Properties › Re: Landlord Gets 3-year Jail Term For Evicting Tenant With Force. by lastpage: 8:56am On Nov 02, 2014
Finally, let me say that l have been a son of a Landlord .... while growing up.
I have also been a tenant myself, in two different states (due to work schedule) some years back.
I am also a Landlord for some years now.

I can say "I have seen and experienced it all"!

Like my parents used to say, ...and l do tell my Tenants (and one of my landlord back then was the "Chairman" of occasion during my first house-warming and did he tell a very long story! ), if you treat your landlord and his property VERY NICELY AND WITH RESPECT.... his/her prayers might hasten God's blessings on you, to become a Landlord yourself, in no time afterall, "where the strong is struggling, even the handicapped is prospering"! (adage).

Conversely, if you are the type that "suffers" your landlord and think that is your calling in life, you will work all your life and not see the fruits of your own labour... while your juniors will be doing house-warming, right, left and center!
I have seen a man who spent over 40yrs as a tenant in a house in Lagos, a very troublesome tenant.... and when his whole family were eventually ejected by the new owners of the house (Landlord died and his children sold the house), this "perpetual tenant" became homeless in his "old age"! It was with shame that they packed his belongings into 9-11 truck for eastward transport back to his village.

Its is a natural occurrence!
Similar to a child whose parents "righteously", repeatedly BLESS ;..compared to one whose parents "righteously" repeatedly swear and CURSE! Whose days do you think will be longer and fruitful?

Trust me, it works! We will reap whatever we sow, in the long or short run.

I don't under the law anymore, or rather I've never undertstood the law...the tenants damage worth 300 thousand and the landlord is asked to pay 50 thousand fine or sentenced to 3 year imprisonment lipsrsealed
sexyjob:
the landlady wld pay N350,000. The damages and N50,000 to the court.
You are COMPLETELY WRONG!
The Landlady would either pay #50,000 or go to JAIL! The #50K goes to the government as someone has earlier pointed out to you.
Its an "option of fine"!
It is a CRIMINAL CASE and such "criminal cases" dont offer financial relief to the victim. It only seeks to punish the offender (Landlord).
Ask a Lawyer if you are still in doubt.... stop acting like you know. wink

Lastpage!

BTW: The tenant, having won the 'criminal case', may on the basis of that, sue for "damages" in a separate and new CIVIL SUIT for compensation to whatever figure he/she decides ...and my Lord will then finally decide how much to "AWARD".

Nigeria sha with its irregularities... tongue
Relax guys, as it is often said "There are at least seven different ways of KILLING A CAT" .....even if it claims to have nine lives! grin grin wink wink

When you are dealing with "The Devil", you need to be smart and have a long spoon!

First, l dont support Landlords/ladies "abusing tenant rights". That is the most important statement l can make today!

But any silly tenant who thinks he or she can "take advantage' of our weak judicial system, to rubbish a landlord and taunt, abuse and oppress him/her, has another thing coming!

Ask ourself: How come tenants dont owe house rents in foreign countries like U.S.A, Europe and Canada?
The reason is that "The law is balanced and it functions" in those places!

You owe just one week rent and the House owner will simply get an IMMEDIATE Court order (within a day or two) and he will change the ENTRANCE KEY right away and if you break the door, you will go to jail.... all within a short time.
Our Courts and judges need to step up if they are truly desirous of "enforcing laws".
The Govt itself needs to build AFFORDABLE housing units for the masses.

Having said that, there are easier ways within the African/Yoruba Context to send out such "evil tenants".

