lucrownt: Has Nigerian currency appreciate since his appointment? It depreciated drastically, so why giving him an award?Do you know the factors that influence exchange rate? Your currency can only appreciate when the govt empowers the industrial sector, empower the citizens through employment/job creation and we are able to produce more, export more, import less and with favourable foreign exchange reserve. Most of these things are beyind the CBN governor Sanusi has done well by putting policies that defend the value of the Naira. If not for his insitsence, the Naira would have reached 180:$ since 2011. Remember, the dollar got to around 175:$ shortly before Sanusi was appointed in 2008. |
Nonsense! You fast and pray, only for you to sing immoral and devilish songs, but because of money! You fast and pray, only to imitate others as copy cats? I used to have some respect for these guys in the past because of some creativity in their earlier releases. But all they do now is to steal songs/beats/dance steps and then try to put their own names on it......all their beats now are imitation of Azonto beat and some other Ghanaian hiplife songs |
That useless 'Alingo' song/dance by copy cats PSquare |
chinnyonwu: Is it not the same church dat claimed to have freed tonto from her bondage of cigarettes? Only for it to become weed few months later? Abeg they should hav several seatsFoolish talk! Where did you read that the church made any claims of delivering Tonto Dickeh? It was Tonto that said she got delivered from smoking while she was watching Emmanuel TV. It takes your genuine willingness and God's power and grace to change a man. No pastor can change anybody by force. If you are not ready to pay the price of discipline and commitment, no change will come on its own |
sexymoma: No be the same church Toto Dicey got delivered...Stop being arrogant in ignorance. Tonto Dickeh never attended the church....she only said she only watched Emmanuel TV and claimed she was delivered from smoking. It takes your genuine willingness and Gid's ability to cause a change in a man's life. No pastor can change you by force if you are not willing to pay the price for a new way of life |
A lot of people on this forum (and the nation Nigeria)are ignorant. That is why a certified thief like Obasanjo can still be talking and deceiving them. Obasanjo is more corrupt than anybody president, bar Babangida. I am not to defend Atiku, but the events during the 2007 elections and the PTDF probe showed clearly that Obasanjo was the corrrupt thief. The US govt sought for some clarifications from the Nigerian govt, and Obasanjo used that opportunity to cook and fabricaye lies against Atiku. The case in the US involving Jefferson (US Congressman) has been FULLY PROSECUTED AND JUDGEMENT HAS BEEN DELIVERED IN US. Jefferson was found guilty, but nothing was found against Atiku. Atiku was not implicated in the judgement in any way. The money that was claimed to have been offered to Atiku was found in Jefferson's freezer. Atiku was cleared in the judgement by the US court. Those who care to know can search for the case online. Atiku has been traveling to the US since then, He attended the graduation/convocation ceremony of his wife in a US university shortly afterwards. Atiku is not a fugitive in US. The EFCC of Obsanjo era was a headed by a hypocrite thief. Where did Ribadu get money to buy FG execuitve house in Abuja without bidding for it? Same thing for El Rufai. The houses were offered to Atiku to buy(as a trap) but Atiku declined.....but the greedy thief called El-Rufai grabbed a whole Vice-Presidents lodge to himself without bidding for the house! People should re-visit the PTDF case and see how Obasanjo looted Nigeria by selling Oil Blocks. Nicon-Nuga Hilton, NITEL etc to a company (Transcorp) in which he has 200million units of shares.....Obasanjo sold Nigerian assets to his private company....that is looting the country for personal gain.....as a sitting president |
50calibre: This is the problem with Nigerians, they poke their noses in other people's business. Who made Mr Rotimi a police or judge, or is he a council worker that feels the responsibility of keeping the streets clean falls on him, why not mind your business?Exactly! You spoke my mind 100% |

An idle Nigerian in a foreign land. Come back to your country and film policemen shooting and killing okada riders and bus drivers because of N20 bribe. Come back to Nigeria and films of Nigerian drivers driving against traffic and police men who urinate in the middle of the road in broad-day light |

