Properties › Re: The Real Cost Of Building A Six Bedroom Duplex by lastpage: 12:24pm On Feb 28, 2011
I should have seen this kind of thread, TEN/FIFTEEN YEARS AGO!
You know how it is now, you have money but not much motivation to do something you can call "sound investment" (Stocks blew-up in my face! grin )
Its so inspiring

@brabus: Is that a well/borehole in front of the building? (close to that spot that woman is sitting, in the unfinished house picture)

Where is that same well in the finished picture inserted? Just curios to know how you or others deal with such issue (concealment of the well, aesthetics, safety when cars pass over it, if its is later buried underground, e.t.c). Mine is at the back of house and l still have safety concerns (maybe am just phobic about "wells"; maybe l fell inside one when l was small  grin)

Again, l would like to ask everyone: Is it better to use "buried/conduit" electrical wiring OR surface/Structured Cabling for wires?
What are the merits and demerits of each?
I used the latter as l also made provisions for complete "Data and Network points" for all rooms.kitchen, e.t.c

I think it is something that is often overlooked in this age of "technology and modernization". Most people only cater for "electrical points" in private housing but l think (from my experience in the I.T industry) increasingly, data communication among household gadgets/people may make such necessary.
of course, "wireless communication/WIFI" make make it less needed as time goes by, also (but wired cable is by-far faster than wireless).
Also, once you have the points in place, you can easily "move an connect" equipments (phones, Laptops, Internet enable TV, Networked Printer for ur household, Skyy Boxes, e.t.c) as you wish, without needing help. (I am putting the needs of my kids into consideration also! bloody rascals grin)

How about trouble-shooting when there is a problem with conduit wiring? Is it easy without breaking walls?

Dee-Law Baba!
I salute with all my bodi grin K'oni ree o!!

I have a question for you and anyone with prime information but l dont want to open a new thread for it.

I hear the Rent Edict Tribunal of Lagos State has been ABOLISHED an all "Tenant/Landlord Matter" now goes to the Magistrate and other higher Courts! TRUE or FALSE?

Again, where can l "read-up" on what the "current position of the law" is on House Rent Increase? (I know it is 20%max, every three years before now but the above changes may have moved the goal post angry angry If you put it ere , all the better.

My friend's Landlord just gave him an increase of almost 100% and he is "shitting in his pants"! They went to a "Mediation Center" but it seems "Madam Mediation" is not reading the Law Books cos, she is saying Landlord has the right to increase rent as he likes and if they dont likeit they should pack out"!! angry angry (I am just hoping she is not speaking "under some influence" you know Naija now grin )

Your input and that of others will be appreciated!

BTW: If my friend took my advice some years ago, he would have been a landlord of 2rooms at Ikorodu by now grin

^^^^^ I guess he is trying to avoid the usual "2yrs contract" when you ask him to go rent a room in Surulere?

Again, the Poster has to clarify properly: Are you implying "someone who will share his bedroom with you?
Are you implying someone who has a "spare room" to rent out without the usual "contract and agreement fees"?
Do you want it for a very short period say like 3-6months and no more (for example, l did same when l was to work outside my state for 3months and did not want to stay in an hotel for that long, for my own personal safety and that of equipments l use to do my work)

Be clearer, l sense you're in "serious need" and l abhor those who think anyone who does not take their advice, is a crook! angry

How about the suggested "student accom" Why dont you like that? (I guess it could be costlier sha, as far back as 1995 when l was doing P.G at Unilag, Henry Car PG Hall was 60grand/bed space, a session (even sharing!), dont know what it will cost now. Under-G was 45K then)
Goodluck wink

Hmmmm, na God go save us o! I thougth they said it is "for better, for worse, till death do us apart"?
What is all these if you dont have money/job, you're not entitled to love and be loved"? You're not even entitled to impregnate your wife! shocked

So, this is how materialistic we have gone?
OK ooooo.

@Poster; Many people have given you advice, the sensible types, useless types, insulting types, "amebo" types and even some are gloating at you!
To the last group, l can only say that "If things are well for you, dont call your paddy a failure"! AND Yorubas say" it is even better to have good in-laws than even a good wife"

The ebst advice are those that made it abundantly clear to you: Do EVERYTHING YOU CAN to get a job! Even if its to go and "carry load" at Idumota, Lagos or do Bus Conductor or even go and carry cement anywhere they are building a house! Anything apart from stealing, that will put money in your pocket.

