No it wont, but Nigerians are even worse by sitting down and doing nothing. The common man in Nigeria has a very bad deal. I have seen some very terrible things happen to the common man. I just couldnt help but remember the awful things that have happend in Jos in recent years. Those kids that were killed, will they ever get justice. Innocent lives lost over greed and wickedness. There is always bound to be some sort of reaction.

Now for those that subscribe to voting them out of office, Nigerians are not ready to do what it takes to put in people that can make the change necessary, we are still discussing how we vote PDP back into power.

@Edoyad,

My brother I have always agreed with you, and I will in this case. But it is hard to imagine that this sort of thing would never happen in a country that has had its people cheated and oppressed for so long. It so happpend that Jerry Rawlins took a different approach and butchered them all.

The leaders of our country have been toying with faith for far too long, and I am afraid at some point the strong amongst the ordinary man is likely to fight back, and this is what you get

@BlueTooth,
I was in Delta state during the last primaries, and elections.

We did not have primaries, Ibori impossed his brother on us, amd used very wicked means to suppress others. Please go and find out.Whilst I never support violence, Uduaghan and his Brother are finally bringing on untold revenge unto themselves.

It is no coincidence that Ibori and wife are currently being tried, and will end up in jail, disgraced. God no dey sleep, for all the innocent blood Ibori and his evil brother have spilt, God no dey sleep.

But I have been crying here for months on how useless that Uduaghan man is. Uduaghan and his Big Thief brother destroyed Delta state. The man is so wicked it is unbelieveable.

Infact I hear he does not give contracts out if he does not benefit.

Check this out. Asaba has street lights which are run by generators, now guess wo supplies the desiel for the generators @ 4m naira per week? yes you guessed it right, Uduaghans equaly ugly wife Roli.

@Brownteeth

monkeyleg, I never said GEJ and IBB are ideal for the job. They may have achieved their popularity through unworthy means, but the fact still remains that they are popular. A lot of Nigerians are troubled and hungry that the have no time to listen to pat utomi's rocket science explanation on how he intends to fix Nigeria's problems. They masses are more intrested to know what GEJ, IBB and buhari are up to cos of their popularity. Its an advantage.

If you are telling me that the Nigerian people after so many years of misrule are still taken in by hollow popularity, then let me be the first to say unreservedly. The Nigerian people then are damn stupid. If after so long of bread, garri, and rice politics, they can still believe in the likes of IBB and GEJ, then I am sorry we ate a stupid society.

And for those who advocate ditching beliefs to support popularity, you are just showing the typical Nigerian in us. Not prepared to work hard but want to drive nice car. You are not prepare to fight for a successful government, yet you all want a functioning system. Please wake up, things doin work like that in the real world, you need to put in the graft to enjoy any tangible benefits. Politicaly lazy people
PoliticsRe: Do Not Waste Your Votes Please by monkeyleg: 5:08pm On Nov 03, 2010
@Chosen 04,

My sister, I tire oh for this lazy politicing. I fought this same problem during the last election, and people insisted on Yar Adua. What is with this not voting for someone because you dont think they will win.

I think the basic problem here is people do not even have a clue. We are so politically lazy, we want freedom and good governance on a platter of gold. No hard work, and that is the basic mentallity of the common man in Nigeria, that is why they are not prepared to work hard to archieve success. This is the same principle of 419, kidnapping, corruption. Easy way out.

I have very clear reasons why I dont feel GEJ is suitable

1: He belongs to a party that has seriously damaged our country.
2: GEJ has shown that he does not have a clue
3: GEJ has shown that he very loose with my money, yes I own part of Nigeria's money like you
4: GEJ does not have the address book to call on very capable hands to implement the changes Nigeria desperately needs
PoliticsRe: Do Not Waste Your Votes Please by monkeyleg: 4:55pm On Nov 03, 2010
@Think you guys are missing the point.

So GEJ and IBB are popular, right? for what?

