PoliticsRe: ACN Advises Abati To Mind His Language by mbhs139(m): 6:53am On Jun 14, 2013
kawkab: Lai Mohammed should recall that in one of his press briefings he made the following statements;

" the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) described the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “big-for-nothing dysfunctional family that practises political cannibalism, hence its spiraling descent into ignominy”. In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary Lai Mohammed, the party proclaimed that anyone calling the PDP a “big family, united in freedom” may be suffering from hallucination.

Lai should remember that no one has the monopoly of the use of vulgar words
Honestly, I'm being forced to use uncivilized language on some people but I'm trying very hard to restrain myself.

What has your post above got to do with the office of the President? We are talking about the office of the President you are talking about how ACN called PDP this and that.

Well, continue... And it is your like that complains that the country is not working. How will it work when you can discern simple facts from a post that is less that 200 words.
PoliticsRe: ACN Advises Abati To Mind His Language by mbhs139(m): 6:49am On Jun 14, 2013
take dat: Abati is illmannered! I can remember him using words like "Collective Children of Anger" on Nigerian youths, and during the Alams pardon saga he claimed those against the pardon were displaying "Sophisticated Ignorance." The president needs to call him to order, in the discharge of his duty, he must not be creating more enemies for his boss! Well, I don't blame him, his boss once said on national tv that he doesn't give a damn!
Was the bolded above against the oppsition party or against the citizens?

This is what we are saying. Well, on a final note, my take is that Dr Reuben Abati as far as i'm concerned is the spoke person of the office of the president of the federal republic of nigeria and should not bring that office into disrepute by insulting the collective sensibility of the citizenry. I leave PDP, ACN and Lai Muhammed out of this.

cunlay007: 80% of people writing on this page ddnt actually digest the content on the column, the office of the presidency is not a call centre that should reply all myopic thought or ill conceived action Abati should do the office of the presidency a good deed by responding only to meaningful argument rather than doing damge control.......God will save this country
Simple!
PoliticsRe: ACN Advises Abati To Mind His Language by mbhs139(m): 6:43am On Jun 14, 2013
princenonny: First of all, u cannot equate the presidency with mtn customer care service. Secondly, should abati 'decently' fold his hands while liar mohammed continues to run his mouth like a mad man. Abati has even helped mohammed by bringing him back to order and restored his mental state to normal once more.
Don't forget that Abati and his principal holds that office in trust for the people of this country.

What we are saying is instead of renegrading the citizenry, why not puncture their argument with facts and figures? Didn't you read the part where the post said there are ways you can tell a man to go to hell and he'll be looking forward to the journey? That's what we are talking about here.

Besides, the job of the attack Dog could be have been passed to the party spokes men while that the office of the spoke man of the presidency does its job in a more decent way, just like the MTN customer care you mentioned.

We are talking about Country and office of the Presidency here my friend. Any roforofo talk should be between the parties.

Clitorial.Dept:
When that drunk Tinibu, who is always slobbering in speech and high all the time described the President as a drunken Fisherman thereby implying a negative stereotype and degenerating a whole tribe of Ijaw and Niger-Deltans as a whole what was Liar Mohammed's take?

Abati should not stop now. I think they are being fed their own medicine.

Touts!
A-ZeD:
With comments like this from 'supposed' educated peeps, Nigeria is in serious trouble.

For your information, when a person represents an entity(company, state or country) he has a responsibility to perform his duties with decency. There's a reason why customer care agents of telecommunications company would never1 react to a customer rudely irrespective of what the customer says.

No matter what the opposition says, Abati as the spokesman of the presidency should never resort to foul language.
Honestly, we are in trouble, big trouble!

I don't think the matter is about the PDP, Lai Muhammed or the ACN. What we are talking about here is that the likes of Okupe and Dr Abati should not bring down the office of the Presidency to the level of disrepute, Period!
PoliticsRe: ACN Advises Abati To Mind His Language by mbhs139(m): 6:35am On Jun 14, 2013
princenonny: well spoken....they though pdp wud jst sit down and let dem run their mouths up and down. The truth is that the opposition should look beyong 2015 and start planing for 2019, cos as far as am concerned 2015 is pdp's to lose
You guys are getting the message wrong! This is not about the PDP or opposition as far as I know. It is about the institution of the presidency, it is about the image of the country, it is about the image of the office of the presidet.

Aren't you the same persons complaining that the president has received so much bashing, and who bring this bashing if not the likes of Abati and Okupe.

Honestly, I find out it very difficult not to use derogatory and abusive language on you and your 12 likes but I've tried very hard to restrain myself. I'm well educated you know.

So, of all the things you read in that post, all you can see is 'lie muhammed' 'acn' and 'heat'?

thelastPope: People do not play football to make money from their countries. You make money from your club. You play with pride for your country. Whatever you are paid is a bonus. Countries dont sign players on
...and in the process, when you notice that some things are not damn right, you also have the right to speak out or take action. However, the bone of contention in this instance is not the money per say, there are lot things going on in the background between the NFF, the coach, Keshi, the SE backdoor staff and which the players don't like. Those things most have culminated in this present agitation.

