Trigger Happy: Absolute rubbish go to youtube n watch Azonto Fiesta by Sarkodie, You go kill me by Sarkodie, Antenna by Fuse ODG and Kaalu by EL then you will know wot Azonto is all about cuz all i see is fake Azonto call Alingo cheesy cheesy grin grin cheesy cheesy grin grin cheesy grin
My brother, many Nigerian musicians are now copying the Ghanaian Hiplife beats/rhyhthms which is the origin of the Azonto beats, especially the ones produced by Sarkodie.
People like Olamide, Ruggedman, Terry G, Timaya, Iyanya, Duncan Mighty, Omawumi, Falvour etc are all copying the Ghana Hiplife rhythmn, which basically the fusion of Highlife and Rap music.
If you cast your mind back to 5 years agao, Iyanya and others were all playing some fake R&B....but they are all now playing the Ghana Hiplife style which rocks heavily in party dance halls

After destroying their people livelihood, destroying their houses and killing their chief in the process, the clueless and heartless governor is now trying to deceive the kids with a phantom school. 2015 in sight.

This was the man that bought helmets for Motorcyclists(Okada) before the elections and started using policemen to destroy their machine and haunt the same people into cells after the elections.

Wicked soul! No one should be deceived by this man called Fashola

The so-called 'Alingo' dance is actually a re-cap of the Azonto dance with a little variation.

The P-Square 'Alingo' video is full of Azonto dance moves, but in a desperate bid to create a dance-step that will be credited to them, they copied/hijacked the Azonto dance(e.g the twisting of the foot & movement of the hands/body) and called it Alingo! Crap. If you want to dance Azonto, call it Azonto.....dont copy something from somewhere and call it another name.
This is what pisses me off in some of our musicians. They are never original.

The Azonto dance is very creative with a lot of free-styling, so it cannot fade away easily. You can dance it in a variety of ways, and it easy for both old and young alike. It is hurriedly-packaged and rigid dance-steps that lack free-styling that would die easily.

P-Square's 'Alingo' is 'Azonto' re-packaged in another name!
Politics › Re: TB Joshua Prophesied That Children Would Be Killed In USA by mikeapollo: 6:59pm On Dec 17, 2012
People can be very dumb!

Cant you see that the prophecies are like alerts/warnings for people to take appropriate steps, prayers etc to avoid it? Do you prefer nobody sees anything, yet we have people who call themselves men of God?

What steps did the people/govts concerned take to avert the warnings?

Whenever TB gives a prophecy, he asks the nation/world to join him in prayers to God, because he alone cannot avert it! Do you people bother to join him in prayers? All you do is follow fashion and EPL stories.

This man has been saying these things because he feels concerned and wants the nation to do something to avert these dangers, but no one listens.....and you still blame the person who wants his people of impending dangers in order to make them take steps to avert.

Are you blaming TB Joshua for your deaf ears or what?
Christianity Etc › Re: Should We Start Taking TB Joshua Seriously? by mikeapollo: 1:39pm On Dec 17, 2012
I prefer a man of God that would warn me of impending danger in order to make me avoid the danger and stay alive, rather than a man of God that wld tell me everything is fine, you are free....only for me to encounter a serious danger that could terminate my life.

It is better for me to avoid dangers that have been foretold by a prophet, rather than men of God that would be runnning helter-skelter to host a fumbling president at a camp ground, who inflicted severe pain and hardship on innocent citizens of the nation by increasing fuel prices on January 1,2012 after paying visit to the same camp ground. Those are the men of God who compete in buying jets, and would tell you that all is well...only for you to meet danger/death a minute later.

Truth is never the friend of a wicked world!

If you want to live in a developed country, stop having free thing mentality. There was a time when things were free but now you have to pay. Govt needs to provide securities, infrastructure, stable power, business environment e.t.c that will enable citizens to depend on theirselves by carrying out economic activities
I dont know how old or how matured you are, so I would not blame you.
A nation can only develop when its citizensa are empowered through education, not by planting flowers and embarking on inflated contracts. Ekiti, Osun Edo states etc are not the richest states in Nigeria, but they still strive to make higher education accessible for their citizens. Ekiti state govt has just announced a comprehensive scholarship scheme for its citizens. Osun State is trying to subsidise education for its people too.

