maxwonder: If you were a bit less judgemental, you would have learnt that in this life, there is no such thing as "one size fits all"...some have been duped, where's d pleasure in being duped??..some actually lost all they had due to variuos reasons ranging from fire, insecurity etc..do u think if u have a mansion in sambisa and your life js at stake, u wont run leaving it behind??..besides that poverty is more of a state of mind, than d inability to accumulate wealth..someone may present themself as improversihed and be executing big plans waiting for the right time, some have tried and keep trying on a daily and while things haven't gone their way yet it doesn't mean it wont go there way sometimes later...take a chill pill man..i guess you have read too much motivational books and you think life is just black and white, sorry to disappoint you but mosy people actually live inthe gray area...i can't even start mentioning other things inability to secure a job, or people who have had to use all they had to treat a loved one, or bad governmental policies, or even small things such as unavaibility of sophisticated tools for carrying out their job, thereby producing less than the demand and people who have the bjg guns monopolize it and push them out of the business..the list is endless..just tryvto ask a few questions b4 u wrongly pass judgement..even you who think you have can go broke tomorrow.. If you didn't understand my explanations to those who commented above you, then I doubt you will understand it now. That's why I will choose to ignore what you wrote. It's easier that way. |

adexpa: I agree with the op and also share views with others comments but success is a product of many obstacles and challenges, it requires falling n rising, it is not for go safe people. Amidst all odds, you still need to pick yourself, we agree that govt policies and others do affect things but the real successful people never allow such to enter them. Success is an orchestrated journey with well documented plans and processes that requires diligent follow up. Many people get carried away when their businesses start giving returns and neglect future factors that may possibly affect their business, many of them start pushing their incomes into liabilities such as buying cars, building houses both in villages n their residences. People who sustain businesses lives a frugal lifestyles at the base of their businesses, they live simple, they look for other opportunities hungrily in order to diversify. Glad you see things my way |

Komu1048: This is how they come up with submission without even doing research. Well, I made my research and found it trueKomu1048: So someone those that are once rich and now poor nko. It’s their choice too, that fire engulf their properties, it’s their choice that they lost everything to tribal war, like the case of civil war. Many circumstances can make people poor. These are your own words not mine. I never generalised Komu1048: And you, don’t think because you have few naira inside your account you should glory on the poor. Because sickness can wipe everything away within a year. So stay humble This is your own conspiracy theory against me, not actuality and I should say, it is nothing but a poor way to defend your point |

So technically, we're saying the same thing. |

Polynek: Am only giving you this piece of example, 4 you to know that not all the poor people are the cause of their condition. The example say's it all. So don't conclude that all poor people are the cause of their problem. Also some government policies. are also involved Okay, I was very clear in the post. I said AT LEAST ONE THIRD OF THEM. Only fools generalise. |

PRETTYPRINCES: This is very thoughtful and I very much agree with your stated factor. I know people who use to earn relatively a good living until all kinds of policy summersault in this administration turned their lives for the worse at least for the moment. It wasn't their own doing.
Example was the closure of boaders. It had negative impact on some families. Shit happens |

Polynek: In my own opinion, Some poor people are not the cause of their predicament or problem. For example my uncle was a prosperous bixnex man. Until His shop got burnt by fire caused by His neighbour. Right now He is living from hand to mouth Then it is right to say he is broke. He was broken down by that incident but his level of determination and persistence will determine if he will be destroyed by it. If he does gets destroyed, then and only then can he be termed poor. My sincerest symphaties to him by the way.
I'm open to debunking. |

Redoil: do you understand what policy somersault is and the negative effect it have on people It breaks some people down but it only destroys the weak minded and the comfort seekers. Our destiny is not in Buhari's or any gorvernor's hands. It is in ours and we decide what to do with it. People who tend to seek pleasure foremost are the poorest and people who are quick to blame others for their problems are the feeble-minded. |

do you know how many house hold buhari policy has thrown into poverty People who are energy filled, determined and persistent require less from buhari to succeed. Energy and persistence conquers all things. |

As it happens, we will always have the poor around us due to diverse reasons given by circumstances, mishaps and sometimes choices. I intend to dwell on the third.
Some poor people are poor by their own choice, poor by their own doing and not really by circumstances, at least about 45%, about one third of them. They're usually the very architects of their own misfortune.
Why am I saying this?
It's because some poor people today love pleasure too much and people who love pleasure excessively will not go far in life. It's just that.
Whoever gives his/her days to pleasure, who loves and seeks enjoyment first will forever remain in the congregation of the poor.
If you're a guy or lady, reduce the rate at which you please yourself and invest more in yourself for your future happiness. Time is everything and shouldn't be wasted on temporary enjoyment.
Use the time you have now to establish yourself or else...
Well, I'm just saying what you already know...

