While Nairaland was on emergency break, I was having a great time on the Huffington Post as supporters of Hillary Clinton faced the supporters of Barack Obama over the Oprah Winfrey Road Show for Obama.
They had thousands of people at their rallies in Iowa, South Carolina and New Hempshire, and they were peaceful.
It was exciting.

American politics is not perfect, but very intellectually challenging and exciting.

Nigerians know how to copy American hip-hop culture, TV Reality Shows and even shopping sprees and speaking in Yankee accent, but we do not copy American democracy and governance.

The Nigerian government has not done any Judicial Inquiry into the deaths of the hundreds of Nigerians killed during the violent April Fool elections. And President Umaru Yar'Adua is talking electoral reform?

Over 100 people were killed during the last mayhem in Rivers state and no Judicial Inquiry.
The list is endless.
I personally have learned a great deal about politics and how it is supposed to be by closely following the barack obama campaing, why do we keep on killing, maiming and stalking each other all in the name of serving stealing from the nation? We just can't do anything right we are always on the wrong side, i don tire sef no be small.

I learnt nigeria recently purchased some 2nd generation out of fashion combat aircrafts from china. I wonder what prompted such a bad choice or maybe it was just another way to get money into private pocket. F-7 fighter jet for all I know was commissioned way back in the sixties and has since been decommisioned by the chinese airforce.Do we have leaders that think ? you tell me , why would u purchase aircrafts that have no air superiority in mordern day warfare and no spare parts ? What a toothless acclaimed giant of africa we are. Fola
This is stupidly preposterous, who will service the  fighter jets? where are the spare parts to maintain them? our leadears are so stupid to the extent that they just can't sit and reason like normal human beings. don't they know that they are putting the lives of the pilots at risk? any way the  fighter jets were not purchased to defend our nation or our borders but to fight off the rebels in the niger-delta so in the governments thinking why should they spend so much in buying sophisticated and dependable fighter jets that will be used in squelching the resistance from the rebels.

When a pastor comes out and tells Nigerians that if they work twice as hard as the Chinese, Nigeria will become the greatest country in the world, I will have no problem with that.

Not that some demented psycho will just start spitting random vibes and people will want me to accept that. It's absolute rubbish.
That's why i aforementioned that i disagree with the premise on which this statement was decleared, if the pastor had said Nigerians should work hard, renounce corruption and try to be diligent in all what they do and Nigerian will become the greatest nation on earth than i will have no problem with his declearation, but telling people as he and his cohorts have been doing for so long that they recieved an urgent call from God telling them that Nigeria will become the greatest nation on earth is stupid and meaningless.

we all know what happens after such declarations are made, " will some one shout hallelujah and give a quality offering unto the lord if he really believes what God has told me to tell you this morning about Nigeria becoming the greatest nation on earth"  then you will see the members of the congregation trooping out and donating their hard earned money just because a they have been beguiled by a man that claims to be from God.

Why are people screaming and shouting as if this is something new? seems like most of the nigerians in diaspora on nairaland have really been out of nigeria for a very long time, 70% of lagos looks like this so why are people complianing as if its some sabotage on Nigeria's image? These pictures depict the daily realities of an average Nigerian, what do you expect to see from a country that has over 70 million people living below the poverty line?

Some people on nairaland will tell you that poverty is a spirit that needs to be fought with the blood of jesus rather than pragmatic approach.

This is the same country that budgeted 65 billion for the members of the National assembly for the 2008 fiscal year while claiming that the budget is for the ordinary nigerian on the street, the same country that is trying to churn out 1 billion naira  to purchase new cars for the new ministers and presidentail advisers, this is also the same country that pastor oyedepo decleared will be great in 2011. Nigeria i hail thee, until all the poor masses open their eyes and start holding all their leaders accountable the status quo will remain for ever.

Pastor E.A Adeboye, no matter what you say i know for a fact that he is one of the intercessors of our already great nation, we are only waiting for it to be greater
So pastor adeboya intercedes on nigeria's behalf  grin grin grin How is Nigeria a great nation? what constitutes greatness? are you refering to greatness in terms of size ,population or what? as of now nigeria remains one of the backward nations on earth. Nigeria is not a great nation so stop deluding youself.

[ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE,
MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND THIS IS DUE TO IGNORANCE Coz knowledge as we know is free.
Ignorance is when you take all your television set, writswatch and half of your monthly salary and give to the pastor because he says that you need to sow seeds of prosperity and reap a thousand fold(just the way its happening in most nigerian churches). open your eyes to realities and stop believing in unrealistic hope. The only way you can reap a thousand fold in what you do is by being decipline, ethical and diligent in what ever you do. I say Nigeria will become great only when Nigerians become accountable and make their leaders accountable and work towards it, Nigerians at the moment are not doing that and instead of the pastors reiterating that fact they are instead taking advantage of the poor people by telling them what they want to hear and what sounds pleasent to their ears in exchange for their money. Nigeria will become great only when we become accountable and work towards becoming great not because pastor adeboye said God told him so, we have heard enough of such declaration and things havent changed a bit such declarations only make Nigerians complacent and that's not what we need to hear. I am against such declaration based on the premise on which they are made, i am sure he told the members of his congregation to give quality offering unto the lord for telling him such good news about Nigeria, to which the gullible fools will troop out enmass and give out all the money that is in their pockets just because he made a silly declaration.
Politics › Senate Queries N1bn Budget Proposal For Ministers' Vehicles by mazaje(op): 11:16am On Dec 04, 2007
THE Senator Smart Adeyemi-led Senate Committee on Federal Character and Governmental Affairs yesterday queried the N1 billion budget proposal for the purchase of new vehicles for ministers and special advisers.

The same Committee, also yesterday, turned down the budgetary proposal of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN) following the failure of the Director-General of the agency, Mrs. Modupe Adelaja, to personally defend the proposals.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, had defended the proposal but received the objection of Committee members led by Senator Adeyemi and Committee member Ayogu Eze.

In his defence, Kingibe said the new vehicles were to be pooled, saying the ministers, special advisers and other top government officials would only use them and return them to the pool after each use. He further affirmed that the purchase of the new vehicles did not amount to a reversal of the monetisation policy earlier introduced by the immediate past administration.

For those of who, who cannot see beyond your nose Nigeria will definetely become great. Do not doubt the prophetic sayings of a Man of God.

We can see things happening for ourselves. we are in a a passing phase. Nigerians believe so much in jack robbbinson syndrome. It tskes time to build a nation like ours for the better. And i can tell u it is in progress. we are getting their. Whether u believe it or not those not change a thing.

Facts will begin to opresents itself in the Reality.

Great NIgeria!!
Nigeria will be great if Nigerians stand up and uplift the nation by becoming accountable and making their leaders accountable, Nigeria will NEVER be great because pastor adeboye said God told him so.
Politics › Ehindero, Former Ig, In N950m Arms Contract Scam by mazaje(op): 10:14am On Dec 04, 2007
Mamajama yur paza isss inzbolb in anoza sacandal again ohhh .

FORMER Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, and his former Commissioner of Police in charge of Budget, Mr. John Obaniyi, have been summoned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over their alleged role in a N930 million arms scandal.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that Obaniyi, who is still facing a police disciplinary committee on the N21 million scandal that rocked the force in June, would appear before an ICPC team of investigators tomorrow.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that in June 2006, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, then Bayelsa State governor, released N930 million to the force to purchase arms and ammunitions for the Niger-Delta crisis.

The source revealed that the release of the funds followed a request from the then Inspector General of Police, Ehindero, to the Bayelsa State government that they were short of arms and ammunition to tackle the crime situation in the area.

Police sources disclosed that the Bayelsa State government then released the N930 million through the former Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, now AIG Hafiz Ringim.

However, the police source said instead of purchasing the arms and ammunition, the money was transferred to the erstwhile Commissioner of Police in charge of budget, Obaniyi, who then opened a fixed deposit account with the money for six months and collected an interest of N40 million.

Nigerian Tribune further gathered that the money was eventually moved from the account in December 2006 for the purpose of purchasing the arms and ammunition.

However, eyebrows were raised in the police circles when it was discovered that up till now, no one knows whether the arms have been purchased or not.