What is your corrupt, greedy and arrogant Fashola doing in Lagos? Taking higher education awat from the reach of the ordinary Lagosians.

If you are fortunate to have parents who are paying your bills, remember those who may be very very brilliant but with unfortunate circumstances who are finding things difficult. The essence of govt is to make life easier for the majority, who incidentally are the poor. It s the poor people that queue up in the sun to vote. The rich dont stand in the sun to vote.

The 2 things that the masses enjoy directly from govt are good health care and education. Fashola has virtually messed up those sectors....it is now cash and carry for the rich only!

Awolowo, Jakande and even Tinubu made provisions for the less privileged, but not this useless and mean governor called Fashola.

Tony Spike: You see, we Nigerians are funny set of people. When Ribadu chose many of his Northern friends to help him start EFCC, He was later crucified for that singular reason during 2011 election. From your statement, does it mean SLS was the most incorruptible according to Yar'adua? Was it not the same Yara'dua (of blessed memory) that chose Micheal Aondoakaa and Farida Waziri on the behest of James Ibori? Look my friend, don't make assumptions for our political leaders, they surely know what they are doing, we are just pawns in their endgame(s). On your bolded question, I have no response. Infact, I don't want to know who is more intelligent. Thank you.
The Farida Waziri you mentioned still has the best record in the history of EFCC to date. I mean verifiable achievements based on evidence on ground, not by media campaign as witnessed under Ribadu!. I stand to be corrected.

That woman recorded the highest number of prosecutions and convictions during her 3 years as EFCC chairman, more than Ribadu's 5 years. She prosecuted and charged people that Ribadu could NEVER touch during his time.

I dont know why some of you people are blind to the fact that Fashola hates the poor and does not have any policies or compassion for the poor!
Do you want tuition fees in Federal universities to be hiked to N5m per seesion? and deny poor students the benefits of higher education?

Do you want all Nigerian medical doctors/university lecturers to be sacked and all hospitals/universities grounded because a stupid and foolish egocentric person somewhere wanted to flex his muscles with people demanding their legitimate rights, while the maases continue to die and suffer?

Fashola is a doomed failure. All he does is to award contracts for flowers and inflated road contracts where he can cut his share, while education and health services, the main sectors that benefit the masses directly are neglected!

Your Fashola is a disgrace, and the real problem of Lagos State.

During Tinubu's time, how many unjust demolishings of poor peoples' homes did he carry out without adequate notice and compensation? Yet he was the one that started the re-constucttion of roads in Lagos-VI,Ikoyi,Ikeja,Mushin, and other parts of Lagos etc

Did you hear Tinubu say he has sacked the whole 800 doctors during his time as governor? Tinubu listens and he has a way of carrying people along. There was never a serious industrial action by workers during Tinubu's time.

Tinubu it was that started the re-engineering of Lagos. All the facilities and institutions generating over 20 billion per month for Fashola e,g. BRT,LASTMA, LIRS, LAWMA/PSP, LASAA, Oracle State-wide network etc were either initiated or rejuvenated by Tinubu.

OBJ stopped Lagos State Local Govt funds for about 3 years, yet Tinubu was able to sustain the administration without sacking a single worker! How many Governors can survive such in Nigeria, even in Lagos?

Fashola has been exposed big time. He is an extortionist, arrogant, pompous, mean, wicked, insensitive and reckless capitalist. Can you imaginge he deployed policemen to disperse Medical Doctors from their meeting venue and also deployed policemen to disperse the anti-toll protesters at Lekki?

Do you know Fashola is responsible for the death of the Makoko chief?

Fashola is a curse for the poor citizens of Lagos. I voted for him in 2011, but I can NEVER vote for him again.
If you dont know, Fashola is already destoring about 3,000 Okada motorcycles! Can you imagine that? What sense does it make to destroy the sources of living for poor unemployed youth. At worst, he could imposed some fees or even auction the motorcycles. But the power-drunk will show his character. Did you see/hear Tinubu take such barbaric and insensitive act?

