@bermuda 1
@Lastpage

Sorry I saw your reply late and I dont know how to insert quotes but I will try and answer some of your questions

1. You said most homosexuals in Nigeria are either mixed race or people who have lived abroad. omo shine your eye. Homo full Naija. Even for village homo dey. People who went to boarding school would have heard of "SUPE" and homosexuality was rife. I think we like to live in denial and think homosexuality is a foreign disease. It’s a human thing and there are homosexuals in every race. The main difference is that people try as much as possible to suppress it in Naija. So when u discover you might be a homo is either they say witchcraft is worrying you or you quickly enter seminary. After all Father no dey marry so nobody will raise an eyebrow

2. Its funny how people can dig up all the verses in the bible to castigate homos but forget the bible when they are giving and receiving bribes. They forget the bible when they are looking for expo to write Jamb.

3. Its strange that people find any activity between to consenting adults to be the worst sin in the world but find paedophilia to be part of culture and see nothing wrong in it. Everyday in Nigeria there are people who are using and abusing underage children for sex in the name of "golden eaglets" or "the young shall grow". Paedophilia is a very big problem in Naija but like everything else it’s because it between and adult MALE and Female child so it’s all right. After all na man and woman

4. I maintain that homosexuality is a victimless crime (that is if you view it as a crime in the first place). As long as it practised by 2 consenting adults in the privacy of their own bedroom, how does it affect the price of garri in the market? If a gay starts toasting you or starts rubbing or pestering you then you have a right to be offended. However, how somebody decides to live his or her life should not give you a headache. Some people hate girls that don’t have big nyash, should we castigate that group too.

Lets put the bible away to one side for the time being because anyone can interpret it to suit any opinion they have. The same bible says judge not and you will not be judged

My main point is not one of condoning but one of tolerance. Being tolerant of gays is not the same as accepting the lifestyle. What we need as a society is a bit of maturity.  You may not like gays but they have as much right as anybody to exist. It is not for you to pass judgement but for God in heaven to decide.

We have to be more tolerant of people who are different from us. We should be able to say, you are Christian, I am Muslim, I may not agree with your religion but you dey your side and me dey my side make everybody follow their own lane. In the same way we have to be able to say, you are Hausa and I am Yoruba, I don’t really care much about you guys but hey we are all Naija and whatever you do is for your own pocket as long as you no affect my pocket
Hi My Bruvda,

There are too many contradictions in your statement that l dont even know where to start!
#2 up there has NOTHING to do with this discussion EXCEPT you are trying to tell me something! grin
I went to the University when all these una "expo" never arrive! We read and read, day and night like our life depended on it (and really, it does!). I bet if you read all my post, you could glean that l am not one of those half-baked, expo-Graduates. Nuff said on that.

Again, on #3, l dont know why in every case of Homosexuality, peeps always try to surreptitiously "force it down our throats" by comparing it to "freedom of speech" or "right of choice"? They are not related and Homosexuality is simply a PERVERSION!

In one stretch, you asked that "We do away with the Bible" and in another stretch, you are talking about "God and his instructions to us not to pass judgment"! Why are you Flip-flopping naah?
Anyway, l cannot do away with the Bible grin .
If you want to base your "reasoning" on some "Highway Code" then so be it, please enjoy yourself wink
Light and darkness sincerely, have nothing in common! (No pun intended)

And finally, dont get confused about your Bible or did you not read where it says, "Examine/test/judge all teachings and hold-on to that which is TRUE"

I did not "interpret" the Bible is my last post, I only brought to the surface (quoted), those places where God condemned HOMOSEXUALITY as a punishable perversion (for the benefit of those who might want to actually read their own Bible at home)

or AM I THE ONE THAT WROTE THOSE VERSES IN THE BIBLE?

Abegii oo, "left me alone" jare grin

BTW: To quote a sentence or phrase: type the following before the sentence :  [.quote];
End the sentence in the same way but with a "forward slash" before the word 'quote'. Like this:  [./quote]
dont include the dot pls.

-and you're good to go. Cheers.

^^^^^^ What kind of silly rationalization is this?
So, it has now become the responsibility of a GOVERNOR to build TOILETS in a Ministry?

