Whilst this is welcome news, lest we forget that this was the same case when we had the Oil boom. If you dont manage your affairs properly we are unlikely to see the benefits or feel the impact. Nigeria has been enjoying relative oil boom with high oil prices, how has that interpretted to better services and life for the average Nigerian. We must not get distracted by this, but first focus on getting the right leadership in place with the vision to maximise the prospective potentials of this new said Economy. Some might argue that GEJ is not the man |
If only we can stop being to sentimental, and allow our heads rather than our hearts rule us. Why is it so difficult for people to understand it is not about being against GEJ, neither is it about supporting IBB (Which I dont, and I think too many people are giving unnecessary attention to him), it is all about thinking and choosing the right candidate, which by the way is not in PDP. Nigerians have other options and should stop being Politically lazy, we are hoping that freedom and true democracy will be giving to us for free. Nigerians have to go our there are earn it. In my opinion anyone who backs GEJ is being politically lazy and not maximizing their options. Just forget IBB, he is a deadender, fighting for political scraps and relevance |
remarkable. I wish him well |
@Kobojunkie, True, Buhari represents some sort of change, But dont forget that he was able to make great stride the last time because of millitary rule. Things are different now, I doubt he would be able to do it again, and besides there are other good candidates in other small parties as well, who I think would offer a better experience than Buhari. I know you have not been over impressed with Pat Utomi, but the mans credentials speaks for him. Dont forget the power of the address book (who can you get to come to the party). Pat has immense connections that I know will benefit Nigeria. He has the reputation to attract the best hands to move Nigeria in gaint strides, if only we give him a chance , I am convinced he can get the best people to do the critical jobs. |
@Kobojunkie, Though I recognise Buhari's uprightness and purity, for want of a word, and I do partially support him. He really does not represent the change Nigeria really needs. There is too much ill history with that man. We must rid ourselves of the past |
@Mikeansy Jonathan has a history of playing politics with everything and putting politics first and National Interest second. Any fair minded folk knows this. It is unfortunate that some of GEJ's detractors up North are not guided by National Interest either. But the fact remains that mediocrity is mediocrity whether it comes in the form of an Ijaw man, Igbo man, Fulani Man or Yoruba man. After 50years of failure we should all learn to place our sentiments aside and demand the best. The Best I am talking about is not IBB, Buhari, Atiku nor Gusau. We deserve better than all this ridiculus bunch and Jonathan is not far from the rest. You summarised it well. Nigerians must learn to put sentiments aside and do whats best for the country. We must be selfless, Nigeria as a country really need all of us to be selfless for her to grow. This has nothing to do with where one comes from, what is so bad in demanding the best for the country, even if there is an overwhelming desire for the ND's to produce the next leader, can we honestly say that GEJ is the best we can produce? If we do, we stare the Niger Deltan people in the face and insult them. There is no way we can look at the vast pool of intelligent capable potential leaders in the ND and say GEJ is the best we can come up with. |
@Orinkila, Well written, with very clear points. I am glad people still feel the passion to say the right thing regardless of sentiments. But like the saying goes, "saying is one thing, doing is another". |
If IBB did not give the police enough time before the rally, them no problem, but if he did, then this is wrong. Ibb might be terrible, but we must act in the true spirit of democracy, which means freedom. |
did I not say it, this guy is really the dullest tool in the box. Why did he not stop it before they spent it. Same will happen with the Voters register |
But do they not all belong to the same party? I really hope this is the end of PDP as an entity. All they have represented in the country is evil. If GEJ wants to be taken seriously he should decamp. As long as he remains in that party, he is stained good |
You guys should not worry yourselfs, IBB is just a deadender and will not win. Nigerians should channel thier energy into picking a credible and worth leader. We have so much potentials in other candidates than those that eminate from PDP. Broaden your horizons, let us stop being politically lazy. |
Hmm, this is just too much. Confusion everywhere. So who really did it? |
I hope this isnt too late, but very welcome news. They should team up together and kick pdp out. |
The post should really read "This is your chance Nigerians". Good governace should affect the lives of all Nigerians, this is an opportunity for nigerians to choose right the the choice doesnt have to be GEJ. Whats wrong with Pat Utomi, Donald Duke (both Niger Dletans), Ribadu, Soyinka, Buhari. IBB is a deadender and can safely be discarded. Lets not put all our eggs in one basket. GEJ is not better than the candidates above |
