jamjo:It's still part of their constitutional roles. It's called internal security, MACA or MACP (as the US & UK) refer to it ie military aid to civil authority or military aid to civil power. There's a serious breakdown of law and order in the SE and the inability of the police to contain it that necessitated such operations. But you risked your life to approach any check points in high speed or with tinted glass not wind down. And having a government number plate still won't protect you if you refuse to obey simple safety guidelines, not even a military painted vehicle would have easy thoroughfare based on the experience of those guys in the NE. Anybody could hijack and used that to penetrate their ranks. Sometimes, Nigerians unnecessarily come to harm with these security guys as a result of ego. From the statement of their boss it showed they behaved professionally. But remember the dead don't talk. |
jumper524:A trained soldier can't do that. It becomes war crime, and is punishable. The fight usually isn't personal, it's just unfortunate the two combatants find themselves at opposing sides of the blanket. If the Nigerian troops have taken that path you will be hearing the loudest of noise from amnesty international by now. |
juman:If you actually heard it from him, maybe that may be the truth. You never can trust politicians though. I'm from Lagos Island and the oriki of the jakandes is Omo olomu aperan Omo oloro agogo. Though of igbomina ancestry which igbaja is also one but that isn't their oriki cos I schooled with some of them. They always boast if themselves as oko irese Omo awoyira. It's also possible the jakandes migrated from irese to omu aran before migrating to okepopo area of Lagos their present abode. This is common among Yoruba folks. We move around. That's why you see some families in about 2 or 3 different states or cities. Yorubaland belongs to all the Yorubas. And for the records, it wasn't Lateef Jakande or his father that migrated to Lagos but his grand father or great grandfather. The family holds the title of Oluwo nla in Lagos Island and that's their home. But the ancestry is definitely of igbomina origin. Almost every Yoruba family traced their origin somewhere. Most of the ilorin Yorubas are of Oyo stock, likewise Ibadan, Iwo, Ede, Offa, Ekiti, and the igbomina, does it make them Oyo people today? No! And are Yoruba towns and communities not made up of families from different part of Yorubaland? Stop following the non Yorubas lack of understanding of migration to cast aspersion on the metamorphic identity a Yoruba person can have by settling down in another Yoruba town. Thank you |
Jackdean111:Sent you a private msg, holla with your Whatsapp nos, so you can be guided |
compton11:Woodland camo is the operational uniform of all the armed forces. When there's a need to operate within forest region in land operations or joint operations on land such is required. Meanwhile, there are still specific camo to suit other terrains. And to your question, the navy fights in bush/forest and even desert too. The coastal regions have large green vegetation meeting the waterline in some areas. In some amphibious operations you may chase your targets into the forest. Navy special forces operate in the northeast as well with desert camo. Osama was neutralize by the US Navy seal not the Army |
Some people may be applauding your action but I must tell you that you didn't do well with your interpersonal relationship. I'm also left handed and most left handed are sharp witted and smart. Inside your mind you know you wanted to ridicule that lady. In every society there are norms, mores and values. The officer was just an expressive type, others would have treated your fuckup without the hoopla she raised. Even overseas stupid body languages would attract unnecessary hostilities to you in an indirect way. You know it's disrespectful but you chose to ride on the back of the poor image of the police force to come online to narrate how you deliberately went to provoke an officer performing her duty. It's good to treat others with dignity. Learn to bring smile to the faces of people and see the joy it will bring to your heart. Most people say the officers are uncultured. Maybe. But go grab a copy of how to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie, you will discover lots of what's wrong in your approach. Also visit the website 16personalities.com to discover some things about yourself. |
Praxis758:Hmmmm... I'm surprised that you will justify a stealth operation carried out on a sovereign foreign soil which even led to loss of lives but will condemn another only meant to arrest so the guy could answer for his crimes. Not saying Nigerian State is right or wrong but these other countries set bad antecedents for the developing countries to follow. Osama was already marked for death not given a chance at trials. Evil must be challenged irrespective of the persona involved. |
redcliff:US na baba in this regard. They call it irregular rendition. US can go to any length to neutralize such a person. Even Isreal’s Mossad kidnapped, tranquilized and illegally extradited the nazi, Adolf Eichmann, in Argentina so he could answer for his crimes against humanity. It shows Nigeria is a good student. |
Coronavirus84:In Yoruba land the elders come in to create a balance. You don't wash your dirty linens to the glare of the public. It's not as if they're absolving the culprit of the crime, justice will sure take it's course. But the rancors if quickly not nip in the bud will create a ripple effect that may end up destroying the industry. Cutting off the head isn't the best solution to headache. What the youth won't see on top of an iroko tree is so clear to the elder seated on the earth. No true born who aspires to old age calls the well-meaning elders fools. Be careful what you wish for yourself. Iyabo and Nkechi are homely 'yoruba' ladies but they allowed their emotions either based on bitter past experiences to take control of their conceptions. The house will come out of this stronger. |
