Christianity Etc › Re: 20 Reasons Why The Law Of Moses Was Abolished by MaxInDHouse(m): 1:34pm On Jul 07, 2025
The simple explanation is that Jehovah's Witnesses (true Christians) aren't under the Old Laws given to the Israelites rather what binds us together now is the law of Christ!
Yet if we read anything in Jesus' statement that's not clearly understood we go back to the laws in order to know the principle behind the law.
For instance God's law says:

“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it sacred.  You are to labor and do all your work for six days, but the seventh day is a sabbath to Jehovah your God. You must not do any work, neither you nor your son nor your daughter nor your slave man nor your slave girl nor your domestic animal nor your foreign resident who is inside your settlements.  For in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and he began to rest on the seventh day. That is why Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it sacred. Exodus 20:8-11

The law said God began resting which we found written in Genesis 2:2 but Jesus said:

“My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.” John 5:17

Someone who is not studious could just conclude that Jesus is a confusionist but what about Jehovah's Witnesses?

Well we go back to God's perfect law to gain insight:

The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring strength. The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced one wise. Psalms 19:7

And what did we find?

God Himself explained the principles behind the Sabbath:

“Six days you are to do your work; but on the seventh day, you are to cease from your labor, in order that your bull and your donkey may rest and the son of your slave girl and the foreign resident may refresh themselves." Exodus 23:12

With the help of God's Holy Spirit we are able to figure out the sacred secret {John 14:26-27; 16:12-13} it's to make the rich men give their labourers time to rest and spend time with their families and for the animals too to rest not that God needs rest or that our staying at home brought Him food! undecided

This is what the scriptures said which all the Jews listening to Jesus knew very well:

“I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ ‭Psalms 82:6 NIV‬

Here God is talking about higher beings and humans in authority who act as Gods {Psalms 82:1} note what God said @ verse 7

"But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler.”

So if there is anyone who lives in the first century (thousands of years after Abraham) claiming he's older than Abraham then such a person must be one of the Gods.

That's how they understood Jesus' utterances to mean! undecided

Come on! You've been arguing over this for more than a week now yet all you've gotten is twisting LETTERS used in God's word instead of presenting a group that is doing something worthwhile so all can see the SPIRIT you're talking about in action!

This is what Paul said:

(God) has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the LETTER but of the SPIRIT; for the LETTER kills, but the SPIRIT gives life. ‭2 Corinthians 3:6 NIV‬

Please present the WORKS of your I AM instead of just arguing on words abeg let us see the SPIRIT in action! James 2:18-26

John 10:33,: "We are not stoning you for any good work," they replied, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

Please tell us how this can be read to mean they're stoning him for saying he was before Abraham! Geez!
Driving me nuts!!!
Angels are Gods according to the scriptures given to Jews because they are immortal beings so if anyone claims to be older than Abraham such a person is saying he is an angel or some sort of immortal: God

Mortal men will arrest Jesus, accuse him, charge him to court, prosecute him, judge him, sentence him to death and execute him along with criminals all to be done on false accusations Jesus said to Yahweh:

"Father, if you want to, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.” Luke 22:42

Yahweh wanted Jesus to keep calm just as He has been doing for thousands of years Jesus made it clear that he doesn't find this idea appealing but whatever Yahweh says is OK by him.

Do you think Jesus would have taken all that nonsense if not due to instructions from Yahweh? smiley

“The outcry against Sodʹom and Go·morʹrah is indeed great, and their sin is very heavy.  I will go down to see whether they are acting according to the outcry that has reached me. And if not, I can get to know it.” Genesis 18:20-21

“Do not harm the boy, and do not do anything at all to him, for now I do know that you are God-fearing because you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.” Genesis 22:12

You can read these in any version of your choice.

Yahweh is the Creator of all things, Jesus is Yahweh's firstborn son so both of them have spent uncountable years together before Yahweh decided to make more creatures. He gave His only begotten Son the privilege to work with Him in the creation of other things.

So by the time other things were created Yahweh made it clear to His Son that this project belongs to him (the Son) and that made this Son so happy that he began to examine all these creatures but among all the only creature that appeals to God's only begotten Son is humans! Proverbs 8:31

But then one of God's spirit sons in heaven decided to pitch his own tent separately as a God on his own {Isaiah 14:12} while still giving him the chance to experience the consequences of His actions for others to learn a lesson this spirit son convinced the first human couple to join him in the rebellion against God and he succeeded! Genesis 3:1-5

From that moment Yahweh (the ever happy God) became saddened and He regretted creating man because majority among humans proved to be like Satan (God's rebellious spirit son) Genesis 6:5-6

The only begotten Son of God couldn't stand anything that will make His father sad so as God's representative he began teaching humans how to stay clean from hurting his father emotionally {Psalms 78:41} that was why he began setting matters straight by destroying whoever stands on the way to redeem obedient mankind back to God.

So all the act you might have read in the Old Testament about Yahweh being vengeful and destructive was carried out by Jesus himself that's why it was difficult for Israelites to believe him when he (Jesus) started telling them the real qualities of his father, God Himself promised the Israelites that whatever rules they got from Moses is just to correct certain things but He will send Jesus like a human to exhibit His own attributes and by that time whoever disobey Jesus will not be forgiven! Deuteronomy 18:18-19 compare to John 3:17-19

So Jesus was the angel of God who was brutally destroying anyone standing on the way to redemption you can check his comment:

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent to her—how often I wanted to gather your children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings! But you did not want it" Matthew 23:37

From the above statement who was the angel of God representing Yahweh by leading the Israelites out of Egypt? Exodus 13:21; 14:19
Who was the angel that destroyed all the firstborn in Egypt? Exodus 12:29
Who was the angel that stood beside Shadrach, Meshak and Abednego in the fiery furnace? Daniel 3:24:25

Well all of you may continue to doubt it but i'm telling you today that it's the same Jesus the angel who always stands for the salvation of faithful people! Daniel 12:1

But when he's given the privilege to walk in the midst of humans as a man sent to display his father's attributes {John 14:9} this spirit son couldn't do what he was doing angrily again now he must display his father's real personality!