@Ibime Silly commentary by Paddylo, First of all on "if Ijaw blow their chance", Okah is not Ijaw. Secondly, Niger Delta hopes do not lie in Presidency, but in federalism and land rights, issues that Jonathan completely failed to even articulate so far. I may be in minority in Niger Delta by not being a fan of GEJ, but trust that if his previous record is anything to go by, I would rather not have such a man represent my region on National stage. PDP has nothing good to offer Nigerians, much less Niger Delta. When next I am in PH I will buy your a beer. You captured my thoughts splendidly. You are not alone in your thinking. I am from ND, and I am not convinced that GEJ is the best we can muster. The man has shown total lack of understanding and leadership. For me it is not a case of just picking anyone, because some think it is our turn, no, For me it represents picking the right candidate for Nigeria as a whole even if that candidate is no from ND. The sooner we as Nigerians start thinking in that way the better for the country I think the problem here is that people are being lazy about choice, they should shop around, this idea that anyone who wins pdp primaries is going to end up being president, must be out on the back burner, we must learn to choose and choose right. Have a proper contest I say, What is wrong with other potentially good candidates, Dont we have Pat Utomi in the frame? what about Donald Duke, and these 2 guys not from ND, can we honestly say that GEJ is better than they are? Even Ribadu must be considered. |
@Beaf, My problem with you, is that when it is Goodluck, then it is right, but anyone else, then it is rumours. Please learn how to seperate emotions from proper reasoning, and please as grown up as you are dont resort to cheap insults when someone has a differing view from you |
@Beaf, All your insults dont mean a thing. The truth fill finally come out. As dem talk, "na fly wey no dey hear word dey follow deadbody enter grave". |
@Beaf, Give up, your blind loyalty is fast making you the butt joke of this forum. |
@Beaf, Just shut your Dirty mouth. MEND now equals IBB right? Your stupidity is going to land you in a lot of trouble |
IBB should just go and rest. He spent 9yrs in the top job and did absolutely nothing (besides thief the country dry). |
Sorry oh, but where did PJ get the money to distribute rice? or has the government got a public rice distribution programme? Is this how you help the poor, by feeding them for a day? or do you teach them and provide assistance so they can feed themselves. PJ actions were totally irresponsible, and my big concern is were she got the money to start sharing rice |
Aisha2, Happy Birthday my sister. I owe you one gulder. Thanks for all the excellent work you do. We wish you long life, and God's protection |
@Abagworo, Above everything else never doubt the guilt of Ibori. That man is a big Thief, and I can confidently tell you there is no false claims against him. |
Well, i think it is much too early to be speculating but if true and there is cedible evidence then whoever is responsible must be tried, and if found guilty the Law must take its course. Gone are the days when we shy away from doing the right thing for fear of war or uprising. In my opinion nothing will happen. |
But hang on, these were the same police that were given 5days notice before the bombing, now it has taken them just 2days to realise first it was mend, now its some phantom foreign based group, and yes guess what we even have names, which may be real ,but sounds made up to me. And to top it up we have a junkyard dog barking at anyone who raises an eyebrow. Phew what a country. |
@Beaf, I did not insult you when i made my comment. I think you are begining to show the kind of low life you are. That you cannot respond to someones post without passing some sort of stupid childish, backstreet alley comments, but I am not suprised. You represent the typical thrash that constantly comes from the GJ camp. Well done |
sorry oh, but these sound like made up names. By the way I getting very confused about this whole thing. Did GJ not say at sometime that Mend were responsible, now it is a group based abroad, not quite sure what we should believe. But make we dey look |
I think people are fast understanding were you guys stand with this your clueless brother. I am glad for the Nigerian people that his lack of all qualities of note are coming out. Nigerians would do themselves right by shining thier eyes, and remember that the days of garri and rice politics are truly over. |
@Beaf, Stop behaving like a spoilt brat. What is this accusing anyone who challenges your brother of bein tribalistic and racial. Can people not honestly dislike his stiyle of government without hate for his tribe? honestly you really need to group up, you are doing a very bad job for your master with your contact tribalistic chant, me I don tire |
@Beaf, why do you think the only options Nigerians are left with are either your uncle or IBB. Whats wrong with Ribadu or Buhari, or Utomi? Your uncle and his friend IBB belong to the devils party PDP (Popular Devils Party) |
Nope, same difference |