When a couple of days ago I described Soludo as a desperate man and a disgrace to professionals (for a professor of his standing and a former CBN Governor), some people were attacking me. I cant imagine how a CBN governor for 5 years in a cpuntry like Nigeria should be so desperate for political power. I remember how he lobbied to be retained as CBN governor but failed, rushed to join a political thug like Uba for politics immediately after and then rigged or allowed himself to be rigged into the PDP primaries in 2008 before he was defeated at the polls. Now joined APGA, from APGA to PDM again.....Haba. A whole professor with so much desperation? |
GEJ is trying to deceive Nigerians. Remember how OBJ also deceived people with his useless conference that produced nothing. All is about Scheming for 2015 |
Tolexander: it was established in 1962OAU was conceptualised and built by the Western Region Government under Obafemi Awolowo.... |
Useless venture...giving money out to people wh do nothing but to be wandering and idling in the bush for 90 days or so. I wonder the value that this senseless ventures add to our values and virtues as a people. There are many young students and orphands who need a few thousands of naira scholarships to go to school but here we are with a company wasting such huge money on a so called winner for doing nothing for society. |
Mode9's comments is a subtle admission that further confirms what some people have been saying about Nigerian music scene in the last 3 years or so.....The effect of Ghanaian-style music on Nigerian music scence Just take a look at all the Nigerian rap musicians that are making waves now. Virtually of them have introduced a particular style of beat which makes their songs fast, danceable and good for both private listening and club jamz....The Azonto beat. Olamide was the first to catch on the Azonto rap, and the thing was a big hit. His ''Firts of All, Go Down Low'' and ''Stupid Love'' tracks are Azonto-styled and they pulled a lot of fans to him because the tracks make people dance all long.1 People just want to listen to something that would make them dance at occassions or clubs. It is not about how good your grammsr or lyrics are. Just make us dance. And Azonto beat is the big dance thing now and it is also fun. Everybody is doing it now (eventhough some fakers attempted to steal and rename it Alingo). Even Ruggedman has dumped his Mode9-style of rap and has joined the Azonto rap craze!....I saw a clip of his collabo with Terry G......the beats and rhythmns are just like a typical Ghanaian Azonto rap! Such easy and fun to dance songs or tracks will always be in demand at parties, club houses and radio stations. That is what is making Olamide and other musicians to be making waves. Just do a checklist of the rap and other former hiphop musicians that are using the Ghanaian azonto and hiplife beats.....they are the ones who are dominating the airwaves now. |

The fact that the word ''Afro'' denotes African does not mean every dick and harry musician that plays rubbish is afrobeat musician. Apart from Fela and his boys, if you want to know about Afro beat, then try and listen to people like Orlando Julius, George Akaeze, The Funkes as well as Osibisa, Uhuru Dance Band, & Ebo Taylor of Ghana Stop this irrtitation of calling any noise-maker an ''Afrobeat'' musician |
If these are what you call ''Afrobeat'' then you dont know much about evolution of music in Nigeria and W/Africa |

These guys dominated the whole of Africa in the 70s-early 80s and were the best known African band in Europe and beyond! They were the star attraction at the Festac 77 music show in Lagos. The band was formed originallyby Ghanaians based in UK/Europe in the 60s but later some Carribeans, Africans, especially Nigerians like Mike Odumosu joined them. The economic hardship and the Rawlings revolution(curfews, restriction of movements etc) in Ghana nearly killed the social life and most bands were badly affacted. Some memebers of Osibisa have died although some of them are still alive. They do occassional appearances but mostly for international events in Europe, America, Asia etc Their songs are evergreen and timeless! |