I actually "Thank God for you", at least you know your "FRIENDS" early enough in life, now that you're still strong, middle-age and still full of life! What if these happened when you're like 60yrs old, wetin you go do? grin
Meeen, you go wash plate and "arrange chairs when your in-laws and doing family meeting O! grin grin

At times, "we dont value what we have until we loose it". If your wife does not appreciate your value, just because you are experiencing "the valleys of your life", l think she does not deserve you in the first place: TAKE A WALK AND LET HER STICK TO HER FAMILY.

Go far-far away, go squat with friends, PUNISH YOURSELF so you can imbibe the lesson that "FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!"
Be "desperate in looking for any work that would earn you money", be "desperate in working hard", be "desperate in being thrifty" with the little you make (I recommend you read books like "Rich Dad, Poor Dad, "What Rich people teach their kids, that poor ones dont, e.t.c so that as you begin to earn little money, you dont start expending it on "non-essentials or ostentations".).

Be prayerful, have faith in God (notice l did not say become a church "follower" or else the little you make will also get pimped off you by the "Chief Executive Pimper" grin ), just have a "personal relationship" with God.

Before l forget, as a matter of honor, send something to your children (through your wife or a trusted person or just buy their needs for then; school books, uniform, food and some cash), DONT EVER take it out on your children.

You should Come back here on NL and share your testimony with us (we no dey collect 10% or offering, we will just hail and thank God on your behalf wink wink ) and do remember that basket mouth called "Lastpage" shocked shocked wink

I have seen this happen too many times, to too many men.
You either take your destiny in your own hand or you become "Baba London" grin

May the Lord guide and give you wisdom.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Ghaddafi Orders Jet Fighters To Bombard Protesting Civilians In Libya by lastpage: 4:35pm On Feb 23, 2011
At this moment, one F1 Mirrage Fighter Jet has ditched into the ocean.
There is another "Civil" Libyan aircraft circling off the coast of Malta and not being allowed to land. Peeps not sure of the "cargo on board".
Italian Naval vessels have formed a cordon around Malta, which is the closest to Libya (off Africa)
Europeans are "meeting" on HOW TO PREVENT LIBYANS RUNNING FROM THEIR COUNTRY, FROM ENTERING MALTA OR EUROPE! grin
Even the price of Petrol/Gas is doubling all over the world but especially in Europe and U.S!

What do l see in all these?
"Beware of what you wish for" wink

These same countries where the ones "urging chaos and violent Revolution" in Libya, a few days ago!
but now, they are concerned about the humanitarian catastrophe and "want to prevent these same people from coming on board"?

C'mmon, you cant eat your cake and have it!

What if they had supported the Libyans (or any other Muslim country) to undergo NON-VIOLENT AND DEMOCRATIC CHANGES, like we have in Europe and U.S.? Would we have these kind of human disaster?

I say: Beware of what you wish for, you might get it and might end up not liking it!

I hope Ghadafi will step-up the plate and talk to his people, that he is ready to resign and resign NOW, while the people should CALM DOWN and not burn their own country, just to prove a point.

BTW: I really feel sorry for his SON, a PHD Graduate at London School of Economics, very much liked and contributed generously to that school (even built a Library for them and an endowment) BUT now has to choose between his LOVE AND LOYALTY to his FATHER AND BLOOD, and his Country and people!
I wish no one is ever put into that situation.
If it were you, honestly speaking, what would you do? Would you throw your father under the Bus and disgrace him out of office or would you stick with your blood?
I think the best solution to this problem would not come from "confrontation and posturing", it will come from consultation!

WHY? Some of these "old men" feel they dont deserve to be disgraced out of office/life (looking at the sacrifice they had done for their country in the past!).
Maybe we could "work-out" a "soft-landing" for these fallen heroes like Mubarrak and Ghadafi?
I think its just about their bruised ego! (l will die here bla-bla-bla)
The "West" dont want that, they are enjoying these tragedy and disgrace of African heritage, at least it makes them feel superior and confirms the notion that we are "lower beings" who can not manage themselves!.
Its a SHAME.

