[quote author=rabcnesbit post=63928349]Question: why do kitchens and bathrooms/toilets get tiled from floor to ceiling all four walls in Nigeria? In Europe (not sure of US, but I believe same), just the space between the worktops and wall cabinets are tiled, the rest of the wall is just painted. Same with bathrooms, most times just half tiling, and the rest of the wall painted. Quote.

I like the kitchen wall tiled up to 3/4 of the wall because full tiling results in a hot kitchen when cooking is going on. You'd need to have an AC working to be comfortable .

My brother! Abeg no mind Dem all. If u dey listen to their voices u fit enter lagoon oo! Many never even drive a single car b4 for their life. I'm currently using a Volvo xc90 & it's sweeter than the Camry I used before it. Got a friend using d saloon too. It's not costly nor difficult by any means to maintain. Better still, write down d faulty parts and head straight to the market and ask. D fact that it's an older version doesn't mean d parts ain't gonna be there anymore. Do d market survey yourself and then make your decision. Well done.
I agree. One of our cars is the model he wants to work on. I know it is cheaper to maintain than the other cars we've used. One other thing is to get a mechanic who has experience with the 240GL. They are an old breed and were largely trained by the company that imported the cars till the 80s.

They also kidnap Fulani too.

They may not be Fulani.

I just hope the security services are seriously cracking down on the kidnapping along that road. They kidnap anyone, farmer, Fulani, traveller
Some weeks ago, the NPA managing director, Hadiza Bala Usman, was interviewed by Ms Adesuwa Oyenokwe on Channels TV. I remember her saying that Fulani men had resorted to kidnapping people on the Abuja- Kaduna road because of the constraints they had experienced in practicing their profession of cattle-rearing. I was shocked to hear the seeming justification of criminal activity but noted the acknowledgment that her people were responsible for the kidnappings. She is Fulani.
EducationRe: FG Approves Six New Private Universities (names) by lorhema(f): 11:42am On Dec 07, 2017
Are they all private universities? I understand that one of them is for the Navy and is in Delta State. I believe that's Admiralty University, Ibusa. Can it be described as Private' when it is funded by taxpayers?

Thank you, Lord, for the fact that these killers were nabbed. What could be the motive for killing a simple, hardworking man? They did it because they thought they would get away with murder. They'll have the rest of their lives to regret that act.

Mehn this is crazy, may thier souls rest in jannatul fiddaus.

Its a pity that mst people in this forum will start celebrating thier death just bcus they're Fulanis. Berom are the wicked set of people in Africa.
It's expanding because Irhigwe are now involved. Before it was Berom.
To get a settlement the truth must be told.

We are going back to the days of violence which ruined the economy of the Plateau and caused divisions in the society. We want peace!

EducationRe: Yoruba Language Bill: Lagos Schools Risk N500k Fine, Closure For Non-compliance by lorhema(f): 11:32am On Sep 29, 2017
I like the idea that children in Lagos should be taught Yoruba. A number of our family members have picked up the language and it's a good addition to their communication skills.
Wish it was the same in Plateau. I don't know of more than, say, four primary schools in Jos where Hausa is taught. Some teenagers I know who were born and have lived here all their lives can't speak Hausa and their schools don't teach it. Meanwhile it's the lingua franca here.

When they get into a secondary school where Hausa is taught ( there are a few) it becomes a problem for them because they lack the foundation in the language.

Good one there. Prof Kolawole Salami was a formal DVC during the Tenure of Prof O.O. Balogun who to many is believed and adjudged to be the best Vice chancellor of Unaab till date in terms of administration and infrastructural develop , academics and student welfare. . Am very sure he must have learnt one or two things from his formal boss Prof O.O.B. as Vc.
The new VC is Professor Felix Salako. Seems you have the name wrong.

What was discussed that warranted such loss of self control by both parties? Money! She pushed him and he got the chance he wanted to give her a beating. The other officers approved of his action which was why they didn't come to her aid. I thought thugs fought with broken bottles. Didn't know undergrads did too. It's all a big shame. A disgraceful episode.

The bolded was my Thinking, but this guys that live in this houses don't seem to fear that. and that the reason why I'm curious. I'm not an Agric Graduate. or an animal student, so wouldn't know what happens in that case, but experts can help me understand.

Architecture in Nigeria seems to need someone to shake off the shackles and explore.
Having plants like this on your house walls is, for me, an invitation to snakes or lizards or rats to get too close to us. It's an attractive look but I think, too, that when the climbers mature trespassers could use them like a ladder. These are the reasons why I'd pass.
Foreign AffairsRe: Hurricane Harvey: Mike Pence Tours Devastated Areas In Texas (Pics) by lorhema(f): 1:39pm On Sep 01, 2017
When I look thru the pictures of the flooding in Makurdi and these of the Houston episode I just imagine the emotional trauma people are experiencing. The loss of stability, basic comfort and a big question mark over their possessions. I watched a young man crying over the loss of 'everything he had' in Houston. I thought he is an example of the hundreds of people who are suffering today in Makurdi, Freetowm and Houston. I pray that the days to come will bring help and hope for each person.

doctokwus:
I tell you.
Ethiopia with all it's crisis and turmoil still very efficient in a very challenging airline environment.
This also puts lie to the now annoying cliche now becoming a chorus by African leaders that goverment is not good in running biz and should hands off.
I still maintain that what a properly run goverment enterprise can bring,100 private cannot. The problem Nigeria and other poorly run African govt led enterprises have is that they cannot separate cronyism, bigotry and family from biz leading to extreme corruption with employment of unqualified or poorly qualified individuals to run the enterprises.
I'm sorry but Ethiopian Airlines isn't a government enterprise. It has been a private enterprise for decades. Just like British Airways is a private enterprise.
TravelRe: Ethiopian Airlines In Talks To Take Over Arik Air. by lorhema(f): 6:44am On Sep 01, 2017
Ethiopian Airlines is not a government-owned company. It is a private- owned company and has been so for decades! I wonder why the people running it prefer to give the impression that they are an arm of government though.

With all due respect research for facts lecturers don't take your money. The only reason lecturers asked for exemption is because with TSA visiting lecturers to other federal universities can't be paid because their account will be flagged. Bvn complicated payments as it will be seen as double payment under the payment system. Same with part-time lecturers
No, not so. TSA has not affected the payments of visiting lecturers to other federal universities. Neither has the BVN. Perhaps there are other reasons for requesting the exemption.