What about the Commissioner for that Ministry?
What about the D.G. for that Ministry?
What about the Secretary for that Ministry?
What about the Local Govt Chairman, for that area?

All the above people have no role in providing public toilet in a Ministry EXCEPT A GOVERNOR? huh huh

I wonder if people dont reason at times, before they start yapping with their mouths.
You may dislike OGD (and l dont give a hoot about that "cultist and non-performer"wink  BUT please, try to express your dislike in a reasonable and sensible way that at least shows that you went to primary school.

Having said that, there is a saying that "Those who come to equity, must do so with clean hands"!

I am not OGD's spokesman but OBJ is spending part of his "Prison time" in the open already!.
From fake power projects to fake "privatization" of Government companies like NITEL, to his part in that corrupt agenda called TRANSCORP, to sleeping with female members of his cabinet who are other people's wives,
to how he suddenly went from a bankrupt Obasanjo Farms Nigeria O.F.N. (or need l remind us that it was formerly a government financed project called Operation Feed the Nation O.F.N.  when OBJ was a military Head of State huh ), to a multi Billionaire who has a University, a Library and tens of other business, including a Refinery in another W-African state!
(Yes, while he "killed the nations refineries", he was increasing the price of the fuel we import/buy from his own refinery, 7-times within 8years!)
This guy reeks from head to toe!

So, it is now that EFCC can suddenly be "very active"?
Maybe "another Ribadu is in the making"  grin

We dignify that criminal too much, no wonder he thinks he is Mr. Muscle! grin cheesy

"What a man can do, a woman can do even better" Very true!!

The problem here is that "your husband is a serial cheater" (like OBJ grin ) and l can bet he would cheat till he rests in peace!
I dont know if any man would still want to cheat with you (when you're BABA's age, 70+) or whether you would even be able to feel a thing, if "charged"?

Family › Re: Moving Out From Parent's House- Your Experience! by lastpage: 9:02pm On Feb 07, 2011
As a "Mummy's boy, original", l did not move out at all! grin
I was always in-and-out briefly: Stayed on Campus during University days and spent one year (with 2months break at home) NYSC.

Everything has its Pros & Cons.
Staying close to "Mama" means from around age 10, l could cook virtually any kind of food, including ceremonial family dinners.
Staying at home (even after securing a very lucrative job) means l could save money "rapidly" (limited expenses) and since l am fully "domesticated", l spend less money on eating out! grin
I think it also "reduced my vices" as "Mama" would watch over me like an Eagle! No binge drinking or hanging out with the "wolves"! angry angry
And Pupsy was very strict and can sniff you out from ten miles, like some "wicked Alsatian" gringrin God bless his soul. kiss kiss

I was a kind of "money doubler" business minded, always looking for how l can turnover part of my "feeding allowance" so l could spend it and still have it!  Even from University days, l was always borrowing friends money, even when their own weekly allowance was more than mine! And l collect small, non-taxable "interest" on it grin grin

The greatest positive it had in my life was that I moved from my "one room" family-house, to a house l built with my own money wink
Well, my parents helped me oversee the land purchase and those wild-eyed artisans.
It makes me feel proud that l got married in a house l built for myself (not a mansion anyway) and l did not borrow a car for my wedding, l used my own car and it was a car in vogue back then grin

If the poster is my kind of person, l will say: Dont get bothered and dont set "age limits" for yourself; Just ensure that you take advantage of the opportunity it presents.
Why will l want to pay #450,000+ for a two year, two-bed, self contained in Lagos when l can add small money to it and buy some land in the outskirts of Lagos? Seems short-term foolish to me but then, l no be the typical "happening guy"!

Wish u da-best.

BTW: if you feel compelled to move-out early, stay close to where you have good friends and/or relatives, there is safety in numbers, you know?
Romance › Re: Help I Am A Woman And I Am Attracted To Other Women by lastpage: 6:33pm On Feb 07, 2011
@bermuda1
Please before anybody labels me, I am nog gay or lesbian. Full time hetero I am.

Why is it that we Africans find homosexuality as the worst sin in the world. We will condone violence, stealing, adultery, violation etc but when it gets to homosexuality which in most cases is a victimless crime, we start invoking Jesus and the devil

What makes it a greater sin than the others?
Whatever you're trying to "get at", l think you should come out in the open!
Such generalizations would not suddenly make those deviant behaviors acceptable!

