Where are those folks who told me that it was Buhari that was backing NOI? And I told them that Nigeria cannot play this game? I specifically said it was the EU and the US will be backing the Asian lady? This is international geopolitics, not Nigeria's forte.
Oksman: Laolu liked his comment not on official capacity! He may have impressed him to have done that, moreover Reno is a private citizen and did what we all know he is good at.
As a government official, he shouldn’t have. It is that simple.
CilicMarin: More 48hours After The So Called LekkiMassacre..
We are yet to see anybody , relation , father or mother come forward to claim his/her was killed at the Lekki Toll...
We were really played...
But, My Prayer is that God Would Punish Every hand that knowingly tweeted and retweeted Falsehood and Fake news that led to the destruction of Yoruba land...
May God visit everybody who is trying to gaslight, falsify, twist the story of Lekki Massacre and spread disinformation with incurable blindness. Amen.
First of all my deepest condolences on your comrades who died. May their souls rest in peace. May God give you, the surviors, the physical and mental healing you deserve. Stay strong.
To the crux of the matter: When I saw Nigerians will flags and sitting on the ground, I told my friend on the phone- "these guys are naive and idealistic. They do not know what they are dealing with". You see, DJ Switch, the country you love and cherish, is beyond the romantic coocon Lagos and its cosmopolitan lifestyle shows you. It is a country which survives on the blood of its citizens. Asaba Massacre, if you guys had read history, really happened. Young Nigerians danced and shouted, "One Nigeria" while visiting soldiers led by Col Murtala Mohammed, Ibrahim Haruna and Ibrahim Taiwo open fire and shot at them. More than 1,000 dancing male Nigerians were killed. They seperated the males from the females and shot the males. The females, they raped. There are books, papers and videos about the event.
This is easy researchable history. Young Nigerians, read! Once a regime has designated your actions, illogical as it is, "surbversive", they will shoot. Especially, as the country is being led by a Major General. Forget the democracy nonsense. Forget the Nigerian flag. Forget the anthem. They will shoot. The protesters, peaceful as they were, possessed something that made them targets. They had UNITY of purpose a unity that saw young people across the country come together, defying attempts to divide their ranks. That UNITY threatened them.
They will come for you. My advise is to go underground and find a way to get to the Embassy of a Foriegn Power, preferably the United States of America. Dont go to the British Embassy. Never go there. Seek for asylum at the US Embassy. And run, far, far away. If not because your profession requires some publicity, I would say you should change your identity. When you have a President who's a Democrat and not a Military Man, please protest. Before then, never try it. Asaba Massarce, Nkpor Massacre, Odi, Zaki Biam, Shittes, and now Lekki Massacre. All when Nigeria is/was led by military men.
Get well soon and please stay underground. While you are underground, read about Nigeria's history.
slimanyd: Correct and brave lady. I for like marry her sef. She be super woman. Nah her likes expose the massacre if not there paid agents would have a filled day here on Nairaland.
They will still come. There will be an onslaught of propaganda by the regime. DJ Switch should go and hide. Run.
Stalwert: Good day, My name is Obi-Enadhuze Daniel younger brother of the now deceased Okechukwu Obi-Enadhuze @O_Okee . I, my brother and mother lived at makinde police barracks, mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos State. Today at about 11 o'clock in the morning... .
... the police station at makinde was attacked by thugs who wanted to destroy the station, I my mom and brother were holed up in our house, The attack went on for hours before the thugs eventually breached the police and proceeded to set the station on fire, after accomplishing..
...this they set their sights to the barracks and began the assault, they proceeded to destroy every car in the barracks, my mom's 2 cars where destroyed and set on fire and then they infiltrated our house by breaking the door...
... they then proceeded to ransack the house and carted away with everything we own, my brother on trying to get them to take everything but spare us was pushed to my mom's room and stabbed on the neck, the attacker then proceeded to attack me but missed my neck... . ...but got my chin instead, after this my mom and I carried my brothers body to the entrance of the station soliciting for help from the thugs still ravaging the barracks, we were finally able to put him in a wheelbarrow and took him to a hospital where he was...
... rejected because "he was already dead" unfazed we moved him to another hospital where he met the same treatment this was where he bled his last drops of blood and died, his body has now been moved to a morgue...
...we have lost every single thing we own, as our house was completely ransacked and set on fire the only thing left is my brothers phone and at about 8 o'clock this evening the barracks was still on fire but Okechukwu has paid with the ultimate price...
