N600.00 in Lagos. Many average income Nigerians see this fish as a luxury item. A family of five which is the size of an average family in Nigeria will consume a kilo of catfish in one day. There are closer substitutes imported from abroad known as frozen fish which are cheaper. One of them called KOTE costs N400.00 per kilo and will last three days in the soup pot. Another frozen fish known as SHAWA costs N300.00 per Kilo which means that the family with their N600.00 can buy 2 kilos which will take them 4-5 days. Given the economic realities, how many are interested in buying catfish? A large segment of the populace have been cut off the catfish market on economic grounds.

Secondly, catfish is scripturally forbidden in the Bible. I used to eat catfish and loved it but when i came across Leviticus Chapter 11 verse 7-12 warning, i stopped buying catfish. Nevertheless, many Christians still consume it. That the scripture taboo scares away some people is a minus to its marketability.Another set of Nigerians have been cut off the market on religious grounds.

Thirdly, many of the catfish farmers do not know of any market other than the local market where we all go to buy and sell all manner of food items. There is over supply of fish in the markets far above the demand. The upper income class who can afford to consume the fish at will hardly patronize the local markets. There are foreign markets but many of the farmers are backyard farmers who are either ignorant of the markets or do not have the volume of production required to enter the foreign markets.
