Politics › Re: Yar'adua's Wife Turai Is Fighting For A Second Term by lastpage: 2:19am On Sep 03, 2009
Questions are:
1.) Why would the wife of the President be waving at the country's citizens on Arrival? Remember the man was coming from Hospital!
2.) What is she smiling about (or over)?
3.) While it might be insignificant that she is in front, why is she actually in front, smiling and waving, all at the same time?
4.) I can understand her smile iff UMYA was also smiling (like hey meen, l am back and ready in good health!) BUT UMYA was all frown and gloomy!

If l take the picture seriously, it says:
a.) I am the President and l am back from my trip, my ADC is watching out "seriously" for stray bullets, behind me grin
b.) Only Presidents wave in a Motorcade or some sort and (you dont get any medals for your guess!)
c.)UMYA was probably thinking in his mind (after a hot argument on who should wave and smile, inside the plane!): I know u're enjoying urself while l am dying bit by bit, if l die finish now, which of those "boys" go dey bulala you, if not already? huh grin

BTW: Turai will win in 2011, just like the sickly and absent Umaru won.
if you doubt, Just ask that "whoodinni" in INEC, Prof. Uwuruwuru grin (or is it FEDECO sef!)

I sorry for my contiri!

This "matta" never finish o! shocked
Now, its two match ban BUT,
The rule says "if you dive", its an offense and its "YELLOW CARD".

Now, in any game, its the REFEREE and his assistants that decide penalty or foul grin
Ref or any assistant did not give Eduardo any yellow (compare it with Ebue's case) but the REF awarded him a penalty (to show that Eduardo was fouled )

Weeks later, UEFA gave Eduardo a 2Match ban (after watching "SLOW MOTION" angry )

The questions arising from now, going forward are:
1. DO we still need Refs for matches, if we dont trust their judgment?
2. Since the same "slow motion" showed a goal was scored the other day & on so many occasions, why was the goal/match not re-awarded?
3. UEFA board has a lot of Celtic-sympathizers but if tomorrow, the Ref awards a goal or disallows one and "slow motion" shows otherwise, especially in a final match, would the CUP be taken back from the winner?
4. Is THIS TREATMENT just for ARSENAL ALONE or would it be applied to others likewise?

This is an indication of favoritism, bias against Arsenal and over-interference in the beautiful game.

Though a GUNNER but l will not support cheating.
Eduardo is not the type of player that cheats.
I guess when his leg was broken, if not for the breakage, the referee might have given him a Yellow Card for diving?! huh

Diving is a very grey-area and if anyone has watched that video and for anyone that have played football a bit, "Footballers" know and would agree with me that at times, we anticipate danger and try to avoid it by taking evasive action, like jumping out of the way, instinctively.

That is not a dive, since to not do that may result in another broken leg, for Eduardo, and l guess we will all offer our condolence when his carrier is finally terminated?

My take is this: no need to generate controversy, if the Referee made a mistake, as they do most often, (now that the game has become faster), educate and empower the Ref (Goal-mouth, over-head and mid-line cameras that are instantly reviewable, like playback) to make a better judgment next time.

A retroactive punishment is a bad precedence, except its meant for the GUNNERS alone.

By the way, it is the lack of "exactness and preciseness" that makes football more passionate than most sport!
To take decisions contrary to the Center-Ref own is to spoil the "passionate-anger" of the beautiful game!!

Politics › Re: Obasanjo Feeds Daniel In A ''Ritualistic'' Manner by lastpage: 9:01pm On Sep 02, 2009
I dont think we should end-up mixing two different things here, they dont even look alike! grin

Yoruba culture is one.
OBJ as a personality is another.

That Yoruba culture allows the "younger" to be subservient to the "elder" is no news!
The level of respect younger ones are expected to show to older people is legendary and that explains why it is about the Yoruba culture only, where another human (younger) is expected to prostrate, as a sign of greeting (but more as a sign of submission, since in that position, you're at the mercy of the older fella you're prostrating to!), its has been and will continue to be in practice.

