Blackfyre: Stop shifting goal post, who is Olu Iwa in Ife to give his daughter to Oduduwa? Why did he do so? Isn't that incestuous if Olu Iwa if you claim is a kin to Oduduwa? I never said olu-iwa was related to Oduduwa. It is well known that the whole of Ijebu isn't of Sudanese extraction but by Olu Iwa, the dynasty has the blood. not one family compound in Ijebuland is of Sudanese extraction Now why did they leave the Caliphate? Because it is well known they are idol worshippers which Islam forbids.... oh My! Comprehension problems, you aren't intelligent at all. You have just posted the very point my last post was trying to make Ijebu is a traditionalist land. Very typical Yoruba land with all the irunmole and orisha, how can people from Waddai (a Muslim caliphate) come and create a country filled with orisha and irunmole Common sense Ps. Orisha veneration is not idol wordhip, if you want to.learn Yoruba history you have to kick out all those religious nonsense from your head Post links to back up your claims, this one you are pulling figures and conjectures from thin air or from one Oriki.... sorry I rarely post links on Yoruba history, there are hardly any 100% accurate materials on the internet. And when I do post, I post excerpts from Google books with reliable authors Ijebu history doesn't have much academic following unlike Awori, Oyo and Ife, so most books on Ijebu are stacked with rubbish Facts you only need to concern yourself with are 1. Ijebu ode is older than Waddai. Waddai did not exist when Ijebu ode was founded 2. Ijebu cannot have had a Muslim caliphate as a origin 3. Olu-iwa is not the first leader in Ijebu. He also met people there. Eredo is older than Olu-iwa 4. "Olu-iwa" is a title...his name according to oral Ijebu traditions is Osinfaderin |

Is this thing in the blood or should we blame Lai Mohammed for inflicting you guys? akiolu never said Bini own Lagos. In that video, he only said the Oba of bini is paid homage to at Enuwa, outskirts of lagos Enuwa happens to be the real bini camp. Lagos town itself is Aromire's land |

Blackfyre: Knowledgeable elders aside the Awujale? An Oriki is what tells us who Olu Iwa is in Ife and why his daughter was given to Oduduwa?
You people basically know nothing about the Ijebus... Mr. Man relax your nerves. The Awujale did not grow up in a traditional background neither is he a historian. If you are sincere with yourself you would agree that for about a century now Yoruba history has been turned over to a freak show tale where everyone has something to say....the Awujale is one of those who doesn't know what he is saying Ijebu cannot be from waddai 1. Ijebu ode(which isnt even the oldest ijebu town, its just the largest) was founded around 1250 AD, and Waddai was founded around 1500AD 2. Ijebuland is filled with Yoruba tradition and culture to the extent that there is no foreign influence save for little Bini touches in Ijebu waterside...certainly no Sudanese influence 3. Ijebu was traditionalist country...Waddai was a Muslim caliphate It's common sense |

Blackfyre: Proof that Olu Iwa came from Ife? Who exactly is Olu Iwa in Ife? well that's Ijebu history as told by knowledgeable elders all over ijebuland I'm not too conversant on Ijebu rituals and traditions but I know Ijebu oriki recount an Ife origin Btw. Olu-iwa was not king of Ijebu...there was no one single political structure. Obanta was a more central personality over much of ijebuland than olu-iwa. |

Blackfyre: Those elders of yours deserve to be flogged and you too for being a bad research student....
Obanta known by his real name Ogborogamida is the grand son of Olu Iwa the first Awujale who came from Waddai present day Sudan. His mother Gborowo is the daughter of Olu Iwa, but because after the death of Olu Iwa, he was sent for from Ife to inherit the crown of his grandfather. Olu Iwa gave out his daughter to Oduduwa in Ife as a good gesture after passing through Ife to Ijebu.
Go and tell your elders who left that part out,how the river named Osun Gborowo got its name and why they continue to offer sacrifices to it till this day.... Greiboy has told you nothing but 100% Yoruba history. Obanta was son of Oduduwa and Gborowo. Therefore Gborowo is considered the mother of Ijebus Olu iwa also came from Ife. Ijebu has however existed before both Obanta and his maternal grandfather(Olu-iwa) Olu-iwa led a fraction of the Idoko people from Ife who themselves weren't the first in ijebuland. Eredo is proof to that |

I'm not saying he was right to have asserted that the yoruba language was spoken in the Benin palace but to refute it with British not stating that is joke in itself. Blackfyre: But i thought the Idejos own the lands in Lagos?
Plus when the Onirus were paid about 300 thousand pounds by the state government decades back, why wasn't that amount paid to the Bini/Lagos Royal family? Or are the Onirus Bini? oniru alone is more significant in lagos than this Erelu kuti who has no ancestral land the land she lives on belongs to Aromire, who she calls 'onile' (land owner) anytime she should meet him. Some years ago i was told that there is no current Aromire chief, something about the family is split. i don't know how true but I think this is why these troublemakers have had the recent voice to claim nonsense on Aromire's land |