I wont elaborate much and l will post this as a "reported speech" just so that l am properly covered....
But this is how it happened to one tenant like that, ..in order of "appearance":
*Unknown "thieves" visit his room/flat and beat the hell out of him and also take some cash/valuables! => WARNING ...but least advisable due to possibility of leaving traces)!
*He still did not get the message, then he woke up one morning to find "Eboo" (Ritual offering) at his door thereafter, he starts battling strange illness. He just started "drying up' like someone with HIV! people who knew him were asking: Baba Chinedu, wetin do you now? shocked

Ofcourse he went to report to the Police but since nobody knew who brought the "Eboo" and no one could trace/connect its efficacy to his illness, NOTHING COULD BE DONE since our laws does not recognize such "nonsense"! grin kiss kiss

This is why l love the "African/Yoruba traditional methods of solving knotty problems. (as some people from a particular section of the country are typical of this kind of behaviour of not paying their rent and not vacating the house)....
If you dont like a landlord or dont like the house, just vacate peacefully instead of thinking you would suffer a landlord who "sacrificed" and took time, pain and scarce resources to put up a house ...that you now reside inside!
Even if you cant vacate immediately (due to reasons beyond your control but you are making genuine effort to vacate), make sure you never owe him his rent. if he does not accept it, go and pay it at the court for safe-keeping and they woudl issue you with a receipt!

As l was recounting, by the time this errant tenant starts hearing "strange noises" in his flat at night and no one else could hear it, he himself started thinking "he was loosing it" but as stubborn as they come, he bluffed it off as superstition!

Finally, he became so ill from "Ategun" that he was advised by "those in-the-know" to stop oppressing his Landlord otherwise he would pay with his "breath".
No one forced him before he came to beg Landlord to PLEASE give him one more week ....and he paid all his arrears before packing out!
I am sure a few people here would have had/heard of the same experience?
Omode o mogun, o npe l'eefo! wink

No need for violence or removing roofing sheet.
We must go back to our tradition in solving certain problems that are unique to our environment.
But let me add: The above would not work for a landlord who tries to oppress his tenant for no good reason! The 'gods' are not partial.
Adaabi jaa j'oogun lo! Even the Bible says "Curse without (Good) REASON, shall not land", right?

The funny thing is that most Nigerians think this "options" are lost in our generation simply because there are lots of quacks masquerading as traditionalist! I can understand younger kids born in Lagos/urban areas who dont know 'jack' about their origins, culture or identity.
Up till today, in my village and my house, you still cant enter and steal in the owners absence ... but the bad caveat is that it cant be used for profit! You cant 'trade' it for a benefit. if given it must be given free.

Politics › Re: INNOSON Donates 21 Buses To Support Gej's Re-election by lastpage: 6:51pm On Oct 31, 2014
INNOSSON: Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company Limited on Thursday in Abuja donated 20 buses and a jeep to the Goodluck Support Group (GSG).

The Chairman of the company, Chief Innocent Chukwuma who made the donation, said it was a token to help the GSG carry out its campaign effectively for President Goodluck Jonathan.

"These 21 vehicles are presented to GSG to support the re-election campaign of our dear president and to the glory of God,’’ Chukwuma said.
http://aitonline.tv/post-motor_company_donates_21_vehicles_to_goodluck_support_group
Now, this is a very stewpid and dangerous thing to do!

Let me ask:
1.) Is it only Goodluck that is contesting? Why not donate vehicles to every contestant?

2.) As a Corporate entity, are you pitching your tent with Jonathan's re-election... if YES, why?

3.) Are we to beleive that this is WHY Goodluck was banning and promoting INNOSSON products? (Tribal warriors should hold their fire, l am just doing a comparative analysis for now)

4.) Now, does INNOSSON know that the danger in this type of "openly political patronage" is that if Goodluck looses, the company has definitely opened itself up for "collapse" as the incoming Government can/would simply implement policies that would run it out of business, as pay-back? For example, liberalizing vehicle imports and reducing importation/vehicle clearing tax to very low value like 5%!

What l am driving at is that a sensible chairman, even if he has to support a particular candidate, will do it on "personal level" and will do it more subtly!

Small time now, he would come out to say "The Govt of the day" is not supporting his company's made in Nigeria.... when he is busy now putting himself and his company in "danger"!

Finished..... now "tribal warriors can attack. kiss kiss kiss

stupor:
Dont mind them,Nigeria wants growth and all that in this 21st century and yet cant accept gay laws.Total blindless to real truth.

Nigeria that doent want gay laws should stop travelling to Gay regulated Countries and all their apple products, iphones, mac etc should be returned or confiscated !

Gej and govt functionaries should stop any visits to gay regulated areas like the us if they are trully frowning at Gay laws.