Please, leave Tinubu alone. He is not a saint, and he definitely has his flaws, excesses and controversies. But his government was far better than Fashola.

Tell me a single thing Fashola has initiated/originated apart from making foolish laws that can never be meaningfully implemented?

Tinubu built many housing estates within the reach of the poor, and also built markets. Tell me a single housing estate or market that Fasholas has built that is affordable for poor/middle income people to rent or buy?

That he casts out demons or helps d poor doesnt certify him an 'authentic' Man of God. Am not here to judge him, its just that we have to be very careful especially at this trial periods
So who is the 'servant of God'? The person who goes about condemning/abusing/attacking/persecuting/judging others or the person who says he will not return evil for evil but uses the blessings/gifts in his life to help the suffering people without ever opening his mouth to talk evil or attack or condemn anybody?

Stop quoting the Bible out of context to suit your mischievious intentions!

Jesus said, 'If you love me, obey my commandments'! One of the commandments of Lord Jesus Christ is 'Thou shall not judge or condemn'! Who is breaking that law, now? Is it TB Joshua or Helen Ukpabia and her PFN group?

The Lord Jesus also said ....'These are the signs that shall follow those who believe in me...In my name they shall cast out demons, they shall lay their hands and heal the sick, etc...' How many of the these signs is Helen Ukpabio known for?
Hpw many fruits of the Holy Spirit does she possess or display, compared with TB Joshua! Jealousy, hatred, blackmail, envey, etc are all fruits of the flesh and that is what the PFN/Helen Ukpabio are made of.

Do you know/remember the Pharisees were quoting the Scriptures to justify their evil/hatred and envy against Jesus Christ? He was called King of Beezebulb. His human and educational background were questioned. They lied against Him, called Him names and Killed Him. The same Pharisees that did those things are still alive today. As it was, so it is!

We all knew/saw the humble beginning of the TB Joshua's ministry. His church was built with ordinary plants and iron/ zinc roofing sheets. But the anoitning had always been with him and he was performing outstanding mircales to heal the people of different sicknesses. They said his HEALING Mircale POWERS were given to him by demons.

Now that the man is using his money/wealth to help the poor, they are saying his MONEY is given to him by demons!

But let me ask Helen Apkabio and others like her: Where does their own 'anointing power' come from?

Shameless hypocrites! TB Joshua has become their eternal headache. They cant seem to stop thinking/talking about TB Joshua. If you ask them, why CBN is planning to print N5,000, they would probably tell you that TB Joshua is the cause.

Confused people!

If TB Joshua's power and benevolence comes from the devil, then all the so-called PFN christians should be ashamed of themselves! The devil cannot be doing good(healing, blessing, reconciliation, etc) while childredn of Christ are doing evil(persecution, condemnation, criticsm, jealousy, hatred etc)

It musnt be death, death, plane crash and yet, more deaths...There are better things to predict like Falconets scaling through to the fiinals? Those propehecies are given so that people who care to listen/obey would take necessary steps/actions e.g prayer, fasting etc to avert or avoid the danger. Is it not better to be forwarned about an impending danger and make efforts to avert it, instead of tellig you sweet lies that everything is well, and only for you to be consumed in the impending calamity/danger that could be avoided or averted if you knew about it? Do you want to be sweet-tongued when danger is around? NIGERIANS!

Cokeroo: I beg to differ. let us objectively examine the evnts of 66-70.
(1) Massive corruption and looting by the Balewa government

(2) Nzeogwu, heavily influenced by a lot of revolutions going on at that time (especially the successful cuban revolution) coupled with the American civil rights movements became disillusioned with the state of affairs in Nigeria.

(3) He started the revolution, but it back-fired with many Ibo leaders not being killed unlike those of other tribes(i.e Balewa, Okotie-Eboh, Akintola, Bello etc).

(4) The north planned their revenge and got it. But it didn't end there. It snowballed into ethnic cleansing and genocide. Mind you, not one single Ibo was killed in the south-west.

