securi:
Little things get to our heads in this country. Lagos state govt doesn't have anythng to do with this, it is purely initiatives of corporate organisations led by NB plc amd Fashola is just invited as the Gov to light it up and be part of it. So e-supporters of APC and PDP pls stop the attack. This does not translate to any tangible development expected from any govt infact when I saw a more beautiful lighting and decoration @ Calabar and Uyo, l even condemed it as waste of resources, except for Calabar where the carnival will have some impact on d state economy due to influx of ppl there. We need more tangible development and not mere decorations that area boys will vandalise or steal before mid Jan. A little govt presence @ iyana ipaja, Ayobo, Egbeda, Ikotu will be a better christmas package for masses and not just mere decoration that will barely last for a month.
thanks for this piece.

even though i respect Fashola more than other Governors (he has anm unmatched personal desire fgor excellence) I would like to say this propagandas style of his Goverment (and possibly other APC states) leaves a bad taste.

I see this propaganda in Edo and Oyo too.

the good part is he personally never said the decorations were done by him

1. The real man pill
Some naija girls try to market and sell the “real man” to some poor unsuspecting dude, any dude that swallows this pill will immediately start acting like some robot, the “real man” is not supposed to do this and that, as prescribed by the particular naija girl you are dating.
Swallow this pill and you are doomed for life, suckered into the myth that all men are supposed to behave in some way, which is infact a bid to control you, you should be pitied more than juddas Iscariot.
The irony is that most of this girls have dated wimps in the past, broke up with them because he behaves like a puppet, meet you, fvkcs you to spite him and then tries AGAIN to turn you into the former BF by selling the pill to you.
Poor souls.
RED FLAG.....watch out for words like.....”your mates out there”....”real men are......” or trying to make you watch some romance movie or telemundo, then she ill hold up the characteristics of the main guy who is soooooo gentle, but beats his wife in real life and has had 40 divorces....watch at your own peril, if premership season is off, watch NBA, if its off season, plug your playstation, if none is available, give her the remote and take a nap.
Definition:"A Real Man" - A word that has absolutely no meaning whatsoever, save for being a pseudo-alias for some fantansies in a girl's head.
RomanceRe: Female Friend Zone!! by monex(m): 4:35pm On Dec 11, 2014
i fear i have.

my excuse is that there is no deception involved as she knows where she stands and that it would never be now or in the future.

we enjoy each others company and try to avoid intimacy (maybe deep intimacy).

the problem is that after sometime she starts falling in love and I start feeling guilty and doing my best to end it (sometimes making her feel i am mean and insensitive).

i would advise not to friendzone a lady as from my experience, she finally falls in love.

RomanceRe: Ladies How Does It Feel Dating A Shorter Guy? by monex(m): 1:11pm On Dec 02, 2014
two points to talk about:

1) The stereotype of short guys being domineering, stingy, possessive etc.

this is mostly false. even in cases where they/we show it, it is because taller peeps have taken them/us for granted cos of their small size. similarly, while height could bosst ones confidence, there a lot of other confidence boosting factors like looks, intellect, money etc. that height cannot be taken in isolation.

2) ladies are asking too much when they want tall guys

everyone has a right to desire whatever they want in a would-be spouse. stop beefing if u nor meet her criteria rather go find ur type. allow the laws of "demand & supply" to take care of unrealistic specifications. typically, and not just for ladies, as you grow >30, the specifications begin to drop. from desiring a kim k/beyonce --> Genevieve --> the teller at gtb --> just about any normal human being.

meanwhile short is usually a relative term. typically those taller than me are too tall and those shorter than me are too short. we like to think of ourselves as ideal.

RomanceRe: Disadvantages Of Being Nice To Women.. by monex(m): 7:12pm On Nov 25, 2014
when you are nice. i mean nice. you cannot be taken for granted because it is on your terms.

like andromida said, it is the fake nice so she would notice you that gets taken advantage of. you niceness is your personality not something u do to please women.

and yes, nice guys can be enigmatic. she hates the fact that it is not about her but about you. she realises that you would still be nice to her if she wasnt beautiful, sexy, intelligent (and the other desirable values). those features cannot be a bargaining chip. you are nice to her because you are a nice person. you expect nothing from her hence you cannot be taken advantage of.