Bunch of hypocrites !

I'm a Nigerian,i dont use Iphone or any other apple product but will say they are indeed great products and would definitely love to have one.

Lastly,i am a christian,
i am not a gay but can never frown when i see one except if the gay is a criminal.

Reasons why Nigeria is still backward and irresponsible are someof these issues of gay laws and several other socio-political issues we that we cant amicably resolve.

I rest my case for Nigeria.
STOP yearning Opata please! "Christian" my black bottom! wink

First, there is nothing like "Gay-regulated" countries! .... if you actually understand the import of what you typed.
In the U.S that you mentioned, GAYS are but just a tiny little fraction of the population ..though like you, they tend to MAKE A LOT OF NOISE... just like this Tim Cook!
That they are "tolerated" does not make America a Gay-Country! grin grin

Secondly, those who use Apple Products did not get it fro free and when they bought it, that pervert called Tim Cook did not announce he was GAY! (No wonder he waited till long after I-phone 6 was launched before coming out, such a duplicitous self-servicer! angry )
Thus, if anything at all, those people need to be REFUNDED and COMPENSATED for such deceit! kiss kiss

Thirdly, STOP FOOLING yourselves .... SUPPORTING these "PERVERSE-WANKERS" is not what makes a better Country otherwise countries like Russia or China would not even exist on the Map!
The problem with Nigeria has nothing to our rejection of these ABOMINABLE INDULGENCE!
Its just "one-less" problem from the many the country, like any other country, faces!

adioolayi:
Nigeria on Thursday escaped the wrath of FIFA as Justice Ambrose Allagoa of the Federal High court sitting in Jos, Plateau State on Thursday withdrew the suit filed against the Nigeria Football Federation by the Chris Giwa-led board.

However at the sitting of the court on Thursday, the judge announced the dismissal of the suit following the withdrawal of the suit by the plaintiffs.

Allagoa said, “The suit is hereby dismissed as the plaintiffs have announced their intention to withdraw the case from the court.”

Counsel for the plaintiffs, Mr. Ardzard Habilla, who spoke to our correspondent after the ruling said his client had to withdraw the case in the interest of Nigerian football and the appeal of well-meaning Nigerians for an end to the crisis in the Glass House.

He said, “My client is well aware of the implication of another FIFA ban on Nigeria and has also listened to the appeals from well meaning Nigerians to withdraw the case from court.”

Judges dont withdraw suits!
Only the Petitioner/Plaintiff may withdraw their suit!!

As you have also seen in the last part of the write-up, the Judge only dismisses the suit, based on its withdrawal by the Plaintiff.
Its good to proof-read what you are posting.

Anyway, we have said it that the suit will eventually be withdrawn as Nigerians cannot stand the "FIFA BAN" irrespective of whether the cause being fought is JUST or NOT! wink

Car Talk › Re: When You Hit Or Kill Someone While Driving: What's The Right Thing To Do? by lastpage: 8:02pm On Oct 28, 2014
CityNG:
It's a complex situation.
......................
Folks, Nigeria is not as unique as you folks want to think.
Leaving the scene of an accident is a major crime here in the USA, it's in fact a felony, the highest crime criteria one can commit and up there with murder and manslaughter. Why don't we see more of it in the USA? Because the Police are not only sitting in stations but are out doing vehicular patrols on the street and heavily armed to deter mobs. Mobs also knows that if they mob they would be brought to justice and face severe punishment..............

My other pet peeve is what someone said which is to not apply foreign solution to Nigerian problem. This is wrong and backwards in my opinion.

No matter how you cut it, we are Nigerians and we have a say and stake in what happens.

Good luck to all of us.
I am beginning to like you a lot! angry angry

Back to Topic:
Hmm.... "He who wears the Shoe, knows where it pains"! wink
If you have never been in this situation (Knocking someone down with your vehicle), you can only imagine it.

As a driver, you dont need to be in the wrong at all, for the Mob to descend on you!