Thank God that you're not a pervert (?) and you acknowledge that it is a CRIME
But you betray your real self by claiming the crime has no victim!
what about the moral debasing of younger ones who are in observance of such "criminal" acts? Dont children get influenced by, and copy what adults say and do?

Before l answer your "smart question", l will also ask you: Why is it that it is "mostly" people who have traveled to (or mixed with) people from the Western Countries, that support such deviant behavior like Homosexuality? (it is legal in most western countries, you know!)

Having said that, "WE" dont CONDONE Violence, stealing, adultery, violation (thats why we enact laws to punish such (also deviant) behaviors! Thas why we have the Judiciary arm of government. Thats why we have a constitution.
We also put in place a criminal process to prosecute those caught doing so though we need to get rid of corrupt "enforcers" (law enforcement agents) who bastardize the process.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again the reason peeps "invoke Jesus" when people like you try to push your devilish behavior down others throat is that, they read their Bible and being the "Constitution of Christians" (since you mentioned Jesus!), they know it is expressly stated in the Bible, to abstain from such behavior.
Leviticus 18:
Verse 22:  Do not lie with a man, as one lies with a woman; that is detestable in the eyes of the Lord. then verse 29
Verse 23: Do not have sexual relations with an animal (Bestiality) and defile yourself with it. A woman MUST NOT present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; it is PERVERTION
Verse 29: ANYONE who does any of these DETESTABLE things, such persons MUST be cut-off ( ) from their people! huhhuh??I am the Lord, Your God.
Again and for emphasis, the Book of Romans also says he same.
Romans 1: 24. "Therefore, God GAVE THEM OVER TO THE SINFUL DESIRES OF THEIR HEART, to sexual impurity for the DEGRADING of their bodies with one another.
1: 26. Because of this, God gave them over to SHAMEFUL LUST! Even their "women exchange NATURAL RELATIONS FOR UNNATURAL ONEShuh??and were "inflamed with lust" for one another.
1:27. In the same way, men also abandoned NATURAL RELATIONS WITH WOMEN and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed INDECENT ACTS with OTHER MEN and received in themselves the DUE PENALTY for heir perversion.

You can also read the Book of Genesis 19: 5-24. Note especially, Verse 6, where the act was described as WICKED, by Lott.
Note how in Verse 8, how Lott even offered these debased criminals, his virgin daughters (just so they can stop this wicked act)
and note how in Verse 11, God struck these perverts with BLINDNESS!

Finally, the Book of Jude, Verse 7: "In a similar way, Sodom, Gomorrah and surrounding towns GAVE THEMSELVES UP to sexual morality and perversion!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am also not a Pastor but l am a Christian and l have read with my own EYES, these things which l put up there.
If you trust God, take YOUR WON BIBLE and read up those verses (and l implore every reader to read them also and teach same to their children)

We can not and must not use, for example, "a bad Police force, to justify armed robbery"
.
May the Grace of God and his holy spirit abide-in and deliver all who fall for this perversion, if they genuinely wish to be divested of such behavior. Remember, God is kind and will forgive, a repentant soul.
Nuff said.

^^^^^Very funny and thought provoking statement!
Whats Gwan with these "Sarah's" sef?

Even in the Bible, that Sarah (Abraham's wife), was a rabble-rouser!
When it suited her, she asked her husband to marry her maid, so that they can have children and a lineage!
She did not trust or believe God's promise

When she had her own biological child, it was then that she "woke up & devised a plan" to incite her husband against the poor woman who was "used and dumped"!
"DRIVE HER AND HER SON AWAY", was the ultimatum she gave her husband!

Beware of Sarah! grin grin
Politics › Re: Sarah Jibril: “my One Vote Will Continue To Haunt Nigerian Women” by lastpage: 8:31pm On Feb 04, 2011

the picture was very nice.
well, she didn't really work for votes, so she shouldn't blame women anything.
in fact she is not different from atiku sef
Atiku playing Ethnic Politics
Jubril playing Gender politics
let her retire from contesting service abeg
GBAAM!

