I have tried not to comment on this thread or any of the rest, except when i asked that the name to be revealed, however, i think i should comment, based on Chief mastro's last comment.

he has apologized to fellow dealers.
The buyer has confirmed that he is willing to give him more time to balance the payment, someone that was able to pay 750K out of 1M and remaining 250K, i am sure he would make the rest of the payment.
We all make mistakes but the only calamity that could come from a mistake is if nothing is learnt from it, and he (German007) has said above that he has learnt few things.

So let us let it go and i am sure that Osama is feeling much better now.

Sometimes, all dealers needs to reach out to one another without hidden agenda, and if we could all do that, would all make things happen and offer the best service to the buyers, cos it is actually about the buyers and not us

The fact that he has stayed around and offered to try and rectify the situation does reflect very positively on him and fair enough that people would support their friends and colleague's, my point is that 1, he hasn't refunded all the money so why is he congratulating himself and 2, this episode reflects negatively on pre ordering.

I really don't understand German007 congratulating himself when he still hasn't finished refunding the money he "borrowed".

Personal circumstances are no excuse to default on a business debt, the long and short of this saga is that he took money from a customer, was unable to deliver the goods and has still failed to refund all the money despite undertaking to do so.

Now the customer "Osama" is staying cool, the moderator "inspired" is doing his best as well, but the simple fact remains that pre-order is a matter of trust and Germany007 has done himself and other dealers on here no favours. Why would I or any other potential buyer trust him with my/our money?

Well someone above gave a pretty good breakdown as to why currently a petrol car is cheaper to run in Nigeria today.

diesel sells for N145! Thats N9860 to till my tank with 68 litres. For Petrol I would spend only N4420. Thats about N5000 difference a week (I fill every week), and about N18000 a month

I've run both petrol & diesel cars and like for like the diesel was saving maybe 25% per quantity, (2.0Tdi VW and 325i BMW so not an exact match, and I miss the silky smooth BMW)  diesel is N150 per litre in Abuja currently so the difference in cost is even greater, it's simply a non starter, especially taking into account that diesel cars are more expensive to buy, and will have a lower resale value in Nigeria.

you are an automobile specialist and you are talking exactly like one, but what do you think will happen when you tell a layman that just bought a nice diesel car which may be expensive, to now go ahead and pour oil he used in frying dodo into his car? also dont forget he probably knows that diesel specialists in nigeria are hard to come buy, im sure he wouldnt want to experiment except the car manual says he can use ororo, lol

I service every three months and my car, a honda accord 2004 model is VERY reliable!  In Lagos its not about the distance travelled, its more about the time spent stationary on traffic with your AC at full blast. Diesel giving more miles per gallon may not be a very useful metric here.

Also, like someone mentioned, that ridiculous tractor sound and those black exhaust fumes itch me! Although I have driven an A8 diesel and I did not know until I asked the owner, ( it was very quiet). but then its an A8, you give me money for A8?

I also agree that there is a lot ob bias with mechanics for petrol cars over diesel,  but one important thing after buying a car in naija is maintenance. If there is no after sales service that is cheap and convenient, bros forget am or else na tarpaulin you go use cover the vehicle after 6 months. After all they were trained on vehicles they are familiar with, abi you wan make mechanic use my new diesel car engine learn work?

So bros, diesel good i know especially if you are driving a 1.6 vauxhall on a £1200pm salary in UK,  but here in naija, follow the trend.

personally I would ban all sales on this main board and have seperate sales sub boards (like most of the forums I frequent), I think this current solution might well work and if it doesn't then there is no reason why things can't revert.

Bottom line this isn't a car sales forum, so i see no reason why car sellers should take priority over everybody else, even as I must confess to directing peope here to look at cars (at least 1 who has brought) and might well buy a car from one of the dealers here myself.

Last year in the US there was a program with government giving a $3500 rebate if you trade in a used car for a new one(to stimulate auto industry and reduce emission). So you get $4500 rebate if you trade a V8 truck for a small 4cyl. Now look at the numbers and how economists were able to push it through.

1) In the end 680,000 car were sold, same number of old cars taken off road.(@$17k total value ~$11.6b)
2) Most of new cars are 4cyl, reducing fuel burnt and emission.
3)I know I paid about $1500 in taxes, calculate that for 680,000 cars(@$1100 total tax ~$750m)
4) Most cars are financed, with ~$3k in interest charged (@$2000 total int ~$1.4b)
All these transactions were done within 2 months based on a bill with the purpose of increasing average fuel economy and stimulating auto sales.The $1b proposed for the bill was gone in a month and subsequent $2b gone in 3 weeks! because it was tailored to the people's needs.
Nobody seems to have any idea of what the government is trying to achieve increase revenue or reduce car prices. Fact is Nigerians can't maintain newer cars.

We've all seen the Naija gov run circles on used cars importation its not clear what the purpose of these changes are but nothing changes on the ground.

I see no rational behind the ban in the first place, what we really need is a roadworthyness standard that is properly enforced.

I am sorry for the late response.

Agari Motors enquired about clearing several cars including the FX 45 in question, and i
replied him.
He later contacted me that the vessel has sailed, but later i discovered that the vehicle

was shipped through consolidated shipment, which means Agari Motors is sharing the container

with some other people.I made him realise this and i told me there was no way i could clear

the vehicle, it has to be the clearing agent assigned by the shipper.

When the container was eventually cleared out, i received a call from Agari Motors contact

that i should assist with driving the car to its destination.


The statement made by Agari Motors is true i personally drove the vehicle from Tin Can Island port to somewhere in Surulere.
The FX 45 in question is real.

Personally, this reinforces my belief that Agari is a scammer, why?

Well he claims to be an experienced importer of cars, but doesn't know basic things like how a container is cleared (as a single unit) what a bill of laden is (further back in the thread), etc
Why does he need an "import agent" to drive a car from point A to B? If not to try and create some form of credibility.

Let me be clear here I mentioned way back in the thread that Agari was probably someones boy boy trying to mascarade as the actual agent, this just reinforces that belief.

I am the rightful owner of the Audi TT been advertised Nairaland and have this today read through all the comment raised on the website. To the guy that claimed to know what car is stolen or not Audi database - I bet he need to come for extensive training with me on what to check on cars and I to establish stolen car.

Firstly, he claimed the car was not on Audi database with him, so how did he later find out the car was registered in 2007 and the car is Audi TT (Black)?.

Please Mr 2 Know, the car has not been registered with private number and the car has full Audi service history - with the service book of the service stamped and recorded with the dealer (Original service book was in the car) for confirmation.

I deal with expensive and prestige cars and I dont deal in stolen cars and if the car was stolen, it wouldn't have passed through the port in UK - So please correct your comments as the car registration number and VIN no. matches to the car and has not been altered.

This is the first time am selling through an agent and I have no further link with the advertiser other than for him to sell the car for me to create a relationship for future purposes.

Readers please note and only comment on cars you can afford and interested in, as Nigerian are known for time wasting, silly and unfound comments.
