anonimi:Huh?! Do you have any sense at all? Did the federal government openly state that it was a swap? The media got ahead divulging conjured up stories tinged with little facts, we all believed it. Now the government comes out with a clearer picture and you want them vilified for it? Technically, making a swap and being a hub don't mean the same thing, but in practice, their benefits are the same, with the latter being even more advantageous. That way, China plays even greater part in ensuring that there's enough Yuan to meet forex demands. What has that to do with integrity or any sort? |
princemillla:It's not the present that they are worried about, it's the future. They recognise that the most populous black nation is pulling the plugs on them from this end and preparing for life after. Everyone wants the numbers. The options give us a little sense of control now, assuming that we use them to our advantage. |
These people are crazy in a funny type of way! They just seem to lack common sense and the ability to think outside the box! So they sympathize with Saraki's predicament but don't empathize with the very people that they represent? Such an irony! They seem to lack the history and experience necessary to understand the issues at hand. What's worse is, most of them have been there and lower, yet don't even understand what the people really need. They could make a difference, yet have chosen to stand by a crook. I hope when the time is right, that they have the strength to pull themselves out of this hole they are digging into. Cos when shiiit hits the fan... |
And it's almost May. This might be the year that Nigerians say, we did it on our own with no motherf*cking help from the govt. Yet, you know what's even worse? Supporting the saboteurs responsible for your affliction so you could spite the government, pay them back in their own coin and get even! |
Nokia really had it going for them, until apple came along. For them, Steve Jobs and Jonathan Ive might just be the much talked about antichrist(s)! Disruptive innovation at it's finest! |
Yet, there's nothing on ground that commensurate with the said amount. |
How I've missed having those. |
The senate house has become a gathering place for thieves! Saraki and his cohort just seem unfazed by the notoriety that they've gained in such a short while in the senate. So in their warped minds, they've devised a means to counter the CCT while stalling the process. Talk about grown men with brain the size of a kid's! These guys are so disastrous they could see to more destruction than a 7.8 magnitude earthquake can muster! |
![]() I just dey laugh. They have come again... |
Well said, prof! He took lunacy too far when he wrote that letter. If there's any iota of sense left in his followers, that derenged fellow should see his ranks plummet by now. How could a grown man like that, a father, husband, uncle and "role model" not care how such dastardly act impacts on the people he cares about? 'Cause, whether you approve of his behaviour or not, that shallow act robs off on us all. It's one tough dent! Beast! |
Kudos to the NA. Thanks for restoring our faith! Our support remains unflinching! |

Could be the OP just wanted us to know she's been to shoprite this one time. ![]() |
modath: These guys are bad market, their code, evil. Saraki is one mistake that should have been 'blocked' at the first sign of trouble. Now he's leading a gang of bandits. They are just so out of touch with the interests of regular people. Never before have we had it this bad. |

![]() Shameless people! Elders dabble in affairs only when invited/necessary. The very problem of the North. They lack reasoning capabilities! |
modath:Don't mind the detractors. They just won't stand the sight of anyone threatening their hegemony. Instead of working harder to earn the stay atop, they rather others don't grow at all, just so they can keep a firm grip. |
Nature129:I've not been to FUTO before, not even once. In school, regurgitating stuffs in exams is enough to pass. You need not be an orator. In the same vein, I've seen countless Igbo graduates who can't speak or write as well. Heck, I met a doctor at Unizik who doesn't even know what cash crop means! |
Robertbh:Thanks for corroborating. People need to know the truth of things. |
![]() |
They've been made to believe that they can get away with anything. People saying Hausa/Fulani don't even realise that even the Hausas are subjects to them. They are not on equal footing at all. |
This senate has taken commonsense to the cleaners! Guys have redefined ineptitude! Here, Nigerians--behold, your real enemies! Wonder who they are beholdening to and what sort of leverage such party has over so many people all at once. Must be a cult of some sort! Thought we elected leaders, never knew they are puppets grovelling at some puppeteer(s). Them for don cast somewhere. |
Thanks for the invite, madam mo. ![]() Easy as a dog gnawing bones, Feyi Fawehinmi just put this hotly debated topic to bed like it's a cakewalk. Such an insightful analysis, put so succinctly that even market women could understand. What a brilliant mind! So literally, the UK is early to the party but doesn't want us at the party at all, couldn't even tolerate our lateness. It seems to me like the "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" saying does not appeal to them now, only this time, the gander taketh it by force. So basically, they are angry that we are reaching heights they could never have imagined. If being a dullard implies making such giant strides and attaining so much, then I'd much rather be a dullard myself. Na ehn pay pass . Where's Mr president when one needs him, does being a dullard requires being smart? Cos Oga, you are so sharp! All I see is win win win... Oga mynd44, uncle lalasticlala, this should benefit everyone I bet. |
