MxreR:You people can beat chest die! And your mouths will surely put you in serious trouble in the SW. You have been crying and wailing like babies that disruption in a single pooling point amounts to disfranchisement of Igbos but your 5 state, with rigging, could only produced 1.6 million votes for your Fulani lord. Igbos have 5 million voters in Lagos out of 6 million voters and you don't have shame that hundreds of remaining Yoruba voters (according to your chest beating and lies) have been producing governors since you have been known to always vote PDP. They even stopped 5 million of you from voting! Your cup will soon full and day of reckoning is almost here. Continue to open thread upon thread, a day is coming when you all will feel the other side of Yorubas; It's almost here. |
I have a very clean, first body 2000 Honda CRV use by wife but rarely used and I changed my mind at the point of selling it last Dec, wanted to keep because it's a problem free car. I changed engine to 2001 JDM model this January without much trouble with the old one but still don't use it. It's just like toks; I will give you 690k. |
kenex4ever:More confusion. It shows your level of understanding; you didn't come out to vote but a lot of you voted somewhere out of your region. |
kenex4ever:You are conflicting yourself; Igbo didn't come out to vote but voted massively in Lagos and Port Harcourt. I want to ask: why you people like to chest-beat? |
No tribe will smile if her people are called 'slaves' and her land 'no man's land' by the strangers living among them. |
Beninmann:Tolerance Becoming Crime ***************************** By Dr Oni Gbolabo 1. Why do they hate Tinubu? What for? 2. Beninmann:You and your 'want to liberate Lagos' noise everywhere! Have you liberated your Ebonyi or Abia, Bini storyteller? |
oyebanji44:He doesn't really have enemies; he easily mends fences and negotiate with others while his rivals and haters lazy away expecting miracles. |
JasonScoolari:And your entire region, upon their noise, gave Atiku only 1.6 million votes less than what SW gave. You people should just keep quiet and only gather likes on Nairaland and Twitter. |
Buharifanatic:It isn't religion passe but hypocrisy of some religious leaders in the South West. You can't compare Muslims population in Osun with that of Ekiti but Ekitis still voted for Baba. You should have seen Fayose and his goons boast before the election that Atiku/PDP would win every vote in Ekiti. Are those people voting for PDP in Ede, Osun West not Muslims mainly? South West electioneering is a bit different from other regions. There are lots of factors that swing votes; performance, independent nature of the people; lots of leaders trying to cut Aswaju Tinubu to size before he gets to position of Awolowo. PDP is also still very grounded in the region; it could have been worse for APC if PDP had given his chairmanship position to someone from SW. Atiku's first wife is also from SW and he has lots of quality friends from there. I expected a close voting results from SW, they are very liberalised; that doesn't mean they hate Osinbajo or the main factor is religion. Normally, they should have voted Buhari for his good work in the SW but the Economy is also a concern to some voters. |
ekiyorA:You don't know before; the media has been heavily bribed only very very few ones are not with Atiku/PDP. |
PennywysCares:'Awon Okunrin' = Men. Yorubas do call Igbo trader, Okoro = strong man (some do call Okoro ajokuta ma momi, someone that likes strong food; all nah strong man). I've never seen an Igbo man that objected to this but someone is trying hard to pitch the two largest tribes in the South against each other because of two Fulani old men. |
DMerciful:The write-up says, some people relocated their PVCs to the state, their new location. |
Atiku, a Fulani, is now Igbos' hero more popular than Kanu or any other living Igbo man. No more shout of 'no referendum no election' and 'the zoo must fall'. Atiku's issue is carried mainly by them and all bridges of political realignment with other regions to take their rightful place among the nation's leadership are being burnt and sacrifice for one man's interest/relationship and personal gain. |
Tambuwal will not know what hits him after the election. |
Buhari will definitely get nothing less than 70% of the votes in each of Ekiti and Ondo. l just smile at the online noise-makers beating their chests about Atiku winning South West; on what ground? |
Forget what 'online noise-makers' are saying, President Buhari will definitely get nothing less than 70% of votes in each of Ekiti and Ondo. |
Bbsharon:Very nice OP. However, the account was not completed, the wars were mainly with the Bini forces on one hand and Ibadan forces on the other hand; and these happened before 1895. Iyin warriors did not live in Esa caves but the Aged, Women and children and the place stocked with food. Iyin forces would rather fight to finish than lose a war; the 'Odun Opa' was created to instill toughness and perseverance in every age group from Eso, Origbo, Egiri, Agba-akin, etc. The four Quarters and sub-quarters of Iyin have different war chiefs being led by Saruku, Oisangan, Oisa, Balogun, etc. They are all being led by a General called Saribi. Iyin warriors were well organised and sometimes, the Oluyin, the king followed 'Omo Owas' to war. Two kings were captured by Ibadan but one was ransomed and came back to Iyin.... Iyin only had base around Ureje to join Ado forces against Ikere that was backed by temporary Bini forces in Akure and Ikere. The four Quarters of Iyin were not really together because of her wars until 1950. In those days, the cave could house all Iyin people and more. I don't know why the cave's mouth is still being closed; the ancient guards: a leopard and some rock pythons should be dead by now (don't even believe there are those animals there but to scare children away from entering the cave then). |
