busolayemi: Sumtyms I wonda aw dis men cope b4 dey got married...its ppl like dem dat kip a dirty room nd patronize mama bash's stupidly prepared meal...gosh!
many bachelors can cook and clean their home before marriage plus mama bash food is not stupidly prepared.

truth is things like good sex and good food and no longer the prerogative of married men.
CrimeRe: Acid Attack On 20-Year-old Woman In London by monex(m): 2:49pm On Feb 05, 2013
BetaThings: Why are you quoting extreme examples?
If you go to those communities, you have to respect their rights
But when people live together you have to allow people freedom so long as you are not affected by their tradition
Stripping people of their identity is not fair or progress
A frenchman argued that the niqab does not allow him see the face of a woman while she can see his. So he is victmised
Is that a rational argument?
First of all, are you suggesting that muslims should all go to their religious bases to wear their hijabs and niqabs? huh
second, freedom comes with consequences. Sometimes, freedom has to be curtailed for the common good.
thirdly, Stopping people from wearing a niqab (the one that covers the whole face is a niqab) does not strip them of their identity, but makes their 'identity' visible to everyone!
Also, yes it is a rational argument. The man is victimised! I would be threatened if I can't tell who I'm speaking with.If a person wearing a niqab is crazy how would you know? You won't until the person starts dislaying, and may get hurt because you didn't know. Or what if it is a sick joke by a gay person who uses the opportunity to molest you? How would you report the case? Admit it, when you cannot see who you are talking to, the person has power over you- the power of surprise! If moslem women wear hijab, we can all appreciate their religious views, but when they are completely covered in a niqab, all many people feel is threatened and unsure.

Now for those people who keep saying that banning the niqab is not the solution to the problem of crime, it is true, it is not. But banning all complete face covering even when it is in celebration as a masquerade, then we can at least rob the perpetrators of these kinds of crime of their hiding place. Besides not only muslims cover all their bodies as a religious belief. Some catholic nun congregations do too, but they never come out, anyway, so they are not a problem.
PoliticsRe: 40% Of Nigerians Lack Access To Food, Says Don by monex(m): 2:35pm On Feb 05, 2013
toluene12: i know thats the problem, we believe malnutrition is synonymous with war, somalia, dafur, refugee camps, an hunger infested child with a pathetic figure and a vulture nearby to prey on the child ones he's abandoned.
Undernutrition has grades, the one highlighted above is the rare extreme. And besides, poverty and food insecurity not war are the commonest cause undernutrition worldwide.
Now, concerning rural areas. I agree they seldom have issues with food quantity, but how about quality? Inadequacy of the latter is poor meal and such people will definitely will have problems with kwashiokor and marasmus. And that to me is inadequate access to food.
Besides those bush meat, snails and cat fish(eja odo) dont come cheap u know, they are quite expensive.
Because, although they rear these animals, they prefer to sell it to those urban people who don't rear them so that they can use the money to send their children to the scarce and increasingly expensive schools, or to maintain their homes, or to pay the extra costs of transportation with bad roads and no fuel. so we are back to the real problem-poverty!
They have access to these foods, cos they grow them, but they are so poor that rather than eat it, they prefer to sell it!

CrimeRe: Acid Attack On 20-Year-old Woman In London by monex(m): 1:41pm On Feb 05, 2013
la furia: you think the attack wont still be carried out if niqab is banned? niqab covers the face while the hijab doesnt covers the face, so which one are you asking to be banned? the britain would have ban the use of niqab if they wanted, but they need reasons and not just because they dislike for it, yes u cant see their faces in public but britain are not having issues with them or have you had one before?. are people frequently commiting crime wearing the niqab nw?. is britain having security issues with those wearing niqab? do the stats, how many crimes do people commit wearing niqab? very rare and you want to ban it for security reasons rght, does it even make sense.

so y call for a ban, they do so under religious freedom and they are few in britain, its like 1 in a 100 or more,. u are asking it to be banned but till date the british havent banned hoodies which have been use to commit crimes. people wore hodies during london riot to break into stores and commit street crimes, yet no one calls for hoodies ban.

in france they ban the niqab or burqa not because of criminal activities, but due what they call social hindrance in communication within the society and they say it encroaches on individual freedoms and fear of 9/11 or 7/7 even though no report of the criminals wearing niqab.