I have also hit a young boy (Thankfully, it was on my street and l was practically "crawling" along the street because the surface was being repaired back then) ...the Boy was chased by his father from inside their compound as he wanted to chastise him over something and the boy just "blindly ran across" the road, to escape his father but unfortunately, he was just inches from me and l could not even see him on time.
The saving grace was that l was just "very slow" ......but the impact was a direct hit and it threw him a few feet ahead.

Now, they know me in this street as l have lived there for over a decade and l am a ranking member of the CDA.
A lot of people saw what happened and you know what, l stopped and picked-up the lad, dumped him into my vehicle and without even waiting for anyone, rushed him to the nearest hospital.
He survived and was on my "Peak Milk and Bournvita" for a few weeks!

I was later told that "The Mob" actually went to my house and wanted to set it on fire while l was on my way to the hospital with the boy ..... if not for the Father of the Boy who insisted that it was his Boy's fault (he was obviously aware he chased the boy onto the road and was still angry with him).

So, l think it does not matter 'what led' to the accident... people are "ANGRY" and want to vent their anger on some "unlucky person" who might be vulnerable.
If they actually love the victim, they would have assisted you (knowing that you could be very shaken and unable to even drive at that point) ..in taking him to the hospital. Naah, they prefer to see "blood, one more death and a lot of fireworks" would lift up their spirits
! wink

I have learnt my lesson since then.
Now l installed "extra loud horn", (with extra Power Relay to really give it Decibels!) on my vehicles.
My horn is like saying: "This Crazy driver wants to commit suicide, please run away from him"! grin grin ....and it works! I see people "jump" when it goes off when otherwise they would have been like: "Hit me and see what would happen"!

When l am getting to a junction, even if it is empty of cars or people, l blast my horn!
When l want to do a corner, l blast my horn! otherwise, some Danfo driver with failed break might just spring up like a Ghost!
When l am UNDER a bridge, l blast my horn; God forbid some Pedestrian falls down from the overhead/foot bridge!
Even when l am on third mainland Bridge, l still blast my horn since it is not impossible that some "l wanna-die" zombie might just jump out of the river! shocked
Even when the vehicle is parked, the "alarm" is ready to "shout" just incase some slowpoke decides he wants to remove the brainbox!
It has become second nature but l must agree that "It is very wrong and unfortunate" that we have turn our environment to one of "noisy nuisance".
Unless the Police stop acting like helpless fools, unless they are ready to do their job by protecting any and everyone who comes to them when in distress, l tell you, the best thing to do when you are in danger of being lynched, IS TO TAKE-OFF TO WHERE IT SI SAFE!

As bad as that may sound. When there is life, there is hope.

6.) Chris Giwa is no different from Pinnick, they both dont have the interest of Nigerian football at heart. they are both after the enormous money that is being stolen from the Glass house. They are both "members" of the sleaze and they have been into it for a long time. Its like an "inverted tree" structure or a Triangle, ...with Sepp Blatter himself sitting at the top!
FOOTBALL IS NOW A VERY WELL ORGANIZED RACKET OF CORRUPTION.

Someone needs to call the bluff of FIFA! (but l know Nigerians would never hear of this! We love football like we love our religions!) cry cry angry
Like FIFA itself, our Football association is so corrupt that nothing good can come out of it.
Some players have been known to "speak out" (when their allowance get stolen, Cameroon players refuse to board a plane to World Cup for the same reason! grin ) but the get bullied and punished into silence.

The Sports arbitration panel set-up by FIFA is also made up of the same "corrupt cult members".
Giwa is desperate to be in the saddle so he can steal his own bigger share, Pinnick does nto want to live th eplace because he knows what amount of money he stands to make!

Yet, Nigeria's football is suffering! The current band of thieves are not concerned about that except what to steal.
The last Good Football Administrator Nigeria had was Anthony Ikhabozoh (one military guy like that). Then, we could fire and hire an NFF chairman, based on his performance but now, they know they have corrupt FIFA to protect them and dont give a damn about "performance" or whether they are caught stealing!

Either way, Nigeria and football is the looser!

Sepp Blatter and his "cult members" are the winner since Football generates a lot of revenue (no one can even question FIFA on how it spends the money!) and has a world-wide following, the stakes are very high, just as it is in Nigeria's case.