Aside the tuition fee, and with my experience with online education with Harvard University through Edx, Nigerian Universities should just wake up to the reality or they will be left behind. That's all.

homesteady: From what I read from the post, it was Abati that said it!! Not jonathan!! So jonathan does not have more pressing issues to attend to, that he'll start answering Ribadu stupid criticismhuh?
What ever Abati says, as the spoke person of Jonathan, is said by Jonathan. That's why he's called; 'The Presidential Spoke Person/Man'

9jaganja: As the office of the FRN, you ar enot suppose to be throwing accusations at Nigerians be it opposition or whatever. If they say something untrue, you disprove it with "presidential facts".

If you really need to talk dirty, use proxy organizations not the office of the presidency. Jonathan try and be civilized now..
Honestly, you took it from my mouth. Point on!
EducationMy Pleasant Experience With University Of Liverpool Customer Care Rep by mbhs139(op): 2:16pm On Jun 11, 2013
I filled an online inquiry form on the University of Liverpool website about their Master's Degree in Epidemiology & Bio-statistics. Immediately I submitted the form, not up to 5 minutes, I received a call from their customer service representative and we spoke for 16 minutes plus where she explained everything for me in details to my delight.

The gist is, by the time the world, Nigerians in particular, open their eyes to online university education, all these our so called 'universities of first choice & the nation's pride'; the 'better by far' and the 'bla-bla-bla' would have no place in the scheme of things anymore.

In case you are not aware, there are online PhD now; I have a friend who just completed his early this year and the University of Lagos, where he worked, has already congratulated him.

In Nigerian universities, you will still have to print your registration form and submit at the PG School after even doing on line registration; a balderdash!

touchmeder: Well spoken, they are the chief chasers for sharia law. Let both of them have a taste of what the law does to adulterers
Well, for your information, it is very difficult to purnish someone for adultery or fornication under the Sharia Law because you need four witness, who will swear that they actually saw them 'doing it'. Would anybody wants to do something and go and call people (four people) to come and look?

That's why Sharia may not be appropriate in this instance.

Seun, we have a problem here, seriously we do!

I suppose commentators on this forum are educated? Instead of them to analyse the message as it is, with insights on why they think the man, Dele Momodu, is not correct, all we are seeing are courses and aspersion. Are these the future leaders?! Little wonder your country is the way it is. Damn't!!!

Yea!!! Techno is really trying considering their background and how they started in Nigeria. They are really giving Nokia and Samsung a run for their money in the Nigerian phone market. I think if they are to be rated, they will come above LG and others when it comes to phone and as regards acceptability and market share.

PoliticsRe: The Toll Booths At The New Ikoyi Link Bridge.pics by mbhs139(m): 9:09pm On Jun 03, 2013
I think you people shouting "TAX PAYERS MONEY" are missing some points. Quiet frankly, I really don't support the tolling of any road at that matter, not only this bridge But come to think of it, let's do some academic exercise for the sake of argument, and let's talk about what is called 'sustainable development'? That is: "a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (http://www.iisd.org/sd/). It also refers to a mode of human development in which resource use aims to meet human needs while ensuring the sustainability of natural systems and the environment, so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sustainable_development).

Come to think of it, recall that it is not only those living within the Lekki-Ajah axis that pays tax, and it couldn't have been the tax paid by only those living within that axis that was used to build that bridge, it must have also included the tax paid by those living in Ajegunle, Ayobo-Ipaja, Mushin and so on, who may never in their life time have any cause to use that bridge.

Also recall that this people needs government presence in their areas too. Now, if those in Lekki-Ajah can enjoy the luxury of a 'cable bridge' as you may wish to call it to the detriment of others in the state, then it will not be too much to ask them to pay as little as N150 to ply a 1.53km road to ease their travel time. Else, all of us in the aforementioned areas too should demand for a 'cable bridge'

Alas, that's not the need/priority of the people in these areas for now! What they need in the immediate are: good and affordable housing; good and portable water; good schools for their children; motor-able roads (not the luxury of a bridge) and so on.

When was the last time the residents of Lekki and its environs made use of public hospitals or schools? They don't because they need it. And the last time I checked, voodoo economics though, wealth trickles down from the rich to the poor. So, let the users of that bridge pay a little from their 'haves' so that government will be able to provide for the 'haves-not' in Ajegunle, Ayobo, Ipaja, Mushin and others.

I stand to be corrected, from reasonable people and not with curses or fowl words; I could be bad my self!

Gidi: Wale, I couldn't agree more with your points. You've laid out a coherent argument that is often missing in this forum. I for one don't have a problem with the toll collection. I also believe that the era of free lunch is over. For Nigeria to develop, we must learn to pay for infrastructures that we needed.

In the era of budget constraint, oil revenue is not enough, we the people must step up and build the society we want. Some may argue that we have enough revenue coming from natural resources, I say the revenue is not enough to cater for all our needs -- Education, Housing, Food, Transportation, Health, Rail, Infrastructure, Pension, Savings for future generation.

To have egalitarian society, the rich must pay their fair share. I don't for once subscribe to trickle down economics. I would rather prefer a progressive tax system that can generate enough revenue to build a great state
