@hollandis

I really get your point, but you have to know that the system can not  be changed over night, it has to be done gradually and responsibly. A rapid change in that direction(dealing with the tenacious big men) can inhibit progress in a way i believe that yaradua is an honest man and he won't let nigerians down.

People like mamajama are the reason why  nigeria is finding it very difficult to make progress, he claims he is extensively knowledgeable but any time he sits in front of the computer to post a message on this public forum all he does is display his ignorance and bais, any sensible person that wants to see nigeria progress will know that madam speaker is no different from Alams,Obj,Atiku and their likes but because mamajama is a double faced flip flopping maniac he comes here trying to show us that he has erudite knowledge of whats happeing around when the reverse is the case.

Learn to stand for something  mamajama, you can't continue to be a double faced flip flopping maniac and expect any body to take you seriously, when atiku erred you were calling for his head, when Ehendiro erred you went on rampage trying to prove his innocence and declaring that he did nothing wrong. Now that the speaker a yoruba woman has erred you are trying to use grammatical function to prove to us that she is innocent, what a cheap and stupid way to prove a point.

Everytime you post a topic and people try to look at it insightfully all the see is tribalism and bigotry. will you go and get a life because all you do here is keep on  spreading  lies and making absolute no sense?

i believe any body that tries to form an opinion of you will know that you are just am empty shell, because all we know is that you(the empty shells) make the loudest noise. mahaukachi shege

@+osisi

The name of the state is Plateau state and the name of the governor at that time was micheal botmang, by the way i am not in support of the state governments that are taking people out on tourist vacation all in the name of pligrimage, all i am trying to point out is  that the nigerian people are so much in to religion that so many  moslems will prefer to go to hajj than have a tarred road passing through their streets, people are so into religion to the extent that pastors are glaringly stealing from people and yet the people never stop visiting them, people steal from their places of work and take to their churches(pastors),people prefer to give money to their churches than help a hungry man on the street, people prefer to give their money to the churches or moques than to invest in projects that will benefit them collectively as a people.

The issue of religion and faith is very profoundly rooted the average nigerian is so much into religion that he will sacrifice some of his social benefits for religious benefits, You might  be highly amazed  but if you care to find out you will discover that some moslems in lagos state prefer this  gesture by the lagos state government and will trade if for lets say a fully equiped hospital. it might sound ludicrious but thats the truth.

i was in nigerian recently and the way religion controls peoples life is beyond belief, religion comes first in everything people do back there its amusing but thats just the way it is, when you engage in discussion with people they will always let you know that religion is what is paramount in their lives, i fought with a lot of people because i tried to show them that their over zealousness about religion is what is preventing them from progressing, people don't see logic any more as far as a pastor or an imam says something thats how it stands any body that dissents is seen as an out cast that deserves no good in life. i don't want to write too much but every body here knows that religion plays a very very important role in nigeria, people will prefer to steal money and build churches and mosque than build schools, hospitals or develop on the decayed infasturucture. thats whats happening out there and i believe the status quo will remain for a very long time.

If they really went to heaven and came back then they should'nt sell their testimonies to people. their should be an extensive media ad blitz on their experience so that people can see or listen to it and repent. why are they selling it to people? if i had such an experience i believe i should be able to get the backing of some men of God to get an intense media campaing on the way free of charge so that people can watch listen and learn. but this is not the case hence i doubt if its real.

Hajj as i believe is one of the most fundamental ritual in islam, some people will prefer to go to hajj than obtain a university degree (this goes to show you how profoundly rooted this issue of hajj is to some moslems), its a very complicated issue cos it involves religion and faith. The lagos state govenment has done nothing wrong cos to some moslems that is the best thing the government can do for them at the moment.
so if all the people i Nigeria suddenly wake up one day and install stalls along the whole place flouting government planning regulations, it is fair? it is fair for people to break the law, but it is unfair for the government to want people to adhere to the law?

Common y'all hypocrites.
The same government that inact laws are always the first to violate them in nigeria and nothing is always done about it but when the poor man violates the law it becomes and issue and he is been ripped of his little possesions and everything he ever hopes of achieving. I personally am of the view that the nigerian government has no moral obligation to prohibit any of the nigerian citizen unless they them selves stick and abide by the laid down rules of the land.

The speaker of the house of reps is spending millions on house renovation while millions are homeles and are living in abject poverty, where is the sense in that? remember that those people that left their villages and came to abuja did so because they didnt have any other choice, some of them were forced out because they could'nt afford to by fertilizer to enhance better crop yield and the government isnt willing to subsidize the price for them hence they had to come close to those in power in abuja so that they can get from the crumbs that falls off their eating tables, some left because of insecurity and  incessant cummunual clashes here and there because they government can not guarantee their security. some left so that they too can enjoy the basic social services that the people in the urban areas are enjoying since they are unavialable to them in the rural areas, some left because of draught and and other natural catastophe hence they became very vulnerable and had to come close to those in power. If  we had a functioning government the level of poverty in nigeria would'nt have escalated and reached the level it is right now.

I don't want to write too much today but the government should'nt be be totally callous ,they should at least inforce decipline and punishment with some elements of mercy, why should a law enforcement officer carry a poor woman's source of livelyhood (maize  in this case) throw it away and beat her up in the process? will he do same to the speaker of the house of reps or an executive minister if he/she is found guilty of graft in any case? why wounld'nt they just allow the poor woman to pick  up he maize and take it some where else? the system is so bad and rotten to the extent that i see no hope in the near future. May God help us all, we are supposed to be our brothers/sisters keeper.

