ThothHermes: I keep asking, how can they possibly know that this exact spot was were Jesus was buried
It is likelier that some people just picked a strategic spot and began to call it the burial place of Jesus to enable tourism. Too much time has passed and many things have happened for anyone to believe this.
History tells us that Israelis became to give towns and cities Hebrew names after the creation of present day Israel so how could they have known the exact spot the famous Rabbi was buried?
I think it's a scam. No pranks... The Catholic church is 2000+yrs old and has always preserved tradition and history all through the ages ...if Peter knew where his master was buried why wouldnt his followers... If you are to exist in 1000 years to come are you going to ask "how did Nigerians know that Tafawa Balewa was the 1st PM or how did they know the 1st storey building in Nigeria was situated at Badagry? |

ShyWhale: My reservations about moving to the UK
- I hate being at the mercy of others. Going to the UK on a spousal permit means losing my German residency and I'll be at her mercy. As should anything go wrong with the relationship , I'll have to leave the UK.
- Getting a professional job. It doesn't make sense to go to the UK and continue to be trapped in menial jobs. I have been there and I hardly see Nigerians in professional jobs except those with rich parents. Someone should advice me on that as it could not be a real reflection.
My Reservations about Nigeria
- High rate of startup failure - Difficulty in getting loans to expand. I have heard they can ask for even your neck in those times. With a lack of collateral, more difficult.
For those asking about my course, Yes it's a STEM degree. Should i remain in heaven or relocate to hell? Please answer yourself |
Christianity Etc › Re: "Once Saved, Forever Saved": Wrong And Unscriptural! by livebullet(m): 10:45am On May 12, 2019 |
shadeyinka: You are misunderstanding her. She never condoned sin
She says "if the Holy Spirit doesn't convict you of sin if you do, you are never born again in the first place".
Let me ask you a direct question: When does a Christian loose his salvation? Answer: known to God best, however sin does diminishes our relationship with God and enhances it with the devil. Thereby we of our own free will to sin, drift away from his grace. |
Christianity Etc › Re: "Once Saved, Forever Saved": Wrong And Unscriptural! by livebullet(m): 10:42am On May 12, 2019 |
shadeyinka: Sometimes overzealousness will make us negate the scriptures to our own peril.
The implication of what you just wrote is this 1. The sacrifice of Christ and his blood is powerless to save completely. Christians have to augment the work of Christ by works 2. We are saved by works through faith in Jesus Christ.
If anyone be in Christ, such has become a NEW creature (not a washed sinner but a sinner completely TRANSFORMED into a saint). If you find anyone who claims to be saved but enjoys SIN, such might NEVER have been saved in the first place.
You know what Jesus said, "By their Fruit, you shall know them"...does anyone reap mangoes from weed?
Yours is a doctrine of partial salvation! You believe that Christ only saved us halfway! Is this the scripture? So what are you saying... That once you become a christian by faith.... You can continue sinning and wont loose grace? |