If they deservingly got it, then I consider them heroes. Its hard enough just to eat in such an environment. To experience such hell and not only pull through uncremated, but in flying colours is highly praiseworthy. omogin:"Real Southern standard first class"? What does that even mean?! I'm not in the habit of talking nasty of a people, but that really got to me. Now, I happen to serve in Unizik, Awka. I've been to most higher institutions in the south east and some parts of the SS, I've seen things, quite bad things, but one university stands out, maybe because I happen to be there longer: UNIZIK. In that school, exam malpractice is almost a norm. Writing exams by proxy, even worse. Especially in faculties like management sciences. I was shocked last Tuesday when I went to Unizik business school. On my way back downstairs, hall 13, faculty of mgt of course, I saw students, should be 400L cos its so written boldly door top, writing exams but it was something like I've never seen before (actually, I had. Where? Unizik, again!) students were discussing in exam hall as though it were a market square, invigilator, there present. That same day, the faculty of law recorded many casualties as well. You see final year students with high CGPAs, yet they haven't written more than 4 exams themselves. Irregularities abound. Money can get you almost anything in that school, the women, even less money! Or is it Anambra state uni where sorting is the only way up? Fed poly Oko is much in the same brackets. Abia State uni? Some professors there are not even bachelorly bright! This place has shown me really, that the clichéd adage "an empty barrel makes the loudest noise" holds true. I've seen the same patterns in most schools around. Students with good grades who barely know a thing! How could they when the whole process from the lowest rungs to the zenith are rigged and fraudulent. Like I said, money gets you anything here, just not much quality! Up North, at least in most unis I've been to, and especially the one I graduated from, little as a writing on your palm could get you expelled; only pray you don't get caught! What again did you say the southern standard is? PS: this is not an attack on Anambra/se institutions, far from it, I'm just driving home a point, only that I'm using facts, drawing from the things that I've seen. |
Make I siddon look . |
You've made valid points, OP. I believe that Nigeria can build her own model of success. To achieve this, she'll need funds of course, which necessitates borrowing. The country has so much going for her that she doesn't yet seem to realize: A growing youth population (The growth of any country is tied to youth development. As the old get stuck in their old ways of doing things, the well educated youth takes on the responsibility of pulling things up a notch by applying today's thinking in today's world). That's one advantage even Italy and France cannot boast of due to their aging population which has resulted in stagnating the countries, as there aren't much youths to carryout this task. Kids with great ability to develop incredible technology, although they'll be needing polishing of some sort. Vast expanse of land. Mechanised agricultural practices improve GDP a lot faster than most other avenues. High poverty rate. This would translate in low cost of production. That said, Nigeria needs to channel such funds into: Education. Infrastructure. Technology. Humanity. Brain power is what makes a country like Israel, with no oil or natural resources great. How much more we that have the rarest luck of having the both. Only we need to tune one up a bit. |
Yet, young enough to steal? |
Nigeria would sit right on top... Were it not for ineptitude displayed in the past! The NA is such fire! |
The courtyard is such a beauty, even by modern standards! |
Gentle2015:...so you're being mischievous! |
All these people in one country, really? You only need to read the comments on this thread to know just why we have stagnated as a nation. The youths are an accessory to holding this country at bay! Who do the politicians use to kill other youths? The youth! Who do the politicians use to terminate well meaning opposition figures who could have changed things? The youths? Who would rather be handed everything else than work? Most youths! I can go on and on and yet not emphasise this enough. But to reiterate my position on this subject; It is important to note that for the good of people and for sake of posterity, Nigeria is better off as one country. Reasons Nigeria's problem has always been a systemic one. The youths have had their rights stolen, most never even had any to be honest. You may break Nigeria into 6 different countries, it still won't change your crop of leaders--the real problem. They have become almost like an institution, the embodiment of a corrupt system and an emblem of injustice. They abound in all regions. In functional systems, no one is told to mind their place, but that their place is as high as they can get. It makes people ambitious and gives a sense of responsibility from a young age already. With these people, even if you had your own country, you would only have succeeded in enthroning regional subjugators. The only difference will be country's name, logo and motto. Now, before you accuse me, first look to your Local Government Chairman who has never lived outside of your region before, how different is he from the rest? Sh*t has eaten deep into the fabrics of the society at all levels. What we have in Nigeria are dream killers, witches and snitches who would rather that you view education as a privilege than a right because they wouldn't want you competing on equal footing with their kids in the future. For posterity's sake, a small country can only grow so much. Today, south Korea is developed but cannot grow much further because it's a small country, same as Canada. This has caused India and Brazil to be closing in faster on them in terms of even Nominal GDP. We need all these lands for the sake of generations unborn, they'll need it even more. The Game of Numbers. We have a large population with a majority in the youth brackets. This has played in our favour and would continue to do so. Or why else do you think the West pits us against each other at every turn? The wanna beat down that power. So much is wrong with Nigeria, but we could suffer worse should we turn against each other. There's strength in numbers. |
Days back, I saw a post where she talked about twitter being it for her for now and how she missed the days when they engagingly debated issues on nairaland. In that post, she did mention she might soon quit nl, albeit subtly. Now 'children' ti take over. So basically, you lots misbehaving is what made her leave. And you're gonna chase out a lot more people you could learn so much from should you continue to behave uncouthly. |