Hightser:You can't get what you're looking for here. For you to succeed you don't need validation from others. Those success stories you read about are from people who go out there to conquer. Go out there with a determination of a lion which doesn't eat dead animals but fresh ones. Behave as if nothing matters but ur success. |
Kingcalls:It's still the same thing, depending on where on where you stand. You see 6 another sees 9. One very day you will understand the difference. |
Commentor:You're all not thinking. If the FG wanted him dead they could have neutralized him over there and still leave without a trace. And that would leave lots of speculations but will sure leave his camp in disarray. But I think Buhari isn't that malicious like some people. The guy never thought of this, he also underestimated the FG. |
candidtalk:The criminals don't need to be British, but it could be anyone targeting British interests and so much wanted by them. The intelligence community knows their way around this thing. You just need to be careful |
Kingcalls:The line between the definition of a freedom fighter and a terrorist is very thin subject to the sensibilities and sentiments of who's defining it. The same way ISIS is seen by some as freedom fighters and other people see it as terrorist. |
OnionBandit:Where else? This is what we call Fulani question. Asking a question when you already know the answer to it. |
PeachtreeReside:If Nigeria is truly working Igbokwe has found a new home with people whose ideals conformed with his and wouldn't need the solidarity of a brotherhood that wants him dead. Until we learn to respect the differences in others and understand that nature deliberately made us to be different for a purpose we will continue to experience issues with ourselves. Joe Igbokwe is a citizen expressing himself, let him enjoy his time. He may have been a nobody if he was in politics in the SE but look at his office in his new home. Pls baba enjoy yourself, it takes brain and hardwork for an ibo man to attain your achievement in Lagos. You grew from nothing to something but out of envy some peeps want to bring you down. Victory and promotion come from God alone. |
Jesuschristus:Freedom fighters indeed. The struggles he brought lacks tactics and strategy. He only succeeded in filling the minds of a great people with hate. And one thing with hate is, it will end up consuming you. And the FG just proved the extent it could go. After the troops neutralized his 2nd man in the fashioned it did, the FG accessed ipob operational brain box. People like Sowore are cashing in on the instabilities going on around. If we the FG is deafened to our demands let's come together to force the closest government to us to order. |
Juliusmalema:How do you she was Christian? She cam from a Muslim family in Lagos Island. The ignorant man is just making something out of nothing. Mtcheeww |
simple250:He went as a governor serving with APC mandate. The rule if actually effected should see him resigning from that made first before it's expiration. Not the way it played out |
Ifearnoevil:Gaa means a small settlement, it's a Fulani word. In Yoruba it's budo or abata (found in Kwara). It's interchangeably used in Kwara sometimes, eg Gaa Akanbi. |
Some of these so called men of God are just drama kings. What has this gotten to do with the gospel? |
That's what you get when based your plans on extra ordinary power instead of your sense of logic. Those earlier bravery were based on the supposed invincibility of the jazz. How else will you go and combat a superior force with higher intelligence and security network just on the fake premise of juju. You can't achieve excellence in warfare by relying on such things. Great countries tasked their mental powers to get to where they are. |
The effects of those precolonial wars in Yorubaland taught the Yorubas a lot. Right from the olden days the Yoruba societies has always been a pluralistic one. People, families, communities worshipped different dieties such as ogun, oya, oshun, Shango etc without friction from the others. And this pattern transferred to their modern religious worships. Those trying to create disunity lately in Yorubaland are groups like CAN especially, and others like muric who felt they should challenge the excesses of CAN. Naturally to a Yoruba person you're yoruba first before any other thing. The christians started the attempts at one group trying to dominate the other in the SW. First by denying the Muslims access to education because most early schools were owned by christian missions. You must be baptized a Christian to attend some. Naturally, the tolerant Yoruba spirit in the muslims made some of them decided to take up baptism to be able to attend these schools. Some returned, some didn't. That explained the mixture in the families. Due to the pluralistic nature of the Yorubas they were able to overcome the wedge of division the colonial master were trying to drive into their polity. Some people like Richard Akinjide was born Rashidi before the forced name change. This continued until Muslim missions like Ahmadiyya, Ansar-ud Deen etc came to the rescue of the muslims with support from notable Muslims like Mohammed Shitta-Bey, Carew, Teslim Elias, the Solomons, Savages etc. We should never allow all these external bodies to divide us. What they don't know is that every Yoruba town, village is a mixture of every other Yoruba subgroups down to Benin republic. |
kingthreat:Seconded |
platido:That's if the robbers are not living in the same community. Remember that Yoruba proverb? |
Wickedtruths:Best answer.... |
sweetshisha:Such is life, what you set your mind to see is what you get. Those foreigners see opportunities while our people see failure. |
IPOBrep: |
Ewedegubbler:Peter Rufai is a good Christian. We Islanders don't beef other's success that's why other people are allowed free reign in our domains. Pls don't soil his name simply for the sake of likes |
yamunla:It's still one family bro. Ain't we all of the Idejo class again? Those are mere artificial demarcation. Let the family not be divided. One day your turn will come. Lol |
ipodstinks:Ask anyone from Lagos Island they will tell you about him. My advice, if you're ibo stay away from the protests in any part of SW tomorrow. I don't think it's difficult to just stay at home. |
