The thread is gradually getting scanty replies. But guys you've got to understand why the older fellows can't be here always. There's need for continuity in updates from the new guys(aspirants). I remember I was a part of this thread a long time ago before I got snapped up by KPMG and have since been perpetually absent from goings-on around here(that's often the case anyway). Wishing you guys success in your frantic hunt for that miracle job. |
Tingles: I had my partner interview last week and I got a success mail this afternoon, thanks phonon, mcstan and other people whose advise and hints helped through the interview stages. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys in person.Congrats Tingles. We look forward to meeting you in the big family. Which unit did you apply to by the way? I'm sorry I've been away for a while now to follow up on those who desired it. If there are still any issues that require clarifications, you can beep my line |
Chydoz how far with you? Have you travelled again? |
Phonon: When would one be called for the final interview? This wait is killing...Patience is key when it's got to do with KPMG responses. |
polipompom: @ jerekul, training ws awesome, though hectic. Lasted 4 abt 7 to 8 hrs, though we had a long stretch of break nd a sumptuous lunch I must add. Wk started 2day in earnest. Good luck bruv! That's the kind of thing you get to see at KPMG. Sorry guys for the delay in response, we've been in our peak period for a while now and I've been out of town as a result. You guys can always reach me (by mentioning my moniker) for any inquiries and/or insight. Do have a fulfilling career ahead guys. Cheers!!! |
Tingles: ^ Some of us just passed the aptitude test, waiting for the first interview, what should we expect?Expect an open and friendly chat session. Wish you the best. |
Westlord: U might be right to an extent '***% merit based' so how can you explain a science degree product scaling thru to d final (Partner) then being told d@ not been 4rm an accounting background was d reason 4 my disqulification after asking & being assured d@ it wont be an hindrance @ every stages of d interview. The 100% is for the procedure & organisation bt it is 50% of d general process. I still like KPMG even when dey fell short of my expectatn; bt (KPMG NG) they ar Dream creators/terminators; life is al abt start & stop so I dont blame dem.I understand the way you feel brother, many others have been through same heartbreak. I guess the non-accounting graduate reason for not progressing you past the partner interview was only a seeming more lenient means of dropping you for someone else- there must've been a more telling lapse detected during your interviews which relegated you to a second choice when juxtaposed with other applicants (this is only my opinion from what I've seen). This ought not to deter you but spur you into developing your interview skills Remember, the competition is so stiff among the high-flying graduates that only about 1 in 50 who make it past the aptitude tests eventually get hired. Dust yourself up my man and walk into that promising career path. Getting to the partner level means you're SOUND. Wish you the very best in your career endevours. |
1025: uncle is not about who u won, is about who u won without wayo. you mentioned chelsea, two red cards. one for a player(Torres) for been kicked by evans. even at 9 men, manure needed an offside goal to break a ten year record of not winning at stanford bridge - what a shame.WELL SAID!!! |
And after over six(6) months of writing the test and concluding that I didn't make it through, GT Bank have now decided to call yours sincerely. But I think it's too late now cos I've got a better offer. How I wish someone else would be given this opportunity in my place cos this slot mustn't be a waste |
elbow: kpmg @ macstan. We ar standing here. The most sensible trend so far. I watch how d one love move tru dis trend and i smile. It's been a memorable time while it lasted but now, most of us have moved on. The best to the newbies |
How time flies!!! Months after contributing in the premier pages of this thread... Seems just like yesterday. Wish you guys at GTB a fulfilling career ahead. |
MY PLEASURE |
Without any form of reservation(of words), the KPMG recruitment process is fair and well organised except of course the fact that it could drag for sometime, close to or more than a calendar year atimes. If you guys have been told by the lady in question that recruitment for MC would commence next year, then I'd rather you take her for her word. That's usually the case when it comes to recruitment into Management Consulting(MC), infact some of you guys may be advised to switch to audit if need be(that's from past experiences). You've got to pray and work hard brother, KPMG isn't easy to get into albeit you can be sure that it would be 100% merit-based. A piece of advise for you: If by any chance you're advised by the HR to switch to audit or tax, grab the opportunity with both hands and legs. MC recruits only a few(comparatively) each year which reduces applicants' chances of making it through. Be upbeat brother- you'ld certainly get called, be it on the postive note or otherwise. I hope I've been able to clear your fears in no small measure? If you've got any more doubts anyway, feel free to ask and I'll try my best to give answers to the best of my knowledge(this reply could take some time anyway as we've been very busy lately). Bless your soul brother. Wish you the very best |
I thank God for the wonderful job granted me last month after concluding my NYSC in June 2011, writing over 10 job aptitude tests and 7 interviews. above all, I really thank God for the gift of life and for my salvation |
Well, you may wish to do some brush-offs on excel because it's almost indispensible in practise. However, you're good to go no matter how you are(be sure you'll be brushed up on the job) whether an accounting graduate or not. The only thing is that you've got to stach sufficient corperate wears in your wardrobe. When are you resuming bro? |
^ Great!!! |
rocoh: Its bin three months since my partner interview for forensics and I've not heard anything since then. I called one of my fellow guys interviewed and he told me he has been called that he did not make the cut, but I have not yet been contacted at all. I called the HR. guy some days ago all he said was that for the process is on hold for now that as soon as it resumes I will be contacted . This recruitment has been about a year and three months. Some guys were on theirs for close to two years. Don't worry bro, you'll get called. |
Fortissimo: Thanks bro. I've recently been called.Congrats bro. Which division are you in? I'm sure you didn't meet up with the academy- that'll be next year or you then if that's the case. Welcome on board brother |
tevinsolt: it's the intent behind the action. Was it stated like that in the bible? Hey, don't be that gullible. Just because someone(maybe a pastor) told you so, you just went ahead to believe when the bible succintly says that anyone who does that is an abomination. I'm sure you know where abominable things/persons end up(Rev 21 : 8 ) |
Fortissimo: Thanks mcstan. I'm coming into Tax by God's grace. I wonder when I'd be expected to resume. What unit are you in?So sorry I didn't reply early enough. I've been quite busy at work. I'm actually in the Audit division. How far with your stuff? Any news yet? I thinkk many other people would still get called(some just joined a few days back anyway), so keep hope alive bro. |
tracy10: Hey guys, jus got an invite for a trainin in Abj frm Equinox Oil. Pls whu else got it? Hope dey ar for real?hi tracy, I also got the same mail while at work yesterday. When the text came, I deleted it at once because I thought it wasn't real. Could you please send the cellphone number in that text to me? |
Fortissimo: How far? Anything yet? Just got called to go for my medicals. It's been 1year and 3months since I wrote the aptitude test.Congrats man. Which unit are you coming into? We just finished with the academy same yesterday and will be resuming fully at the office on Tuesday. Welcome on board |
Well guys, that is the Nigerian way you know. Thank God for transparent and merit-based places like KPMG. I have since moved on(as I was made an offer by KPMG) and will be through with training by Friday. What a great place to work! I wish everyone of us well in our endevours |
Guys are doing good |
