adino: @Sainttracy. He's the chronic debtor renting my in-law's house (Mr. Ajayi) at Emure. He said since this tenant bought a laptop, he has started forming big and doesn't pay rent! ![]() A friend of mine from East Africa said some Kenyans are making a mint in Juba. Because of poor transportation link, goods from Nairobi & Kampala (the nearest big cities to brings things from) are very expensive. Hotel is expensive, in fact everything. Some hotels even use portakabin for now. A south Sudanese confirmed it. She said real estate will be big there in the future. If there's money to be made, Naija can't be far way. |
Why do you waste your breath on a person like Billyonaire or whatever he calls himself? He's one of those fairly comfortable and dispises the less-privileged. He always has a axe to grind with those abroad. He does it in every thread. He brags incessantly about how comfortable he is in the midst millions of impoverished people. He likes to wallow in self-deceit in the midst of the monumental poverty around him. I know of many people living in that same Nigeria who would have long died of diseases and poverty if not for their children/in-law/relatives abroad. He would make a typical corrupt, wasteful, hard-hearted and unrepentant Nigerian politician. aribisala0: how long do those living in Nigeria have to work for the same thing (terrace duplex in Lekki) |
There's something fishy about this story . Are we even sure this Olaolu guy wasn't involved in some illicit activities over there in Ukraine?
. Why do you think your fellow countryman has to be "involved in some illicit activities" there? You think Ukraine would not have highlighted this by now? Just imagine you as the ambassador there. |

crackhouse: if u are a woman and behaving this way, then, there is every possibility that u are not gonna make a good wife in ur hubby's home. Take it easy girl. Geeeez!. Abi o . When they say Nigerian women are the most arrogant, they will say it's not true. Imagine young educated women talking like this. What about the uneducated? Tufiakwa. |
mu2sa2: U r a liar. How is "a good christian" forced 2 bcom a muslim in a christian-dominated nigerian prison system. Worldwide many prisoners hv converted 2 islam because - one, they had time 2 study islam in detail & discovered 4 themselves d true religion of GOD; two, they could not believ d treachery of d fellows(christians) responsible 4 their plight. Islam is THE salvation 4 mankind. God guided ur relativ 2 d light of islam & he died a muslim. May God accept him into d ranks of those who earned his favour. May God also guide u and his other relatives to d Light of His religion:Whoever God guides is saved.. From you reply, you are very biased: I wonder if you can read or you are just too full of religious bigotry to reason properly. You assume christians are majority in prison. Even in Kaduna, Kano, Dutse, Sokoto etc? Have you been in all those prisons?? Oh I know how people like you think " I don't have to go to prison to know". Bias, bigotry and prejudice are good enough. You talk of Christian trachery, the policeman who killed Apo 6 in Abuja because the Ibo girl in the group turned him down, is he a southerner/christian? Hausa muslim armed robbers have raided my relatives' house in the South TWICE, carting away goods, money and mercilessly beating them. The last time with active connivance of their Aboki gateman. YET I have never thought about generalising. At least when my relative came back from prison as a muslim, we accepted and supported him. I guess some religion would have made him an outcast. It seems in your tiny little world of bigotry, everyone else is a liar, only you can tell the truth. Shake head. |
Oga ex-policeman, as you can see, the police is possibly the most unpopular body in Nigeria. That means a lot in a country with corrupt political system, judiciary, immigration, customs, civil service, you name it. It is by the grace of God that anybody would even read your story and offer any suggestion. About 27 years ago, the police framed a relative of mine and he languished in prison for years. The actual criminal with a very long history was openly enjoying himself with girls and riding a new car he bought using money from the crime. He settled the police handsomely. The alleged crime attracted death penalty. This relative suffered so much that a good christian turned muslim in prison by force! He lost a child while in prison. He got acquittted after a long court trial (tens of adjournments included). He never recovered from that injustice. He's dead long ago. The injustice you're shouting about is not comparable. |
Osario: Why are Nigerians so obsessed with paper qualifications? "Graduate Trainee Driver"' Graduate Trainee Banker", graduate trainee this, graduate trainee that. Why the madness? In any case, how trained are Nigerian graduates? I feel the whole thing is an index of underdevelopment. Come to think of it, How many Nigerian-trained PhD holders have written any book that's up to 500 pages? Can, for example, Nigerian PhD holder-governors like Uduaghan and Babangida Aliu, write a scholarly essay that is world class in their field?. Ehhh....Uduaghan is actually a medical doctor trained at UNIBEN. He was quite a very good consultant before going into politics. Doctors I know here in Europe who trained alongside him back then at UNIBEN are terrific surgeons etc. I think he's just as awful as most Naija politicians though. Naija academics actually write good books and are well-respected. The Naija environment that rewards mediocrity however, seems to frustrate and bring out the worst in people. I had my tertiary education in Europe by the way. |
y me: This is quite hard to wrap one's hand around. . . .. It may be true o my sister. I have seen it happen to people koro koro. University of London(UCL, King's, Queen Mary, Royal Holloway, LSE, SOAS etc) no send anybody. Late submission= zero mark. Shikena. |
ritux: Frankly speaking, except God does something, there is no way your sist will win any appeal. Like somebody said up there, the guidelines f☺r submitting coursework are clearly stated.. I think you said it all. Some lecturers can be quite mean BUT very nice to some other people. |
Last time I checked, zinc sheet rooftops were all over Nigeria, so try again. What's Texas got to do with this? I'm not even in texas homie, checking again, my profile said "Ekiti". We'll get there, but we've been getting there for 40 years now. I think people are still building new homes with these irritating rooftops.
Well, Ibadan is a sprawling metropolis. Perhaps larger than most in West Africa. You will have your work cut out to replace those roofs! Replace Texas with London, Bavaria, Cote d'Or, Brabant, California. Ileke, have you ever built a house from scratch before? If you built one with stone roof maybe it's because you are rich. Not everyone is rich. And most build it from honest income. Consider this example: A friend in Naija lost her husband some weeks ago. She phoned to tell us. We were worried here in diaspora how a civil servant was going to provide for 5 kids all by herself. But we were relieved to hear that they just moved into their own house last December. When we met last October, they were still tenants. Does it really matter to that family that their roof is zinc or stone? Most likely not. They have roof over their heads. Thank God. Eat some proper Ekiti yam and chill. |
It's really irritating to look at. I think it's about time to start outlawing it on home/building constructions.
. Ileke, are you going to give people money to replace those zinc roofing sheets all over Ibadan? People can even build a house to live in and you're not happy. You want us to turn to Texas overnight, bah? Na step by step o my dear, we'll get there one day. Amen. |
I cry a river anytime I hear Somalia & Afghanistan national anthems. .Afam, instead of you to get emotional when you hear "eyimba eyim" or something closer to home. Dis ya own no be patriotism, but FOREIGNTRIOTISM |
What is B3 and D7? In my time, you had A, C, P and F. My parents only talked about getting A1-A3. Worst case scenrio C. Anyway I didn't do tertiary education in Naija but I doubt if D7 is below credit grade, that they'll admit you. But they say nothing is impossible in Naija. |

