Those schools take time to teach their students.Students and lecturers are evaluated from time to time. No witch hunting of students like we see in many Nigeria public universities. Less cases of disruption of academic activities that are prevalent in many public universities
Yeah...the way some lecturers victimise their students is so appalling...

This is either extreme courage or arrant stupidity and career suicide...

It is not free. No enough funding from the government hence the necessary charges
Yes i meant "supposed" to be free. When UNIPORT students protested against implementation of exam fees, the official line from the vc was that there are no "school fees" only "departmental levies" or something like that

Rubbish

Is the powder not also toxic to your health? Do you know it's ingredients?

Some of powder may float in air like dust and could be inhaled.
Also unless it kills the roaches immediately on contact, roaches will spread the toxin around the house and even to any food that's not properly covered.

Best option is cleaning and denying them water.
Thats why I pour the powder into a small container, leave the cover slightly ajar and then place it in a corner where the cockroaches are.

I browsed the ingredients of that greenleaf before opening it and it has a low toxicity for humans

All this stuff is harmful sha but we have to manage them, those things are too disgusting for words. Cleaning doesnt seem to be enough

But if you put beans in shawarma it don turn to burrito na. Also if your shawarma is dry, change your shawarma guy. The guy I buy from, if you eat his shawarma ehn, you will want to eat that paper they use to wrap it.
Yeah a burrito and shawarma are the same thing but from different cultures ie. different spices and different methods of preparation. Basically just a wrap roll or a sandwich

Yeah you're right...or better still i should make it at home lol grin

I really really hate that thing.

It's because of the way we build our drainage. They live and multiply there.

I haven't seen one roach even tiny one since I left the country which convinced me that our drainage system breeds them.
Yea and rats too

What i notice is that even if ones house is very dirty, if the outside surrounding areas are built up, rat/cockroach/lizard will have no idea that house even exists

Its because of surrounding bad drainage and dirty waterways that pests find their way because of the moisture and the smell. Most of them would rather be outside

I never found the cure for those giant mutant cockroaches that wander in from the bush...one night I was sleeping and heard an incredible noise coming from my sink...thought it was a rat...it was actually a huge cockroach scrabbling around before it died...wonder why it came into my room to die...sad

even if you spray it or beat it with broom/slipper it will revive after a few hours....like something from jurassic park...

Buy Green Leaf powder and pour it everywhere. It is 50naira per sachet and works like MAGIC.
yes i prefer this than spraying chemicals everywhere that will kill the cockroach and kill you too. That powder is a godsend...

sprays, camphors and all that stuff have a lot of cancer-causing agents and chemicals that do some nerve damage

Yes, only few make it from comfort zone to comfort zone. The trend
what you said was interesting but what about intergenerational wealth? Donald Trump came from a very rich family and worked so hard to multiply his father's wealth and keep the lineage shining. David Cameron and Boris Johnson also came from very genteel homes. In fact the very basis of Britishh society is the fact that wealthy landowners hand down property to their children and dont give anybody a chance

Isnt this more a matter of discipline and correct orientation in a childs upbringing so that they will understand their position and responsibilities?

I personally dont like the idea of too much money myself, but that may be a symptom of my own upbringing. I grew up extremely "normal", with parents who did "normal" public service jobs, and now I even balk at the idea of being a manager or supervisor of any kind

you mentioned some bad apples but what about yusuf and zahra buhari? Even if we dont like their father, they are far from useless

until recently I dont remember hearing of any suicide in Nigeria apart from Okonkwo from Things Fall apart

It should be...as in something like "adopted cuisine" the way Americans love chinese food.

And to be frank, the way lebanese people finish everybody in this country, we are supposed to be getting something out of it.

Lol. Localised shawarma

Some entrepreneur could see the business opportunity in this and start adding custom fillings to shawarma to make it more interesting...

I sometimes feel that it needs something like sweet potato or a spoonful of mashed up, seasoned beans to spice it up... cos at times the chicken wey dey inside dey too damn dry....

Why do you choose to engage in an unnecessary argument just for the sake of argument?

I went to great lengths to type out this elaborate explanation so that you should desist from such atrocious errors are in your daily use of English, it leaves a very poor impression.
As you can see from my last post, I definitely know the difference between "versed" and "vast" and have never pronounced them the same. I took this up not for the sake of argument, but because I saw something wrong in what you said.

You are taking the statement too literally. The word "vast" can definitely be used in a figurative sense, more akin to the definition you provided in number (4). His meaning can be implied; I am [intellectually] vast enough to know everything about communication. the word "everything" is our context, showing that he could use either "versed" or "vast".

I maintain that there is nothing wrong with what he said. In fact your own construction was a lot clumsier...hardly anybody refers to themselves as being "versed" in something, even if it is technically grammatically correct. A more appropriate wording would be "well-versed".

Language is not just about grammar...there is a balancing of grammar, meaning, intrinsic aesthetic and inference...

Human beings are in fact, extremely vast. In the metaphorical sense of the word...

Op don chop beating taya. Well, in those days I used to believe in all those gadgets, but these days, never again.

I looked at our leaders and the leaders of the oyibos that were not beaten like ours, there are vast differences between theirs and ours. So, if childhood beatings produced resultant leaders like Buhari, Tinubu, Oshiomole, Dino etc, I would rather leave my kids unbeaten and produce Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, Scott Morrison, Theresa May. These guys countries are working, yet, dem no chop blala. *Ogunkorlaye*
You are right but some of those people were actually beaten since corporal punishment was only outlawed in uk schools in the mid 80s

In those days even their police used to beat unruly teenagers...

That should serve your point better since Boris Johnson and Theresa May are some of the most heartless and crafty people in politics. As for trump, its only him who knows what his problem is....