I just cant understand why she expected different?: "One woman, Multiple Vote"? Like GEJ & Atifku, that is called rigging! grin grin

On a more serious note, Sarah should not play "divide and rule" politics over here!
How on earth can her one man woo-man, one vote HAUNT Nigerian women? WHo is she, apart from being the wife of Jibril?

How many women's life has she impacted? Not to talk of men?
People seems to forget that "The good one does, lives with them"!

Just imagine, if she has been very assistive to other "PDP" women in her zone, her region, her country, to achieve their own ambitions, would they not have been loyal to her, to the last woman?

Its easy to expect "all women delegates" to vote for you just because u'r a woman but that would simply mean that "women are generally simpletons who have no mind" but we all know that, that is far from the truth: WOMEN ARE SMART, Madam Sarah! embarassed embarassed
Food › Re: 7 Dollar Meal In Naija by lastpage: 8:04pm On Feb 04, 2011
l am surprised that people dont agree that food is darer in Nigeria than in almost anywhere else in the world!
Except you want to risk eating in a place that you will probably spend the next five weeks treating cholera or Typhoid, even the average Mama-put is not left out.
Knowing our penchant for exploiting ourselves and the absence of "regulation" in anything we do, everyone wants to make a "kill" and food is one commodity that both the rich and the poor (everyone) can not do without!

Recently, on a trip home, l decided to go hang out with some childhood friends and arranged to meet them somewhere in Ebute-Metta (some town in Lagos mainland area). My guys took me to "local Amala joint" that has been around for over 20yrs and l was even shocked that it was still in existence (boy, the place now has nice ceiling fan and a wash hand basin! grin ).
I insisted on being responsible "for all cost" even though they wanted to host me!
The joint sounded or is called something like "Eni 'Afee" (people who are familiar with Adekunle/ Old Yaba Road/Herbert Macaulay axis of 3rd Mainland Bridge might know this joint as it seems popular by the number of people, especially "tie-and-suit" peeps sweating it out there!)

Food was not bad BUT one wrap of Amala, that l would swallow in one or two gobbles cost #50:00!
I dont eat much but l managed eight (cool portions! = #400:00
Some of my friends did same or more. grin
"Normal" beaf meat was #50 (so tiny l can put two in my mouth at once , Ponmo (bow-tie) was #100, Goat meat was #300, Stock Fish (show-boy) was #500! Bottled water was #100/150 based on size.

Point l am making is, on the average, each person ate between #1800 and #2000.

So, $10 - $15 is more like it, for a good local meal. And that is a local Buka in Lagos.
As far back as eight years ago, Mr. Bigs Chicken was #400 dont know how much it is now but l hate the taste and use to avoid it anytime we were served with it, during lunch breaks.
Anyone into "food business" in Nigeria would surely make money. It is tasking and demanding (mostly logistics like preservation, power, sourcing, e.t.c) but the market is more than available.
Cheers.

@Fidelo726
we shall all get there one day. then an infant not happy with our action decides to pour invective on us.
may be then we can say '' kini big deal''.
I guess you are looking at this from a "morality point-of-view"?
Goes like "we should always respect our elders"? Right?
Well, if l am correct to make that assertion, l guess you would also oblige me that "To whom much is given, much is expected"?

To use an analogy, The "First-Born" child of a family enjoys a lot of privileges!
It annoys me when we were children that my elder brother gets to pick first, in EVERYTHING!
But my parents also "scrutinized" his behavior, more than the rest of us and one day, l questioned my Dad, "Why are you this hard on him"?
He went on to tell me how it is not just his right to enjoy and take the priciest of everything BUT that it goes with certain RESPONSIBILITIES which he CANNOT shark! huh huh
My Old man lectured me on how he has to set "good example" for the younger ones to follow, and that only then does he deserve his, sort of "exalted position"!

A lot of "First-Born" child will attest to this!
But he has become my greatest MOTIVATOR in life, even now that we are all grown-up and married with our own children!

The important thing in my story is that "Every Benefit/Position has Responsibility attached to it"
You cannot take the benefit (of being a Governor or an Elder) and then shirk the responsibility or begin to behave like a child!

You will simply loose the "respect and moral right", which is what happened to the Governor!

