It was hell for passengers plying the East- West road on Monday as protesting ex-militants barricaded the Mbiama Bridge. The action of the ex-militants got thousands of passengers plying the road stranded as they watched helplessly as the ex-militants chanted war songs.

According to eye-witnesses accounts, the ex-militants numbering about 200, and drawn from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States had invaded the East-West Road as early as 6.am, where they impounded twbBridge from both ends.
The protesters also got some disused tyres and made bonfire on the road chanting war songs to discredit the Federal Government.

The ex-militants who said they were tired of empty promises from the Federal Government confessed they were the ones that invaded Abuja a few months ago to complain about their exclusion from the amnesty exercise.
One of those who spoke on behalf of the ex-militants, Chris Etemo explained that after the invasion of Abuja to air their grievances they were given assurances that they would be absorbed and their allowances paid in arrears.

He said they had to resort to this action because they were tired of waiting as it became clear that the Federal Government had no plans for them. He berated President Goodluck Jonathan and the amnesty committee for neglecting them, adding that when lPresident Umar Yar’ Adua was alive, they were adequately catered for.
Etemo said it was only the absorption of the remaining ex-militants and the payment of all the money owed them that would assuage their feelings. He hinted that they would continue to foment trouble.

After waiting for several hours with the Police unable to persuade the boys to leave, the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) General Charles Osas Omoriege appeared on the scene with some soldiers. While the boys had expected an open confrontation, Omoriege rather chose to appeal to them to remove the barricade and opt for dialogue to seek a way out of their predicament.

After speaking with some of the boys for some minutes, the barricades were eventually removed and the soldiers were able to coordinate the traffic to return normalcy to the area. A source at the JTF said the commander is likely to met with the leaders of the group so as to know their exact problems and look for ways to address it.

@ Invisible

Na lie! How can you steal 20 billion and be unhappy? He can afford to sleep with Janevieve and Omotola while Basketmouth entertains in his house with Tuface for the next 10 years! Lol!!!

You would be shocked. Did you know that Ibori's wife was with another man, during his time as governor? There is no way that can please any man. The news was everywhere.

Go an ask about the shameful things and life styles these people live. Lacking in total morality.

The was once a big time politician, who had a beautiful wife, very fine woman. It so happened that the mans Nephew was my good friend so we got to sleep in Uncles house from time to time. Do you know that when the man is away, one young doctor used to come and pick the beautiful wife and services her till day break. I ask him why, and he said dont mind her, she is like that.

The story plenty, but just a glimpse into the terrible life style they have, that anyone with an ounce of dignity would not long for. It is not all about Money
PoliticsRe: How Does The Thieving Of Corrupt Nigerians Affect Their Kids? by monkeyleg: 3:57pm On Nov 09, 2010
A man who would steal a stick of ciga from mallam, calling it a prank is likely to defraud the state. It all starts with those innocent pranks that soon trun into full blown theft.

I often argue, that if Ibori was not defrauding the state and killing people, he would probabaly have been the leader of a highway robbery gang. Go and ask about him, he has been a person from childhood who has been upto no good.

But there is a sad side to all this, check out their houses, most live in misery. They might have all that ill gotten wealth, but no happiness.

PoliticsRe: Should The Nigerian Civil War Be Remembered? by monkeyleg(op): 9:36pm On Nov 08, 2010
Not really, but it is part of our history and there are lessons to be learnt

We must discuss it, let our kids and our kids kids, know what happened about 40yrs ago. Over 2million Nigerians lost thier lives, it is not one of those issues that can be swept under the carpet. It must be brought out for everyone to know the truth no matter how painful it is.

I say this, because all the significant moments in the history of this country has been barnished. We dont talk about the slave trade, neither do we talk about the assasination of Murtala Mohammed, there is so much that has has happend that needs to be brought to nthe fore
PoliticsRe: How Does The Thieving Of Corrupt Nigerians Affect Their Kids? by monkeyleg: 9:19pm On Nov 08, 2010
@ola olabiy,

My vote counts not, because the vast majority of Nigerians are not prepared to do the right thing. We think freedom and good governance come for free. Nigerians need to learn how to earn things, and fight for our right. That why we are all on here discussion how big thieves are stealing your money and mine, and we can do absolutely nothing, but discuss how it affects the kids
PoliticsRe: How Does The Thieving Of Corrupt Nigerians Affect Their Kids? by monkeyleg: 9:13pm On Nov 08, 2010
It is good that we have all had personal experiences, and feel it right to share. In most of the post what I garther is need to set things straight. Not quite sure how we would go about claiming back what is rightfully every Nigerians, I think I will leave that might work to the Lord. But we can all do our little bit by voting the right people in. This nonsense cant go on forever. We must not allow it to be business as usual.

He is due in the UK on or around the end of Nov, I think 27th or 28th I will confirm and let you know. He is due to be attending a few lectures, I will give you full details when I have them ok. send me a PM and I will respond with all the details,

The reason I ask about the civil war, is that for such a big event in the history of Nigeria, it is never remembered or celebrated. If Nigeria was the west, it would be a yearly thing. Infact some of the evil that was pepertrated then would have been investigated and living culprits brought to book
PoliticsShould The Nigerian Civil War Be Remembered? by monkeyleg(op): 8:01pm On Nov 08, 2010
Listen guys, the civil war is part of our history, I wonder why it is never discussed, documentries or films not made. The uncomfortable truth mist be faced. we need to talk about it more, and those who died remembered

The kids had been sent to abroad by his thieveing dad to school while everyone else languished. Anyway he came up to me to introduce himself, and I bet bet you he didnt get the best of receptions from me.