Nigeria will be great. When a man of God confirms that I think every reasonable person irrespective of their religious bias should agree with the fact of Nigeria's greatness and not necessarily of how it was said. However if the Pastor says "GOd said" it's not the responsibility of any man to question it. In academics we call that reference. Since a refrence is made to God then it is most primitive and babaric of anyone to start raising eyebrows. Please let's learn to behave well, we need that for national growth
Man of God confirms what? why should'nt we raise an eye brow? i remembered when the late reverand Idahosa publicly decleared that God told him that the late M.K.O Abiola will come out from prison and rule Nigeria, only for the late M.K.O to come out of prison and die. we have heard from this men of God time without number declearing one thing or another of which non is yet to come to pass and they still keep on telling us how great nigeria will become without telling us how to make it better, little wonder why Nigeria still remains the same as it has always been. I remembered in 2001 or so when pastor oyedepo decleard that God told him that Nigeria will be become a great nation after 10 years, 6 years after his declearation Nigeria is still one of the poorest country in the world, 6 years after his decleartion Nigeria is still one of the country with the highest childhood mortality rate in the world, Nigerian still remains  a country with one of the lowest life expectacy in the world, Nigeria still remains one of the most insecured and precarious country to live in after his declaration so you tell me what is primitive and babaric in raising an eye brow when some theives called men of God keep lying and defrauding people of their little hard earned money. They tell you how great Nigeria will become using sweet lines and invoking verses in the bible to support their lies only to tell you when its offering time to sow quality seeds of prosperity onto God so that he will lead Nigeria and Nigerians out of the present mess we are in.  What is rather babaric and primitive is those of you that keep listening to their lies and offering all your money to them in the name of offering unto God.Do you have to offer money unto God before he blesses you? ahhhh na wah ohhh

Unfortunately a few second class citizens of other countries (just like I am presently) are carried away by what they are seeing overseas. I was in London last week and Gordon Brown in a TV message to FOL said " we recognise the impact of the black church in Britain, and our government is working in partnership with the church, , some of the pastors I have consulted are seated here , "  "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" - bible. For those of you who think nations are turning against God and prospering in everything you are in the corridor of ignorance and may soon enter the house of insanity
I am not carried away i am stating what is the truth, What are the impacts of the black churches in the Britain if i may ask you? How does the impact of the black church affect the economy of Britain? Most of the people who are at the helm of affairs of the economy of britain don't believe in any god or god's yet they still contol one of the best economies in the world. The average brit doesnt believe in any god or gods but see how they are faring.Tell me is China a bible or god believing nation? how come they are recording an unprecedented growth and economic prosperity? are Finland,Norway,Germany,United Arab Emirate,Qatar,Switzeland,Greece ,Australia,Baharain, and the US bible believing nations? how come they are the most prosperous nations in the world? open you eyes and stop deluding your self. I am in no corridor of ignorance, Germany fell but it is now on its foot, Russia fell but Russia is now standing on its foot Nigeria has never rising despite all the  prophecies of those sweet talking bible clinging criminals.

In fact contributing to condemn Pastors and everyother things of which you have little knowledge about could bring curse on you.
Sow seeds of prosperity or rot in hell is what they always say in Nigerian churches, Poverty is a sin is all who hear them say in most churches, they instill fear into poor people's minds and extort them after instilling fear, If poverty is indeed a sin as most of the pastors prech out there then all nigerian will go to hell, they make people feel worthless because they are poor, they offer unrealistic hope and optimissm. The only thing that can make Nigeria prosper is Nigerians not pastors and what they assert.

Finland, USA or wherever does not have better citizens than Nigeria. In fact these countries encourage some of us who have the brain to come and stay in their land.
Finland and US have far better citizens than nigeria and that shows in the quality of life that is obtainnable in those countries compared to what is obtainable in nigeria. why is Nigeria not encouraging its citizens? keep deluding your self.

The conclusion of the matter is that NIgeria will be great and if you don't ever imagine that when it' s great you may not be alive to witnesss it (not a curse). For those who believe in a new(great ) Nigeria let's all work hard for greatnesss.
Cheers
Please don't work hard for Nigeria's greatness keep on going to church and offering unto God so that he will make Nigeria great for you.  Is'nt that what the pastors out there are preaching come to us and we will pray for you, instead of telling people what they need to do they keep on pandering and lying to people to come to them and be blessed, "  once i pray for you that promotion will come your way in jesus name" is all what you hear in the churches, they will never tell you that diligence and hard work is what will make you earn that promotion they will always make it sound as if its their prayers that will do the magic for you, "once i pray for you you will get that job you have been waiting for" they don't teach people how to be ingenious, come and offer unto the lord and we shall pray for you is all you hear them say.

Nigerians have offered and sowed yet Nigeria still remains one of the poorest, precarious and insecured, dangerous, squalid, most illeterate, country with one of the highest car accident rates in the world, one of the country with the lowest life expectancy in the world, country with one of the highest infant mortality in the world, one of the country with the highest unemployment rate in the world, one of the most corrupt nation on earth and the bad list goes on infact  Nigeria is a county with one of the lowest human development index in the world despite all the pastors prophecies ,lies and the endless offering of the people.