@texazzpete
INEC registered approx 67 million people. Dividing 5 billion naira by this number of people gives a unit cost per card of 73 Naira.

I don't think 73 Naira per card is too terrible a sum.
You're talking of two different things here. The calculation you've done is to estimate the unit cost to register one Nigerian. And i agree with you that it's rather high.
My calculation was done on the incremental cost and the reason for the cost. All I did was a simple analysis to determine if the plastic card cost was inflated. And it doesn't seem inflated at all.
The highlighted parts refers:
Whaaat?
This is day-light somersault!
I hope you re-read yourself and come out honestly that your comments were "ill-considered"?
There is NO WHERE in your original post where you said or implied that you were referring to an "incremental cost".

Its no easy to do "fuzzy mathematics" nowadays, people have simply become smarter! grin grin

BTW: I will not also conclude that Jega is a thief, even when it appears so (due to this unending request for Billions of naira!).
I guess a better evaluation will be to ask: What did he do with the initial vote?
Was it used wisely? Did we have value for such large sum? Was performance anywhere near expectations?

If the answer to any of the above questions is YES, then "he who is truthful/reliable with a small amount will be assumed to be same, even with larger amounts".

if l may just add, first he wanted electronic voting machines (quite sound judgment, now he is trying to have a change of heart!), then he bought old and outdated PIII Laptops which keeps freezing and breaking down (like the one my Dad passed on to me in 1990 grin after years of reliable service), then the Printer he bought was the "Deskjet series", the very slow types, as against color-laser Printers, then the "power solution" to power this equipment in the field was a disaster as most INEC Registers are just sitting there watching whenever the power drains out or "Nepa do as usual"!
Even his "internet solution" and "Backend Server-software/Hardware" needs critical re-evaluation!

The bottom line to the above "facts" is that he comes across (or his executive assistants (monkeys)) as COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT!
Incompetency l must say, is worse that being fraudulent!
A fraud would steal the money for himself. grin grin
An "incompetent person" simply wastes the money and does not even benefit himself! shocked shocked
DOUBLE JEOPARDY!

Either way, the country is the looser.
What Jega is doing is "highly technical" and except he has the right people, with good intentions, assisting him, we will just be going round in circles, while wasting scarce funds.
Just my thoughts.

I think at times, we need to sit down and re-educate ourselves about the "original meaning of DEMOCRACY" since that is the excuse that is usually used by the West and some Western powers, to invade another country!

As we speak now, there is a BRITISH ROYAL NAVAL "FRIGATE" DEPLOYED OFF THE COAST OF LIBYA!
If that is not provocation, then may be someone will help me out!

Correct me if l am wrong but the ONLY definition of DEMOCRACY that l have read about says "IT IS A GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, ELECTED BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE".

I guess the most important phrase here is "ELECTED by the People".
That is what makes the U.S government or any other democratic government LEGITIMATE.

That being the case, when HAMAS (an Islamic organization in Palestine) was ELECTED BY ITS PEOPLE WHY ON EARTH DID THE US AND OTHER EUROPEAN GOVERNMENT TRY TO CRIPPLE THAT DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED GOVERNMENT? EVen as we speak, that government has been reduced to nothing, simply because they dont buy American "prescription"!
Did l hear you say "Terrorist"?

Or is it another set of definition for those people?
A definition that sounds like "Democracy is the government of the people, elected by the people BUT subject to AMERICAN APPROVAL, for the People"!

When the "ratings" of Barak Obama sank to about 30%, (at which point we can say he has lost his popularity thus, legitimacy!), why did the West not incite Americans to an Uprising. why did their TV's, TWITTER and FaceBook not contact the "dissidents' to remove him by force?
Why would they have to wait till 2012, TO VOTE HIM OUT(?)

When British Labour and their coalition friends reneged on their ELECTION PROMISE (on the basis on which they got the people's vote) to REDUCE TUITION FEES but did a volte-face and increased it three fold, and the people protested, WHY DID WE NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF MASSIVE INCITEMNET FROM OUTSIDE U.K?

Why did we not have every Tom, Dick and Harry making comments and giving ultimatums to the British PM?
Is it because it is a WESTERN DEMOCRACY?