That's really pathetic, anyway what should you expect from a bunch of illitrates and people that are of no good? people that have absolute no knowledge of whats going on around them. Its either we over haul the entire police force or nigeria remains where it is because the police will not only impede progress but will never allow it to happen if they are left unchecked.

@ poster

what kind of post is this?
The Yoruba families in particular deserve special commendation for bringing up our children to respect our culture of discipline and self-respect and respect for human life.
Yoruba children are the most disciplined in Nigeria and I know this as a bona fide born and bred Nigerian who was brought up among the Ijebus in Obalende in Lagos and spent five years living with another Yoruba family from Esie in Kwara state and I have done missionary work in a Yoruba village in the outskirts of Lagos, therefore what I am saying is the practical truth. I have also worked for my people, the Igbos and for Yorubas. And the Yorubas proved to be honest, transparent and more accommodating. As Jesus Christ said, by their fruits, you shall know them. Yoruba families have done more good to Nigerians and Nigeria than the other tribes in the most populous country in Africa.

I recommend that American children should spend their summer or winter holidays with Yoruba families in Nigeria. My darling Nicole Walter from Munich in Germany spent a year with a Yoruba family and it was my very well bred Yoruba neighbour in his teens, Olimide Akanbi, who led her into my life. And Nikky as we called her testified that, Yorubas love respecting themselves and respecting others and discipline their children to be content with whatever they have and not to be greedy and to respect others. But, when she went to the North to spend another year, she had nightmares among the Hausas.
You are part of the reason why nigeria is still where it is today. Nonsense huh huh huh Can't you just make a simple point without displaying your ignoranance, triabalism and bigotry? mahauka chi dan durun uwa.

This is not only a probelm assigned to the people of the nıger delta but a nigerian problem just as some one has already said, we the nigerian people are seriously misguided and hopelessly blind. This problem permeates all across the nation, there are ordinary people out there who will die for the likes IBB,OBJ,ALMCO,ATIKU,ANDY UBA etc for a plate of food or for no just cause.

I will like to blame it on poverty, illetracy and the tenacious belief in some of our cultures and traditions that are of no good but a set back to us as a people. Its really a pathetic situation. we glorify valliant thieves and murderers yet we kill and maim innocent people on the street that are trying to earn a living. Dey thing don pass my power sef because na serious wahala we dey. We have completely lost our senses due poverty and lack.

This woman is totally inept, i was watching the house proceedings on AIT news some fews days ago when the house reconveyed after their recess and i was totally astonished  shocked shocked shocked. Madam speaker was finding it difficult to read her script, The woman is'nt articulate at all she could'nt even read from the script that was before her, she was just making mistakes besides she sounded like a junior secondary school student that was learning how to read a comprehension passage in an english class. She did'nt look like some one who is capable of exerting authority over the house, the house was in a rowdy session and she was there looking from her chair like an outsider,of all the women we have in the house aren't there better women who are more capable and competent that this lame woman?

I don't know much about the controversies sorrounding the house renovation/rehabilitation, all i know is that the woman is not fit to be the number 4th person in nigeria she is eruditely inept to be the speaker of a country as big as nigeria. the woman needs to give way for some one more capable and erudite, some one who has indept knowlegde and who is intelligent enough to represent nigeria. i was seriously dissapointed in madam speaker when i saw the was she precided over the delibrations of the house on AIT is was very akward and lame. we need some one more intelligent and eloquent with indept knowleged of whats happening around, we need some one who will be respected by the members of the house because of their demeanour and the character he or she exudes not this lame woman. she is not just it all and she is totally unfit to be the speaker of the nigerian house of representative.

in power? How many did we reject?

When these rogues came to power in 1999 how many of them performed to the level

So why should Alam's welcome now open our eyes to the fact that we have problems as a

Every Body believes

Everyone believes
In how they think it ought to be
Everyone believes
And they're not going easily

Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
Like punching under water
You never can hit who you're trying for

Some need the exhibition
And some have to know they tried

It's the chemical weapon
For the war that's raging on inside

Everyone believes
From emptiness to everything
Everyone believes
And no ones going quietly

We're never gonna win the world
We're never gonna stop the war
We're never gonna beat this
If belief is what we're fighting for

What puts a hundred thousand children in the sand
Belief can

What puts the folded flag inside his mother's hand
Belief can

Every society definately gets the type of leaders it deserves, its not the leaders that are our problem in nigeria its US, there is something definately wrong with we nigerians . I have observed nigerians and people of other nationalities and i have concluded that there is something  definately wrong  with most if not all of us(nigerians), when you say that nigerians are under some kind of course or spell some people will start screaming and berating you for making such a statement.

Its only in a place like nigeria that such things can happen. how on earth can a convicted and self confessed criminal be given a hero's welcome, i was shocked when i saw it on AIT. Tens of thousands of people all out to honour a thief? shocked shocked shocked shocked ohhhhh wahala dey ohhhh. All i have to say is that its not just the leaders its we the people that are the problem, poverty is the root of all evil on earth, we are so poor that we will sell our souls for a plate of food.