...I and my mother are homeless with nothing now but we're safe for now, we thank everyone that has been able to reach out to us, and were able to share consoling words with us in these trying times, God bless you...
While we were holed up in the house the three of us said these words together and we say it again " THREE OF US ARE HERE, THREE OF US ARE TOGETHER, THREE OF US ARE SAFE"...
Let it be known that my brother @O_Okee was NOT killed by a police bullet but died a hero protecting my mother and I.
If you see this please retweet, let the world know how Okechukwu died. He was NOT killed by a police bullet but thugs in his home!
The UK government on Wednesday October 21, deliberated on the killing of some #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate by soldiers.
British Labour and Co-operative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Cardiff South and Penarth since 2012, Stephen Doughty member raised the issue at the parliament today.
He disclosed that he is horrified with the report he is receiving and further stated that the UK Government must urgently rise at the highest levels with Nigeria.
There is no way this would have happened without the British being pre-informed.
They have not officially released a statement because they are waiting for the Nigerian Regime to tell them that they are done with the "mop up exercise".
Built2last: #WorthReading Whistle~Blowers in Police Force Speak Out on #EndSars
Kayode Ogundamisi: So a Compatriot who is serving in the Nigerian Police got in touch with me. The officer requested that the publication of the following, this was after a 30 minutes plus conversation.
For safety I will keep the name of the Police Officer out. Hoping Nigerian President and the Police can take note and verify independently.
1. The extortion of members of the public including #SARS is not with the Police personnel on the road, it is institutional.
2. He claims Police Commissioner's embezzles security vote meant for the upkeep of operational officers. Police divisions are meant to get welfare funds but it never trickles down to low ranking officers who now buy their own uniform, fuel car from funds extorted from public
3. Every Police operational team on checkpoints, raids makes a targeted KPI weekly monetary return to their commanders, DPO's and HOD's who in turn makes return to the CP of the State or the CP in-charge of the unit. These CP's makes return to IGP. The PMF is not exempted.
4. The posting of Squadron Commanders is not by merit. They all make returns monthly by deducting money meant for their boys on special duties (Security covers for Celebrities, rich individuals, escorting night bus for transport companies, securing social party, banks and others).
5. He Advised the Nigerian government to immidiatly ban Police officers from operational "stop any arrest" based on expiration of driving or vehicle license as it is a money making scheme. The VIO or FRSC should focus on this and transfer cases to Police if need be.
6. Police is highly commercialised from top to bottom, funds budgeted do not go to the rank and file, police equipment are meant to be repaired but long abandoned and they get votes every year, officers simply look for funds outside of the force to survive and live.
7. "I have a Phd and head a Police Tactical unit, myself and my unit work with pains and bitterness because they work under pressure to give returns to those above and nothing for them. I can not stop the boys so I lecture part time to make up for my upkeep. The rot is huge"
8. "They should probe training funds, they should ask why Police officers have to bribe to go on study leave. If you do not have a godfather you can not go on essential trainings, when you go, you pay back part of your allowance to the admin team in the office"
9. Nigerian Police get international supports for training officers, when the slot comes, you never hear anything, all international courses are shielded in secrecy and you only see privileged people go, office based staff are sent for tactical command weapons training abroad.
10 The problem of Nigerian Police is not just about fund, it is about accountability, a wholistic probe into the existing funds and then reform.
An average constable drives an expensive car when a DSP who chose to be honest walks on foot, the moral is low within the service.
11. High Returning Divisions: There is a division in Abia State called Ndiegoro Divisional Police Station and Eziama Divisional Police Station. Personnel of these stations just like SARS situated at Aba North LGA goes around on mini buses (Suzuki Every) with POS machines.
12. Every young guy on dread or rugged Jean is a fraudster or suspected kidnapper. A certain Bishop and a Police man called Malaysia in Eziama division takes people on gunpoint to ATM and push them out of vehicles late night. These bad officers can be located by Nigerian Police Force.
13. Anyone entering Aba late night is at risk. These men have been reported on many occasions but only asked to refund the money and nothing happens. The reason they are invincible is becouse senior Police officers get returns. To stop the rot, start from the head.
14. Ohuru-Isimiri Division in OBINGWA LGA is a nightmare to tricycle and motorcycles riders. You can visit to ask members of the public about all these stations in Aba. What happens in Aba is replicated across the other Police divisions across the country.