Why must it be spontaneous, bloody and immediate in other countries, especially Muslim countries?
When IBB "maradona" us for 9years and Abacha nearly killed everyone, especially in Lagos, where were this vocal democrats? Why did they not send in their Marines and warship? grin

Those, my friend, are the deeper Questions that needs meditation.

Naaah, source the goose, source the gander! Period
Just say "NO", to DOUBLE STANDARDS!

We should allow the people to determine who rules them.
Not by incitement, not by imposition, not by stirring up trouble BUT by legitimate and democratic means: ELECTIONS!

Selective Amnesia is one of the greatest disease among Nigerians, supposedly educated ones at that!

Can someone in the house "remind us" that the U. S imposed a NO FLY ZONE between Northern Iraq (Kurdistan) and Southern Iraq (Shites)?
Please, some with good & functional memory should remind the house. This was in "March 1991", and the Resolution on No FLY ZONE was clause 8.
Any kindergarten pupil with a computer that can use Google, should use the words "No FLY ZONE IRAQ"!

I think we actually need to "think critically" before applying our fingers to that damn keyboard!
It amazes me when peeps still "echo rumors like a broken record" and repeat verbatim, what others have said. This is the height of ignorance!
I believe by now, EVERYONE would have listened to an English transcript of what the man at the center of the storm said, about 2-3hrs ago.

HE SAID HE DID NOT ORDER THE ARMY OR USE OF LIVE AMMUNITION AGAINST HIS PEOPLE!
Until there is concrete proof, no matter how lunatic he is/was, common sense and legal jurist would agree that HE WILL ENJOY THE BENFIT FO DOUBT.

Even Fidel catsro (of Cuba) just said about ten minutes ago, that UNTIL: WE ARE VERY SURE OF WHAT IS GOING ON, we cannot make pronunciations on the situation! Same thing was said by the Venezuelan President.

Again, anyone with a VIDEO of Airplanes/Warships/Helicopter Gunboats SHOOTING Civilians can Upload it here for all of us to evaluate but meanwhile,
LET ALL IGNORANT RUMORS BE PUT IN ABEYANCE!

I dont appreciate public display of ignorance and it is not compulsory that WE MUST CONTRIBUTE ON EVERY TOPIC posted, even when it is very evident that we are shallow and ungrounded in international politics.

@Lagosboy.
Thanks man. I hope he has the "dignity to voluntarily step-down"
. He has over-stayed his welcome grin
Any leader, once the led have passed a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in you, you have a moral obligation to step down.
Ruling a country is not as simple as being the CEO of a household. Even then, at times, there are "issues beyond what can be put in the public domain" and leaders (real ones with legitimacy) can see beyond what the common man on the street knows and therefore refuse to budge!

For example, assuming EVERY IRAQI man knew that U.S was making up stories about WMD, assuming ALL OF US "observers" knew that Gen. Collin Powell was manufacturing evidence when he showed us those MOBILE WMD TRUCKS, back then, will they/we have supported that invasion of Iraq?
I bet most people wouldn't! What if SADDAM has access to such info/manipulations and therefore decides he wont leave, thats its just a ploy to weaken his country and any challenge towards Israels hegemony in the Middle East, would we believe him or wont we have called him a "sit-tight"?

Thats the point l am making about not jumping to conclusions when you dont have all the facts or you're been fed mere propaganda

The last time we heard that was in IRAQ and we ll know what happened! U.S never stopped until Sad-man Saddam was hanged!
Dont America "learn" that this kind of silly statements are counter-productive, especially in Muslim/Arab countries?
Do we want another Afghanistan or Iraq in Africa?

*Did they impose one when The Chineese decided that their country's Unity was more important, and used TANKS in Tienanmen Square, in China?

Once again, l am appalled by the level of reasoning of many people on NL!
CAN WE JUST LOOK BEYOND THE SURFACE?
We should not risk coming across as being daft and gullible that we will just swallow ANYTHING, hook, line and sinker!

I apologize if l come across as "rude" (which is generally not my demeanor) but l hope anyone will understand that right now, I AM ANGRY!