@topic, it is in this case i always believe an eye for an eye should be carried out. whoever commited the crime should be bathed with concentrated 98% H2SO4 or HF a
Don't get touchy, pls. This is a matter of security here. While the practice of modesty and decency is welcome, being so invisible as to make a person unable to tell if it is a man or a woman they are seeing is not good for security agents. We all agree that witnessing helps a lot to solve cases, right? And sometimes, a nose shape, or a funny ear, or lips or whatever can help a victim identify the attacker. Eyes can be changed with contact lenses, so they are no proof. What the poster was saying was that the niqab is a sort of clothing that covers too much such that the person is not even visible and this is not good when it comes to identifying criminals. it also breeds distrust. If I can't see you, but you can see me, i feel more vulnerable. you can link my name to my face, but i can't do the same for you when i only see a niqab. I'll never know who spoke to me or where the person was really from cos i can't tell the tribe when i don't see the face. if you will set aside your fear of having someone insult your beliefs, you will see that the niqab as you call it, is not the best for public use. smiley
PoliticsRe: Farouk, Emenalo Reject Prison Food by monex(m): 1:21pm On Feb 05, 2013
Interesting! I think that he should NOT be given any preferences whatsoever. He is a lawmaker right? Well, let him see how people suffer because of the laws that have been made in Nigeria, and maybe when he comes out he'll try to change the crazy laws that put accused people in the same prison situations as convicted criminals tongue
As for Otedola, he may not go to jail on account of bribery cos he'll just say that he only did it to show the corruption of Lawal himself, and that that was why the notes were marked. simple.

anonimi: And so no discrimination or what exactly are you trying to say?

Darker skinned people are discriminated against worldwide including in Nigeria. Fair skinned people are always thought of (even by their darker skinned neighbours) as being somewhat superior.
Part of that is because the black people have contributed NOTHING to modern life.
Just look around you - how many of the things you wear, use were invented and continuously refined/improved by black people?
How many huh
That's because when we were discovered, we were ruled out before we even had a chance to show what we could do. and many of the things we did do, went to the glory of other people. We made tye and Dye, but where in the world do you hear us credited for it?

OkparaIgbo: Well I dont care if any Yoruba person said something or not. Am I not allowed to be proud of my heritage and it's achievement thereof? What's wrong with being proud of my people? huh Abeg leave that one joor and I know another reason why no Yoruba person said anything but that will be kept.
@ Andro well, the truth is that those comparisons are not like for like and therefore should not be made. Growing up, I used to think there was a Nigeria, but I have since learnt that the Yoruba's, the hausa's see themselves as that first before being Nigerians and coming from a tribe where we have been victims on so many occassions because we believed the mirage of "one Nigeria", I have swore that I am Igbo first and foremost before I can think of anyother affiliation and that I will pass on to my children and children's children that there was a country.! That is if Biafra doesn't come to be.. smiley
Oh, how righteous, coming from someone whose tribe was the first to give up on Nigeria and start a war! Bros, abeg leave that thing. Tribalism is just a broader form of selfishness. It will still be all about you even if you were a northerner. Tribal pride is not an excuse for treating others as inferior. angry

unless the guy also said no one died then he would be correct. You can be involved in a fatal accident in which some other party (not yourself) died.

pDude: Why are Nigerians such local villagers huh huh

A lady did a very nice parody of runz girls on youtube as a joke, yet some villagers are swallowing everything she said and condemning her undecided. Some are even talking about pimples cry . Was the video about pimples huh

Chei! Some Nigerians cannot survive outside Nigeria. They dont even know the difference between fiction and reality.

Sometimes I feel so ashamed of my country people. cry
why don't nigerians read first and why do nigerians make negative hasty generalisations about nigerians.

You did not peruse the thread properly and concluded that the pimples and condemnation was about Molly (the lady on the video) whereas the pimples and condemnation was about nellyluv (a nairalander).

the best part of your write up is the "Oriaku" syndrome as you put it.

RomanceRe: If You Were Raped, Would You Have An Abortion? by monex(m): 11:12am On Nov 12, 2012
uj_sizzle: You're simply creating a scenario where the victim views abortion as murder. What if she doesn't? Maybe she sees it as a means to get rid of the 'visual' reminder of her misfortune.
Abortion only becomes an added issue for people who have morality issues probably brought about by religion, not everyone.

It is true that getting rid of the child does not in any way change what she's been through, but it does at least relieve her of the constant reminder. Going through therapy helps one come to terms with the problem, but sometimes staring the product of said event in the face daily or having to spend 9mths of ur life carrying a child you never wanted esp one gotten by such brutal means makes it difficult to move on.
i was waiting for someone to sy this. on point. it really is a question of morality. if the victim sees abortion as murder then she would be worse off aborting the child. but if she doesn't care (a lot of peeps do abortion for the most flimsy of reasons) then the rape demon would be less potent as there would be no reminder.

personally, I am pro-life and would have zero-tolerance for abortion. but i am a neither a lady nor a doctor so it might never be my decision to make. I would never support my wife in such a decision sha.

the trauma for a man who is raped is actually worse than that of a woman. note i mean when the man is raped by a fellow man,

R.ape does a lot to the victims psych, having a constant reminder of the horror could slowly kill you in the absence of God's grace. I can't promise to love that child as i should, and I'll feel worse hating it for a crime it didn't commit than killing it in the first place.
