The tribes of Nigeria are undoing theirselves in this colonial contraption (ethnic cleansing in the north, oba of lagos' lagoon threat, counter protest for xenophobic doctor Ariyo, hate on social media e.t.c).

Mr House of Rep, Charity begins at home.

There is no point beating around the bush, show a good example by cutting down your allowances first.

Others will follow suit. Buhari will handle his DSS Operatives, EFCC,ICPC,and co. will fish out corrupt individuals.

We know you might not sponsor any bill, all we are saying is CUT DOWN YOUR ALLOWANCES !! Oil prices are dwindling, you and your colleagues should be patriotic and make amendments.

N.B: I can see a man with a broom happy because the Rep is from PDP, another opportunity to bash pointlessly, this is an issue that cuts across all party lines.

CareerRe: Do I Keep Quiet And Save My Job? Please Advise.. A Must Read by mickey45: 11:49am On Jun 08, 2015
ConfessionsNgr:
I live and work in Lagos. Right now I am caught in a very difficult situation and I do not know what to do about it. Please before passing judgment on me, I want you to take your time to read and analyze my situation. I graduated from the university about nine years ago and was not able to secure a job for a very long time. I applied for jobs in various places including private companies and government establishment but my effort was to no avail. I had moved over to Lagos about three years ago with the belief that my situation would improve but it didn’t, not until last year when I ran into an old school friend of mine at a function I attended here in Lagos. He was the one who saw me first and recognized me. He walked up to my table and called out my name. I immediately recognized him as my primary school friend whom I had lost contact with since we left primary school. We got talking and he told me that he was working in one oil service company in Apapa as one of their managers. When he asked me what I was doing, I didn’t waste time in telling him that I have been searching for job since I graduated and have been unable to secure one. He told me to send him my CV and promised to help. True to his words, I was called up for interview a few weeks later by his company after sending him my CV. The long and short of the matter was that I was employed by his company with a very good salary running into six figures and my life has changed for the better. However, about a month ago, some colleagues of mine whom we work together on the same team called me and gave me fifty thousand naira as my share of proceeds for the left over materials that we had used to work. This was something that was usually done whenever we went to work on a location and we were not able to use the whole materials, Instead of returning it, the materials were usually sold off and the proceed was shared by the team members. It was a normal thing with the workers in the company and so when my share was given to me, I collected it without raising eyebrow. But unknown to me this particular material that was sold was stolen by my team members from the warehouse. Right now, the company has found out and my friend is been indicted because he the head of our department. He is on the verge of losing his job unless he produces the real culprit or the materials itself. I feel obligated to tell him who the real culprits are, to save him from this impending sack but that would also put me on the line because they will mention my name that I was also among them since I was also given a share of it, although I honestly was not aware that the material was stolen. I really don’t know what to do at this point because my conscience is pricking me but I cannot afford to lose my job at this time. So what do I do now?

Even though we may all be clapping when PMB named Agriculture and Mining as his focus.
I know agriculture is a heavily subsidized industry even in the most developed countries.
Mining on the other hand is another area entirely, a good look at the London Metals exchange will only show a downwardly spiraling unstable trend for cmmodity prices. Thus except for very profitable ones, I wait to see our presido's magic wand given that we hardly have any robust policy framework for the mining sector yet (one that will comprehensively answer to profit sharing, pollution, labour and safety, etc).
But for him to say anything abt those areas, he must've done his homework well and I can't wait to see him start. Many proffessionals will now have other viable areas to get engaged apart from d almighty "Oye and Gas industry"

Exactly!!! However from the little he has let on about his plans, I just hope GMB will not pursue a regional administration at d expense of all of us. Given that Agriculture and minerals (mining) (which are d two areas he said he'll focus on) only have above average footings in the north.