FamilyRe: Whose Church Is The Family Church?? by monex(m): 6:59am On Nov 25, 2014
NobleG1:
It seems you actually don't comprehend what "Submission" means. Let me quote from the dictionary;
The action of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will or authority of another person.

Telling a woman to submissive to husband is offensive and abusive. It makes a woman look inferior in the marriage. As I said earlier on, marriage is a partnership relationship. Both of you are equal and one irrespective of the gender difference. None of them should submit to the other! Only your young children (ones you're taking care of), housemaid or a slave, etc. should be submissive to you!

The only good relationship between a man and woman, is one born out of mutual respect for each other. Sacrifice, compassion, love, and honor are virtues to which a relationship or marriage can thrive. "Submission" is just not the right word to describe, nor is it the right place for the woman to be - her role within a relationship with a man.

I have, in fact, seen two relationships turn abusive towards women whose husbands used this word, Submission, to justify their behavior.

Treat your wife the way you would expect her treat you, not like a slave. Respect and cherish her and she will do the same you.
NobleG i understand your point but thats the thing about religion & belief systems. they are larger than life itself.

Marriage equality and partnership is not a Xtian doctrine. we preach equality now because it is more "convenient". in Xtian doctrine, your roles are obligatory. husband love wife, wife submit to husband. each person's role is not conditional to the other party performing their roles. so if ur wife is not submissive and is evil, you are still obligated to love (love includes selfless sacrifice) her. similarly, even if your husband does not love you and cheats on you, you are obligated to submit (and yes, submmission includes yielding to his authority when there is a dispute) to him.

in a physically abusive relationship, the woman can leave him to avoid physical harm but she definitely cannot divorce him or remarry. i think physical abuse and adultery are the two conditions for separation (separation means not living with him/her. it doesnt give a license to sleep with or marry another person). Divorce does not exist in xtian doctrine.

"till death do us part" is not a statement to taken lightly.

nonetheless i still understand why equality is a safer standard. but like i said initially belief systems are larger than life itself.

I am Catholic by faith and really saw myself wedding in Catholic, unfortunately my man attends overcomers, and my mother in law stylishly told me she won't be happy for her only son to wed in Catholic and I am not prepared to wed in theirs, so I and my man dialogued and settled on a different church altogether. It's about communication, discussing issues before leaping, having a firm resolve before committing, cos if u don't like ur man's church, you might end up not going to church at al. And if u insists, trouble brews. Just talk it over with ur man before marriage biko
ur own is easier na. most men typically understand that there is a unwritten rule that the wedding must be done in the wife's church. u can convince wife family otherwise but they hold the aces. so if u had insisted on marrying in the catholic church, hubby's family could understand.

the OP's point is regarding the church wifey attends after the wedding. for me this is not so important and i am very ok with my wife attending her own church. the bigger issue is the church the kids will attend until they are say age 12. for me my kids should be baptized and attend my church (catholic). this for me is the contentious one.

some people do treat their maids bad too. especially underage maids.

that said, the maid shoulda transferred whatever aanger to her boss and not to an innocent toddler. the maid's wickedness is beyong humanity, even animals will not understand such. she should be locked up forever and made to watch that video every moment until her heart starts bleeding. it will bleed.

The moment you decided to have kids, you also decided to become selfless.Another life is at your mercy, nothing is too much or too little when it comes to kids....

We all at one point of our life have to make sacrifices...just choose right.Make do with what best for you.