Stop pitching your tent with Giwa or Pinnacle ..... its no different from those who fight over which party is btter to chose: "APC or PDP"?
Its two sides of the same coin, ..six or half-dozen!

Let FIFA ban us but let Govt use the opportunity to "clean-out" the Football federation.
There must be life-ban and legal prosecution of those thieves in the Glass house.

But wait, FIFA will have non of that. It will not even publish its own Corruption scandal report!
Why conduct the investigation if not just to distract people away that "you are doing something aoiut it"/

FIFA and Sepp Blatter!
1.) To continue in office, Blatter needs the support of the Continental Chairmen like Hayattou!
But if you notice, FIFA is the only international organisation that seems to have "Life President"! If Ghadafi was killed for trying to be a life-president, how come Sepp Blatter is being re-elected over and over again?
The last man before him, Jao Havallange died in office! Whats the matter with FIFA and Blatter? Is he trying to "die in office" as well

2.) Look at Issa Hayattou too, he has being CAF chairman since when? Maybe before l was born! grin
Are we saying he is the "best and ONLY person" that can run Football in the whole of Africa, that he must die in office as "Life Chairman"?

3.) Thing is, like a CULT, these "Chairmen" PROTECT THEMSELVES IN OFFICE! This is why FIFA will tell you "If you remove a Chairman caught stealing Players welfare Money (like in Nigeria), You will get banned ..... but no country wants to be banned!

4.) In turn for this "unalloyed Support from above ", the Country Chairmen (from each nation in a continent like Africa), also give their "unalloyed support" to the Continental Chairman (like Issa Hayatou!). Thus, no one should be surprised at What Issa Hayatou is saying up there! He is acting out the script!
You will notice that they are not even talking about the "merit' of the court case.
All they know is that you cant take "chairman" to court.

Recall some years back when Nigeria's President dissolved the NFF and sacked its NFF chairman due to serious corruption and failure in all areas, FIFA quickly came to the "rescue" and threatened to ban us (blackmail) until even President Jonathan was humbled to eat his words! he reversed himself sharp-sharp!
Such is the power of this "religion" (football) and its inner-caucus cult members like Hayatou and Blatter, ....on a country's authority to clean its own house!

5.) But the whole charade has only one purpose: TO PERPETUATE SEPP BLATTER HIMSELF IN OFFICE, FOR LIFE!
Its a "scratch-my-back, l scratch-your-back" racket. .... and it works very well.
It plays on the citizens emotions to want to watch and participate in football!

FIFA protects the Association Chairmen, who protect their Continental Chairmen, who in-turn protect FIFA President so he can "sit tight" over the whole corruption, for the rest of his life!!

But only "trusted" accomplices can be allowed to lead the National Associations!
FIFA does not want one erratic/unknown person to pour sand on the well-arraigned corruption structure... .. and dont forget, "things" have to be done DISCREETLY as well

robosky02:
hear what hayatou CAF president said:

“I had to plead passionately with FIFA President, Mr. Sepp Blatter not to take action on Nigeria on Friday, because Nigeria was in the final of the African Women Championship and a ban on your country would have been bad for the competition and our sponsors. We all heard the news of the court ruling on Thursday, and the football world is angry with Nigeria. That is the truth.

“The FIFA letter that came to your Federation before the elections of September 30 was very clear about an automatic suspension should there be any interference with the political process, and after the elections went ahead, we all thought you had settled your issues.”

“I appealed to FIFA to give until Monday for Nigeria to put its act together. After that, there is absolutely nothing I can do. It is all very disappointing because we have over 50 National Associations in Africa, but a big country like Nigeria is the one always giving us the biggest headache.

“Nigeria signed to be part of the football world by joining FIFA, and opted to abide by the FIFA –approved Statutes that you have. How many times do we have to tell your country that football matters are not taken to civil courts? If Nigeria no longer wants to be part of the football world, then so be it.''
Issa Hayattou needs to Shut-The-Phuck-Up! (Pardon my foul language).
There is a lot of 'Politics" being played here ... and l will try to summarise it as much as possible though its a long story.