WHY?
First: Lets put these whole "REVOLUTION" into context.
1.) It started in Tunisia, got copied in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Lebanon, (cooking in Syria, Iran) then Libya.
2.) These are ALL Arabic/Muslim countries and we cant pretend we dont know their traditional/cultural/moral collisions with the West.
3.)Apart from Tunisia which was "spontaneous", all other ones are "instigated, propagated, support and even financed" from outside (The U.S announced 2weeks ago or so, it is increasing the amount of money it sets aside to support "activist" (another word for dissidents, saboteurs and foreign agents used to internally destabilize a country) by $30Million. ASK YOURSELF, HOW AND WHAT EXACTLY DO THEY DO WITH THESE MONEY?

4.) if there is "DISCONTENT" with a government in the West (just like we have with Obama V.s the Tea Party recently) do the people "violently overthrow" the government? Do other people finance (or have the right to) finance citizens who are against the current government OR do they wait till the next election to VOTE THEM OUT?
Recent Tuition fee increase in the U.K caused a lot of massive demonstration (and we say it all on T.V), did Nigerian or Egyptian or Russian government "comment, incite or encourage" the protesters? (even some of them were arrested and charged to court for criminal offenses). Why is it different when it comes to "Africans or Muslim countries"? Is it one law for them and another for the Western countries?

5.) Does anyone not know that there have been recent issues between U.K/U.S and Libya, especially with the Libyan, Lockerbie Bomber who was freed so U.K can exploit Libya's oil and then turn around to demand he be returned? What do you think this kind of people will do, at the slightest sign of a "crack" in the polity?
6.)On the issue "BLACK MERCENARIES"; Before now, we are aware that "White/fair-skinned North Africans (including Sudanese in central Africa, reason they recently voted to divide the country!) have a very deep dislike for Black/dark skinned citizens of their countries? Are we not aware that they have these "misplaced superiority complex" and think the darker ones are "lesser humans"? Do we not "experience" the same thing even in Nigeria, with our North-South dichotomy? How much more in North Africa? So, who best to blame for "inhumanity" than the same "black people"?

6.) There have been "stories" of massive human rights violation in Libya. We've heard that "Fighter Jets and Helicopter Gunships" have been used to attack the population. Is this a fact, propaganda or fiction?
Anyone who watched the "Shock and Awe" bombing of Iraq during the invasion will easily see the deceit in all these stories.
These "machines" dont kill in twos or threes, they kill in hundreds and to imagine that they are used on a "street with thousands of Protesters", then the death toll will equally be in the thousands! but so far, we have a tally of just over 200+, after about 3days of "bombing"! grin LKWMD

The Libyan authority has said it only "bombed/destroyed/neutralized" military depots that were ransacked by looters so that the arms and ammunition there-in, would not be put to use against their own security agents. They did not target civilians or any human! But inorder to garner public sympathy, they chose to manipulate the truth, and we all swallow it too?!

7.) Ask yourself, where is all these "news" coming from? Are these sources credible? How come we did not see any VIDEO FOOTAGE of a Jet fighter "IN THE ACT" of bombing people (even if its from a mobile phone). How come its ONLY DEFECTORS that are telling us these "unsubstantiated stories"?

8.) Again, why did the U.K foreign Secretary "set up rumors" that the Libyan Gadafi has ran away from Libya, to Venezeula? Is it not to give a feeling of "fait accompli", that the revolution has succeeded? But The Man himself came out to tell us, l dey kampe  grin Even the Venezeulan govt has denied that farce! What was his interest and that of Britain in this matter, that he had to go that far?

9.) Looking at the picture of the "captured mercenary", do they look like YOU AND ME (being black Africans) or is this just another attempt to "colour me bad", since l am black?
Why are they "emphasizing" the "blackness" of that mercenary? Does Ghadafi have a history of likeness for dark-skinned Africans? NO!
How then can it now be the same set of people that are his mercenaries? Do we not know that Ghadafi has all sorts of trained, private security force (some are even Israelis, female, e.t.c , and can anyone recall the retinue of security men/women, that he brought to Nigeria, just a while ago?).

10.) The government has been accused of severing ALL COMMUNICATION LINKS yet "foreign-based commentators" keep telling us of how they called their family members in Libya, from the U.S and elsewhere, using normal phone-lines? Very contradictory and indicative of a massive propaganda!
Why was the U.S and E.U countries "first, more concerned with whether the new government after the revolution in Egypt, will be friendly towards Israel or not"? Does it not show us that its all about "selfish interest" and not "democracy and freedom" as the West claim?

