Such a monumental loss! Nigeria should go into the records books as having the most notorious populace and the most rigid government ever known to mankind as far as ownership and demolition of properties. People no dey hear, government no dey pardon! |
But maka why?! |
The Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), a coalition of over 400 civil society organizations, weekend, described the recent shady recruitment exercise conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as a grand betrayal of a change mantra of the Buhari’s administration. The Chairman of TMG, Com. Ibrahim Zikirulahi, said in a statement in Abuja that the scam is a clear manifestation that vestiges of the discredited and corrupt old guard still dominated the system in the country. Consequently, the group called on President Muhammadu Buhari to fish out the perpetrators and punish them according to the law of the land, adding that the reasons given by the apex bank to embark on secret recruitment exercise was not acceptable. The statement reads: “TMG is dismayed by recent revelations of outright cronyism and favouritism in a shady recruitment exercise conducted by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It is indeed very strange that impunity of this magnitude would be associated with the nation’s apex bank at a time Nigerians are hoping that the change mantra of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, would translate into better ethical standards for conducting government business. “TMG is not unmindful of the fact that this scandal is a clear manifestation that there remains within the system vestiges of the discredited and corrupt old guard, which would always be against a people centred philosophy of governance. For us, the recruitment scandal points to a culture of lax corporate governance, which has seen the CBN under the leadership of Godwin Emefiele canonize itself as a do-nothing institution in the face of criminal assaults on due process. “The CBN which has elected to sacrifice openness, merit and fairness in its recruitment is the same institution, which silently conspired with looters and plunderers of the nation’s financial resources, during the locust years of the last administration. “TMG is amazed that the current government has not deemed it a matter of utmost urgency to halt the desecration of an institution as vital as the CBN. On the basis of the litany of sleazes that were made possible by the acquiescence of the current CBN leadership alone, it is crystal clear that a clean sweep of leadership at the apex bank, is long overdue. “TMG is unimpressed by the lame excuse the CBN spin doctors are adducing for deciding to embark on a secret recruitment drive. Even if ‘targeted’ employment or head hunting was the basis for making the process secret, there are thousands of young Nigerians who need jobs, who could have been targeted. But because the CBN was working towards a pre-determined outcome, it filled the list with names of children and relatives of prominent politicians, government officials and other influence peddlers. “We insist this is not the proper way to do things; the outcome of the recruitment must therefore be immediately jettisoned. “TMG calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene and put an end to the attempts by well-heeled people in government to rubbish his efforts at rescuing Nigeria from the abyss of corruption, nepotism and favouritism. “There must be equal opportunities for all Nigerians.” https://www.today.ng/news/national/94945/cbn-recruitment-scam-a-grand-betrayal-of-change-mantra-tmg |
MyGeneration:Because you support the very same bombing that you fear so much being carried out on others' properties? You're impossible! That same mentality is the reason for the perennial crisis engulfing the power sector. Ask yourself who the real losers are again? The poor masses who struggle to get by, or the elites who can very easily afford imported fuel at exorbitant prices? |
MyGeneration:Everybody you say? You see, brother, the problem is, you've already formed an opinion of them and there's little one can do to change that fact. You seem ignorant to with. Ask your people who've lived with them, if they'll give an unbiased assessment of them, they'd tell you more than this post will allow me inform you. It pays venturing out of your comfort zone sometimes. |
MyGeneration:Your stomach capacity must be 50,000 litres. Phew! You spew more hate than a brewery brews beer. |
wilsondave:So a lack of money results in inflation? How smart! |
Nothing will come of it. The lawmakers are even more corrupt than corruption! These people have long stolen our rights. |
Olamide, one of the most consistent guys in the industry today! Successful, yet so humble. May God continue to enlarge your coast! You shall dine with kings the rest of your life! |

All we are asking! We understand that we cannot vie for CBN jobs with your kith and kins regardless how much qualifications we possess or how deserving of the positions we are....only just lend us a hand, and we'll take it up all the way from there. Thanks! We pray for sustainance! |