An "Elder" (mark my words please!) may feed a younger one, for no apparent reason or more-so, in traditional ritualistic and non-ritualistic moments. No big deal (its mostly done for noble purpose, in the days of our fore-fathers before the current set of aged but useless charlatans assumed the stage huh )
On that level, we may or may not read meanings into the picture, if actually it is not doctored.

The other more serious issue will be addressed later grin

@becomerich.
Thank you jare my bruv, this our "copy-copy" of anything western is what spurned that retard called Boko-Haram to miss road completely.
Growing-up, l also encountered "ebo, Awure, e.t.c" on the way to the school, farm and just about any three-way junction (Orita-meta) and this was even in Lagos.

That Monkey aside (OBJ), the Yoruba culture is not only very rich, its as endless as what we call "Oogun" (some westernized call it 'Juju') but the only difference between "then and now" is that it was used to better mankind in those days and our fore-fathers have a strong ethical code of conduct such that if you are knowledgeable in it, you dare not use it for wickedness (Ayelala will make a nuisance of such person! He/She would confess, swell-up and burst like a rubber balloon before being thrown into Igbo-Ayelala to decay! A very shameful death)

Without getting too-theatrical, l have seen cures that no western medicine can even comprehend, less tackle, performed, using our traditional medicines (Just leaves and herbs and words that the same God, Allah, Jehovah, Olodumare, Oluwa, gave us for our use).

We tend to bow before the "whiteman" and accept that whatever they dont understand or cant interpret, especially if it comes from Africa, must be evil!?
We cured migraine headache before Panadol or Phensic was discovered, its just a simple matter of putting the sufferer's head against a stone wall and reciting a few "words of wisdom", no dosage problem, no side effects, no addiction but headache will vamoose! (Am sure one or two people reading this, know what l am talking about)
The Western world, with their fascination for "Empericity" just cant accept that everything is not "physical", they fail to admit that the world has a spiritual dimension, something their own fore-fathers used to invent and build the foundation of the current "technology" that gives them advantage.

Maybe, its just a sublime way of suppressing Africans!
Imagine how the world would have looked like if Africans (Nigerians and Yorubas in particular) can "talk/wish-away ailments like cancer while the Westerners are still planning a surgical operation? huh

In my Granny's village, l've seen "wise ones" speak the language of animals and send them on errands and on one occasion, asked "rats to commit mass suicide" for eating someones valuable! (just being rats, what do we expect?). You should have seen the ground, no space to step without stepping on them dead rats! Everywhere was full of dead rat, like an atomic bomb was dropped in the middle of a "World Congress of Rats"! grin

When people say "evil forces" invade a cat's body, some think its just fiction, but l am sure if you know "the language" (like the prophets do, in the Bible and asked mountains to move!; God has deposited valuable powers in we humans; In God's image we were created, remember?) you can do that which seems "miraculous" to others who dont know!

What l am saying in summary is that WHY have we neglected our roots, where we have a comparative advantage against the Westerners, only to be playing catch-up with them, where they have a better advantage than us?
Is it because of religion? Christianity and Islam, abi?

I am sure, anyone will agree with me that our "heathen fore-fathers" practiced less evil than we do today, even now that we profess religion from Hifi-Audio equipments and over the internet!
An Orphaned boy has nothing to fear, in their days and the widowed woman would not die of hunger even in old age, back then but now, a few Billionaires feel better when they see millions suffering right in front of them! Such a cruel evolution of the mind!!

My take is that "your religion" is your attitude towards your fellow man, regardless of creed, color or religion.

i no sure if u b gunners fan, na so u dey abuse all your youngstars
Ma bruv, l am a "GUNNER" to the bone!
Everytime Arsenal plays, you can kidnap me and l would not even know! grin

Having said that, you could add twenty years to my life-span, if Arsenal continues to win games and the converse, as bad as it is, is also true!! sad

Imagine how it feels, watching Emmanuel Adebayor deliver a fine header for Man-City just now!
That goal was supposed to have been scored against Man-U yesterday, ,,,,,for Arsenal!
shocked

But Viewer, in his Wisdom, sold him off!
Lets be honest with ourselves (lets leave those prat of Man-U fans out of it for now), do you think we have a "point-man" who can deliver goals consistently, for the whole season?
Eduardo is good but we both know Adebayor is better.