gaius01: Senior man, you are misunderstanding her, her last statement was. " Please I need advise on how not to show this guy that I like him too much. " I'm aware sir but I don't subscribe to it. One shouldn't pretend in such a situation in order to attract the right person. By the way, her doing those things i mentioned will not make her look cheap rather will make her more attractive and potentially valued. |

For a start
- Be attractive - Maintain eye contact with him - Be yourself and don't smile too much - Try to be fun and exciting. Don't act dull - Be humble and feminine - Show initiative in your conversation - and the most important, don't demand for money. Let him give you from his own will
But be calm and keep the butterflies in your stomach under control |

Slimslimqq: 2women? children? are u sure u read the post very well? I have just one babymama and a kid. yet thanks for d advice See for yourself. Babymama, wife? Slimslimqq: this life get money oo, he get why...
since there's no job yet and there are a lot of expenses and debts almost (200k) I pay 6k every Friday to lapo mfb which will end by march ending. the business I borrowed the money for burgled last year, everything inside was stolen, and also I have till February ending to pay another 45k to someone from nairaland I also borrowed from for my babymamaschool fees or else I don't know what will happen to me cus he's already threatening me, and next month ending another 80k must be paid to someone who borrowed my wife money for her business. so all together 200k must be paid by march ending.
from the look of things, I cant meet up because I don't have a job yet, so I had to man up and start doing a conductor, though once in a while that is whenever I am called by my oga(driver).
so yesterday I was called to work by d driver, from mushin to idumota. so we dropped our passengers @ idumota, meanwhile my oga bus has been showing some fault, he said he will manage to go another round back to mushin so that he can pay me off for today, before he calls on mechanic to check the problem. after calling passengers into the bus, after several hours of waiting, the bus refused to start. then the driver had to tell everyone to enter the next bus, meanwhile the next bus was almost full. so there was this particular woman who boarded our bus, and I think she was in a hurry because her car also broke down, so she had to leave it behind for her driver.
so this woman got angry because the next bus was filled up and she will have to wait for another bus to full before she moves, so this woman started hurling abusive words at the driver(my oga) meanwhile this man is old enough to be her grandfather.
then I couldn't be standing and watching her insult the old man, I begged her to calm down that I will make sure I get her a taxi just to compensate her for wasting her time(I spoke to her in English). I never knew I opened the door for insult into my life. I was embarrassed and ridiculed by this woman because I am looking for my daily bread. I cried sotay everybody passing by started filling pity for me and begging me. here are what she said below.
"See this foolish thing telling me that he will get me a taxi, he's even speaking English, where did u see money to go to school? so u want me to know that u are learned abi? your generation has failed and u are also failing and u are not ashamed. ur mates are in school studying, some have graduated, and some have traveled abroad for their masters and u are here doing conductor, u are telling me u will get a taxi. I will feed ur generation, a good looking mofo, even my dogs will feed u, a failed human, u can never succeed"..
she even said some in Yoruba, I can't type the Yoruba words so I won't mix things up. all those words she said are still singing in my brain, am not sure I can take it off my brain. she said things in Yoruba that will forever haunt me, mentally I am not stable again.
I only offered to help her with a taxi since we delayed her, but I got the all these? I have been indoor since I got home yesterday. I am just ashamed of myself, I dunno why.
pls what wrong have I done here?
what other jobs can i do to atleast save and pay my debts? especially this one I will pay in February ending?
depression is taking a toll.. the embarrassment was a mad one |

Whatever you do, good or bad, people will always have something negative to say so don't let it occupy your mind.
But op, you didn't really start your life on a good foundation. How can you tie yourself down with so much responsibilities while still struggling? Sometimes it isn't always the government who is responsible for our poverty. It is hard to fly when something is weighing you down. You've weighed yourself down with a child and wife who probably will be entitled to your earnings unquestionably not to speak of the debts incurred.
You seem to love pleasure too much and that has made you not to achieve much. Change your mentality towards life and pay attention to helpful books more than people's negative statements.
No offense, it has to be said. |

Don't compromise on your values.
Compromising means softening boundaries and giving into childish complaints - this makes your job tougher in future.
And she'll hate you for this in the end if you do it, but that won't stop her trying to get you to do it anyway.
Be unwinnable. |
