In the West, suicide in prison is common. That's why things like belts, bedsheets, shoelaces are not allowed in. Maybe as the average Naija man always hopes his family can "settle" and set him free someday, suicide is rare in prison. So perhaps the police and NPS don't take adequate precaution. See difference between Africa man (Farouk Lawan) and this Italian. Farouk is accused of $620, 000 (potentially ($3m), snuck out of police cell: slept with his wife, had a bath, change clothes and all what not and returned WHILE a European killed himself over $111,000 accusation. Worlds apart. |
@Poster: You mean the man's house/album has no tell-tale signs of his family? He hid his 2 kids from you for good 2 years? can you call that a pastor. What else is he hiding from you. Op will not reveal the name of the church because her bread and butter come from there. Paying tuition fees as a foreigner (under 3 years of legal stay in UK) for 4 years is not cheap. Anyway, women generally prefer liars and cheats (never mind they claim to love honest guys). I see it everyday. Good guys lose out while liars and cheats rule. |
Nagoma, The problem with the North is that self-acclaimed educated people like you and the elite are in denial. The sooner you accept that you're heading towards Somalia or Afghanistan situation up north, the better for you. We're now tired of you guys down South. I am personally ashamed to be associated by accident of a colonial-contrived origin with Boko and you guys. You will never be as educated as I am. No quota system to favour Northerners in Europe. Universities in Germany or France or Sweden or elsewhere will not admit you to read the most demanding courses based on your tribe or religion or national character. So don't go there. If you want me to go to Yemen and read Jihadology, keep dreaming. It seems to be the only education you guys value these days. |
@Poster sorry to hear your story. Both of you need to think things through. But the topic is a bit misleading. I am not a muslim but what has being a muslim got to do with this? I thought the issue was a religious one. Have you considered the following: Does he disapprove of the kind of business you do? Maybe regarding usury and stuff? Or does he possibly disapprove of your going out to earn money at all? Was he always a bit tight-fisted but you decided to see things through rose-tinted glasses? or did he change along the way? Did he grow up in a ploygamous home where his father's wives had to fend for themselves? How long have you been together and you just realised this aspect of him? What was his reaction when you told him you needed a break? These may betray whether you have just done what he was hoping for: to get rid of you. |
And "Oxford educated"people like you blame GEJ for nearly 35years that your people ruled and ruined the country. Now that your people are not ruling, you are bombing everywhere. I am not a fan of GEJ. I have not lived in Naija for decades. I left when your Babangida messed up Naija and entrenched corruption. The thing is simple. You guys should go and form your Jihad Republic! Let everyone go their seperate ways. It's obvious we don't belong in the same country. We differ so much that we're parallel lines. No need to argue here. You people are just in your comfort parasitic zone, afraid of reality and change. I am not ready anymore to know anything about people who blame GEJ/Southerners for the murderous indoctrination of many northern people. I want to be blissfully ignorant. I don't want to become a terrorist. lacasa: Thatz all ignorant people do n say. |
135k EOD. What do you say? |
My Dear Airgirl, You must really underestimate all those our grandpa/gramdma when it comes to BEDMATICS. Even the Romans were already into Bj and all what not. They even named it felatio! I don't think grandpa/grandma ever sat you down and told you how they did "it". I know we don't like to imagine our grandparents doing such BUT they were one bad guy in their time. They know everything under the sun. Years back, the kind of stuff I used to overhear some 80, 90 years old men talk about drinking palmwine (during holiday visit to village), you will be shocked. |
Yield: Any man who says he cannot kneel down to propose to a woman is insanely prideful. And frankly, if you've a problem doing something so honourable and innocent, then you shouldn't be getting married. Kneeling down to propose to a woman does not make you less of a man. In fact, it's quite the opposite! Why should we make a mountain out of a molehill? Lay down your pride!. Are you African at all? If you're, I don't think your grandpa proposed to your grandma kneeling down. I can bet my last £ on it that they had/have a more stable home than all these fake ones people are into today. Must you copy every western thing? When I proposed to white women (I never married any of the two), I didn't even dream of kneeling down. What nonesense. Ok it's a personal choice but completely irrelevant. |
@ Nagoma, Your Northerners threathened to make the nation ungovernable so that people like you can say civilised/educated southerners cannot rule. Only "born to rule" stark illiterate northern jihadists can rule. Bravo. You guys are doing a great job bombing yourselves to pieces. when the dust settles, every man for himself. To your tent O Israel. I don't want to have the same nationality with bloodthirsty people hoping to use viagra to wire 72 virgins in hell. Nagoma says "Can the south rule Nigeria at all , let alone ruling it justly? They are unable to prove this , despite the decades of boasting about their high level of education and " civilization" . Nigeria is turning into Somalia and the all knowing southern government is helpless and blaming everybody except themselves. Fresh air indeed!" |