Its not just in Nigeria, look at Ben Alli of Tunisia, Look at Mubarak of Egypt, how come those young people could "insult and order" an 82yr old sitting President, to GET OUT NOW? Doesn't sound respectful to me, but guess what, thats what he has made himself into.
He had a Choice but he chose that way.
People like Lamido have lost the respect of the younger ones (including this Muktar) and "You can not earn respect by force or coercion!"

Thats why l used that phrase: kini Big deal?
If l behave like a thug, what do you expect younger ones to do?
Life is simple!

Agreed that its "not civil" to curse anyone, be it your brother, Neighbor, friend or political opponent BUT if we go by the way we "emit and react" to curses in Nigeria, one would be tempted to respond : Kini big deal?

Cursing is very common, especially among illiterate people, Danfo Bus conductor/driver.
Even Policemen are known to curse drivers that "escape" without dropping the usual toll fee or those who "wrap ordinary paper instead of money" and give it to them! grin grin

I have not seen ANYTHING to warrant all these "guilty by association" statements that puts the reckless boy in the league of terrorist!

Many have called Obama a terro-rist, some have depicted his picture as Osam-a B-lad-in, while others even strap a B-omb to his turban! grin
If Obama were to begin posturing and standing on a moral high-ground like our Owambe Governor, l bet most whiteys should be in jail by now! (or is Obama a small boy?)

We need to have a little sense of humor and allow "some crackpots" to let-off steam!
Its better than letting them bottle-up their frustrations which in actual sense, will lead to "taking concrete actions" in future.
As a matter of fact, if we judge everyone on the same standard we are putting the insolent boy (Muktar or whatever his name is) then most people on Nairaland also qualify to be in jail Just go back and read some venomous statements an you will agree with me!

THANK YOU "VERY PLENTY" RASPUTINN! May your memory never fade.
Even the Bible says "my people perish for lack of knowledge"!

NO ONE has been able to answer the poser you laid down!

I read and re-read that interview by Pastor Bakare: "Revealing a chilling prophetic vision, Bakare said: "Neither Buhari nor IBB nor Obasanjo nor Atiku will be part of the new Nigeria. They are part of the old that has decayed and is still decaying. The new is coming forth. It is the counsel of the Lord that shall stand in this nation. Until the sons of turmoil destroy themselves, this nation will not know peace."

Having given similar "The Lord said" about OBJ in 1999 (and that cow went on to rule for 8yrs!), l am begining to wonder: WHICH GOD IS THE ONE SPEAKING IN THIS CASE?
Is it the same Jehovah God, whose word is law?
With so many "shoot and miss" going on, the only sensible conclusion l can reach is that "IT CANT BE THE SAME GOD"!

If any one can reach a different conclusion, l will like to hear it (devoid of all those infantile abuse and irrational conclusions  grin )

And to think he is now teeming up with one of the same "sons of turmoil"? Holy Moses! huh huh

This qualifies as "The last Miracle" (shakes head and shakes head again in disbelief!)

All these our "cash-and-carry justices" sef, no wonder that cow of a Gov. can intimidate citizens!

IT IS THESE SAME SET OF CRIMINALS THAT HAVE REFUSED TO PASS THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL!
Why wont the public abuse them?

BTW: I still feel people need to EXERCISE GREATER CAUTION on "freebies" like Facebook, Twitter, My Space, e.t.c!
I will locate a "manual" that could help people get a better handling of social networks and the potential harm they could expose anyone to!
Its done so much harm to peeps life that its actually not worth the thrill, EXCEPT if you are very careful!

For starters, NEVER USE your true identity/bio-data on any Social networking site (their servers/database can easily be subpoenaed!)
NEVER use your real picture.

Am still waiting for that Governor to come and arrest me o! angry angry  grin grin

Now she is the Special Adviser on "Diaspora"
So, all her expenses (and by extension, her ill husband) will become "Diaspora expenses" incurred in the "line of duty"

Seems to me, its all about Diaspora, nothing spoil! grin

@JP Phillips
I do not care if you wish to exercise your franchise on a God forsaken PDP, but I tell you this day, if what you write on this forum sways one soul to have a change of heart to vote PDP in this coming election, the soul of every child that dies in our Hospital of dilapidated infrastructure shall hunt your family to eternity, for every soul lost on road accidents borne out of pot holes, their blood will reign death on you and your families.
For every graduate that remains unemployed in this country may their cries visit your sources of livelihood
Haaba! Why cant we Nigerians "discuss issues" like intellectuals, without resorting to this kind of debasive, gutter language?
Why cant we show such level of decorum and decency, when we discuss among each other?
Why do we make a nuisance of ourselves in a public discuss?