Now should I have for a candidate because his party and him stand for nothing, but they are popular for the wrong reasons. Nigerians really need to go and check themselves

IBB is popular because he is a crook, and Nigerians are prepared to vote for him regardless

GEJ is popular because he has been in office for about 6mths, squandered all the reserves, spent money carelessly, and yes in the process giving Nigerians scraps, while his uncultured wife runs around dashing rice.

OK and Pat is not popular because, though me might be best suited to the job, he says things that the predominatly uneducated Nigerians do not understand, so in other words it is not good for them.
PoliticsRe: Do Not Waste Your Votes Please by monkeyleg: 2:56pm On Nov 03, 2010
Really, So if I vote for Pat, I indirectly vote for IBB. How did you arrive at that conclusion? Why dont you get your family and friends to vote for Pat, that way we get someone in who really represents a change.

This political laziness is unbelievable. Do IBB and GEJ not belong to the same party? Or am I mistaken to believe that a party cannot have more than 1 flagbearer?

My Bro,

What a real shame. If all this woman has done is comit adultery, then I weep for her, and a society that believes in that. We all sin everyday, and are in no position to condemn others.
PoliticsRe: Do Not Waste Your Votes Please by monkeyleg: 1:43pm On Nov 03, 2010
Sorry to differ, but this just confirms my thoughts on the ordinary Nigerian, including some that claim they understand. So I shouldnt vote for Pat Utomi because he wont win, rather I should vote for the other 3 candidates who I dont believe in? This just smacks of Political Laziness.

You guys got to understand something, Freedom and good governance is not cheap, and doesnt happen by taking the route of least resistance, neither does it happen by chosing a leader that doesnt stand for anything, but is popular for nothing.

It might be useful to lcearly state why those 3 candidates appear popular to you guys

The German-based International Committee Against Stoning said Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is to be executed today.

"The authorities in Tehran have given the go-ahead to Tabriz prison for the execution of Iran stoning case," the group says on its website.

"It has been reported that she is to be executed this Wednesday, November 3."

Foreign Office minister Alistair Burt called Iran's charge d'affaires in London to ask if the report was accurate.

But the Tehran diplomat was unable to confirm or deny the claim, the Foreign Office said.

Mr Burt said in a statement: "I took the opportunity to remind him the UK Government would regard the execution of Ms Ashtiani as utterly unacceptable."

Ms Ashtiani's case has provoked a worldwide outcry with leading political and religious figures condemning her original sentence as medieval and barbaric.

Brazil, a close ally of Iran, has offered to give the 43-year-old mother of two asylum.

In September, officials said Ms Ashtiani's adultery conviction was under review, but she still faced a charge of being complicit in her husband's murder.

Iranian television had previously aired an interview with a woman it said was Ms Ashtiani admitting to a relationship with a man who then killed her husband.

The International Committee Against Stoning called the TV show "toxic propaganda".

The case has worsened relations between Iran and the West, already strained by a dispute over Tehran's nuclear programme.

According to Amnesty International, Iran is second only to China in the number of executions it carries out. It put to death at least 346 people in 2008

For my Nigerian Brothers and Sisters looking for more clue, this is the sort of reason you guys must make sure you dont vote PDP. There are other options out there. Please think clearly, PDP is full of nothing but Armed Robbers in Agbada and Nice suits. The party is beyond corrupt, I call it the Devils Pit.

Atiku deserves to be in Jail, me must be tried and found guilty. Dont forget that just last week he was donating 10M naira to flood victims, where do they get all this money from? The money belongs to you and I and they are spending it with impunity, and making us beg for scraps. The is a Bloody THIEF
PoliticsAftermath Of Visit: Jonathan Under Pressure, In A Fix Over Sylva by monkeyleg(op): 4:01pm On Oct 29, 2010
Written by Donald Ojogo, South-South Bureau Chief
Friday, 29 October 2010

Piqued by last Friday’s stoning of the Bayelsa State governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, at a civic reception in his honour in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, President Goodluck Jonathan is billed to meet with major stakeholders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the state this weekend in Abuja.