1.) Every person has the right to go to court if aggrieved! Chris Giwa went to court, he did not attack or main Pinnick (current NFF chair)
2.) Courts are independent (or supposed to be) and judgements from courts are to be respected, as a sign of democracy! Imagine if a U.S Court gives a verdict and FIFA or CAF is trying to pressure/blackmail the petitioner into withdrawing it?
3.) Except FIFA/CAF is saying that our judicial system is a disgrace and its verdict is not worth respecting, then a court decision is a court decision; Period!
If you dont agree with it, you simply follow due process by APPEALING it to a higher Court.
You can also seek an injuction to "preserve the status-quo" until the Appeal is decided. => Pinnick continues in office till then.

1.) NFF is ridduled with CORRUPTION and that is what is killing our football.
Both Chris Giwa and Pinnick are the same band of looters. FIFA knows this and CAF knows it as well as everyone in the NFF.

Question is: Why does FIFA/CAF prefer one thief over another (Pinnick over Giwa)?

Now, this is where it begins to get interesting:

2.) Notice that each time we try to get rid of a very corrupt NFF President/Chairman, FIFA ALWAYS THREATEN US WITH A BAN? undecided undecided
You begin to wonder: Why does FIFA not want us to get rid of all these corrupt men in our football association? Why does it threaten us instead of being happy that we are trying to clean-up the Glass house?

3.)Before l answer that question (l guess you also know the answer anyway!), let me bring up a similar issue:
The hosting rights of the 2022 (l think) World Cup was awarded to Quatar in a process many "Country-Associations" say was tainted will serious bribery and corruption. Quatar, through its Football chairman was alleged to have offered a lot of money to sway the bid and there are "recordings' of money exchanging hands between the CONCACAF President (South America), including CAF (this same issa Hayattou! talking shyte here was also bribed!).

4.)After resisting for a long time. Fifa Ethics committee was asked to INVESTIGATE the Bribery allegations. It has FINISHED the investigation but like the T.B Joshua Church collapse, FIFA President Sepp Blatter has said the RESULT WILL NOT BE RELEASED!
shocked shocked

Oh, you are asking WHY? Google the story please, and make up your own mind! wink

5.) Thus, l can honestly tell you that Sepp Blatter and his FIFA is the epitome of corruption and wait a bit!
If l go back to the question l asked earlier: Why does FIFA prefer one "Thief" over another Thief? Not all thieves can be trusted!

6.) Football is a very important sport, it is almost like a religion now!
A world-wide religion and the "head of that religion" (Sepp Blatter) has become a very powerful person! You can see that Nigerians are already shivering at the thought of FIFA banning Nigeria! grin grin

7.) Like all Religions, there is a "Powerful Cult" of inner-caucus members who control and decide what happens.
The current Religion (Football) has an inner-caucus cult of most "Continental Chairmen" (Issa Hyattou for CAF, cant remember the name for other continents, but Mitchel Platini is for Europe as well).
These are the men, the powerful men that run the "Religion" of Football, a religion that boasts at least three quarters of the WORLD's POPULATION! Just imagine the membership, during a World Cup Tournament.

Are angry mobs becoming prevalent in Nigeria?

Dem just dey hide under rock dey wait for unsuspecting victims.
Thing is MOST Nigerians are ANGRY..... and rightly so too!
Though, most dont know "where and How" to channel the ENERGY of such anger to
.

Who would not be "angry" if you are born in a country so-blessed (from natural resources to a good climate and vibrant population) yet being ruled by Thugs, Touts, Fraudsters, Unrepentant Looters, inept and clueless politicians who have turned a once peaceful and near ecstatic country into a hell-hole for them?

If not for the unending perseverance and deep resilience of Nigerians, coupled with self-inflicted selfishness, Nigerians should have rose-Up against their oppressors but then..... they channel such anger into "Mob Action"! shocked shocked shocked

Now, that is very disturbing.

Mrkuvuki:
He messed up, its good he's trying to reconnect with his kids...In the America's or Europe the Govt will not allow him access to those children,He failed as a father
Of what good will it be, to the children especially, if though he messed-up, He was never allowed to "make-Up" and see his children again?