(5) Based on the killings, the Ibos re-considered their membership of the union and decided to walk- which is by any standard logical.

(6) Awo, instead of either joining the secession or re-negotiating the terms of our union, decided to join Yakubu's bandwagon. ( By the way Yakubu's people are being slaughtered the way he connived in slaughtering Ibos in '66).
Even though Ojukwu was a spoilt brat who didn't listen to advice and was a tad bit selfish in his hasty decision to secede, I still think Awo should have done better. He would have saved us maitatsine, Jos crisis, zango-kataf, Boko-Haram and millions of lives that have been lost to the war that has been going on since 1966 (In case you didn't know, we are still at war).
Ironsi was in power when Awo was in prison. Ironsi failed or refused to release him. Gowon came and released Awo. Do you expect Awo to pay him back with war?

Col Banjo was a Yoruba man who fougth on the side of Biafra. He was killed by the Biafra soldiers. Then the Biafra soldiers decided to over-run Ore and the West to get to Lagos! Do you expect Yoruba people to look when their land was being attacked?

Ojukwu may have had some good points but he made very costly mistakes in the way the war was executed.
Secession is not the same as terrorial expansion! So if he had already declared Republic of Biafra, then what was the Biafran soldiers coming to do through Ore, to Ondo,Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode and Lagos? To destroy the West and Capture Lagos?
Biafra should just have declared Benin/Delta as their buffer zone and stayed away from launching any attack or coming further through Ore. That would have ensured that the east Seceeded, but coming to Lagos is pure territorial aggression

ogugua88: Gbam, gbamer, gbamest. Gbam.com sef. Clear road for man wey sabi.
Truth is bitter but must be told!

Flavour lifted the concept of that song from the Ghana guys' work.

The Ghana guys released their work as far back as 2008, while Flavour's work was released towards the end of 2011.

Most Nigerian musicians singing highlife always tap something from the Ghanaian highlife musicians, who are better at it and more original, but they sing mostly in Ghanaian local languages. But Nigerian musicians sing more in English, so they enjoy some leverage.
Tony Tetuila was the first among the present crop of young Nigerian musicians to tap into the Ghanaian fast temp hip-lfe in the late 1990s and early 2000s, which Nigerians are now calling Afro hip-hop. Ghanaians have been playing their fast tempo hiplife for time immemorial.

What music were people lik Eedris, Tuface, PSquare, Flavour, DBanj, JMartins, Duncan Mighty, Omawumi,Iyanya etc playing 10 years ago? They were all doing some meaningless R&B, American Hip-Hop.
They started playing the hiplfie/afro hip-hop style just about 5 years ago after their exposure to Ghanaian music from STV's MUSIC AFRICA and their traveling and colloborations with Ghanaian musicians.
Infact most of the Afro hip-hop hit songs in Nigeria are less than 5 years in the Market! While it is has always been the hit style in Ghana for over 20 years. I vistited the country(Ghana) severally in the 90s and early 2000s and I witnessed the trend. And even Tony Tetuila acknowledged and confirmed it when he was on tour with TicTac to Ghanaian parties in Ghana and abroad!

We Nigerians just like to copy(or maybe steal) things from other places and then pretend to claim ownership! Very soon we shall claim to be owners of Azonto dance!

Ishilove: Ghanaian artistes should go and sit down! They can't be compared in music quality with Flavour. Flavour is a pole apart who is paying tribute to his friend and mentor,MC Loff. Ghanaians are not noted for good quality music because their music contents are always drab and dry without any meaningful or discerning message. N'abania is an original work of Flavour
You seem not to know the history and relationship between Ghana and Nigeria in terms of music.
The greatest musicians in Nigerian history (mostly highlife)got their inspiration, knowledge, influence, etc from Ghana. That was in pre-independence days. The likes of Rex Lawson, Victor Olaiya, Bobby Benson,Chris Ajilo, Orlando Julius, Orlando Owoh, Fela Anikulapo Kuit etc either played with a Ghanaian highlife band before setting up their bands, or went to stay in Ghana for sometime to learn the knitty-gritty of the music, or had Ghanaians as key band members.
Infact, the annual Havana Music Festival at University of Ibadan always had the great highlife bands of Ghana playing, especial the The Ramblers Band. That was from the late 50s till early 70s. Same with the likes of Osibisa Band,; that bans also played at Festac 77. Ghana had the best and most widely traveled musicians in those days, and that was when Nigerian musicians caught the highlife bug.
E.T. Mensah is known to be the mentor of many great Nigerian highlife musicians like Victor Olaiya, Chris Ajilo, Bobby Benson etc.

