Our vaccination seems to be picking up. Phase 1 was health care workers; Phase 2a was over 60s; Phase 2b was over 50s; Phase 3 was teachers, police, military and prisons; Phase 4 currently is over 35s.
And in other news we're now locally producing both Johnson & Johnson (1 jab) and Pfizer (2 jabs) vaccines for SA, the African continent and elsewhere in the world (for poorer countries sourcing through the COVAX facility).

DubaiLandLord: A Nigerian military aircraft has reportedly gone down.
The location was given as “somewhere in Kaduna State”.
A source told DAILY POST that the crashed plane is an Alpha jet.
“The fighter jet left Yola, the Adamawa capital, this morning to go clear bandits”, the informant added.
Nigerian Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabwet, could not be reached as at press time.
Mohammad Abdulkadri, Special Assistant to the Defence Minister did not take calls.
The military has recorded a number of crashes in 2021 alone.
In May, an air mishap claimed the lives of serving Army Chief, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other officers.
On February 21, a Minna-bound military jet crashed, killing all 7 people on board.
On April 2, another Alpha jet crashed in Borno during an operation.
SOURCE If this is true, it re-inforces the point that the previous Alpha crash should've been retrieved. If it was mechanical, nobody knows. Just as nobody knows if the rest of the Alpha fleet have the same problem. |

Odunayaw: Too simplistic. Except the cause of the accident raises eyebrows there'd nothing like all you've said. I'm always in awe of people gifted with the talent to determine what went wrong -in a situation with multiple possibilities- based on looking at a photo. |

fachfouch: but Tunisia getting outranked by failed states does raises many questions GFP is never been a reliable source regarding Tunisia it have many mistake like the number of active soldiers and so on... it's true that Tunisia economy is small but it relative to population it's lower mid income so it can withstand a lot better than many countries ahead of Tunisia in the list... Oh I agree, hence my earlier mention of DRC and Libya not deserving their ranks. But, we're discussing GFP, not some other ideal ranking system. For better or worse, GFP methodology uses the indices it does, and by that measure, we can't quibble. We all have access to the same data, and we could compile our own rankings, including and excluding certain indices as we wish. |

AskiaHarem: You'd think he would have just turned himself in by now being an ex president you can't hide. All they have to do is for the ground element to keep an eye on the rabble outside the gates; land an helicopter inside the estate and order his bodyguards - who are police officers after all - to escort him to the chopper. |

It is 19:35 here in South Africa, and the police have until midnight to arrest Jacob Zuma so he can be jailed to serve his 15 month sentence for contempt of court. With a crowd of supporters - some armed - outside his estate vowing to violently resist, it is going to be a long few hours. Fortunately, the police aren't taking chances. bidexiii: I know all that mate, in terms of industrialization and development they are doing well. I know in terms of economy size and population we rank higher. The Tunisian military had always been at that level despite their developed military. To illustrate my point, the city of Lagos has a GDP almost double that of the whole country of Tunisia. Fighting total war -upon which the rankings are based - is not just about showing up with your current arsenal. You will lose assets and people. What is your capacity to replace those? Can you keep your economy running - to fund those losses - when your working age people are needed for the war effort? All of that informs what goes into the rankings, not just the trinkets currently in your millitary arsenal. That's why it's called Global Fire Power, not Inventory of military assets. |

bidexiii: Honestly how can a country like Tunisia with fine military be ranked 9th position.... The rankings dont just count shiny toys. They take into account various things like size of population, economy, levels of industrialisation, depth of R & D, mineral reserves etc. In other words, everything you'd need to fight total war. That's why DRC and Libya - failed states both - are ranked where they are. |

GabrielYulaw: The first pic shows the Type 63 MLRS or a derivative. I didn't know we have it in stock. It's a seriously capable short range MLRS and a lot of countries make their own copy.
Is the second pic a minigun? If so it doesn't appear to be externally powered.
The pic below if I remember correctly is from Turkey. They make an advanced Type 63 copy. Not a minigun. Multiple grenade launcher. Not much improvement can be made on the type 63, save for range and some accuracy. All the Turks did was put it into an armoured vehicle, which is also an old idea. Pic 1: prototype on Mamba APC, 1993. PIC 2: current Mamba version in use by Uganda.