Even though we feel passionately about a subject, as educated as many of the discussants here have professed, why is such "education" not reflecting in our choice of language?
Why cant we rein-in our emotions? Every body has a right to speak their mind, and be heard too!
We disagree to agree, without all these bile unless someone wants to burst a pipe around their jugular! It not right at all.

In my own opinion, l love Bakare BUT l fear for his reputation if he joins these alliance!
I may be wrong, only time will tell.
As a "Man of God", and knowing the qualities of God the Almighty, he should "tread carefully"!
Politics as practiced in Nigeria is so dirty it would stain him beyond recognition!

What bothers me are:
*What if he claims "God has spoken to him" only to now loose the election: IS GOD A FAILURE? NEVER, except if "man" deceives himself!

*Can he not continue to make much "needed impact" if he stays "outside politics" but acts as a moral compass to those elected? Most likely, and his reputation and respect would still remain intact!

*What if he was elected along with Buhari and then the "regime" takes a turn for the worse? Will this not bring "disrepute" to God'name and Christians in general? Most likely!

*Since you cant control what you dont own, what if Buhari just makes him a "rubber stamp" (like most Deputies in Nigerian Politics) and then runs the country aground, what will he then do? Wont people wonder whether he didn't "see" it coming?

*Prophets in the Bible have NEVER been known to "speak God's mind" and then for the "WORD" not to come to pass because the Bible says "even if the earth passes away, not a single word of God shall go unfulfilled".
Thus, when the "Man of God" says "GOD SAID" and it then fails to come to pass (and we have heard a few of this from Pastor Bakare!), does it not make a mockery of "God's Prophet" or at the least, portray him as "speaking of his own mind and wisdom"?
DISCRETION THEY SAY, IS THE BETTER PART OF VALOR!

As a man l respect, l really "fear and worry" for Dr. Tunde Bakare: I would hate that he be "used and dumped" unceremoniously!

Now, to the main actor, Ret. Gen. Buhari.
A lot has been written about his character but till today, "How those 54 Suitcases" were allowed inside the country, when all entry points remain closed, as a result of security concerns that go with a "Currency Change" still bewilders many Nigerians!
How he "backdated" laws, laws which have capital punishment of "death", is still beyond human comprehension and a few Nigerians would still have been alive today if not for the fact that they have the "misfortune" of having Buhari as their Head of State at that point in time!
No sane society/leadership would "back date" the death penalty! It goes against all forms of fairness and natural justice!

Again, like some people have mentioned, he did not too particular well in his days at PTF (for an avowed anti-corruption crusader, to award contracts, based of familial relationship instead of competence and open bids, rubbishes those credentials of anti-corruption) and some people are wondering whether "the Leopard might just retain its spot" once its hand is on the Aso rock button!

But then, we must also note that GEJ/Sambo is not actually what this nation deserves BUT "if we cant have what we want, maybe we have to do we what we have"? This is very discomforting!
Something bothers me about GEJ! Everything seems "too easy and too organized" in his favor! Including the "PDP nomination" itself!
Its either there is a "celestial conspiracy" or some grand deception in going somewhere that we are not privy to!

What Nigeria needs is "citizens who are selfless and ready to put their money where there  mouth is" that is: People who can be a "Tunisian", an Iranian, a Chilean and a South African, all rolled into one! A REVOLUTION OF THE MIND AND BODY

Truly, we get the government we deserve (thats is the government we chose, directly or otherwise, by our actions and in-actions).

I still worry for Dr. Bakare sha! sad

desperate attempts ,  this is what a lot of immigrants do in oyinbo country. this is not a 9ja thing, oyinbo pple from other poor country self they do am
Infact, if we go by statistics, the "expert" in this "arrangee marriage" business are the Eastern Europeans!
Their women have made it a big, money-spinning business, JUST BUSINESS grin
Since they joined the E.U., they would marry anyone, anywhere, get their money and give you E.U Passport in no time wink
After that, "they never saw u before" shocked shocked grin

BTW: I wonder why we Nigerians always vilify ourselves so much, as if we are the worst human's on earth?
Anyway, it shows that deep down, we are good people. Only good people can do a "self-examination" but we need to take it easy O!