11)Again, can we not see that "opportunist and traitors" are at work in these North African Revolutions? How on earth can you explain Ambassadors who are selected and posted to foreign countries by Ghadafi, to foreign lands, for years, without complain, suddenly turning against him from such foreign posts YET refusing to RESIGN!
Why did they not "speak-out" before now or when Tunisia was boiling?
Why is it now that they sense an opportunity, that Ghadafi's regime is gasping for breath?
Are these the kind of people that will now call themselves "revolutionist" so they can benefit from whats going on?(and they are all just posturing to grab political offices!)
I detest cowards, traitors, opportunist and turn-coats!
How do you explain all these "foreign-based government officials suddenly stabbing their own government in the back?
Just because they now see where the "wind is blowing"?
You cannot criticize a government that you're a part of (at least until the "People" took to the street). You should resign first and then tackle the government. This is what "fair-play and equity" demands

11.) Why did we not hear of "BLACK SECURITY" people in Libya, all these years, where did they suddenly spring from?
Did Ghadafi ferry them from Nigeria all of a sudden or are they Boko Harram grin

12.) Again, has anyone noticed the "difference in rhetoric" from countries in the E.U and U.S, when they speak about the "protest" in Libya and then in Bahrain! How come the tone is "subtle and reconciliatory" when it concerns Bahrain but very inflammatory, provocative and inciting when it comes to Libya?  (Both are ruled by dictators and sit-tights BUT one contains a U.S Naval strategic base (sixth fleet) and the other has no visible U.S interest!).
In fact, it was Bahrain that sent armed forces to attack protesters, while they were sleeping at the Square, in the night, using live ammunitions but THEY PLAYED IT DOWN IN THE MEDIA, no wonder Ghadafi referred to these media as "Dog Media"!

13.)Again, let us not forget that Libya itself is NOT a homogeneous entity like Egypt. They are just like Nigeria (with a seething undercurrent of civil war between Northern Libya (Tripoli) and Southern Libya (Benghazi areas). Some are taking these "protest" as an opportunity to "divide and secede" from the country. Some of them are very light-skinned while others are of a darker shade BUT THEY ARE ALL LIBYANS!
Some are just trying to 'inject' the ethnic/race/color angle into these protest, so as to gain more momentum.

14.) What happened in Tunisia and even right now in Libya is no different from what happened (is happening now in Belarus), the sit-tight President has rigged elections, killed oppositions and jailed others BUT the E.U or U.S is NOT promoting "chaos/revolution" over there! wink
They know better, that one is Europe naah!

While l do not favor dictatorship, while l am 100% for freedom, democracy and rule of law
, l think there is a "deeper design" than what goes on in the surface. The common man has been used as a "canon-fodder" for too long!
This is the current focus of this rejoinder.

In summary,
*Let us not jump to conclusions.
*Let us "see the big picture" and put hings in perspective.
*Let us not fall for any manipulation by vested interests.
*Let us be 'hasty' to listen but very 'reluctant/slow' to speak/comment!
*Let us be wary of "Western Media" and be able to sift through some of the propaganda they sometime feed us. Remember, you 're only as informed as what you hear or read about! grin
*Let us be wary of those who promote "chaos" in our country (to resolve legitimate problems) but who themselves will never use such method but will  rather resort to democratic and legal means. At the end of the day, we would have o live and pay for whatever damage we cause to ourselves!
*Let us educate people from the West that "Africa" is a "continent" (not one country), made up of as many as 54 countries and counting. They should stop referring to one

BTW: I am neither Muslim, anti-West or a Libyan grin grin
I just choose to  look at issues from a dispassionate point of view.

I took the issue "too personal" but on second thought, l felt "our people" dont really like the TRUTH (as in the hard truth).

I feel for the parents. Its sad when you remember that "tiny tot" in your hands, when he was barely one week old, and what he now turns out to be!