This is the "Good Thing" between countries like Nigeria and the so-called developed world!
We try to "correct" bad behaviour" ....
....while the Western system is focused primarily on "punishing" bad behaviour as a way of preventing future occurrence, ...futile as we may have observed!

At the end of the day, maybe he can still make things work out and show even more love to these innocent children.

In America or Europe, he will DEFINITELY be sent to jail!
And as an ex-convict, his prospect of getting a "any job" will be almost ZERO and thus his ability to assist the same children for which he was being punished, further jeopardized!
He then ends up becoming a liability on the same state which assisted in destroying him (in contrast to assisting him to become a better father!)

Thus, these Western Countries need to look themselves in the eye and ask: Is this Policy, made to ensure parents (fathers) do their responsibility to their children, HELPFUL to the same children, IN THE LONG RUN?

No matter what, a Father should NEVER abandon his children though, anyone matured and experienced knows that there are "some circumstances" where that may become inevitable ..... but a good father must be able to show in tangible terms, THE DETERMINED EFFORT he made, to see and care for his children ... and only left when his own life was maybe, being endangered by even trying to see them.

A case in point is when the MOTHER gets a spurious BARRING ORDER against her estranged Husband (father of the children), something very common and "given' in Western Countries.
Such a Father has NO CHOICE than to "completely avoid seeing his children"!
HE has to stay-away!
Even if he 'meets them by chance', he needs to quickly RUN AWAY before the woman calls the Police......otherwise, if he attempts to see them or make any contact with them, he will be arrested and JAILED....., even though he wants to be part of their life.

Curiously, l noticed that the MOTHER in this story, also abandoned these Children for the past Eight years! ...... as it is the father who is promising to go look for her, somewhere in Abuja!

If this were to be in the Western countries, she would "hold on to the Children very dearly".....
.... as it means a "lot of Money" for her, from Child benefit, to early child care, to free house, to 'back to School allowance', Lone Parent allowance, Deserted wife allowance, e.t.c, ......from the Government!
shocked shocked

But since such "Freebie Money" are not available in Nigeria, she quickly abandon them as well! undecided undecided

It just shows you that if you remove the "financial inducement" available, most women in the Western Countries who "claim absent Fathers/Single Mothers", .........will do the same if not worse!

Children should be loved and taken care of, irrespective of the financial inducements.
When Parents "fall-out" with each other, the Children should never be used by any of the parties, for punishment or financial gain. Both must still continue to play their part in the children's life as the children, being still small, cannot decide who they want to live with and it is wrong for the "Legal System' to assume the want to stay with only the woman ......or man alone

ADDENDUM:
And let me add that "Fatherhood" is not just about becoming an ATM ... simply providing money!

Though important to pay the bills, as a child (stepping into a child's mind), l would want my father to spend quality time with me, to teach me things, to mentor me, to provide "stable and dependable" support for me as l grow up, to boost my confidence, to lead me, teach me how to know God, laugh and roll on the floor with me, show me how to love and respect others, teach me how to be Clever, navigate my school work with me on a daily basis, be there when l wake up from a nightmarish sleep to re-assure me that "its okay", e.t.c

He may not be able to afford all the toys, best school or everything l need, but being there, his presence alone IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING A FATHER CAN GIVE A CHILD.

This is what l do/provide for my own children, as a father, despite catering for their financial needs.

As much as I believe okadas should be banned, my fear is 'We are not there yet'. No alternatives for now. I think there should be reliable loan scheme(at all levels of government) for youths to acquire cheap taxis so as to support livelihood since jobs aren't forthcoming, we can introduce tricycles as they are safer, but more importantly, roads should be fixed.

And this is how I think this will go:

After the ban on Okada riders, a means that gives about 1.2 million people job, this FG will then provide three 48-sitter buses to each state, after this, GEJ will go on air to announce to the world that he has given 2.5 million people job...
And that's what they call 'Fresh Air'
When l was growing up, the only Okada l saw was that of "outriders" of the then Governor of Lagos, Mobolaji Johnson!
There was one dare-devil rider called "Lati", we usually taunt him by calling him "Laati elewon" as he rode in a daring fashion to the applause of we youngsters in those day!