Mr president, quick do something! If you leave it two years, my people will be long wiped out the surface of the earth by then. |
wiseoneking:You still don't recognize that it's his prerogative to appoint whoever he wants? Or what makes the Imo guy more deserving of the post? Nna, take time o! |
Hmm |
Misfits everywhere! There's a reason the election was slated for Saturday. Imagine how much you'd lose in two days were this guy running your enterprise. |
Life lesson. Life is turn by turn. When in power, use it well. Thing might turn on it's head and haunt you when abused. |
To these people, it's all a game. What a shame! |
This government will be considered a success should they be able to move power generation up to 10,000 MW at the very least. The problem with our government is, they take up too many projects simultaneously and end up accomplishing none. You can't record much success fighting on many fronts. Focus mainly on key areas. Imagine if obj's regime had tackled just power issues, and gej's, infrastructure. We would have long gone far. The manifesto is a lie! |
103? That's a lie! We should rank first 5 at the very least. Nigerians are happy people. We manage to crack a smile in the face of difficulty. The most stoic nation ever known to mankind! |
seunny4lif:Which city in the world does not have a ghetto? They all do, only some have lesser ghettos. In any city where there's serious wealth, there's going to be a ghetto or two for some known reasons. |
I hope that they can sustain it, not just throw up some pics to score cheap political points only to later abandon the boy when he most needs helping. |
Pwayne2016:Still doesn't take from the fact he appointed an Imo Igbo! Give credit where it's due! |
Lol. Funny but true. I remember the first few posts I saw of hungerbad then convinced me as to his intellect. The guy is no doubt smart. OP, seems to me like you're forgetting certain movers and shakers of naira land, smart and intelligent people. I understand that you cannot have everyone included, but there should be a place for the modath and passingshot(s) of nl, don't you think? At least, a mention? They are just as popular if you asked me, due to their unflinching stances. |
Lesson to those bashing Baba. Nigeria would have been run aground had these same people continued in power. I did feel a sense of misgiving at the prospect of having Buhari at the helm of affairs at some point. I've always had reservations about these old recycled politicians. Heck, if they couldn't change it back then, what could they possibly offer now? "You don't use yesterday's thinking in today's world," I opined. In time, sometime in the heat of the elections, Jonathan's tolerance of corruption, or do I dare state penchant for corruption? Well, whichever one, gave him away. We had not much resources, and in the face of dwindling oil prices, we couldn't possibly afford another four years of wastage and wanton corruption. Besides, regardless how much money the country had in her coffers, a waste is a waste! So I inclined more towards Buhari, considering he was the only opposition who really stood a chance. And I have since not regretted the choice. He has his shortcomings as does every human, but that should not detract from him being astute. Our reserves hovering between 27-28 billion US dollars, the TSA having in excess of 3 trillion naira as at today, checkmating corruption and trying of the corrupt are all testament to how excellently he has performed in this regard! As regards the economy, I'll still give it time. It's hard to feel an impact in an institution without defined structures yet, among other challenges bedeviling the country. At least, we can see that he's trying. |

At least, he possesses the grit! |
Harbioollah:You really believe there aren't any secure places in those states at all? |
Good move. When then will you break your silence and order that the Fulani herders be put in their place, Mr president? It's still lives being lost, you know. |
Is it just me or too much time is being spent digging up past misdeeds? Unraveling and possible recouping of the loot(s) is a good thing. However, government policy should tilt more towards making a headway and providing basic social amenities. Life isn't meant to be traveled backwards! We hear more about discoveries on corruption than we do about government policy and direction. I understand that the budget has yet to be passed, but there's need to create a balance. We shouldn't go all guns blazing on corruption and risk neglecting the real sectors of the economy. That's what affects the common man the most. |
Na today? Working with CBN, NNPC, FIRS, FAAN, Customs, etc is an exclusive of the high and mighty, the movers and shakers in the corridor or power. To them, we're nothing but pawns in the game. Or why else do you think Nigeria hasn't been efficient at anything at all? |