PoliticsRe: Lam Warns Jonathan Over Plans To Shield Corrupt Governors. by monkeyleg: 2:52pm On Nov 08, 2010
@Gbawe,

You speak well, and his candidly come here several times to challenge this blind followship. We cannot afford to make the mistake of the past, the stakes are too high.

Let me put it this way, I have given up hope of seeing a good Nigeria, that will favour myself and Nigerians in general, but I must keep up the fight for my kids. I cannot be tried for they do not deserve to suffer the way a vast majority of Nigerians have.

The question I keep asking, what is so worng with picking the right people to lead us. Why would Nigerians, rather those who cheat and beat them, and eventually feed the scraps not even fit for dogs.

Wat is so wrong is saying that the President should not have spent so much buying new planes, So much on independence day celebration, on voters registeration, now on the entertainment industry.

Why is it so wrong for us to rightfully critizise the way he spends my money, it is my money and yours, yet we dont have claim to it.
PoliticsRe: Lam Warns Jonathan Over Plans To Shield Corrupt Governors. by monkeyleg: 2:06pm On Nov 08, 2010
My Brother let us watch.

We are making the same old mistakes over and over. Now I understand why some people have just giving up, shut thier mouths and just carry on with life.
TV/MoviesRe: This GEJ Sef: To Invest $200 Million In Film Industry? by monkeyleg: 12:35pm On Nov 08, 2010
We never change as a people. So oga give $200m to entertainment industry, we praise him. While there are more pressing issues in this country.

Its like a man who chooses to buy a game console rather than spend money on food, even when his family is dying of hunger. After all, my mates will say I belong. Misplaced priorities.

If you want to improve and grow Nigeria as a country, improve your educational system. Improve your transportation, not throw money at an industry that has managed itself well for all these years
TV/MoviesRe: This GEJ Sef: To Invest $200 Million In Film Industry? by monkeyleg: 9:09pm On Nov 07, 2010
@Chuks84,

My Brother, the entertainment industry is in far better shape than most other sectors in the country, infact I have often argued that the only sector that has moved forward somewhat is this industry. They are not strapped for cash.

Look at the Unity schools that used to be the pride and joy of this country, people struggled to get thier kids in there (rich or poor), for you were guaranteed some sort of good education. They are dead today, and this man is prepared to invest that sort of money or rubbish in my opinion.

I have ofetn argued in here that he is well cluesless, I am glad he is exposing himself well before the elections, so the wise amogst us can make well informed decisions and not be blindly led by Nyash lickers
TV/MoviesRe: This GEJ Sef: To Invest $200 Million In Film Industry? by monkeyleg: 9:04pm On Nov 07, 2010
@Beaf,

Priorities my friend, we have more pressing priorites. The Benin - ore road is the single most important road in this country. countless lives have been lost there, not to mention the total insecurity on that road. is it more important than investing in Nollywood? the answer is a Big Yes.

$200M  well spent on that road will transform it, and have far reaching consequences than this wasteful. What about $200m invested into our Unity schools, which used to be centres of excellence in our country.

Oga has got it very wrong again, and you are here trying to defend him. Well done

Nigeria has really not faced up to the global economic crisis. This is a real shame, but I saw it coming.

Look at property prices in Lagos, they are not correcting, even when countries like the UK, US, and most parts of Europe has corrected. This is so sad, because we really do not have employee protection in that country, they get rid of your for all sorts of reasons, while those senators and house of reps guys fleece the country.

Nigerians must really come out and fight for this election, if not we continue to have a government that doesnt function

Met and ex VP's daughter who did not know the price of a tuba of yam, then when I told her is was in excess of 80Naira, she scream and said it was a lie.

They are padded from reality, and dont need to care.

Also used to know and ex VP sons, who stole Thousands of Dollars from the father who hid it under the bed, came and spent it in school. They surround themslevs with people who are happy to play along and not ask questions.

Saying that I knew and ex-gov daughter who remains the most humble girl I have ever met. She did not exhude wealth, and there was a general consensus that her father was rather honest, but strict.

But the vast majority do not give a damn about you and I see it as thier time to chop and quench, everyone else can go to hell

You guys are missing the point of this post. Ezeuche has acknowledge his failings and has duely apologised. That must be commended, that is a act which is lacking in the Nigerians society as a whole.

Perception remains a big problem in Nigeria, and most Nigerians are guilty of it including myself, we must work at understanding each other better.

I have an Igbo Friend who recently tried to rent a property in a highbrow area of modern day Lagos and was refused because he was Igbo by the Yoruba landlord. Should this really be allowed to happen in present day Nigeria, if we continue to preach one Nigeria.

So lest take it easy and see the positive side to this post.

Mazi Ezeuche, I celebrate your honestly, lets treat every individual as an individual not a tribe