Captainajama: @ballabrigs,we should know when someone is actually trying to do a good thing. The police force is long overdue for reform and overhaul, just like PHCN. Take a closer look at this two sectors and you will find out that the magnitude of decay therein s quite overwhelming, GEJ is trying to do what no one has done in the 52 year history of this nation(simply to stop the conduit pipes connected into this sectors from draining us further) let us not be too pessimistic and give this administration a chance.. What will they do? Change uniform again? That's probably as far as they will go and then make noise and do gra gra and that's it. How can they fix an amount of money without any proper study, analysis, public consultation and recommendation by experts as to what is needed to truly overhaul the police? How much was spent on roads and PHCN from 1999 till 2011? Any positive results? |
So this is what some moderator has reduced our "once great NL" to. O mase oo. Anyway Naija was once great, so NL should follow. Every silly topic gets to front page now. Seun do something. Talking about doing something. SEUN WHAT HAPPENED TO NAIRALIST? Has a rival website settled you? Na Naija we dey talk about na. |
ol' boy you no tire? Many of the replies here show that many NLers are teenagers, either age-wise or brain-wise. For one, I happen to know many doctors here in UK, all doing quite well. Nurses too are abundant. Even a guy who was jobless in Naija after leaving Naija Premier uni came to the UK, did odd jobs, saved money, built a decent house and started a business back home. He returned for good to Naija 3 years ago and is doing well. There would even be more robbers/criminals in Naija without the $10bn diasporans pump into the economy yearly. In some naija cities, real estate is about the only booming business partly due to diasporans. Some ajebutas (like our mis-leaders) cannot see beyond their noses. What is the rate of employment in Naija today? It cannot be less than 35%. If everybody stayed in Naija, you might not have that bank/IT/telco/insurance/civil service/well-paid job you're doing now. The bottomline is, whatever diasporans do abroad (hopefully not illegal), many have dragged themselve and many others back in Naija out of absolute poverty in a country without any welfare system. I know what am talking about. gbollykore: Where did people get the idea that everyone that live overseas wash dishes and do menial jobs, there are Nigerians that are professionals, business owners, and so on |
quest003: If u ve a back ache, dey wil tel u they'll nid 2 change ur kidney and liver, preferable wit tokunbo as new ones dsnt last and dey wil also nid 2 straightn ur spinal cord,Actually, kidney stone does give back ache. A late friend's metastatic cancer was initially ascribed to kidney stone that scans revealed. Of course it wasn't quite right and led doctors to wrong diagnosis. This happened in an advanced western country. A bit serious for a humourous post but it could help someone. Our mechanics are trying o. Compared to our govt, they are trying despite poor training facilities and quality control. |
Foyanmun: I am about to relocate to Nigeria from Holland. I have an eight year old Benz ML320 which i have been using for the last 18 months. Is it a good idea if i ship this vehicle home or is it advisable to sell it and buy a Japanese brand instead? Suggestions from Naija residents who have actually used ML320 in Nigeria will be highly appreciated.@Poster, It depends o. Roads in Abuja and Aba or Ibadan are not same. In Naija environment, apart from just road, you have to consider other things: (1) Maintenance: ML can be costly which is affected by road quality of course.I don't drive ML but 3 relatives do in Naija and some friends here in Europe. All talk about cost. (2)Image: In Naija the close relatives who drive them are businessmen/contractor & chiefs. Image of an elderly person. If you want to project the image of a successful contractor and you're returning home to submit tenders here and there, then fine. If you're going home and trying to blend in, a Toyota 4runner might be better. (3)Your pocket + family situation: If you are married with kids, you don't need a car that can cost a lot to keep on the road. Private school fees can be high in Abuja/Lagos. Except of course money is no problem. You may actually need more than one car if you're married. If you and Mrs use the same car, it could be inconvenient. A Toyota Camry for Mrs will do nicely. |
Holiday with family: 2 weeks usually. Enough fun for the kids before it gets boring and start asking of their friends abroad. Other visits: 10 days to 6 weeks. Depends on reason for going. |
@wakababe, I graduated in UK just over age of 30. Although I did several courses before but all were below degree level. In my class, a few people were even older. One of them, her baby brother was to become one controversial minister in OBJ's government years later! With all humility, I did better than most younger peers. I still haven't stopped learning totally. OK I wasn't married then and no kids. Still she should consider a few things carefully: child care, spouse's support, finances (including any responsibility towards anyone in Naija), effect on her current job etc. If she was in London, Birbeck College (University of London) would be a perfect place to do a part-time evening course (4 years). I didn't know that myself and did a gruelling full-time course and tried to earn money as well. I reckoned I was too old to take student loan and pay back for so many years. The feeling is great when you finish, especially with flying colours. |
bsparks: I don't see anything wrong with it. If u follow the flow from the begining of the advert, I'd say Coca Cola is doing great PR for Africa - IMAO. Not PR is needed in Africa, we have enough "shuffering & Shmiling a la Fela". They need to show corporate resposibility. The insulting thing is to refer to the whole of Africa as if it is one homogeneous country. While Naija politicians are busy with harlots, pepper soup and owambe( similar to coke ad), some in Ghana & elsewhere are planning for the future. |