This is again acute failure of society and government. That lad was seriously let down and paid with his life. The woman most likely has psychiatric issues. Until somebody goes about unclad in Naija, we don't think they have mental problems. That woman should not have been raising children without proper anger management or even mental health attention. The woman might not be fit for trial (mental problems) in an advanced country. We risk double tragedy here. A young life lost and a mad woman who was not treated being sent to prison. Very sad. RIP poor lad. |

When you recruit mad men into the police, the result is inevitable. All policemen should undergo psychiatric test every year. Beginning with the IG. While we are it, all ministers, senators (to exclude dementia, alzheimer's etc in those old men) and representatives should do same. Normal people can't possibly loot as they do. |
We are not going to get anywhere by turning every thread into a regional supremacy arguement. Someone posted a thread about his observations, instead of northerners to educate us, they are pointing out other things about the south. If the northerners have things to say about the south, please open a seperate thread for that. We can see why we cannot move foreward. If you catch a Southern lootocrat, southerners say northerners are also looting so it's because he's a southerner. When a northern lootocrat is arrested, same thing. Are we even ready to be one country at all? |
ajobes: and there are many more of professionals in all field of endeavour today in the north. i mean real frofessionals.. Not only in Naija: I have a core northerner acquaintance in Uk who is a lawyer, another a physics academic. Fact is if given a good opportunity they excel but the percentage that gets that opportunity is higher in the South than in the North. So even 30+ years back many were going down south for that opportunity. |
The spate of armed robbery by hausas in the South now is alarming. Is this also part of their Jihad or just plain criminality? My relatives were robbed repeatedly with the connivance of the Aboki security guard. Thank God no lives lost. |
The problem has been there a long time. Many Northerners were sent to southern boarding schools even 30 years back. I had many of them as mates. They were often kids of army officers and federal civil servants who had worked in the south before and saw the difference. When transferred to the North, they sent their sons back south to study. These guys are engineers, accountants etc today. |
Ucheosefoh: I have a feeling dat London Olympic is going to be one of de worst Olympic in modern era. It already is in my opinion. I'll probably just keep my tickets as souvenir and not go. If the kids will let me that is. |
Its simple. We go around d world calling Nigeria as Naija which sounds lyk Niger. They had no choice. Funny enough, these so london olympic isnt intresting @all compare to Belgin. Who non come get money pay N1000 for dstv, no go watch olympic. London 2 lyk money.
. Britain is commonly called Blighty. I have never seen anyone replace their flag with Belarus or Biafra flag. No my friend. Mostly likely you don't speak French but Niger is pronounced "Neejair" internationally, so nothing to do with Naija. |
ideylaff: Stop over reacting... its got nothing to do with 9 Billion. ATOS Origin are running the systems.. heads will roll, people will be reprimanded unlike us. See who's talking. I have been a victim of British bureaucratic inefficiency and incompetence that ruined my family holiday among other things. To the point that I treat their officers as if children are in charge. If you are not meticulous yourself, you may see their error-prone ways as normal. Maybe you still over-rate their system. So was my wife when she was still new here. Until she saw things for herself. Goodluck is not hosting any olympics, London is and I prefer him to go and deal with other majority black nations than siphone more money to England, with an entourage of 320 people, all being lodged in expensive London hotels. No head will roll. Here is just advanced Naija. |
British Islanders don't know much about other people apart from America. All the inefficiency and bureaucracy Naija has was inherited from Britain. Fire brigade approach is a normal thing here. Imagine, they couldn't learn national flags after 7 years of preparation & £9 billion. |