15. The public are also part of the problem of Police officers when officers do gallant jobs, we are seeing as just doing our job, even when we lose officers. Nigerians have made up their mind that we are all corrupt so even those who want to be honest ask why should they bother.
16. The public must fight for Police officers, do you know we rations ammunitions and guns, the weapons we use against robbers with automatic weapons are outdates, when did anyone offer to visit a Police Station or barrack to see how we live.
17. If #EndsSARS or #EndPoliceBrutality is to be successful, the reform must include speaking with officers who do the dirty work, right now everyone is having a conversation about us but no one is talking to us. Police are Nigerians too, we have to build trust with ourselves.
18. Those talking about Police officers on the streets should check how much a sergeant is paid, not to talk of a constable, you can not pay an officer 59 Thousand Naira a month, he buys uniform from it, transport and feed family and you expect the best from him.
19. The number of Police officers is very small, even if you reform, the number we have can not deliver the kind of magic Nigerians want the police to give. The people should not be anti police but separate the bad from the good.
20. I am telling you that the Police officers adopted by some States who pay them extra are doing very well, crime is low and they are dedicated. Nigeria should withdraw police on 'special duties' with VIP and those with money and influence.
21. The Abayi divisional Police officer recently assaulted a lady sexually and detained her for stealing his money. Let the CP investigate him. Let all SARS personnel be sent back to Police Colleges and Training Schools.
PART 2 of Thread!
As Young Nigerians continue to lead #EndSars #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria yesterday, a Police Officer opened up about his experience. I have since had conversations with 3 other officers.*Statements not independently verified. Key points here.
I will call this particular Police Whistle-blower Officer A. He's based in one of the South West State, ranked as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). "This ( #EndSARS ) protest is the best thing that has happened to the force, tell them to take inventory of custody files" "We write the name of suspect on ledger, if your DPO is corrupt, you will have 2 custody ledger, one is for official, the other one is for suspect that will roga *bribe and then they will be released, so it is like they never came to station"
"Tell them to Probe STS and IRT under Police Force Headquarters, if they are serious, let EFCC check bank accounts of officers from IG, AIG, CP, DIG to even sergeant, any policeman with balance of N5Million is a thief, they can start now."
"People should visit Police College Ikeja, or go to any training school in Nigeria, no way you can produce good officers from those places. I hear the IG praising the tactical college Ila Orogun on the way to Oke ile, is he joking? The place is a disgrace"
"You put Police with their family in poultry and call it barracks, even to get 1 room in Police barracks you have to bribe, if you rent in town, you will hide yourself from criminals and your neighbours see you as one of the bad police, the problem is big"
"Let me tell you, when I joined police, we have fuel dumps, where Police operational vehicles will collect fuel daily and it is full up tank, when you come back from patrol, you record mileage and refill, now no fuel dump, you have to look for money yourself"
"When I joined police, we had tailoring department, we had mechanics, they sow the uniform, they repair Police vehicles, now everything is to contractors, they should probe why Police can not keep subsidiary services, is it not civilians that take Police contract?"
"I have safer highway personnel attached to me they need over 80K periodically, service tyre themselves, change engine oil, service van, where do you think they will get the money from when the official money is not coming in?
"Regular Police officer, your course mate posted to EFCC or as ADC or orderly to Politician or to Celebrity will buy land and build house in front of you, so everybody is lobbying to leave fighting crime, if they are serious, send everybody back to beat"
"Armed robbers and criminals are afraid of #SARS, wait till November and December if we don't have something to replace them criminals will strike, Police can not do without a strong tactical team but SARS has turned on innocent people, that is the problem" Even in Police, other officers fear #SARS. They have become a cult within Police, a lot of officers are celebrating but we know we need a tactical team. Government can probe the officers, sack the bad one create a new discipline outfit" "If they round up all the SARS officers, look at their bank account, interrogate them on what they have done, what they know about killings, separate them from the command, some will confess." "Do you know civilians with money approach Police to exchange family members who have committed crime with innocent people? The person making the proposal and the Police are all guilty, that is why I am now happy the young people are fighting for us" #EndSARS
Madibahisback: United as how ? Manchester or Newcastle ?
They helped her doesn't mean we are United Unity is the real problem in this country We ain't United bro Even here in nairaland Ive seen many tribalistic entity
Nairaland is just bants, a vent place. Dont take it serious here. Else depression will hit you.