Let me start by stating that I am not a fan of Fashola. I dont like his style of governance whereby the poor masses are made to suffer unnecessarily. But our Igbo brothers need to learn how to play by the rules, regulations, tradition and culture of their HOSTS, anywhere they are. This is the kind of thing that could degenerate kinto violence in a hostile place like Kano. The Ladipo marketers/traders should know that they belong to the informal sector, where there is no limit to the number of associations that could be formed, depending on your leanings/ideology. However, the State Govt or Local Govt have the right to appoint or recognise, and pronounce which association or leader for the purpose of relating or dealing with issues concerning the market based on the history of the market, as well as the tradition, culture and percuiliarities of the host community. The Igbo traders cannot dictate to Lagos state govt who the govt must recognise or appoint as head of the market, no matter how many Igbos in the market! You cant dictate to Kano state govt who the Kano stste govt must appoint or recognise as head of a particular market in Kano state. The best alternative is for the Igbo traders to select/appoint/elect their President of Igbo Traders Association(Ladipo Market Chapter) who may co-attend meetings with the Babaloja and act to protect or project the interests of Igbo traders. You cannot impose yourselves by force in things like this. Let us be real. There is no way Igbo people in the East would accept Yoruba people to impose themselves as leaders in any market in Igboland. There is a history, pattern and tradition of how market leaders emerge in Yorubaland. You cannot just wish that away just because you happen to be more in number in a particular market. Democracy has its boundaries! The Igbo should just take time to reflect deeper. People are beginning to see the tendency to want to defy the rules, history, tradition and culture of their hosts and impose themselves on the host community and have their way in their own style. For instance, many landlords are not wary of giving their apartments to Igbo people in Lagos. But it was not like that before. What happened? This is quite opposite to the Yoruba ideology of living in harmony with the tradition and rules of your hosts, whether in Kano or Jos or in foreign lands like Ghana, Togo, Benin etc. In Ghana for instance, Yoruba people had been there for over 100 years, living and doing business peacefully with full regard for the rules, regulations, culture and tradition of the Ghanaian people. The Ghanaian people and govt never had any cause to worry about the attitude and activities of Nigerian traders and businesssmen, right from their pre-independence days through the early 90s(except the general deportation of aliens in 1969 by the Busia govet). But the Ghanaian people and govt are now complaining about the attitude and activities of Nigerian traders and businessmen in the last couple of years! Ask yourselves why now? Let the Igbo guys have a person that would be co-attending meetings with the Babaloja and protect their interests. It is enough honour to name the market after an Igbo man.....they should not go too far! |
omanzo02: Living in another territory without permit is illegal and an offence. My brother, it is not just about the permit. The real problem is the ATTITUDE and BEHAVIOUR of most Nigerians in foreign lands. Most Nigerians export our ''irresponsible, dubious, fraudulent, lack of discipline, I dont care, anything goes'' attitude to other countries, and that is what makes us obvious target for this kind of treatment. Very disgusting and shameful |
mikeansy: Very dumb post! You must be a legimitate dullard. Soludo is a disgrace to professionalism. I remember his role in rigging the PDP primaries for the 2010 elections. He was following Chris Uba, (a political thug)all over the place in a very shameful way. He was so desperate that he allowed himself to be used to rig an election. He allowed himself to be imposed. And that was barely a year after leaving the CBN as governor.....DESPERADO. Now, he has moved to APGA. Has he explanied why he left PDP? Or just because APGA is the party to beat in the SE? A professor of his calibre/standing should be exemplary in conduct...even if he wants to be a state governor |
slimghost: Either you are a kid or you are the dumbest person ever on Nairaland, no pun intended! So technocrats and professionals should leave politics for thugs and illiterates? The post-UME exams are un-necessary in the first place. Universities are supposed to admit students using a uniform standard like JAMB scores. Asking a poor student who resides in Lagos or Calabar to travel to a far place like Kano or Maiduguri to write another exam is stupid, risky and unfair! If universities must conduct a post-UME exams, then they must have the logistics to make students write the exams at their places of residence. In any case, universities do conduct semester exams. Why not continue to use JAMB results for admission, and then use the internal continuos assessments/semester exams to weed out students who are not qualified/competent? Ghanaian universites use only WAEC for their admission, yet they are ranked and rated better than Nigerian universities Post-UME is a fraud |