Nevertheless,to each their own....
nice response. actually the moment you decided to get marry, you have chosen to make sacrifices as you dont own urself anymore. your life is shared. hitherto personal decisions become mutually agreed decisions.

while not blaming those who choose to work and have nannies care for their babies, i would also say we (men and women) should try to be more selfless for the family

I'm speculating, and so are you, but I believe that my speculation is more likely to be right due to the way that our people generally think.
i think the accepted rules of violence only permits violence to prevent violence. and care must be take to use the leasgt possible force to ensure prevention.

so no matter the verbal provocation, she shouldnt have slapped him. it would be the same thing if she was slapped. the guy will go. In nysc camp rules, if the guy had retaliated or if he was the first agrerssor, he would go too.

when i tell peeps that if a girl slaps me, i will report the issue to the police and sue for assault, they laugh at me for being a sissy/wussy but that is the kind of mentality we need to stop violence which is usually more directed towards women. you cannot act on provocation.
BusinessRe: Hausa Ajami/Arabic Inscriptions Removed From New N100 Note by monex(m): 6:23pm On Nov 17, 2014
Idrismusty97:
@bolded that is the point! Just because they aren't comfortable with the Arabic inscription doesn't means it should be removed. In the same currency all the other languages are written signifying the worth of the naira e.g Nàírà Méwàà, Naira Iri and Naira Goma. Notice both the Yorubas and Igbos write in Latin alphabet. If the Hausas preferred to write their language in Arabic alphabet why stop them?
was a referendum done to say Hausas prefer the arabic to hausa? will the berom, tiv, jukun man prefer arabic? i fear you are generalising o.

meanwhile, CBN/FG owes it to us, to give reasons why the arabic inscriptions were removed.

i think this is part of the bigger question of Arabic becoming an official language. The analogy with english doesnt hold cos english is our first official language and is not a christian language in any way. hebrew, latin yes. english no.

Daresh:
Is that your problem? That she dated other guys who used and dumped her? You clearly dont like her enough because if you did, you would jump at the chance to show it.
you seem to be missing the more important question:

does she love him or is she only back because others have left her and he is the only one available.

This is not a Guy-vs-ladies fight. would you encourage him to go into a relationship that may be one-sided to his disadvantage?

my advice is that he sticks to just being casual friends with her for sometime. She is still in the rebound phase at the moment and he wouldn't want to be used as rebound.

I also suggest that he does not have sex with her: for someone who liked her a lot before, sex could end up making him more connected and emotionally involved with her.

...but will guys ever listen

I wonder what he said to her to woo her.
Were they the same things he said to me?

I wonder what he said when he was about to cum.
"You're the sweetest woman I've ever had"
I know he said that to me too.

He must have complimented her beauty in ways he did to me.

Maybe lied too. "I'm single. Not married. Divorced. Just broke up". Anything to get her to relax and open up.
I like to feel that I'm the apple of my man's eye.

If he could forget how valuable he said I was,if he could discard my well being and feelings the moment he see another, then it means I'm not the woman I thought I was to him.

It will make me feel CHEAP.

It is not acceptable. Not even slightly acceptable.

I don't know what he'll feel if I cheat on him but I'm pretty sure it's akin to what I'll feel if he cheats on me.
will it be ok if he just paid a prostitute and said no "sweet nothings" to sleep with her

This simply implies that there is something special and dignifying about ths man that the world cannot comprehend!! So people of d world are on d look out for any small or trivial thing to use against ths very prestigeous man!!! But i have ths to say to d world- the man called Pst chris Oyak is way way too great to be dissuaded by scandal, allegations, abuses, name callings and all sort of thrash! As a matter of fact, he is immuned to all these and times like ths strengthen and fortify him, it caterpaults and skyrockets him to a greater level!!! Great things happen in his ministry so my dear nairalanders, we in christ Embassy welcome times like ths with our hands widely open cus we know how to deal with it and turn it for our good!!!! Why not sit back, tighten ur seat belt and hear what ths very saga will generate to!!! dont forget we know who we are! We always win!!!!
in as much as i disagree with the media propaganda against him, i worry about the cult of personality he seems to have built around himself as evidenced by your posts.

Even if he did it, it doesn't mean his ministry should fail as long as he repents of it. A friend said that "Any BLW member who leaves the church because of this scandal is probably one those who regarded him as a god in the first place".

IMO, We don't lose our humanity by being Christians. The grace of God helps us achieve victory over the -ve sides of our humanity.