Just a few weeks ago, a Nairalander posted a list of some old Ghanaian highlife musicians that were based in Onitsha and how they set the whole Eastern Nigeria on fire with their highlife melodies

safarigirl: Got no time to reply attention seekers. Whether Flavor copied or not, I don't care, where else did the copied song play apart from Ghana? what guarantees do you have that those eediots didn't also steal from someone else? I repeat, there is NO ORIGINALITY in any song of this century, everything is a remix. Better artistes have had their songs copied without raising dust, these backyard boys wan come talk. They can cry all they want, nothing will be done, e be like sey hunger don drive them comot from their cave, Flavor don turn meal ticket, only one semi-hit song that made waves just in their local government na im we no go hear word, wetin do others? Abi they couldn't find another person to steal from? Do you know how many people have remixed 'chop my money'? Has P-square sued anyone? If it's not hunger that's motivating these f00ls, what else? Abeg make we rest jare, anybody looking for originality should go back to 90's music and above.
Why are u abusing people, calling them idiots when they have not offended you. Let Flavour come out and defend himself if he has his points or his own side of the story!

It is not a crime to lift a song/track from someone else's works....all what is required is to acknowledge them. It does not even require any money or legal battles if you appreciate their originality and acknowlegde it in your own works.

The problem has to do with the desperation of a typical Nigerian to want to cut corners or impress people at all costs, even when he lacks the requisite credentials/capacity to do that.
In the western world, big artiste do copy/lift materials from other artistes, but they go ahead and acknowledge them in their new works.
Whitney Houston sang 'I Will Always Love You' and acknowledged Dolly Parton as the original owner of the song.
That is what Flavour should have done instead of trying to play a fool on his fans and as well as the original owners of what he copied

phantasm: Hey, talking about an artiste copying from a song is a case on its own. But talking about artistes on styles that might have originated from another region is no talk please.
Every ariste has the right to choose or tailor what genre of music he'll like to major or minor on. Besides, genres or styles of music are not and can never be uniquely registered to any kind of region....

And to all those who kept saying local artistes borrowed from from intl ones as early as the early 2000's- that was a big lie. Tony Tetuila before his collaboration with Tic Tac has released some fast track, danceable songs which wasnt influenced at all by what some people are claiming. It was even during his era that there came to birth Tic Tac n the likes...
The internet is a good library for research and some acclaimed media houses that were and are still around are also places to inquire of facts....

If as some people here claim that the 'intl' guys originated fast tempo hiplife songs like the ones prevalent in our locality today and you were all good at mentioning some of thier legendary artistes of highlife who could have started the trends many years back. Then where would you put the likes of our late and living and legendary fast if not faster tempo highlife artistes like Sir Orlando Julius, Dairo, and some eastern folks with thier distinct and creative styles of highlife music?

Is wrong to steal from another person's work without the owner's consent and I am not disputing that, but the matter of genres or style of music is a different ball game entirely.....Artistes are at liberty to choose what style of music suit them...
I agree that an artiste may adopt a style of music from another country.....but be honest and sincere to admit it.

It is the shamelessness in we Nigerians trying to glorify or cover up obvious wrongs that bother me.
The same reason we refuse to scrutinise anybody that has money, irrespective of whether the money was stolen. We dont bother to know the source....all we are just interested in is the money he has made!
We dont bother how original our musicians are, we are all concerned about how appealing their music is.

When you copy/lift a material from someon else, just be honourbale and honest enough to acknowledge their original works, simple!