Why on earth did we sell Adebayor? For Moneyhuh?
Even Cheskyy kept Drogba, despite sacrificing him during the European final brouhaha! (and having Anelka as back-up)

Now, l am not against developing youngsters BUT you can not use a "Title chase" to develop a player, you only od that in Training and friendly matches (like Pre-Season).

I tell you, from a "Bank-Balance" point of view, Wenger is magnificent (I wish he was my Portfollio Manager grin) but as he makes more money for the clubs owners (and that includes himself), we die-hard fans will have our emotions ruined over and over again!

Good football without goals or Trophies = Heart attack for teeming Fans!
I dont want to die yet! Wenger is trifling with my health!!

My take is that Prof. Wenger needs to re-evaluate his strategy and decide whether winning trophy is his priority of making more money for shareholders.

Nothing is more humiliating than my little son (the dude is a Man-U addict!) making fun of me all day long!
BUT I still remain a GUNNER all the same.

Moonraker, any solution to this turn of events?
Politics › Re: Dele Momodu Vs Nigerian Youths. by lastpage: 2:49am On Aug 30, 2009
A few things sound very funny to me.
One is that Dele Momodu claims to be an activist in the league of NADECO men! huh

Another is when he "warned" British government to hands-off Ibori as he, Ibori did not steal British Money and if they dont, there will be consequences for British interest in Nigeria!

A few people know Dele very well, especially in London.

Now, some have wondered why Dele did not "set-up" in Nigeria instead of Ghana grin
The truth is that Dele can not move freely in Nigeria, due to his status as a "British Refugee".

Dele got his British Pali based on his Asylum claim in U.K grin
And if you read his "Asylum claim", you will understand why he can only operate on the periphery of Nigeria grin

Having said that, hearing him "warning" the British govt shows his level of deception and chameleon-nic behavior!
Forget the "NADECO activist" story, its just so that British paper can surface.

The same Dele who is insulting Nigerian youths now have probably forgotten that a few years ago, before he got his papers in Britain, and the loan which allowed him to set-up Ovation, he was squatting here in London, and he went on to abuse and insult those who actually gave him a platform to launch himself back then.

While l find his writings comically amusing, like someone said, l find them too retarded and jaundiced to warrant my time, l stopped reading him a few years back.

He is entitled to his "Ovation and his Ovation standard", he will always get his market niche BUT l guess it his pretense and bloated Ego that pisses a few people off! undecided
Lets move on to better things, we all know what Dele Momodu stands for, simply put, he has no depth, more like a Social Prostitute!

His writings are like the Preachings of most Religious men: Do what l say but dont bother with what l actually do grin

And by the way, Dele has no Political ambition, of-course, that would be suicidal, except if he could do a "laundry job" for OBJ in his magazine (sound more like it) so that maybe, just maybe INEC and PDP can "organize" his landslide victory grin shocked

Smelly rubbish!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester Utd (2) Vs Arsenal (1) On Saturday 29th August by lastpage: 2:03am On Aug 30, 2009
Nigerians are really EPL-crazy!
I cant imagine any other story that would make Eighteen (18) pages within a few hours, and you are asking those EPL rights owner in Naija not to double their subscription without warning? grin

Well, let me add my own "page" grin
I am not angry at "Diaby", players have a bad day, (and a good day at times!) Diaby just had his today.
We all know how a good player he is, am sure we dont have that short a memory.

MY BLAME GOES TO Viewer!
At times, l have a strong feeling that man has passed his "sell-by-date" and is way passed his "consume-before-date", for best results grin

Okay, before you begin to "swear for me", l am also a die-in-the-hood Gunners, FOR LIFE.