I still ask myself: How did we get to this level of Okada everywhere?
In my days, young peeps who cant further their education, learned a trade, from Mechanic, to carpentry, to Electrician, to Bricklayers and only the worst-of-the worse, the 'rejected' became Bus Conductors!

Now, it seems the aim of every youngster is to ride an Okada for a living? huh huh angry

Where are the roads the Govt built?
Where is the Mass transit (Fast trains, Light Rail systems, e.t.c) to take over the transit of citizens?
Where is the Electricity to run Small Scale Business tha these youngsters would have ventured into, as was in those far-gone days?
When is this UNENDING SLIDE into Poverty going to be checked?
Are the current set of people (From Clueless GEJ and his band of treasury looters, ...to Religiously fanatical Sharia proponent Buhari and his team of APC rogues like Tinubu) leading this nation the ones we expect would lift this country unto the right path?

Me dont think so!

Nigerians can stop this rot, if they really want to and want it badly enough.
But again, me dont think Nigerians want it badly enough, ...maybe not just yet! wink wink

Those who deserve sympathy are the ones that carry load on their head at Idumota, those that labor 12hrs on their farm, those that hustle selling wares in traffic jams, those that carry head-pans in construction site, even those that risk their life riding Okada...
Those are "real, visible, hard-workers" who chose "work" instead of "crime", not because they are stewpid or dont know how to carry drugs, but because they appreciate that there are consequences to criminality!

Barbarians everywhere. Yet they'd always shout boko haram this boko haram that. Most Nigerians are worse than boko haram. The only thing that comes to their mind is to KILL YOU after any slight provocation. This happens everywhere in this jungle called Nigeria. If you hit someone they'd throw tire on your neck , if they "suspect" you to be thief/kidnapper they'd burn you alive. Bash a danfo in Lagos and see the alacrity at which both the driver and the bus conductor would locate "wheel spanner" to come and hit on your HEAD(why? If not to kill you). Accidentally Knock down a careless okada man and see throngs of irate okada men with dangerous weapons for vengeance.

Just always taking laws into their hands and they're the most religious you'd come across in churches on sundays and mosques on fridays.

How were they able to outpower those guyz in uniform right in their domain? Shameless things!

Heffing Barbarians!
Thank you my friend, for this your observation!
But you missed one VERY IMPORTANT OBSERVATION AS WELL:

This man who knocked down and killed these children, did not do so intentionally; It was an accident!
He did the right thing by REPORTING HIMSELF at the nearest Police station, he did not run away!

He handed himself over to the Nigerian Police Farce!
Then what happened? Some demonic Police Officer told us irate mobs TOOK THE MAN FROM THEIR CARE AND SET HIM ON FIRE!

Police: Jalingo – Alhaji Kassimu Umar, a Lecturer at the Taraba College of Education (COE) Zing, was on Friday burnt to death in a mob action after he allegedly hit and killed five primary school pupils with a vehicle he was driving.

Mr Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), of the Taraba Police Command confirmed the incident in Jalingo.

He said that the mob forcefully removed Umar from the Pupule Police Outpost, where he went to report the incident, and the mob burnt him to death.

“In the early hours of today, one Kassimu Umar, who is believed to be a lecturer with COE, Zing had knocked down five primary school pupils in Zing, who all died on the spot.
“After he reported the incident to the Pupule Police Outstation, irate youths in their hundreds, stormed the station, dragged him out and lynched him.
Now tell me, if this situation were to repeat itself, do you think the accused will hand himself over to our useless Police DPO or RUN AWAY for dare life?

I call on the Inspector General of Police to quickly sack these useless DPO and demote ALL officers under him by at least two ranks!
This is to serve as a warning to other officers of the Police "Farce" that they MUSt live up to their responsibility of protecting everyone under their care.

Until the man is brought before a court for "multiple' man-slaughter, which carries jail terms (not even death), these Police men have no reason to HAND HIM OVER TO BE BURNT ALIVE!

Honestly, these Idiots dont belong in a Police force.
