Culture › Re: What You May Not Know About Americans by kpolli(m): 5:36pm On Sep 16, 2014 |
Sweetlemon: Yeah we all think America is a liberated, free country for all. But what we do not know is that to some extent, there are things that Americans still practice despite all the feminism and human rights movements, some even outdated.
1. Ain't Nothing Like Gender Equality: Yes there are a few superwomen here and there. Beyonce there, Oprah Winfrey there, female supreme court judges, etc. But there is a line drawn somewhere. Do you know that there are still many jobs that pay men more than women for doing exactly the same thing? Business policies are more male-tailored, also the percentage of female CEOs of top companies in Nigeria for instance is far more than that of the US. That's why they have so many laws protecting women to make up for this. Also, it will be easier for a female president to come out from Nigeria than US (black or white) Let's bet this. Hilary Clinton fans take note of this.
2. They Actually Have a Deep Rooted Culture; Thanksgiving and 4th of July are traditions that will remain till thy kingdom comes and they follow it religiously. They also have certain kinds of music, food, and ways of partying that are strictly American. Apart from their atheists, they collectively say grace at the table during every family meal. They also have a tradition they observe in the weddings. Their weddings are more like trad and white rolled into one.
3. There Are Probably More Percentage Of Housewives In The US Than In Nigeria (minus rural settings); Go to high brow areas like Bel-air where there are wives of successful lawyers and and surgeons doing nothing all than taking care the kids and going shopping. Not just high brow but almost all classes of people. There are more and more housewives choosing to stay back and take care of the home. Some work from the house though.
4. There Are Lots Of Gold Diggers; This is for the "Nigerian girls and money" criers. American and Russian babes no dey carry last in the area of god digging. Marrying an American woman is like getting ready to loose more than half your wealth because in case of a divorce, the courts will give her most of your wealth which you will have to work hard to replenish. Sometimes it"s worse if she already has her own money, she will make sure she gets a good lawyer to squeeze you dry. But American billionaires have ways of making new money so they are coping. Lol. Do you know there are many, many young even middle aged attractive women with the sole aim of marrying wealthy men?
5. Straight Guys Hate Gay Guys; With a passion! Go to American sites and blogs and see anonymous comments from straight guys about gay men. You will coil! Words like "gay asss" or "gay" are used to ridicule them codedly. Gays can NEVER have equal rights in America. Politicians just use them to score points. They all know that homosexuals cannot actually live like and get all the benefits of straight people in all American states.
6. An American Guy Will Choose A Virgin Over A LovePeddler As Wife; Unless, of course love comes in, contrary to what people think that American men don't care about morality in their women, they will pick an inexperienced girl over a LovePeddler any time any day. Not like they are looking for virgins, but they need and crave decent women. If you don't believe me, watch BAGGAGE on Dstv 127 almost every evening. Also visit American blogs and forums. Yes the Average American guy can't resist some one night stands here and there but he can't marry her. Yes they can have baby mamas and even live with them, but they don't marry them.
7. There Are Actually More Percentage of Virgins In America Than In Most Countries In Africa; Some of them are the miss-goody-two-shoes, no makeup, no fancy dresses types while some are the party girl types. They chose to remain virgins not for religious reasons or because they are good girls but because they chose to preserve it for that special man, or to auction it off! Lol! Is it not oyibos that auction that virginity? Some as old as 26 years old!
8. American Guys Go To Meet Their Girlfriend's Families Long Before Nigerian Guys Are Ready For Such; They are also old-fashioned when it comes to serious relationships. Opening car doors, taking you out on several dates, and even meeting your folks before taking you to his house or asking you to come to his. Unlike our Nigerian niggas who get your number today and the next thing they are asking when you will come to see them!
9. Most American Grandmas Are Just As Prim And Proper As Ours; They take care of grandkids and give all the advice and lectures and are just as protective and desirous of grandkids as our own grandmothers.
If you doubt any of these, do some research. I was about to agree with this bull crap then I saw number 7 Lie further than hell |

