This saga about Tinubu and his dodgy educational and academic bona fides started in way back 1999, i.e., 24 years ago. Somehow, just somehow someone suddenly crawls out of the woodwork with some more dodgy claims. Where has Durojaiye Ogunsanya been for the past 24 years? Inquiring minds want to know!

I will continue to dish out my one pence nuggets of wisdom on here. There's no saving the naira because Nigeria isn't selling anything to the rest of the world beside crude oil. Crude oil is going out of fashion fast, the price is dodgy, and much of it in Nigeria is stolen anyways. A practical, short-term fix would be to drastically reduce the size of the government and bureaucracy. Who will do this? Godswill Akpabio and his Senate? Or a clearly compromised Tinubu? Can you imagine having almost 50 mostly useless Ministers in a struggling, 36 - state country?

Two things. Nigeians talk about a free market as if they know what it means or how it functions. That's not necessarily the case. This so-called subsidy removal teaches us all this lesson. A free market is an illusion in a perversely corrupt society like Nigeria. Grand corruption on its own is enough to distort any market.

You lot are just insufferable. If "Hausa and Yoruba DO NOT" want to own property in Igboland whose problem is that? During election season you said they cannot own land over there in the sense of being denied even if they would want to. Now it's that they do not want to which means it's their choice and not the denial of opportunities based on some ethnic bullshit. But then you're the typical Nigerian. And those people are right. That a Yoruba man wants to have an estate in Igbo land today does not dilute the fact that Yoruba and Hausa do not want to own property in Igbo land. This one Yoruba man is not enough reason for any honest person to deny the fact that Yoruba and Hausa do not like to own property in Igbo land.

Initial gra gra. We've all watched this movie before. It won't work because the country is irredeemably corrupt. Someone or some people have helped Egbetokun to high office. In Nigeria, you don't dare say No to those who made you.

I originally wanted to ask whether they're kicking off yet another fad - like the Guiness World record distraction of the past few weeks. Then I said let me read some of the commentary first. Please, please, who did this to Nigerians? Why is it so hard for Nigerians to close their ethnic eyes for a moment? How have normal human beings fallen so hard on traps set for them by never-do-well politicians? We may continue to hope until Christ comes a second time that somehow we can build something meaningful out of this train wreck of a country. But on the evidence before our eyes - presented by our very selves and not the politicians, mind you - we are done for. We actually don't deserve any of the good things we want to see happen. Our hearts are too dark for the light of progress. There's no hope, sad to say.