A desperate, shameless man! I cant imagine how a former CBN Governor, a professor in Economics can descend so low into the murky waters of Nigerian politics so soon after leaving the CBN. For God's sake, there are many global bodies like AfDB, World Bank, IMF, ECOWAS etc that this man can work for as consultant! His motivation must have been money and power the Nigerian way, not professionalism. No wonder he tolerated and even covered up a lot of shenanigans in the banking sector when he was CBN governor |
A clueless and confused govt. Instead of concentrating and find work to do in many criticial areas of people's lives, they are chasing after silly and senseless things....simply because they have misplaced priorities. |
Zidosky: Hurray, this is my first time of posting on nairaland and i'm making front page, dancing alingo, kukere, and personally all at once, lolWhat is Alingo? I know of Kukere and Azonto....! |
These NLC guys should shut up! Who begged or asked them to joing ASUU strike? When Nigerians were yearning and asking them to soldier on during the fuel strike in Jan 2012, the foolish NLC and TUC backed out. Now they are babbling. TRAITORS |
Nonsense! Who is this heartless Fashola deceiving! May be he is planning and thinking about how to start to use KAI to arrest those poor little kids and lock them inside ''Black Maria''....a vehicle that is meant for convited criminals. |
I appreciate your concern for doing better and the will to improve yourself. But here are my thoughts: 1. If you MUST sit for any professional Accounting certfication, then go for ACCA instead of ICAN. ACCA will give you better leverage and recognition, although it is more capital intensive 2. Dont be too sure of achieving a CFA in 3 years, although it may be possible. CFA is a hard nut to crack and accoding to the CFA Institute itslef, the average period it takes people to get qualified is about 4 years. The average pass rate is between 30-45% and people may write a particular level for years.(there are 3 levels) My Suggestion: Your 2.2 in Metallurgical & Material Engineering is not bad. What you need is to consolidate and improve with higher knowledge/qualification. If I were you, I would look for any of the new/emerging special fields in Engineering that are related to your course e.g MECHATRONICS, or NANO TECHNOLOGY etc. You can obtain Masters in this area(s) from a very good university in the UK within 1 year with an option for paid placement(temporary work). This would give you a bridge of knowlegdge in Mechanical and Electronic Engineering......giving you a very good edge in your Engineering field. You may then proceed to add an MBA in order to get a feel of Management and managerial expertise to apply in your professional career. My brother,Engineering qualifications are still the hottest and most sought after in the Nigerian job market....do a thorough analysis and you would realise what I am saying. MSc in Mechantonics will make you relevant in the 2 hottest Engineering fields...Mechanical and Electronics I am an Accountant by qaulification(although with good background in the sciences) but I am looking forward to get a degree/ certification in an Engineering/IT field one day. |
The so called Governor Dickson should shut up his mouth. Is he not the idiot who appointed Patience Jonathan as a Director in Bayelsa State Min of Education? How many meetings or official assignments has Patience Jonathan attended since her fooolish appointment? She is Ghost Worker No1 in Nigeria. If Dickson is serious, let him withdraw the appoinment of Patience Jonathan, then we will start taking him serious! |
It would be huge injustice to just retire him as a Major. The guy was arrested and detained during course of duty to the nation, as CSO to the president(whether civilian or not), was imprsioned for 15 years and now freed by a competent court of law. The best thing the Army should do is to make him seat and write for some fast-tracked promotion exams to assess his suitablity for promotion to the next rank(s). They can make him seat for a couple of tests and if he passes, he should be promoted to the next rank. A few years( 2 or 3 years) will be okay to make him seat for the acccumulated exams for his delayed promotions, and he can then be retired, maybe as a Brigadier or Colonel. Afterall, we have seen people given rapid promotion in service! We need to be fair to the guy. Fifteen years immprisonmnent is more than enough punishment! |