Do you actually pay attention to that bullshit that they teach you? Talk about mind control and the true difference between blacks here and over there in Africa. History is a pack of lies agreed upon. In school they teach you Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas and the socalled Founding fathers wrote the stupid constitution. And chatwa is an indigenous tribe located in the Southern Portion of the United states. Oh so this is a personal education.... So that's why blacks over "here" end up studying English and Music while the blacks in Africa become scientist, doctors and Engineers.... For your info, I am over "here" so it's not a child in Africa you're giving your cock and bull analysis to.... That's why African Americans can be dumb enough to do the fire challenge... mags5222: See this is the issue. Those migrants weren't coming from Africa but Asia. They were still blacks, but not from the landmass known as Africa. Also not all blacks were slaves and not all slaves were Africans. we need to get out of that lie. Matter of fact the bulk of the slaves in the US was indigenous and whites, now what does this mean? But yes the bulk of the blacks in the americas and the Carib were here already. Many caribs still practice their culture, many blacks who have kept the tradition still practice their culture. When my family moved from the south to the west we lost touch. My people were Chatwa. And some of my people practice Vodun. I have been nice to you for too long, I have tried to refrain from insulting your intelligence but you come to me as someone who either failed social studies in middle school, you didn't go to school or you're writing all this to push me.... Black slaves came from Asia abi? Do you know what, I agree with you.... Black Americans came from Asia, please open a petition to change the official name to Asian American, keep the African out of it..... Chatwa? Is that what ancestory dot com told you? |
Culture › Re: Do African Americans Have A Culture? by kpolli(m): 12:53am On Sep 11, 2014 |
mags5222: Well my people taught me no such thing. Matter of fact there were no slaves in my family.(Not saying there weren't slaves)
But blacks here and west africans aren't the same people. The bulk of the slaves(When they did have african slaves) Were from central Africa. Hence the congoid influence found in the south and the carib aswell as latin america. All in all the bulk of the slaves in the Americas were actually indigenous and not africans. Say for instance the claim is that 200,000 african slaves came to america this compromises a very small number. So from your theory, the bulk of the slaves in America were already residing in America.... Damn bro.... The Caribbeans was another location slaves were kept.... Black slaves came from Africa, period!!!! PS: A huge number of blacks in America are not descendants of slaves, they are descendants of Africans who migrated there and generations later, their culture was forgotten... |

mags5222: This is the question that i have for all west Africans on this forum if black americans are such bad people than why do you continuously claim that we are of some west-central african origin when it is obvious we aren't your people. The closet group to black americans are the Caribs. And guess what? They are a mix group of people with a hint of congoid but mostly indigenous Americans. Because history and our fore-fathers told us that slaves mostly came from the West African regions..... You're no longer our people.... The virtue was lost a long time ago.... But one character we all still have is blame everyone else for our problem instead of oneself I guess you can't remove that from a black man |

ayex2013: Here are some of the worst price gadgets everyone seems to want or have. You can’t win with these guys so it’s best to just keep your money and buy more reasonable alternatives. Checkout our list of 5 Gadgets That Are All Hype And Overpriced; 1. Beats by Dre
The entire line is complete crap, especially for their ridiculous prices. Did you know that Beats Pro/detox that you saved over 500 dollars to get cost only 3 dollars to make and is still a crap quality headphone? Just giving you the facts people. Yo are buying a lifestyle when you should be buying quality. 2. Samsung Phones
I do not have to reiterate how annoying these are. I mean, they are Android smart phones made entirely of plastic with a weak ass Gorilla glass thing attached to the front. Drop ones and it breaks. And you are expected to shell out over a hundred thousand naira to buy these phones most of the time if you want a flagship something. Can’t be life. 3. Apple Mac Books
Do me a favor, when you are done with this post, kindly take a stroll over to Jumia and check out Mac Book prices… The go all the way up to about a million naira. For a laptop, that needs to charge with electricity and you still have to pay for internet. No Bueno Amigo!!!! The price just doesn’t add up to what we are buying. Sorry! 4. Samsung TVs
The other day mans is strolling through the mall and I see this curved LED TV by Samsung for 30 million naira… No mistakes guys, I call the attendant and asked if there was some kind of error and she did well to hold back her laughter in mockery of my obvious confusion… Then you start to look around and you begin to notice the prices on these things. Samsung needs to be stopped! 5. Smart Watches
The new rave of the moment, everyone wants a Moto 360 or a pebble that will set you back 700-800 dollars, Money that can buy land. And all the watch will do is notify you when your phone is ringing and tell you time and weather. Alright guys, I understand the foolishness. Well done! OBO!

Education › Re: Third Class And 2.2 In Our Federal Universities. by kpolli(m): 2:44pm On Aug 27, 2014 |
LARRYDKING: If u've heard of or experienced the several rigorous tests and screening students of federal varsities have passed through before been offered admission, u'll only but agree with me that it's just the best brains in Nigeria that attends federal schs.
Unilag for example have the policy of admitting candidates who generally merit there admission irrespective of the number. Even thier supplimentary list is always choked up with students who have high score but could not still merit the requirementss. Very good examples of such requirements as it affects all engineering candidates/aspirants of the sch is the possession of at least a credit pass in F-maths at O/level, having a minimum of distinction frm a polytechnic before been quailfied for direct entry among others. After all these, some of their students still graduate will third class and pass.
OAU is another sch where where students who merit their admission can sit at home and expect their names in the first admission list of the sch, same applies in U.I and other federal schs.
Apology to the students of the state unis but this does nt happen in state unis, scoring high and meriting admission requirements cant be totally used as a yardstick for admission, just a phone call frm a prominent member of the society will secure one admission. So if they make 3rd class, we can't really blame anyone for it.
After beating all these requirements to be offered admission into the federal university, why do some students still make as low as 2.2, 3rd class and pass from their schools with all the tests they have passed showing their academic prowess
Share your view.
Obvious you didn't go to Unilag.... If u did u would have found someone who didn't score up to 200 in Jamb who got into the toughest course via "leg"..... And as per your question... If there is no failure, there is no success.... Courses are different from Secondary school subjects |