This world is getting more dangerous by the day!
I THINK NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER! PERIOD

Again, why on earth would God create you a man, gave you beautiful women as complement and you still insist you will only have your pleasure by sticking ur rod in another brothers shit-hole?
Again, why would we have mature men/ women on earth and some humans still think its okay to have sex with children?

I know we like to copy EVERYTHING FOREIGN but for heavens sake, you were that cuddly little boy/girl of your mama and you wer not created that way, YOU INDULGED AND COPIED A HEINOUS LIFESTYLE.
Like the preacher said during the man's burial, "This is another aspect of their/our life that needs God's intervention and deliverance

And it is the most hypocritical, if you dont come out openly to say you are gay/Lesbian, to start to surreptitiously equate it with lighter deviance's like racism (which is just a feeling of superiority) compared to this one that soils the human body and spirit!
And to come out openly to "incite and corrupt" younger ones into it again, is unacceptable.
Just my opinion!

Travel › Re: Ten Nigerians Held In Uk For Marriage, Immigration Fraud by lastpage: 5:08pm On Jan 29, 2011
I do not support fraud. I do not try to justify Fraud BUT l take into consideration, like any rational and matured person, the "circumstances" under which a crime is committed. In LAW, it is called "MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES" and is used as a defense in court, to REDUCE the punishment.

N.B: I did not say "to ESCAPE" the punishment!

Having said that, there are three categories of Nigerians on NL.
1.) The completely ignorant ones that wallows in their ignorance and stupidity
2.) The pretentious ones that hides behinds his/her keyboard, to pretend they are what they are not! Infact, they are the exact opposite of what they pose to be!!
3.) The ones that come on here to learn, contribute, exchange ideas and benefit in general.

I would have added the "ethnically bigoted" ones but they are very small in number!

Take for example, someone like Dele Momodu: He went to UK and claimed Asylum, anyone that has gone through an Asylum process or have close friends that have gone through it will tell you (if they say the truth o!) that "Its all formed stories" to make "Oyinbo a Maga" grin
They tell "Oyinbo" how government wants to kill them, how their life is threatened but what you will never hear them say is "truthfully how they entered the UK or any other country in Europe, as of late!".
He got his Asylum/ Refugee status and in about three years, U.K Citizenship (based on that long tale!)
Today, he is one of the greatest critic of people who go abroad to seek Asylum (the same process he benefited from!  shocked )
I guess he falls into category 2, above.

I have seen a lot of them here on NL, they come here to "form and foam"
99.99% of them tell lies.
You can as well say they are fraudulent!
BTW: A very tiny fraction are lucky, by virtue of birth, parentage or relationship or HSMP, after a time, we got the "darn Paleee" wink wink
But we have no right to insult those who are less fortunate! It will be hypocritical!!

Now, lets look at the flip-side of the coin:
Back in time, the Brits and other Europeans also defrauded us and carted away our resources (l know its a long time), l am just saying that "the Kettle cannot call the Pot BLACK"
Why would they use our natural resources to develop their country and make us poorer, only to now erect a lot of barricades/huddles, for us to "SHARE" in their environment? Did we invite them over here, back then or did they forcefully seize what was ours? Think my friend, THINK a bit!!

Why would they create a "European Union, (E.U) for example and say all citizens of 28 countries are free to travel, live and work and then shut Africans out? Americans can come freely, all Scandinavian countries can come freely BUT not "AFRICANS"? huh

These are the context under which l look at their "legitimate laws" at times.
You create a "system" that make people in dire need to suffer, how would they not try to devise a mean of "beating" that system. It is WRONG, l agree. But who committed the FIRST wrong?

Again, we must also look at the "actions and attitudes" of this western countries, in making our country what it is today

When our leaders/politicians steal our "National Wealth", where do they keep the loot? Europe and Americas and Scandinavia (Dubai & UAE of recent) Ben Alli of Tunisia stole so much, he kept in france!
What happens to the loot when they die? These countries simply confiscate them for their own use!
Would it not have been "honest and fair" to return them back to the country?