I remember the day Pharisees came with hoodlums to arrest Jesus with clubs and weapons this same Jesus got angry and said with his old voice:

“I am Jesus" John 18:6

They all fell to the ground!

WHY?

Because he used his original voice the archangel's voice! 1Thessalonians 4:16

So don't think Jesus is gentle it's what his father told him to do that changed him the real Jesus is a destroyer who is coming to kill all those who oppose the personality he exhibited in the first century! Luke 19:27

I'm not saying God did not choose some for a special duty in this system of things but we should know that there wouldn't have been any individual assignments if our first parents did not sin each human family would have continued with that same destiny as written in Genesis 1:26

So necessity brought about all these new assignments not that God purposed it all in the beginning!

After bribing, killing intimidating cheating, stealing the balot box and maiming voters we should start praying for them
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made concerning all sorts of men, concerning kings and all those who are in high positions, so that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with complete godly devotion and seriousness. This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth. 1Timothy 2:1-4

Paul wasn't saying Christians should pray for politicians rather we are to pray so that they won't see our activities as threat to their rulership and thus make policies that will hinder us from preaching and teaching freely about the Kingdom of God.

What the scriptures teaches is that Jesus who is the Prince of Peace {Isaiah 9:6} is coming with his angels {Matthew 16:27} to destroy all human governments {Daniel 2:44} along with all their supporters {Revelations 19:19} who don't believe in the kingdom of God and His Christ! Luke 19:27

With this message true Christians don't participate in politics because Jesus taught them that Satan began the sole ruler of the earth right from the moment John the baptist and Jesus of Nazareth started calling people to put faith in the kingdom of God! Matthew 3:2; 4:17 compare to John 14:30; 2Corinthians 4:4; 1John 5:19

So supporters of human governments who have received the mark of the beast {Revelations 13:18} will feel offended and start hunting believers in the kingdom of Christ so our heartfelt prayer to God should be to divert the minds of these human governments to their opponents who are seeking way to replace them not we that rely on God's Kingdom!

And for them to make policies that will help keep relative peace in the society where we live in order for us to go about our preaching and teaching assignments that Jesus gave us! Matthew 28:19-20; Act 1:8

ProphEkene:
.
You are right in a context. You talking about mankinds destiny generally. But apart from general destination of man. We all have individual life paths and destiny. If God could tell Jeremiah that he has plans and purpose for him in Jeremiah 29:11 which says "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Mind you God's plans for Jeremiah and that of David was not the same. The destiny of Moses was also not the same as Jeremiah's and definitely not the same as yours. Christ had also another purpose too. So individual destinations in life exist and they vary. we do not only have a collective destiny as humans
Any destiny apart from the collective is as a result of man's fall.
Jeremiah, David, Moses wouldn't have come to mind at all if Adam and Eve did not sin in the beginning in fact mankind won't need Jesus at all on planet earth each person will face the destiny God has for all humans!

AntiChristian:
Where did Jehovah gave Jesus Christianity as a religion in the Bible?
I just hope you don't end up turning this into an exchange of insult.

After giving them laws through Moses Jehovah promised the Israelite :

"I will raise up for them from the midst of their brothers a prophet like you, and I will put my words in his mouth, and he will speak to them all that I command him. Indeed, I will require an account from the man who will not listen to my words that he will speak in my name" Deuteronomy 18:18-19

Later He sent Jeremiah to them:

“Look! The days are coming,” declares Jehovah, “when I will make with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their forefathers on the day I took hold of their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, ‘my covenant that they broke, although I was their true master,’ declares Jehovah.”  “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares Jehovah. “I will put my law within them, and in their heart I will write it. And I will become their God, and they will become my people.” Jeremiah 31:31-33

The New Covenant is Christianity forget about whether it is mentioned or not a New Covenant was promised which differ from what they had before.

AntiChristian:
And is it that Jehovah has multiple syllabi for different nations such that he permitted polygamy before and later forbid it?
When Jesus came the Israelites knew this prophet defers from all the others so they started asking him questions having to do with the old laws they had through Moses. Jesus told them God joined only a pair of opposite sex to make a couple and told them that is the standard in the beginning! Matthew 19:4

Jehovah wants the Israelites to learn some things through experience for instance He warned them against having a human king but allowed them to experience what a human king will do to them! 1Samuel 8:10-18

So Jehovah is not your Allah who claims to destine everything rather Jehovah has permitted Israelites a stiff-necked people to see the consequences of wrong decisions.

Mankind in general have the same destiny as written in God's word:

“Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and the domestic animals and all the earth and every creeping animal that is moving on the earth." Genesis 1:26

From the moment Adam and Eve chose another destiny which negates the very purpose of our existence everything changed so God focused on His original purpose for mankind.

There is no destiny other than the above whatever you read in the Bible as destiny of any human came about due to the break mankind had since our first parents derailed from the main destiny of mankind.

God keeps on working towards the main destiny of mankind so there is nothing as individual destiny apart what God purposed for us all.