Heads up as u guys (15A) get to camp or are already at sagamu orientation camp.
The camp has one of the best facilities as regards corpers welfare (i.e hostels, friendly nysc camp officials e.t.c)
After the first week of parade, otondos are now eligible to join groups like the nysc band, red cross, sports committee etc). These group provide an escape route for those who want to skip parade and also for those who want to follow their passion. I was a member of the nysc band out of passion during my time as a corper. Those who make the band after rigorous training will retain the band as their CDS after the orientation exercise. Most members of the band like 65%make it to Abeokuta(abk) becos band members base is at abk and it's only in abk u can have the band as ur CDS.
So many pple like the soldiers and other security operatives wld deceive so many pple into believing that they cld influence your posting to a place of ur choice, it doesnt work out so 95% of the time. The only pple that can influence posting (tho not 100%) are the nysc camp officials (i.e platoon officers and those in the admin building).
I served in Ikenne LG batch 14A, babcock university precisely. I wouldnt advice those looking at babcock uni as a possible PPA to go that way cos the place is full of stress as the work corpers are made to do is 'courier'. U carry mail from one dept to anoda while trekking round the schl. The only benefit are free wireless and that they pay 10k which when u analyse cant compensate for the stress u've gone through. Plus u resume work @7.30am, sign in which ends at 7.55am and attend the compulsory chapel which ends @ 8.30am, u close for the day @5pm after dispatching mails under the sun or in the rain as the nysc anthem sayswink. Any day u miss work for any reason and it geys to the knowledge of the Director HR, ur salary will be deducted.
If I may suggest, Animal care consult in iperu-remo Ikenne LG is a better option when it comes to welfare and pay. It is a poultry farm. They pay 20k plus accomodation and lunch + eggscheesy.
But if u are looking for a place near lagos then Ifo LG and Otta LG is the LG to be in.
Dont mind my lenghty post o, was in the mood for it.
Please do enjoy ur service year as it comes by once.
Feel free to ask questions as i wld try to provide solutions to them.

How do you think one can survive in Ota n still b able to save? Especially if he /she wasrejected at d first PPA. Which of the secondary school will you adjudge as better n terms of pay, accommodation n etc? Or which industryzgcompany best fits for an engineering grad

PoliticsRe: Who Set 2015 As End Of Amnesty Program? by mickey45: 9:52pm On May 29, 2015
theV0ice:
At the inauguration today, PMB made the following statement

''......The amnesty programme in the Niger Delta is due to end in December, but the Government intends to invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place. I call on the leadership and people in these areas to cooperate with the State and Federal Government in the rehabilitation programmes which will be streamlined and made more effective. As ever, I am ready to listen to grievances of my fellow Nigerians. I extend my hand of fellowship to them so that we can bring peace and build prosperity for our people......''

and the sad and bitter souls entered the market in a display of madness occasioned by bitterness without waiting to digest what he actually meant. Maybe it's illiteracy or bile but a little thinking could have helped them out. President Buhari (how sweet that sounds grin) was only echoing what every sane and living human in Nigeria already knew: the GEJ govt had marked 2015 as the end of amnesty program.

hear what Kuku, the amnesty czar said. A simple Google search could have cured some of the orubebeism the children of anger got afflicted with.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/why-amnesty-ends-2015-kuku/

To break it down (for those unable to comprehend), EVEN IF GEJ HAD CONTINUED AS PRESIDENT, AMNESTY WAS GOING TO END THIS YEAR and Kuku gave very cogent reasons why. You should even praise PMB for saying he'll invest HEAVILY in the program. see the below from the same speech.

Government intends to invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place

Now you guys can take your grievances to otuoke. That's where ex-president GEJ, who designed it to end this year, retired to.
Exactly !!!
But I think it's high time we stop focusing on who said what and start analysing (even if just for the sake of public discourse as in the "Plato" era) the quality, correctness and "bestness" of the policy or actions themselves.
While I agree that GEJ n Yar-adua have years b4 now stipulated when d whole amnesty issue will end, the bone of contention now is some people's posturings and threats here.

But the "democrats" have little to no excuse for not bettering their peoples' lot for they were in one way or the other elected on by the populace for that very reason.