nickxtra:No state there even near Edo, Oyo, Kwara and Ondo |
baliyubla:Your brother Saraki may put himself in more trouble because senators never sat to arrive in this resolution of challenging the executive in supreme court. |
deboysben:Though I'm not in support of this but when Jonathan suspended Ayo Salami againt the wish of NJC, PDP and all of you celebrated it; and heaven didn't fall. GEJ sets the precedence. |
madridguy:Virtually all Ekiti towns and some other Yoruba towns put regents, female rulers and daughters of the departed kings on the thrones, before new kings are selected. It can take years for a new king to be selected/elected and it's very dangerous to put male regent. |
bluke:Otun - Ekiti, in Moba LGA (the title of the paramount ruler is Oore). In Ekiti dialect, regardless where it's spoken, some words are now preferred depending on the area, for example, in my area we prefer to call God 'Olohun/Olorun' ( the Lord of heaven) 'Aba-riṣa' (father of all gods), Eleda, Eledumare to the old one 'Eluaye or Oluaye (Lord of Earth) due to Christianity. Modifications continue to take place, the ancient dialect is being lost to the newly evolved one due to interactions with neighbours, migration of other Yorubas to the land and pularity of central Yoruba language in markets, religious and political gatherings. |
The funny thing is that all of you praised GEJ when he went against NJC's recommendation and removed Justice Salami as president of Court of Appeal. |
bluke:I don't think I know any Ilaje Ugbo person; I'm not residing in Yoruba land. Let me try in Ekiti: Genesis 1:1-3 1 Lu 'bẹrẹ (Latetekoṣe) Olohun (Abba'riṣa) da ọrun at'aiye. 2 Aiye na i li juju, o sofo; okuku i loju ubu. Emi Olohun i rababa loju omi. 3 Olohun wi (ṣu, fọ) ki umọlẹ a ihà; umọlẹ si ihà. Ekiti dialect tends to shorten and merge words. If you're translating English sentence into Yoruba, it would be shorter but shortest in Ekiti and other central and S/E Yoruba dialects. |
want2knowben:Exactly! I thought as such; I had wanted to do the translation in dialect I think might be closed to what he wants, Otun Oore (Moba dialect, which has also been influenced by Igbomina dialect) but I'm not so good in that but try my bit in Ekiti central dialect. There was even one Ekiti song like that: Elu o e, Elu o a... also my father's middle name was Akinyelu; Olu (Lord) is more common now just like every other Ekiti word, language is not static. Languages and dialects will continue to grow and decay, new words will emerge through slangs, borrowing and the rest. There are lots of dialectal influences in Ekiti right now (Ijesa, Igbomina, Okun, Akoko, etc.), only the central one seems to escape these but still greatly affected by central Yoruba. Ekiti my grandfathers and grandmothers spoke was quite different to what we speak now. The dialect has been undergoing 'modernisation', replacing 'wonderfully ancient' Ekiti words with central Yoruba words. |
ceejayMAX:You don't need a soothsayer to tell the failure of PDP in the coming elections. Chijioke Paul Okeifufe wrote: Registered Voters in Kano and Lagos States: 12million. Political party in both states is APC. One incumbent presidential candidate is in APC. Another former VP and presidential candidate is in PDP. Kano state is in the northwest, while Lagos state is in the southwest. The incumbent presidential candidate is from the northwest, while the incumbent vice presidential candidate is from the southwest. The other vice presidential candidate is from the northeast, while the vice presidential candidate is from the southeast. The northwest and southwest have 7 and 6 states respectively, with a total of 20,158,100 registered voters in the northwest, and southwest with a total of 16,292,212. Both regions have a total of 36,450,312 registered voters. Northeast have a total of 11,249,104 voters, while southeast have 10,057,130. Both regions have a total of 21,306,234. Northwest with 7 states have 6 APC governed states and 1 PDP governed state, while Southwest with 6 states have 6 APC governed states. Therefore, both regions with 13 states have 12 APC governed states and one PDP governed state. Notheast have 6 states with 4 APC governed states, including the state of the other candidate being governed by the APC and 2 PDP governed states. Then, the south east with 5 states have 1 APC governed states, 1 APGA governed states (openly rooting for APC) and 3 lukewarm PDP governed states. In a nutshell, Northwest and Southwest have a 12 APC states and 1 PDP state; while northeast and southeast have 5 APC states, 1 APGA state and 5 PDP dormant states. In both regions, out of the 24 states, APC have 17 States with one APGA state supporting them. And the PDP have 6 dormant PDP states. With the simple analysis I presented above, I, Chijioke Paul Okeifufe, hereby concludes that there is absolutely no hope for the PDP in the forthcoming presidential election. Those hoping for Atiku to win are just dreaming. Chijioke Paul Okeifufe |
I just don't understand Igbos' obsession with Yoruba affairs. In 1999 when Ekwueme was dragging with Obasanjo, no one showed this kind of inferiority complex. You people need to go and study 'Democracy'; though you deserve to be president but not given on platter of gold. You need to build bridges not burn the few you have; everything is calculation in democracy. The party and her leaders you abuse everyday and where you dodn't belong will not come and dash you presidency in 2023. You are massively supporting PDP and Atiku/Obi but still want to decide what happens in APC. shm! |
ImperialYoruba:Yeah, you can't be far from the truth; Aba rẹ a gbe ọ. Your message is delivered, though I don't reside in Ekiti. |