A source close to the presidency said the meeting, which is expected to be attended by Sylva, National Assembly members from the state, presidential aides, as well as other major stakeholders, was intended to find a lasting solution to the internal wrangling within the PDP in the state.

The exact date and time of the meeting are still under wraps, just as indications emerged that some principal stakeholders in the party had perfected arrangements to defect to another political party in protest against what the source called “the president’s dangerous silence.”

Although it could not be confirmed whether or not the president’s proposed parley with leaders of the party was a pre-emptive one to forestall mass defection of some notable leaders, Sylva was said to have left for Abuja on a peace mission to appease most of his ‘antagonists.’

But the state government denied that Sylva was on a peace mission, as it said the governor had gone to Abuja to thank the president for the three-day visit to the state.

However, the source confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune on condition of anonymity that last Friday’s incident was the high point of embarrassment any president could receive in his home state.

“It had never happened before that a sitting president would visit his state only for the governor to be booed in his presence and even stoned; it has never happened before. It shows the extent of the annoyance of the people against the administration in the state.

“It was a spontaneous reaction of the people because the so-called achievements the governor was reading to the audience were all half truths and the people knew this much. So, they could not contain their anger.

“If we have to deliver the state for the PDP, a lot must be done to salvage the situation because Nigeria is gradually growing to the extent that a sitting president could lose his state if the governor there is not performing; and from all indications, Bayelsa is moving in that direction.

“If Sylva is the one to fly the party’s ticket, then we are sure of losing the state to other parties because some of us have made up our minds to just move from the PDP to another party if only to prove that Bayelsa people have abandoned the Sylva-led administration in the state.

Ask yourself, what sort of business did atiku do to make that sort of money. Atiku before he went into politics was not successful business man in my reckoning.

He was a customs man turn VP, and quite frankly a bloody thief. I am so insenced about this whole thing, the man should be publicly stoned. Sorry that is how I feel.

Nigerians must wake up this comming elections, we must vote right and defend out votes oh. Simple Atiku belongs in jail

@Edoyad,

Though I appreciate you were only teasing, you must understand the sensitive nature of the security situation in Nigeria. I see people carelessly brandishing the word WAR. We must all understand that no matter how bad we think our country is, war must always remains the very last resort, and should not be on people lips. Nigeria has had her fair share of troubles, including a very bloody civil war which a lot of people are still recovering from.

I am delighted that our security operatives were in top of things

@Edoyad, please confirm that is the case. Any news stations carrying it?

Election is around the corner and it is customary that arms freely flow through the country, this might just be another case.

However, the ever decreasing state of security in that country needs to be arrested quickly by GEJ

@Invisible

But you can, count the number of Nigerians you know from any part of the world and tell me how many of them you can vouch for. Why do you think our embassies turn the blind eye when our people are mistreated. How many Nigerian official can come charging any airport security that insists of searching the undies of Nigerian female passengers. We stand aside and watch, afterall its true some of the time. Its really pitiable.

No I cannot make such a bold statement, and neither can you. Because you are I do not have the facts. If would be fools hardy to think that the circle of people you mix with is a total representation of our entire country, you would be far of from the truth. Neither am I blind to the bad dealings of our people, but that would never lead me to generalise. We must be careful when we make such sweeping comments, it gives and impression that either one is not informed, or generally lacks the wider intelligence. please this is not insulting you, just tp point out that no one is entitled to make such statements if they lack the facts to back them up.

Fopr instance I am a consultant lecturer, and I have a group of 30 close friends who I regularly meet up with. 90% of them are very successful doctors (Nigerians), the other 10% are highly successful IT consultants. Now how do you class this?

You cannot make any definitive pronouncements on the proportion of corrupt Nigerians in Diaspora. . . .you simply don't have the evidence to back it up.

Neither can the writer of this post. where did he get 85% from.