It is very annoying and disgraceful whenever a man realises that his woman does not know how to cook.

Put aside your BB and useless Nollywood videos and take some time in the kicthen to master the art of cooking.

Your man will always rush home when he is sure to meet a delicious meal cooked by his WIFE, and NOT by a Househelp!

I have refused to be serious with some ladies in the past because they did not know how to cook!

Mortiple: Your assertions are totally incorrect. High life, back in the days, was generally classified as West African style of music which possibly originated from Ghana and spread to other Aglo-phone West African countries namely Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Gambia. Overtime, this style of music has evolved.

One thing I know, in the late 80s and 90s, the Nigerian music industry witnessed the likes of Mike Okri, Felix Liberty, Chris Hanem, Christy Igbokwe Felix and Mossyx, etc who were conspicuously playing what one may call modern highlife or afro-hiphop. Hope you did not deliberately leave them out in order to drive home your point? Meanwhile, would you be kind to name those Ghanaian artists who purported introduced modern (high-tempo) highlife for comparison?
Look, truth be told, Highlife originated from Ghana. No controversies about that.

Nigerian musicians like Mike Okri, Felix Liberty etc were original in the 80s. But before them, we had the great musicians like Rex Lawson, Bobby Benson, Roy Chicago, Victor Olaiya etc who were the progenitors of highlife music in Nigeria. But you know what? Virtually all of them went to Ghana to learn the music or played with a Ghanaian band or employed Ghanaian instrumentalists in their band. There was a very massive influence on Nigerian music by Ghana in those days. The best highlife band, The Ramblers Band and other Ghanaian Highlife bands were a constant feature at University of Ibadan's Havana Muscic Concerts, as early as the 50s till the ealry 70s. Go check it out
Even the great Fela Anikulapo Kuti had to go to and stay in Ghana for years to learn the rudiments of Highlife Music before he became a hit in Nigeria. Before his sojourn to Ghana, Fela was nothing compared to the senior highlife musicians of his era. He came back with a bang, and his radical and social crusading posture endeared him to the people. You can find out from Femi Kuti if this is true of not.

I may not have a list of the names of Ghanaian musicians that introduced the modern fast tempo highlife. But you can find out at STV Music Africa. In the early 2000, Nigerian musicians were not playing the current type of music. It was Ghanaian musicians who have always stuck to their highlife and keep modernising their brand of music that have been playing that tempo. I visited Ghana several times in the late 90s and early 2000s, and that was the sounds in their clubs.

Ask Tony Tetuila...he would tell you his experiences at Ghanaian parties he attended in Ghana and Europe when he was on tour with Tic-Tac after their collaboration.. That was when the new trend started spreading in Nigeria.

safarigirl: BULLSH1T! Omawumi's Bottom belle is a copy of a Nigerian song from the late 50's, West African beats sound alike, so you can't attribute any beat to one country. Who no dey copy? Mention any song and I betcha it had an original, even those from VIP . With a good lawyer, that case won't greet a court sitting, in fact, it won't even pass Nairaland sef, na today all these attention seekers start? Wetin do Blackface wey accuse Tu face of stealing African Queen, and that Ekiti chic that accused Wizkid of stealing Pakurumo? Mtcheww, hungry desperados
e

You see the problem? Talking what you dont understand. Do you know where 'Bonsue' music/sound originated from? Do you know where the Highlife we claime to play in Nigeria originated from?

The issue is not about legality or otherwise. It is the truth about the originality or otherwise of their works!

These are the same musicians who cry everyday about piracy, yet they are shameless enough to be stealing other people's songs. And instead of being objective you are here supporting mediocrity!

Go to Sound City/STV Music Africa and ask them to play you Ghanaian hip-life tunes of the ealry 2000s and you would realise what I am talking about. Even the musicians you are trying to defend know the truth....only that in Nigeria we have become increasingly shameless.
#If you listen to the songs under contest, you will realise that Flavour actually copied exactly the rhythms and opening sounds of their songs.

There is no problem if you acknowledge the original owners/writers of a piece of artwork(e.g music, etc), but to pretend to be dismiss the truth is just shameful