Every year, what we hear is "Excellent growth of 7%  grin " and "Inflation is down to single digit" shocked shocked
But show me the excellent growth when:
1.) more and more are unemployed
2.) Infrastructures like roads, Hospitals, Water, Housing e.t.c keeps degenerating!
3.)Power has gone down so badly, every house now has a generator!
4.)Insecurity in on the increase with more sophisticated, deadly attacks that leaves a whole town massacred!

Show me the reducing inflation naah! Or dont we all know that
5.) A bag of Rice has constantly doubled in price every two years since 1999?
6.) Ordinary pepper (Tomatoes, Onions, Red oil, e.t.c) to cook a pot of stew demands a budget in the rate of 5% of your monthly income!
7.) Bread, has gotten smaller in size, lighter in weight and yet higher in price, but inflation is low huh
8.) Take Garri, that "poorest" man's diet! Its so costly now that rich  people use it to show-off! grin
9.)Has anyone been taking public transport lately? (Not the govt subsidized BRT in Lagos, l mean "private" public transport),. Prices are so high you wonder if it was referring to the cost of a large sized chicken?

I think those that bandy these figures (especially our CBN and Government Economists) either are "artful-forgers" or they live in another world!
There is certainly a disconnect between the figures and reality.

Show me the money! The IMF is a long-discredited organization and as of two weeks ago, its Head admitted that its policy in the third world IS A FAILURE and here we are again,  TAKING ADVISE FROM THEM!

BTW: ANY Country that does not have a very strong "Manufacturing Base" already in-place, should NEVER consider devaluation of its currency!
You will never get the desire benefit
We did it before, under IBB and we are still paying the price till today.
Maybe thats what we need to instigate a REVOLUTION in Nigeria wink

After a few pages, l will like to give "an award" to the most pertinent answer (one that tallies with current reality!) on this topic.

So far, l have been rolling with laughter, from one corner to another, reading some of the comments!
Take for example:
1.) Proof of ownership! Na Car huh
2.) Evidence of enslavement! Wetin, show me the love please tongue
3.) It should have an expiry date! Haaba, Na DRUG?
4.) "In case of "awon abelejayan" your marriage certificate asserts and backs any claim that you are married"! This one hard O! Fishmongers embarassed
5.) "should be replaced with marriage contract which specifies the KPIs of the parties involved in the marriage and the conditions for divorce". You be one of those Abuja Contractor! grin  How can you be thinking of "divorce" when you're just planning a wedding?
6.) "it seems is more beneficial to woman than men."! Benefit ke? I thought its about LOVE nwan-tintin huh
7.) "@Busy_body. prove 2 who?" ; "wait oh, i'm coming, i will be back soon"! Walahi, this is like doing U-TURN on a Motorway!
8.) "marriage certificate is a paper that reminds a man of his slavery and the woman of her future asset "! shocked shocked This is SCARY!
9.) "it's definitely leverage for a woman when it comes to "what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine" laws! This cant be true!! INJUSTICE shocked
10.) "The marriage certificate is the ULTIMATE, global, utility stampage for the legitimization of YOUR children and your future generation" Shooo! One couple took theirs to the Canadian Embassy, to do the usual "paternity test" for people intending to settle in Canada and results showed that NONE OF THE THREE CHILDREN were his own! grin Well, "marriage" scattered right from the gate of the Embassy"! Shine your eyes on that Cert Pls shocked shocked
11.) "I knew a couple then that hanged theirs in their sitting room"! More like that "Beware of Dogs" signage in the front gate wink Because of "Awon abeleja-yan"! grin
12.) "we use it to light a candle on valentines day"! I bet this couple wont be doing many Valentines!! grin grin Go buy a Cigarette lighter pls or better still, set the whole house on fire and use it to light the Valentine candle---- hic-hic-hic grin
13.) Its the only certificate u collect before writing the exam and then u use all your life to defend that certificate! This is scandalous! grin shocked

Please, lets have more of these weird reasons!

Cant you people stop "taking the bait"?
GEJ talk and all of you are going wild?
Now, Tinubu insults "a sitting president" and all of you turn on yourselves like Tribal "Lord of War"?

The thing is all these "yabis" are nothing but political gangsterism and if any one of you "little citizens" get caught up in it, then you are truly silly!
if anyone or any party think they can "play the tribal card", they would get a shocker on election day!