Mukina2, I guess you're too much into Prosperity gospel preachers from the way you seem to view wealth and extravagance. I know of some naturally frugal/thrifty people. Many have loads of property yielding lots of money. One in particular wears almost the same French suite daily. Another man into property development regularly sells houses for N25m, N35m but he's extremely frugal. People's upbringing also matters. The frugal guy lost his dad around 7 years of age. Worked as a labourer to pay fees at school. He has around 9 graduates today, some he sponsored to do MSc abroad. In this age of rampant kidnapping, some go along way to look ordinary. |
logicboy: Children in the West are better than your corrupt Nigeria. Better educated, better healthcare and better opprotunites when they grow up.Last time I checked, Dr Iweala, Ngozi Iweala's husband is a neurosurgeon. There's no evidence that he was born/raised in USA, Sweden or UK. |
ismhab: A dead person is dead, no body can return him back to the universe, or do u mean we should spend all the year mourning, "ana bikin duniya ake na lahira."From this reply, it's obvious we don't quite realise Nigeria's diversity. Just because people carry the same passport does not mean they are culturally identical. Take the elaborate funeral in many parts of the South to the one in the Muslem North for example. It may just seem normal to many Northerners. See how Aj Harem (a half Northerner) is struggling to see what the fuss is all about. Blame Lord Lugard for it. Shikena. |
Smilenw: Somebody please enlighten me- those who say Indians r this n that, why do you all go to do business with them when you know they are the most corrupt people in the world? Who is forcing Nigerians to work with Indians? When you dont like someone, stop associating with them- do they put you on gunpoint from quitting? (dont know anybody in Nigeria who works for Indians and hence the question). Tell me any of the above that have not short-changed all of us? Oh well, you might just be one of the few making money from the whole messed up system. Even with tribe, people being employed/admitted/given priority because their tribesman/woman happens to be in charge. |
More transparency is indeed welcome. A sitting CBN governor should not be doling out money to every Mannliness and Harry. CBN is not a charitable foundation. That said, B. Saraki is the last person to be sitting on a banking committe of the senate. Has he paid back the millions of dollars he basically swindled from the likes of Jay-Jay Okocha when he ran down SocGen? |
Kobojunkie: Whether indians own the largest block of shares or not, Nigeria has just shown the world that it is INTOLERANT of people of other races. The plane was not flown by an indian, the plane in question has yet to be investigated, and there has, not been any real evidence presented that it was faulty from the hanger to begin with, but so many Nigerians have gone online to demand that the company be punished on grounds that it is owned/run by Indians.Get off this your high horse. You are one of those who condemn a Nigerian the most when he/she is accused of anything abroad whether or not he/she has been found guilty. It is also people like you in various govt departments who let foreigners get away with everything in the name of tolerance. Why have the Indians not been seen since the plane crash? Do you think Nigerians will be allowed to own an airline in India? What planet do you live on? Nigerians don't tolerate foreigners and foreigners are looting the country with local collaborators. Be a coconut. Good for you. |

Good say Omotola no follow dem expose the nice food my broda dey chop for public. If person tok na, dem go say na badi belle. I no dey laugh oo. |
Can this baby go for 270k? |
Let them be fantasizing, especially the ladies. Just when they think they have found "him", the next thing dem go hear be say e don give anoda woman belle outside. Na one such matter my friend sister just dey face now. Na so dem go ignore good people in the name of list. Make una go china go order doll baby. All those compiling their list, how many of una meet those criteria? I didn't make a list. I just prayed to God and so far (eleven years on) am happy with who he provided. |
Guys, Let's stop fighting over this matter. LET's THANK GOD THAT THE KIDS WERE NOT IN THE HOUSE. This is my own idea of miracle. Not claims to raising another Lazarus from the dead as many Naija MOGs do in this 21st century. Let's pray for another miracle that their parents are still alive in the rubble. |
gbadexy: I agree with you to some extent that the arabs have history of being unruly and violent before the advent of islam.islam came to mellow them somewhat but they culturally\historically temperamental, but the terrorists call themselves freedom fighters resistind america and the west anti-islamic policies.@gbadexy, I don't know how enligtened you are. Who told you there is no islamic terrorism in Asia? Have you ever heard of Indonesia? India? The Philipines(MILF fanatics)? Please google it. |
@pet79 Eyaa. Pele. You need to sit down and think of what to do. First, ensure that girl your boss is kpekusing is actually your babe. If she actually is, get hard evidence. E.g. use your mobile phone to snap the communication between them. That's the easy part. Second, think even harder about way forward. Since the dude is your boss, you must consider if you want to keep the job. Is it a well-paid/dream job? Do you want to keep it? The job market is not good right now. Except you have special skills highly in demand (not based on hearsay but reality). Sorry to say but if it is your dream job, a philandering babe is not worth losing it for. Just pretend not to but end it with her. Tell her your "intense" relationship with her is distracting you from your job. You want to focus on ur job for now. Your boss might even promote you when you let him have her all to himself. THIS IS NOT CHICKENING OUT BUT PRAGMATISM. Your boss (who is most likely already married) might even dump her after that as the attraction of nyanshing his employee's babe will be gone (yes, some people are pervs). Nna life is not fair. Your boss may have promised her a job which you cannot give her. Count yourself lucky. What if she was doing this after getting married to you? |