Business › Re: Polaris Bank Network Failures And The Silence Of CBN by livebullet(m): 10:28pm On Dec 04, 2018 |
blackmantis: For many Nigerians it has become the norm to get to the banking hall and hear "there is no network now you can only deposit" message, many approach ATMs of other banks with great caution and anxiety not knowing if they will get the Issuer or switch Inoperative message, or worse still get debited but not paid and then have to go through the hassles of filling forms and waiting for days or weeks for the money to reverse. In fact some have marked some ATMs notorious for debiting without payment and would never approach them even if you held a knife to their neck.
We have conditioned our minds to take all of these blunders, inefficiency, unprofessional conduct of bank staff who speak to customers as they like as normal when that should not be case. Today I tried withdrawing money from my account using my atm card at 3 Banks after standing in a long line for several minutes got the same message, Issuer Or Switch Inoperative. I tried withdrawing from these mobile pos vendors and the story was still the same so I embarked on a long journey to the nearest branch of my Bank(Polaris Bank) to withdraw cash from the banking hall only to meet scores of dejected looking people sprawled both in and outside the bank premises. Some were sitting and a lady was lying on the bare floor, on inquiry I learnt that since yesterday morning (Monday December 3rd) there has been no network to withdraw cash.
I was taken aback when a staff of the bank casually said we should wait and that by 1pm today if the situation persists they would resort to plan B. Time they say is money. People on their way to work will have to wait hours due to no fault of theirs except that they patronized a Bank to keep their money. Well some of us waited till 1pm to see what the plan B was. At 1pm we were all called into the banking hall and we were addressed to put it kindly, in a most unprofessional way by a man probably the branch manager and a lady. They apologized for the network failure and said it was being worked on and tried to justified it by saying that some other banks are currently having the same problem too. To our horror they then said that that will take a risk and pay only those who opened their account at that particular branch and that others like me whose account were opened at other branches of the same bank(Polaris Bank) should find our way to the branch were our account is domiciled as they will not attend to us. When other customers who had been at the bank since 8am protested they threatened to throw us all out. From their tone it was as if they were doing us a favor, paying us money that we gave to them to keep for us.
Well I really don't blame them, its the financial regulators, CBN in particular that I blame. Because if Small incidents of ATMs debiting you yet you don't get cash are taken seriously, if online transactions that you will be debited and the receiver will not get the money for days and without even an apology from the erring institutions are promptly penalized these institutions will not take its customers for a ride.
An elderly woman who had not had breakfast was there in the banking hall till 1pm if she collapses there when she has money in her account to take care of her needs who will be held responsible. A girl who was to travel to Bauchi from Abuja was stranded with no hope in sight. Many business men like me who wanted to get money to run around and do some work were grounded after spending productive hours on end at the banking hall and yet got no money.
Nigeria When will we get it right. I hope someone up there will read this and do something to make our financial institutions work like their counterparts in other climes. Else we would have no other option than to return to the dark days of keeping money under our beds and take the risk of moving cash physically.
May that never happen

Politics › Re: 2019: Saraki Set To Launch Presidential Bid by livebullet(m): 7:18pm On Jul 22, 2018 |
Ecstasy154: Despite the spirited moves aimed at stalling the defection of Senate President Bukola Saraki and members of the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) to the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) indications have emerged that the President of the Senate is set to launch his presidential aspiration for the 2019 race.
Sources in the polity said that since Saraki is of the view that the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has already been ceded to President Muhammadu Buhari, the next available sport is the coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) which will be fielding candidates on the ticket of the PDP.
It was confirmed that notwithstanding the offers that might be placed on the table by President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the APC at a meeting to be held in the presidential Villa later on Sunday, the R-APC has concluded on the need for defection.
Sources said that by listening to the President and members of the APC, the R-APC leaders were only showing courtesy to the office of the President.
“We don’t want to be seen as greedy lots and that is why all the juicy offers cannot sway the defection plans,” said a leader of the R-APC who claimed not to be named.
A source further said that the R-APC was aware that the leaders of the APC would come after its members with carrot and stick and that the aggrieved members were prepared for the worst case scenario. “We have taken the legal option early enough to preserve our members and we are taking steps to ensure all needed agreements are signed with a coalition of opposition parties. It is a meticulous plan to rescue Nigeria,” another R-APC leader said.
Sources said that Saraki was already perfecting the launch of his presidential bid with some whistle stop trips around different states of the federation since his victory at the Supreme Court.
It was also gathered that Saraki might have secured some international backing for his ambition, following his recent invitation to the United States Congress, where he was said to have held parliamentary talks as well as political discussions.
“I can assure you that notwithstanding the outcome of the meetings being orchestrated by leaders of the APC and the juicy offers being placed on the table, the Senate President and a number of bigwigs in the R-APC have signed out of the ruling party. It is just a matter of days.
“For them, the issue is not really about personal gains but good governance that would propel Nigeria to greatness in the comity of nations,” the source said, adding that the APC has failed to show the desired leadership in the last three years.