Let me explain my reasons:
In every match, each side will get an average of "3-4 scoring chances", Whether you loose or win will depend with what you do with those chances.

Has anyone noticed that in about 90% of Matches where Van Persie "tops" (top striker), Arsenal has lost?
He's good BUT he would WASTE eight (cool out of every ten scoring chances, which implies his strike rate is just about 20%. No team can go far with such strike rate!
(Well, l dont play Million-Dollar Pool, not "Perm 3 from 4 at ten lines on 5# per line grin)

Again, has anyone noted that while Nichlas Bendtner is good with headers, the guy is not actually cut out to be a footballer, he might do better at Long Jump or Javelin or any other sport that does not require much dexterity!

Before l make my final conclusion, Between Bendtner and Eduardo, who is more "precise" at utilising scoring chances? Eduado, by a million miles yet, Viewer brought in Bendtner first, when we needed a goal desperately, living Eduardo on the bench! till less than ten minutes to go!!

Though "IN ARSENE WE TRUST" but that trust is being abused, in recent past and the result are showing.

Like last season, Viewer is making some faulty substitutions that are unpardonable!
He removed a thriving Midfielder (Denilson) and replaced with Bendtner and our Team collapsed since the other miefielder (Diaby) was having a bad day! (Song was pulling his weight).

Arsene should have realized, since first half, that Diaby was in his "off-day" in the first half (90% of his passes were off-target!) and replaced him.
Again, he took off a mobile Eboue and replaced him with Ramzy! You dont "try-out" or apprentice a player when you are desperate to win a game for three points! We all saw thatRamzy's passes too were no better than Diaby, for the time he spent on the field!

Again, little Donkey (Arshavin) was one of the most dangerous in that team and he was really on fire. Even a slightly injured Arshavin is better than the two lame-duck Bendtner and Ramsey he brought-in.

The question than is this: Can we still TRUST in Arsen Wenger's wisdom?
Four Season's without a Trophy is not a good statement on anyone's C.V and it is even worse that we can beat this depleted Man-U Team, , Burnley did!!

I bet anyone to follow my prediction wherever Van Persie "tops" and Bendtner supports, Arsenal will like loose the match, the success and goal scoring chances of Arsenal are not in these two.

No offense intended against their person, just the way l see their performance to-date.

GUNNERS!, FOR LIFE!!

BTW: Who can we consider as the replacement "Top Striker" for Adebayor?
Why did Viewer sell "Adebayor and Kolo Toure"?
That is one question he will have to live with, when and if we end the season TROPHY-LESS sad cry cry cry shocked

In summary, "Auntie Nana" is a family member to Cecelia Ibru.
So, she gave a 13Billion loan to another family member, based on self-recognition!

Now, this is not peculiar to Cecelia alone, other M.D's of banks have been engaging in this stupid behavior for long, case is point is the defunct City Express Bank Plc in V.I , headed by Mrs Shola Adeoti whose husband's company, BACOM Communications borrowed and siphoned huge amounts of unsecured loans from the bank and as expected, the bank finally crashed, CBN recapitalization notwithstanding! (The bank could not pay depositors as at January 2005)

The annoying thing is that these M.D's fail to appreciate that INVESTORS/DEPOSITORS FUNDS are not their personal property that they can do as they wish with!
Apart from living large and acquiring properties with customers funds, they also dash-out the money to their friends!
There is nothing wrong in taking a loan from a bank, well secured with disposable assets, to do a viable business: Its a win-win situation for the bank (interest an charges), the customer (interest on deposits), the borrower (financing and realization of project, profit making, e.t.c) and the economy at large (creation of wealth and employment) ,
But if you borrow, please pay back or renegotiate the loan, if you're having cashflow problems with your business.
The worst people are those class of "big-men" who borrow or steal/loot our treasury and "dump" the money in some foreign bank accounts. Does IBB, Ibori, e.t.c come to mind?

By the way, Oceanic never said Jimoh Ibrahim was in default or not servicing his loan (He paid back 3Billion between Nov 208 and March 2009, and now he's paid back another 3Billion,, and the info said it was a "wire transfer", which implies the money was from a foreign bank account!) thus, his loan was performing and there was no need to "coerce him'" into offsetting the loan immediately! Why?

