Fraud is fraud no matter your religious beliefs, so your argument does not hold water. Asides true christians who understand the bible and the will of God would tell you that the tithes being preached and practised today is not of God but a fraudulent manipulation of biblical tith

But pastors are always using spiritual blackmail to extort tithes, seed sowing and other illegal offerings from their congregation and the majority allow them to get away with it. So why wouldn't they extend the spiritual blackmail to politics?

Apart from the pastor who did the burning being extremely stoopid and egoistic, equally to blame is the idiotick journalist who decided to publish the silly story. Ordinarily if not for the mischief and sensationalism in the mind of the journalist, the burning of an ordinary book should not even be a news worthy item.

@sweetnecta

Must you always bring your islamic religion which is riddled with even more faults and inconsistency than you claim for christianity into every topic huh Trinity is not biblical, it was introduced to the church by the catholic church and most christians don't equate Jesus with his father. That aside I am not sure of the biblical basis for Satan being an arch angel, I am yet to come across any scriptures affirming this either. I believe the theory is based on mis-understanding of scriptures. People make the mistake that satan is lucifer were as there is no biblical evidence for this. Lucifer was in fact a former babylonian king who fell from grace.

Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing: An Interesting Article by KunleOshob(m): 12:06pm On Apr 02, 2011
I am sick of this lie that it was tithes that was used for the sustenance of the priests in Israel, there is nothing further from the truth than this as the levitical tithes was given just once a year and in some instances once in three years. Clearly this could not be their regular means of support. If you study the books of leviticus chapters 2,3,4,5,6&7 and also Numbers chapter 28 & 29 you would come across the various types of regular offerings God ordained for the sustainance of the priests. These offerings were namely:
Grain offerings
Fellowship offerings
Sin offerings
Repayment offerings
Regular/sabbath offerings
Monthly offerings
Festival offerings
New year offerings
&
Atonement offerings

It is a malicious lie from the pits of hell to allege that God's plan for taking care of the priests was tithes which was dones once a year to celebrate their yearly harvest as opposed to all the other regular offerings listed above just becos tithing as been conviniently manipulated and twisted by the mordern clergy for their selfish benefit. So when was even talking of benefiting of those who ministered at the alter he was clearly refering to the more regular temple offerings rather than the once in a year tithes of harvest. That aside paul being a man well learned in the Jewish laws could never have asked for tithes as tithes was the exclusive preserve of levites and Paul being from the tribe of benjamin would have been sinning if he preached or accepted tithes since the law wouldn't have allowed it and Paul wasn't in the habit of manipulating scripture for his benefit like our modern day preachers.

I don't want to get into this debate for now cos I am still studying the issues involved biblically. Funny enough the issue was raised and discussed in my church last sunday during bible study and we couldn't reach a conclusion. We hope to complete the discourse on it this sunday. But one thing is clear to me is that the popular church criteria for salvation is not entirely accurate biblically speaking.

1 John 4:7-11 special emphasis on verse 11 explains how it is only possible to love God if we love others, I would have posted the passage here for the benefit of all but I am currently using my phone to browse, would appreciate if anybody with a e-bible should help in posting the passage. It should help throw some light on the discourse.

If your brain is not developed enough to comprehend the consistency in my previous posts, that's your problem not mine. I also reiterate that tithing as pagan origins as it was first practised by the pagan babylonians were abraham came from then the egyptians before the Israelites started tithing. A little google search should help your ignorance in this regard if you know how to use the search engine.

Like I earlier said your parents need to demand a refund for money wasted on your education, even my posts you dug up proves my position better but I guess your IQ is not capable of understanding the very simple position I have taken. You are obviously not educated enough to benefit from this discussion so I won't bother continuing this dialogue with you until you show enough intellect to grasp the issues we are discussing here.

I really wonder what gave nuclearboy the impression that you are intelligent becos you continue to demonstrate a very shallow grasp of issues implying a low IQ. I never anywhere stated that paying tithe is fraudulent, I only sympathize with the victims of the false teaching. What I have always maintained is that it is the preaching of tithes as compulsory for christians that is fraudulent and manipulative. If your brain can't comprehend the difference between the two statements then I suggest your your parents demand a refund for the money wasted on your education.

Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing: An Interesting Article by KunleOshob(m): 5:47pm On Mar 31, 2011
@snowwy

And when you considered the fact that the jews never paid monetary tithes talkless of the early christians you would realize the fact that Paul could not have been referring to tithes as a means of supporting the gospel. What is clear Paul is talking about is normal free will offerings which was used then both to support the nnedy amongst them and to also help spread the gospel. Tithes was never an issue in the early church. Infact if you go and study christian history well you would discover that tithing was not introduced to the church till the year 585AD when the catholic church felt they needed more funding. Even then tithes then was still agric produce and they had to deceive believers to justify it. Monetary tithes was not introduced to the church till 1875 when some so called christian leaders decided to scale up the scam and make more money from it. Since then other charlatans have invented several false and daft doctrines about so called blessings and benefits of tithing to further hoodwink the gullible into the false doctrine. Off course they support it with so called curses derived from twisting the scriptures. One thing is clear though mordern day tithing was invented by men and is totally different from the biblical one so it can best be described as a fraudulent manipulation of scripture.

Christianity Etc › Re: Tithing: An Interesting Article by KunleOshob(m): 12:05pm On Mar 31, 2011
@snowwy
The tithes given to the levites was food crops not cash and it was once in three years (deut:14:28-29) how is it possible that a once in a three year obligation be the source of lively hood of a whole tribe? It is clear in scripture that the levites were only given tithes becos they were not given a share of the land and they could not produce themselves. Are pastors restrained from owning land or property to qualify them from benefitting from the biblical tithes which in any case is not even relevant to christianity today?