It just like in those days: When Sunny Ade wax a record, Ebenezer Obey's fans will say "he is insulting Obey"!
And before you know it, they are fighting themselves!
Ebenezer Obey will in-turn produce his own record and Sunny Ade's fans will say he has replied and insulted their "baba"! shocked Another round of poor-man's fight will start!

Meanwhile, both Sunny and Obey are selling their records and swelling their bank accounts;
While the silly masses continue to BUY RECORDS AND FIGHT ALL DAY grin grin grin

C'mmon, we are in 2010 naah, not 1974 angry angry

Mschew, some of my readers dont even know who Sunny or Obey are, they can only remember  "Three-face"! grin huh

Politics › Re: Sarah Jibril: “my One Vote Will Continue To Haunt Nigerian Women” by lastpage: 2:50am On Feb 18, 2011
@luluosas
Shame to Mrs Jonathan, who is deceiving the ordinary Nigerian women with her Women For Change Initiative. You are clamouring for 35% affirmative policy for women either for elective or appointment position and yet you could not give your one vote to a woman like you.
Come to think of it. Was madam Saral thinking that she will win the primary? Not at all. But, her position over the outcome of the primary is what she is not happy about. She was really humiliated by the pdp women delegates. May her one vote continue to haunt them! Yeye women delegates.
Nairalanders, do you know that, before the pdp presidential primary election started that day, some shameless pdp women delegates were annoyed that, some States did not have up to 4 women as deligates for the election. What surprised me was the outcome of that election that, not even a single vote was mistakenly cast for madam Saral. It is a pity.
Not again!
Wait, why is that when it suits (some) women, they will claim equality with men but in other circumstance, they will claim INequality and "disadvantaged"?
This flip-flop has to STOP!
Looking for "Affirmative action" is saying "look, we are weaker and disadvantaged and cannot compete fairly"!
Is this true?
Do we want to go down that road of saying "one humanbeing is more equal than another"?
Is this not an insult to women?

Ooh, did l hear you say women are allowed to flip at will but men are barrel-chested and therefore not allowed! grin
But what about those things on women's chest? I call that "DOUBLE-BARREL-CHESTED
" shocked shocked shocked

Christianity Etc › Re: Adeboye Warns Corrupt Politicians by lastpage: 9:39pm On Feb 14, 2011
When it comes to the issue of RELIGION, ALL REASONING IS LOST!

If l can bring in a little decorum: Let us all attend to ISSUES,
ASK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS, POLITELY, with respect to one another;
Without any presumption of I.T.K. (l too know) or TMTA (Too Much To Ask!).

It is only by asking (and answering) questions that we would all learn and be elevated beyond our current level of ignorance sad
Even the Bible said "Seek the Truth (Ask) and it shall set you FREE!"

Let me post a few Questions also:
*Are there "fake Pastors" or not?
*Is it anyone who calls himself a "man of God"/Pastor, that is actually of God?
*Did the Bible predict these preponderance of fake Church leaders or not?
*Did the Bible provide "CLUES" on how true Christians can identify these fake church leaders or not
*Do we know these clues and are we guided by them?
*Can light (true worshipers of God) and darkness (agents of satan) co-habitate? Bibles says NO!
*Will it do us much good if actually we can sieve the "true Christians/children of God (seed) from the Charlatans, opportunist, Pimps, money spinners, con-artists (chaff), so that our lives will be really enriched by knowing the true God?

Pls Note:
The Bible NEVER debar us from asking questions or investigating those "professing" to represent Christ, no matter how elevated!
Its no use saying "dont ask, dont tell", thats certainly un-biblical and the height of lazy-ignorance.

Finally, let us as Christians, READ our Bible, question and properly examine it, imbibe the knowledge in it because it says in that same BIBLE:
Those who serve the father in TRUTH SHALL NEVER GO HUNGRY! (As in the "final analysis" of things!.

How come there is so much hunger in Nigeria (as led by our christian leaders/churches/Mosques) while the Caucasians/West/ pagans who hardly go to church are getting richer and enjoying a better standard of living?

SOMETHING IS SURELY WRONG SOMEWHERE, NO MATTER HOW LONG WE WANT TO PLAY THE "OSTRICH".
Cheers, everyone.