If that "Nigerian man/woman had a "viable environment" at home, why would he/she be so desperate as to go into a sham marriage?
I know its difficult for peeps who have never experienced "decent environment" to understand what life is like, under such. I know!!
If Shell and BP Oil companies have not polluted our N.Delta, would some of these armed boys not have taken to their traditional farming and fishing business?
Now, they tell you, if you cant marry a white man/woman, you have to go back to "your country that they looted and ruined" shocked
WE ALL OWN THE U.K and the whole of EUROPE grin grin grin It is our wealth that developed it.
Our Cocoa, our latex Rubber, our Groundnut pyramid, our oil and our looted treasury.
PEEPS ARE SIMPLY PLAYING "THE GAME" with Oyinbo people, win or loose.
I can go on and on!
So, before you start "yarn-ing " and sounding like Saint Pope John Paul, look at the big picture first!,
The least they can do, to have and stand on a "moral high ground" is to help us CHASE away, ARREST and JAIL our looting leaders!
I dont support criminality but l dont think we should loose our self esteem and "shake" every time Oyinbo gets a cold

@Seye4nii
The remaining 95% are just yarn-ing rubbish!
Some dont even know the details of what this "arraingee marriage" is all about!
I want those that are living (or have lived long enough) abroad, to educate my ignorant peeps that just feel they must "contribute" to any topic
@LASTPAGE thax very plenty,,,,by doing arrangee marriage does not mean u ar a 419, i for one did my arrnge marriage pay money for it and all went ok and later divorce and re marry to my patner and everybody is now ok,so if u ar unlucky and things go wrong 4u that is when u will have problem,so these guys are not doing it for free they have payed lots of money for it is not for free and im sure nobody will pray for such things to happen to their sis or bruv bcz after loosing money their immigration status also is f.u.cked,,,dis is a game of immigration status not a fraud,,, Cry Kiss
Thanks Seye4nii. It is "honest people" like you, that l like. Not those hiding behind computer to appear as if they are one Simon Peter of later day Nigeria grin grin

Anyway, lets take it easy on ourselves. We will right our wrongs and get our country on a good footing, one of these days.
In 1978, One Naira was = Two Dollars and equals = One Pound, fifty Pence.  We did not tell the Oyinbo people to get Visa before coming here, and they were every where. Today, fortune has reversed! Go figure the rest! wink wink grin

Cheers everyone.
BTW: Dont burst any pipe in your head/neck over my comment. Its just my point of view; feel free to state yours and we can have a light banter over it.

Addendum: @kayci-d77.
Its not compulsory at all for anyone to aspire to live abroad. Its not by force at all BUT l know that if we are honest, no one will choose to live where there are no hospitals, roads are death traps, drugs are fake, Police are worse than armed robbers, people get roasted like Suya, just for having a different religion/opinion/tribe, where schools are closed 75% of the time, unemployed graduates roam around looking for food and some nice ladies are tempted into prostitution, just to earn food money, compared to where the EXACT OPPOSITE EXISTS!
Its a natural inclination of human-beings to ALWAYS want to better themselves.
Thats why Marcopolo, Mungo Park and Lord Lugard traveled to Africa in the first place.   shocked wink grin
Cheers

GEJ loves his wife, as rudimentary as she is, chikenna!

Now imagine, if it was YOU (one of the women spewing trash about the woman) that was in her shoes, would you suddenly become a Masters degree holder over-night?
Instead of you "fakers" to support your husband so hat he can achieve what GEJ has achieved (with the support of his "local wife"wink, you are here ranting and raving about how good your "Engrish" was huh huh
Monkey no-fine, im Mama like am

Some of you should "present your husband here" for public appraisal, the way you're judging this woman.
That's the gauntlet l have thrown to you.

If she has been wasting her time away trying to be what she is not, or fighting some non-existent, "women superiority battle" in her home, she wont be the first lady today (or are you first lady? Upon all your grammar and l-sabi grin )

I guess some of you will even imply GEJ needs a "sophisticated first lady" for public functions but when your own husband moots he will marry a second wife, you will blow your complete set of fuse grin grin grin