That's the line they stupid thieves always invoke when ever they want or need people's money. See people open your eyes the only thing that can make nigeria and nigerians great is when we take the bull by the horn and make our leaders and our selves accountable for everything that we do, anything that man wants or needs to do must be done by man himself do not be decieved. China has an athiest government yet it is recording an unpresdented economic and social properity, most of these europen countries are athiest yet they have most of what they want and need in life, they have very high disposable income, they live far longer than us and they live in a very very safe environment compared to us the God loving, bible and koran loving muderfuckers, who instead of doing what is right and helping our selves out of the present mess we put our selves in due to our stupidity, selfishness and  greed only prefer to go and give the very little we have to the pastors and imams all in the name of hoping to prosper or reaping a thousand fold. The question we need to ask is this, where the pastors responsible for the current situation we find our selves in? The answer is NO the people responsible are our leaders both past and present so how can the pastors help us out since they were'nt the ones that got us in and don't also have what it takes to really make us better? the key to our collective development lies not in any sweet talking and lying pastor or the bible that he holds in his hand but in us. only we can make the difference just the way other countries that don't believe in any god or gods have made the difference.

"sow a very quality offering unto the lord" is all you hear once its offering time in most churches, "God does not want your dirty 50 naira he does'nt need your dirty 100 naira, God deserves all the best you can give him so i urge you all to sow a very quality offering onto the lord and the seed you sow shall multiply a thousand fold" is all you hear them say in almost all the churches in nigeria and when people start to raise their eye brows because they have offered continiously and nothing has changed in their lives they invoke that shameless line of their's of not touching the lords anionting and doing his prophets no harm. FOOLS.

Nigeria is dying because of religion, stupid criminals that go around lying and defrauding people of what little possesions they have, i remember when pastor chris okotie came out publicly and decleared that he was choosen by God to rule over our dear nation but failed, yet people still believed in that stupid liar and his fables, people still go to his church and give out all their life savings for the service he offers(instilling fear and promising hope). Kai nigerians when are we going to open our eyes? i still maintain that i live in an athiest country and the people have all what they need in life, they don't believe in any god or gods but they live longer, have more disposable income and are far better and honest than the average nigerian that knows nothing but god and religion. we have tried this for years and it has'nt gotten us any where as a people lets learn to stop believeing in these fraudsters that parade them selves as men of God and end up reaping us of of all our little possesions.

In Nigeria, your mates in the public and private sectors of the economy, particularly the banking and oil industry, have become highly placed. Most earn the equivalent of between 200,000 and 300,000 dollars a year plus other incentives to wit. There was an advert recently placed in one of the papers for a job opening which warned those not earning twenty million Naira and above, per annum, in their present job not to apply. Most have built their own houses in Nigeria. Most have more than two cars in their drive way. Most live in homes that smack of opulence, with every modern gadget ranging from large sized Plasma TVs to Microwaves.

Most have genuinely saved enough to send their children to some of the best educational institutions over seas, including to the Ivy Leagues. Most are share holders in most of the emerging markets that have been liberalized during the eight boom years (and counting) which we that left, have missed. Most of them have savings in liquid cash that run into tens of millions. Most have invested in the now, very lucrative Nigeria stock market. You would marvel when you have a snippet of what amount of shares your mates now hold. You would shiver in self pity.
This statement is not true the percentage of nigerians that make up to 200,000 and 300,000 dollars constitute less than 2 percent of the total population so i don't know who the writer is trying to delude here or what sign of progess that represents, those working in the oil sector in nigeria have always been earning very good salaries.

About the advert placed in one of the papers for a job opening which warned those not earning twenty million Naira and above, per annum, in their present job not to apply means nothing because those that earn such amount constitute less than 4 percent of the entire labour force in nigeria, the issue of one's mates owning houses in lush areas in abuja and lagos are still lies because as we all know over 75 percent of the houses in the lush areas in abuja are owned by the selfish politicians and the top government functionaries not the average public and private workers. when such properties are owned by the people in the private sectors its usually the CEO/MD's that own them.

And about those that send their children to school abroad including ivy league university i will like to say that that claim too is bogus and does not represent the truth, most of the people that school abroad especially in the ivy leauge schools are the children of the highly placed in the society not the children of the average working class, the avarage worker in nigeria is still poor by the UN standard so i don't know who the writer is trying to impress with his bogus claims. I don't want to sound like a pessimist but when we keep lying to ourselves about issues we are'nt really helping our selves, nigeria is moving forward no doubt but the word 'most' used by the writer is not what he was supposed to use because he made it look as if things have changed a 100 folds and most working people are living in affuluence which is not true. Progress is being made but its is very very slow and i hope we get there some day.