Loandbehold: It's really disappointing to see how the protesters in Abuja treated Sowore. This guy has literally been fighting the government of Nigeria and has tried his best to stir the people to take matters into their hands and protest. He was even locked up for the cause.
He joined politics to try to fight them but yet some Nigerians are against him. They tagged him "just like every other politician". He's not like others. He went in there to fight them. Let's not lose sight of that. He might have made some errors just like everyone of us. But time and time again, he always stood by the people. He never turned on the people but now that he and several others have succeeded in waking the sleeping giant, the people are trying to turn against him.
In as much as you might have something against him, at least, show the man some respect. He has done enough to warrant it and he shouldn't be treated like that.
Sowore, "forgive them for they know not what they do," and don't loose faith in the people. We need you in this fight wether we like it or not. Keep up the good work and don't let this little hiccup deter you. There are a lot more people that support you and will continue to support you. Your service is appreciated. #appreciatesowore
They are probably very bitter at his role in entrenching the worst government in Nigeria's history- a role he is yet to publicly apologise or regret about. Let them vent.
Ovo200: Pls who else had noticed that boko haram and bandits has really suspend their attacks, we haven't hear any news about any attacks since the beginning of the #endsars protest. Are the service chiefs afraid of northerners starting their version of #sacktheservicechiefs protest or what? Let think about it Many thoughts on my mind but can't put them into words now.
I noticed that they "suspended their attacks" since Trump warned Buhari about the killings of Christians.
Joshmodest: This is what I'm saying we do not need to beg cardi b to tweet for us , when we go out and move really maddd on them the world would join our cause !!!! I doubt Ozil has ever been to Nigeria in his life I don't think he's a Christian or Muslim , he's not black , he's not the reason for our problems , he has no industry in Nigeria , he stands to gain nothing from Nigeria , yet he's speaking out cos humanity is all that matters to him !!! Those foolish people who say it is not their daddy GO's problem and so they do not need to speak, even though yahoo boys that they say are hijacking the protest pay crazy tithes to them and they collect without asking the source ......SHAME ON ALL OF YOU !
He is a firm, practicising Muslim. Dont erase his religion.
maak400: Igbos hate Yoruba more, some of them were against Adeshina during his election. You do see how they spew hatred towards Yoruba on this forum, so stop being hypocritical.
Oga stop lying behind the anonymity that Nairaland provides.
Adeshina was defended on BBC Igbo by Igbos. I was one of those who wrote an article in the news media defending him and arrogating his attacks to Euro-US imperalism. I have consistently defended him on Nairaland was even insulted by Yorubas who claimed I was doing so because of GEJ.
Carry your hate elsewhere. The Igbo man has no time to hate on anyone.
One4me: But the major world power, the USA, was so bitterly against his re-election, that America wrote a trumped-up allegation against him. I think his performance was so exceedingly excellent that other members just decide to ignore the bad-belle allegation of the US, even at the risk to their Aid from the USA.
You just answered yourself, Sir. USA was against his re-election and was not the major world power that supported him. Another power did. Sorry, but with these positions, you need more than competence and qualifications. I thought this knowledge is basic.
seguno2: What played for Adesina in ADB was local geopolitics? How old are you?
Adesina was also international geopolitics too sir. You dont get into certain positions without a major world power backing you. Its as simple as that.
I love the North. When it comes to proscribing IPOB, Buhari suddenly has the "powers". But restructuring so that they can get their region and fully islamise it, "he does not have the powers"
Babtech001: Igbere TV reports that Lauretta Onochie social media aide of President Muhammadu Buhari has described the outburst of pop singer Wizkid on Sunday at the president as “crass ignorance, insensitivity and childishness”.
Wizkid had in the heat of the outrage on Twitter against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) told Buhari to concentrate on ending indiscriminate killings by SARS.
oshozondii: It is now no news that the #EndSARS protest called for by controversial artiste, nairamarleu has been shelved with the "Am I a YahooBoy" crooner announcing the police Authorities have one week to show changes.
However, while NairaMarley has called for a Reformation of the SARS outfit, Runtown has called for its outright ban.
Anything from the North must be seen from the lenses of politics. Because that is what they care about. He might be publicly apologising to GEJ because he needs GEJ's favour for something.
A mentally ill person never confesses that, "they have been mentally ill for a long time". Madam stop with the lies. Women from the North can get really jealous, as expected from a woman. But this is strange as they know that Islam allows up to 4 wives for their husbands.