If he repays immediately, (as requested) then, the bank looses more money through "interest" that would have accrued on "the outstanding balance" (thats how bank make money on loans).
In sane climes, you actually get punished by way of extra charges, if you decide to defray a loan that was supposed to last ten years, within say one year!

I guess we are bunch of people who like to shoot themselves in the foot! huh

@Mannygee
There have been so much hullabalo since the sacking of 'troubled' banks by the CBN. Much as i so much believe in the 'santitization' strategy, i would still not join the league of those who believe so much in the MILITANT approach by Sanusi Lamido on the following ground and i want all intellectuals to go along with me:

1. AUDITING OF TEN BANKS

Why did the CBN have to be SELECTIVE in its ADHOC auditing exercise? Although we are being told that more (eleven) banks are still currently being audited. Why can't the CBN finished up the whole audit exercise before realeasing its report. Why the rush? I hope there is no political sentiment in this exercise? I hope this exercise has not been predetermined? I believe there is something that meet the eye here? So much question but only time will give the answer.

2. WHY PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT OF 'AUDIT' FINDING WITHOUT THE AUDITEE BEING ALLOWED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ARISING.

The Banking and Other Financial Institution Act (BOFIA) stipulates that a bank (through its representatives) shall be given 30 DAYS to respond to any issue that may be arising from any special audit exercise carried out by the CBN on any (Nigeria) Banks. This in essence, is to support the TRUE and FAIR view of any audit report. This professionally procedure is also supported by the Standard Auditing Practice (SAP). Now the question is, why didn't the CBN allowed these 'troubled' banks to answer questions arising fro their 'auditing and investigation' exercise before concluding their report. Please lets be objective and professional here. I still believe there is something that meet the eye in CBN MILITAT approach. So much question but only time will give the answer.

3. DISPUTED DEBTORS FIGURE

The Standard Auditing Practice (SAP) spelt out the principle of THIRD PARTY CONFIRMATION in auditing amount owing an audited Company (and Banks). In a more clear term, an Auditor MUST CIRCULARIZE all debtors to CONFIRM TRULY the amoung standing in the book of an audited bank as being owing by them. The current dissagreement of figures amongst these bank Debtors shows that the CBN did not exercise DUE DELIGENCE in their auditing exercise and I ask why? Is this a professional genuine oversight or the CBN intentionally ignored professional ethic just to achieve their 'hidden' agenda for some group of individual just in the name of carrying out CBN legitimate function? So much question but only time will give the right answer.

4. WHY MILITANT APPROACH IN DEBT RECOVERY ON BANK DEBTORS?

I STRONGLY believe that the CBN can go about its 'BANK SANITATION' exercise without making it this public BECAUSE of its negative effect on the economy. Now the ignorant ones are raining abuse, assault and vernon on the people like Otedola, Dangote, Jimoh Ibrahim just to mention a few. Please don't get me wrong, am not saying that they are right for not paying or servicing their debts (even those some have even proved to be servicing same) and neither am i saying we should pamper them. What i am advocating for is that, let us be fair to these business Moguls, industralists and enterpreneurs who have under harsh economic policy and conditions continued to take the risk of investing in Nigeria economy unlike those who steal our National cake and run abroad. The likes of Otedola, Jimoh Ibrahim and Dangote have contributed immensely the our GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT (GDP) . I need not talk of the employment opportunites (for the youths), raising the standard of living (through product and service offering), paying salaries and paying taxes to the goverment. Am sure anyone who might have benefitted in one way or the other from the BOLD INVESTMENT DRIVE of these enterprenuers will care less if all these are being done on borrowed fund from banks. Just last friday, the Vice President of Nigeria (, Goodluck Jonnathan) was in Lagos to commission the new office complex of Zenox (belonging to Otedola). In a more developed countries, Government or Venture Capitalist rally round industralist/enterpreneur/business mogul like Otedola, Dangote, Jimoh Ibrahim to bail them out of this ugly situation. But here in Nigeria, its pay your debt yourself or we CUT yourself. What a pity? There is structurally inbalance in our economy and we need to fix it up.