Smh. Awori(represented by the Idejo) never paid royalties. The bini descedants in Lagos did. Shes confusing her clan of people with all Awori. Admittedly bini descendants(which she is) are integrated into the Awori group but they still organised themselves differently. Awori land starts from Ado-odo in Ogun state till Lagos town(Lagos island) The Ado-odo group is one, Ota group(or what remains of the Awori in Ota) is one, Iseri and Ikeja areas are another, the mainland and island Awori are another then the assimilated bini descendants in the island are another. Let's stop using sentiments to discuss history in this country |

pedrilo: SW should go and die! They caused our defeat in the last general elections with this same attitude of poor preparation and strategic planning. The party has little or nothing to gain from SW in 2019 because they have Osinbajo in APC. And again, I want to really speak about Atiku and the corruption tag placed on his neck by OBJ since their time togeda @ the presidency. I watched Sambo and GEJ yesterday and I felt Nigeria did not deserve to lose this two fine gentlemen. The love and respect between GEJ and Sambo is so enviable even till date! At the convention yesterday, Sambo declined to be called out alone to give his speech, he informed the organizers that the presidency is one and that GEJ shud speak. And when GEJ was called out to speak on behalf of the presidency, he said Sambo shud speak first, I saw love and respect between them. But we cannot make such comment about OBJ and Atiku. OBJ fell out with Atiku majorly because of OBJ's selfish third term agenda. And in their usual faction, they always demonize and destroy anyone who don't agree with them. They don't know how to play strategic politics. Atiku shud get ready, SS/SE votes with enough northern votes is all we need to take care of buhari and osinbajo come 2019. I am going to support Atiku henceforth, after watching GEJ and Sambo yesterday, I bliv OBJ is the devils' incarnate not Atiku. why isn't Sambo running? |

MayorofLagos: Why do you ask? cause if you study even the basics of those courses you would know already that your "theory" cannot hold because its already established fact that Oranmiyan is a prince from Ife. Orion, Aramean theory is as good as dead on arrival If you knew the basics of such disciplines you would know that one name doesn't have to correlate with another name in another language just because they sound alike. That's what should be called a fools truth Some words from two different languages can infact be related but sound different e.g.. igbo - Ego, Yoruba - owo. Igbo - ugbo, Yoruba- oko These are actual cognates that formed from a single language which the ancestors of the Yoruba and Igbo spoke It is this sort of confused historical theories that make Edos want to bank on the gross ignorance of Yorubas on her history. They know many don't know what is history and what is fiction Stop doing the Yoruba a disservice by all this middle East, European connection that do not make any sense |

AfriRenaissance: Correct, the pronunciation is the same. Mdw Ntr (Medu Neter, colloquially referred to as Hieroglyphic language) doesn't use vowels.
Whoever the thread creator is, is reaching. A very far Abrahamic-ass-licking-embarrassing reach. Shame he didn't mention the equivalent of "Ta-Merry" in Yoruba. The native Ancient Egyptians didn't refer to their land as Misraim fam. So if the Yoruba word for KMT is any variation of Misraim, it's clear that they are not or were not part of the indigenous population that formed the nation.
I have heard that some Yoruba claim they are descendants of Ancient Egyptians fleeing the Nile Valley due to invasions though. This is possible. Migrating south and westwards seems extremely probable given the evidence. No Yoruba people are descended from Egypt. If anything ancient Egyptians descended from us |

MayorofLagos: Although Yoruba say it is Ibinu (the annoyance of Oranminyan on account of encounters in Edo).
Here is my honest theory - That Bini and Omo N'Oba are connected and cojoined terms and mean "child of" or a "reproduction of".
In Yoruba there are two identifiers for a child; each carries a spiritual equivalency reference. Omo is that which is seeded by the father. Ibi or Bibi is that which is birthed by the mother.
The seed of the new dynasty is Omo N'Oba, but creation of the new State is Ibini (Bini).
The story of Oranmiyan himself has not completely been told. Next to Oduduwa, Oranminyan is the next greatest Yoruba in antiquity. He sat on three Thrones - Oyo, Bini, Ife.
In my own theory I believe Oranmiyan is same as Aramean and Orion. This is for discussion in future. well well Are you a student of history, ethnology, Anthropology or any related courses? |

The Yorubas shares no cultural affinity with the igalas. Tribe like Idomas has 99.9% cultural practice with the Igala, The Igbo of Nsuka an its environs has over 75% cultural affinity with us too.
