scribble: Queen of Sheeba is buried in Ijebu and it is a UNESCO heritage site.

Just FYI
I find it hard to believe it's the same Queen Sheba of the Bible.

Tho Arabs call her bilqis and Ijebu call her their high chief bilikisu

Wat if that's a title?
And when did Ijebu migrate from Sudan?

Isn't Queen Sheba from Ethiopia/Yemen?

TerraCotta: Jebusites are to Ijebu as Edomites are to Edo, or Orissa in India is to Orisha in Nigeria. There is no cultural, ethnic or religious relationship beyond the coincidence of terms that sound alike. This is not an unusual situation around the world; the human mouth can only produce so many sounds and some of them are bound to be similar.

Carry on.

Katsumoto: Ethnic legends do not refer to other groups because the legends are meant to Whole. If Greeks knew there were other supreme gods other than Zeus, do you think they wouldn't have prayed to those other gods. Those legends were started by offspring of the legends. That is why they are referred to as mythologies - mixing facts with stories. Did Oduduwa climb down from a chain? Did Oduduwa really create earth? Would Archilles have lived if his head was split open by an axe since legend as it that his mother didn't protect his heels while bathing him?
Zeus is same in every tradition just different name and different personification.

The theory of Oduduwa coming though a chain carrying a bag of sand to create dry land was symbolic

Oduduwa= dark energy that carried atoms

I don't know how to interpret the story properly but Oduduwa there wasn't a man but a universal force

Their ape-like ancestors were already in Ife and by the time modern man arrived Ife was believed to be earths first land because the earliest history they knew was Ife even tho other places existed around Ife by that time

In other traditions eg. Jews believe the world started around Ethiopia because the earliest history they knew was around that area

740megawatts: So, you believe all the names I listed above have no relevance to ancient kemetic sun god, HORUS? You and I both know that religious practices changes over time, this happened even in ancient Egypt itself. The Pharaohs in Kemetic period had supreme powers to determine the state religion, and this is often enforced everywhere. Infact, there are numerous cases of subjugation of gods over others depending on the number of influential followers they have in those days. My take is this, all those names I listed as being related to indigenous Yoruba worship are more than 90% related to Horus. The Horus worship was far the most influential cult in the whole of Nubia and Kemet (Misri). Let's look at these quotes:
assumptions here, we have some religious practice that is similar to kemet like some are similar to Arabs, Chinese, greeks etc.
"The use of his name was also widespread in personal names throughout Egyptian history, and Hor, as a personal name, survives into our modern era in a number of different forms.

The original form of Horus was probably that of a sky god, known as "lord of the sky". The Egyptian word " her" (hor, har), from which the god's name is derived means "the one on high", or "the distant one", probably in reference to the soaring flight of the hunting falcon, if not a reference to the solar aspect of the god.

Horus was apparently worshipped at some of Egypt's earliest shrines such as at Nekhen (Heirakonpolis), where he was assimilated with a number of other local falcon gods. In this capacity, Horus was the patron of the Nekhen monarchy that grew into the historical pharaonic state and hence, the first known national god.
"

Here's the interesting one, the worship of Horus actually spanned over three thousand years (3000 years):

"However, one must remember that this god's worship spanned some three thousand years, during which time he was venerated throughout Egypt, as well as outside of Egypt."

I don't have time to cite books as I am very busy at the moment. As you can see, It is most likely that this cult existed and was very popular among the ancient Yoruba people. However, it's prominence must have diminished over years due to new religious ideas been proposed to replace the older religious settings. Might I add, that even the cult of Isis might have been carried into Yorubaland, I read somewhere that ISESE is the corruption of Isis.
So to your doubts, did the Yoruba forefathers ever worship the sun? Well, it is absolutely very possible as there are no written records dating back events before 1 AD to confirm our correctness. But even as recent as 1900's, we had rock worship, river worship (Osun river), tree worship; so why not sun worship as far back as 1 AD?
We have no records of Sun worship in Ife(most ancient Yoruba city)

But the Sun is the most important thing because it gives ase to the world.

There isn't rock worship(not mountain worship) or tree worship, the two are attributed to Orisha Ile(Oodua) and not many people worship her, but she is given high respect

Katsumoto: People migrated to different parts of the world. Do you think God created man in every region of the world. The Yoruba, like other groups, migrated from somewhere. If you read into the origins of man, then you will get a clearer picture.
Modern man evolved from ape-like mammals whom would have journeyed the world and settled in various places until evolution to man took place.

So I still stand that Ife is the main origin of Yoruba people.

Why are people trying to fix a migrating location for the Yorubas?

You seem not to realize that before Oduduwa, Ife was already a progressive territory and had neighbors which Oduduwa's grandchildren conquered
The fact that Ijebu recognize their Sudan origin doesn't make other Yoruba nations like them.

If u want to start connecting places to Ife, wat happens to Benin, formerly Igodomigodo?
Culture › Re: A Short History Of Yorubaland With Pictures by macof(m): 1:38pm On Nov 22, 2013
Tony Spike: From your quote, Kats. Yeah, Sudan is probably the most important candidate to snoop around for linguistic origins surrounding the Yoruba language. But my initial suspicion has always been that our Sudanese ancestors were somehow connected to the Luo (Luwo) people. I have read the history of the Luo people on how they migrated out of Sudan. My conclusion seems to be that the Yoruba group left Sudan at least a thousand years before the Luo group. Coupled with the glaring evidence of Kemetic religious influence of the Horus cult in Yoruba religion, we may be looking for a Sudanic migration into Yorubaland as early as 1500 BC - 2500 BC. The Horus influence in Yoruba religion was so profound that even the word 'ORISHA' was coined from it. Check out the list of Yoruba words I believe were coined out from the Kemet sun god, HORUS:

ORI (Head)
ORUN (Neck)
ORUN (Sun)
ORU (Midnight)
ORUN (Heaven)
ORO (Cult)
ORISHA (Lesser gods)
ORO (Word)

The Kemet picture of HORUS usually emphasizes on the head. So, I am not surprised that parts of the human body (ORI and ORUN) were dedicated to him. The sun was his domain, hence, ORUN, in Yoruba. He was reputed to resurrect by every morning, hence, the midnight (ORU) is dedicated to him. This act of resurrection may be the masked ORO festival we witness. He has sons/daughters, hence, ORISHAs. I hope I'm making sense here cos I'm not that into Yoruba religion despite being Yoruba.
So, my take is that the dominant migrant group could easily have mostly been elite devotees of HORUS. Could they have been expelled out of Kemet? Because I believe their migration party was as large as those of the Bantus. What is your opinion of this, Kats?
U seem to be forcing it.

All I know is that language similarities exist between kemet and Yoruba. But the religious practices are very different

Yoruba don't even have a Sun God, the Sun is just Olodumare's ball of Ase which feeds the world.

If u still have more points I'll love to see