THE WAY FORWARD

No matter the amount of 'sanitation' exercise being done by the CBN, all will still come back to NOTHING if something is not done to make our economy more stable than it is noe. I quite agree that sanitazing the banking sector is not a step too small BUT that too has to be done in a very TRUE AND FAIR manner so as not to be counter-productive. And unless there is proper electoral reform in Nigeria we shall continue to suffer ourselves of credible leaders in this our Country. Leaders that have vision. Leaders that will not sleep over Global Economic Meltdown. Leaders that will create an enabling environment for our industralists and enterprenuers to do business with ease. Leaders that will create job for the youths. Leaders that will make our parents enjoy their pension with no hazzle in retirement .What esle can i say? Oh! Nigeria!!!

Conclusively,

1. Dangote, Otedola, Jimoh Ibrahim and co, Biko, be humble and pay una debts as soon as possible. Na to take hands rub each other dey make hands clean oo. Thank you Sirs for ya cooperation.

2. Sacked MDs, Where is ya professionally ethic? Like CBN governor talk say Its not a crime to make loss but failure to disclose the loss na im bad pass. I know by now you would have burnt ya fungers and learnt ya lessons. There should be no compromise in practicing corperate governance. However, i pray that the CBN should temper justice with mercy because na 3 YEARS JAIL TERM (according to BOFIA) dey ring to una hair so. GOD FORBID sha.

3. Our Able CBN (Sanusi Lamido) , Softly softly oo. Power dey kill o. I hope you will remember say Nigerians like pushing their industrious servicing public servant oo. If e happen finish now, nobody go praise you again o. I hope una still remember of Nuhu Ridadu sha. No be say Soludo no fit do wetin you sanusi dey do now o but he apply wisdom, diplomacy and wise politics into the 'game' . This is because he (soludo) knows who Nigerians are. A word they say its enough for the wise.

Please forgive me NAIRALANDERS if i have spoken STUPIDILY here o.

Thanks
I SALUTE YOU, MANNYGEE!

This thread is about bank debts, repayment (+ modus operandi) and its effect on the Nigerian economy but as usual, some immature Nairalanders have turned it to "personal insults/attack" on one another!
Its only when you have nothing "cranial" to say that you waste your time pouring venom on another "faceles blogger" you have not met or may never even meet! He or she could even be a menal retard with access to a computer grin

I would suggest we all adopt the approach of Mannygee (why l quoted him verbatim), lay out your position in a sensible and civil manner. MAKE YOUR POINT, NOT NOISE

As for Larez and Afam, grow up, two'aya.
Thanks,

@skis_don mayb u re talkin about MONITORING dis d code **21*(followed by your own personal phone number)# ok/send or u cn use **61*(your own personal phon number)#send TO CANCEL IT, Use ##21# or ##61# i ll wait 2 c who wil prove it wrong, WAITING
Well done 2u and all the others, l just tried out your code above (on one of my phones and called with another one of my phones grin)and it clearly says "CALL DIVERTED".
I called the "diverted number" and as expected, it rang on my third Phone (the one l diverted it to)!

So, l guess "skis_don" was right, it is for "Call divert".

All the same, keep the research going.
Cheers.

Hmmmm,,  what will some people do, if they had a gun or have access to one today?
Does this remind me of "some Armed Policemen who waylay and rob people on the Highway?? shocked shocked

I am not surprised, some people cant even trust themselves, less others!,
some of these scumbags cant even be trusted to sleep in the same room with their daughter!

I can understand their "fear about owning a gun for self protection", they are innately aware of their propensity to be criminals, for them, its innate!!
For such people, l have nothing to discuss, they are probably one of the armed robbers we are talking about, and you can even see it in their rabid vituperations grin

Now, let me get back to "intelligent and decent people" joo tongue
