Did the overhaul. Changed valve seals and rings. The engine worked fine for about 3 months then my oil started getting low again so I just bought a new engine. I don't rest now o

Am sure the filter inside must have a burnt mark due to the condition of oil. If it does pls replace the filter

My understanding of this issue is that, a new engine of less displacement was installed. If the car's wiring wasn't tampered with & the engine is a direct fit, i don't see a problem here.

Setback is less engine power which may / maynot translate to better fuel economy.

The chances of the CAN wiring system not being compromised is slim. I would give it 2%

97k still fair if it hasn't been fine tuned. Bb pin is 7BE1C522

This only happens when the engine is cold or in the mornings. I have changed my oil and filter recently.

What is the mileage on this ride ?Toyota type IV is the recommended transmission oil. But having the transmission service history would be beneficial before changing your fluid.note that the filter as well needa to be cleaned up. If it looks burnt. Your fuel is leaking.

Not burning

If your car actually burns that volume on that journey, the carbon build up would have clogged the system.

Trace the leak.

I strongly disagree, the "op" came to my workshop for a scan. The following where the problem of his car for high fuel consumption

1)Thermostat removed

2) Fans connected directly. The noise was so much even when compared to that of a trailer. A trailer would sound better. Over cooling of engine resulting to dumping more fuel in the combustion chamber

3) misfire detected on cylinder 5

4) engine coolant temperature sensor absent. Must have been removed by kazeems

5) intake manifold runner control bank1 stucked close. There is nothing what soever to monitor the amount of intake air. The design of the mazda mpv engine is such that only the map sensor and mass airflow cannot do the monitoring of intake air.

So therefore my conclusion is that all this would make his car consume excess.

Ps: black smoke already coming out of "op" exhaust as a result of all this

pls, gurus in the house, i dropped my car with panel beater this morning to fix a slightly broken bumper. when i got there this evening and turned on the engine i saw a yellow blinking light on dashboard "HOLD " what is really the meaning of the sign. The vehicle is Mazda 626.

When the "Hold" signal appears, the transmission will now be locked in the gear you have selected with the shift lever. It is a system in which the user is able to manually select a gear and implement it to the comfort of the user (much like Steptronic). It is one of the earlier system of a manually shifted electronically controlled automatic. For example, if you turn on the HOLD mode and shift to second gear, the car will start off in second gear and stay thereuntil you move to another gear.

Can you describe a professional scan tool as these guys keep saying they have it but it cant read any code.

There are millions out there. But when you see one you should be able to know. A non professional type looks smaller in size like the size of a fist,A professional scan tool looks bigger in size and complex in using. So all those guys carrying a scan tool do not know what to do huh!!!

Dear Nairaland!!

i have a 2001 honda civic EP2 hatchback,I parked the car at work and on trying to leave the premises, the car refuse to start.

The central lock and key fob is not working. The ignition will roll as if it want to start but will just keep rolling.

The immobilizer signs (the green key on the dashboard ) keeps flashing. The car security is factory fitted and has not been worked on since i bought it in 2013.

the scan shows no code but the key programming guy said immobilizer not normal.

Changed transponder, still no gree start ooo.

The rewire is now saying its brainbox

Please gurus, i really need professional advice

Answer these few questions

1) with the key in the ignition turned to the on position Does the key light still flashes?

2) Whith the key taken out of the ignition does the light flash?

3) with the key out of the ignition and all doors closed does the immobiliser light flash?

4) Have you tried running a scan on the immobiliser control unit?

As for number 4 if a hand held scan tool was used. It is impossible to read fault errors from the immobiliser control unit. So therefore, a professional scan tool needs to be used

Cleaned throttle body and IAC no change
yesterday got a CEL P1294

I think I know what the problem has been for a long time but with a bad brake now had to spend ~N27k for a remanufactured part.

I could have gotten a used one from the junk yard but didn't have the time and it is a safety issue

will be installing it now

What do you think is wrong based on the little information I have given

Target idle speed not reached . Is your car a DBW or a DBC? ( drive by wire or drive by cable)

It's a honda accord(baby boy). I noticed some 2days ago that d4 automatic transmission(that I use always) stopped working. The reverse is working well and also the D2 and D1. Did u get what av been saying now?

You need to run a scan on your transmission to see what what fault errors would have caused this. Does the d4 light blinks? A proper diagnosis is needed

Run a scan first. You should get a fault error. Also check your power source (battery voltage) if your battery voltage is low you would experience this. Also your Eps and steering control unit needs to be looked upon. But in the interim checking your battery voltage is a step in the right direction. If you are in lagos and you need a fix. Just be aware thats the last time you are gonna enjoy that ride. A lot of things would be compromised.

Engine power output
CAN bus system altered
Financial spending high comapared to buying same type of engine that originally came with it

No 2 would further lead to many more

High fuel consumption
Bad engine performance
Data mapping of ecu compromised
Finally limp home mode would be the order of the day

Try it and face the music. Even your kazeem that suggested that would run away faster than you can

Is there any optimum proportion as against that recommended by the producer? Because, sometimes, it is from experience rather than recommendation you have the best knowledge of a product.

Also, can it cause any harm to the vehicle if discontinued?

Fuel treatment hazardous to your car. Now when you pour a fuel treatment in your fuel tank. It takes particulate debris/dirt in your tank down to your fuel injector noozles. You wouldn't wana know thr rest of the story

I havent used my car for a couple of weeks now, I serviced it yesterday changing engine and gear oil but after starting , the gear won't enter reverse the reverse light shows on dashboard and reverse lights on the back lights but doesn't reverse. All other gears select well. Its an automatic Honda accord 1997.
Please any explanation?

Ask your mechanic to check your gear selector. An adjustment should probably solve this
