Travel / Re: The Truth About Living Abroad by mpmp: 9:41pm On Dec 14, 2012 |
@ YOU ARE SO UNINFORMED. YOU ARE AN HE-GOAT if you think all you wrote was sound advise Dear all 99% of those screaming "you can make it in Nigeria" are total mental failures. They have gone abroad, couldn't make it and are now looking for an alibi: Nigeria. They are either of two categories: a) someone living outside Nigeria and telling you to go back to Nigeria because you can make it there, or b) someone living in Nigeria and telling you not to go abroad because you can make it in Nigeria Whenever you hear someone like that, please close your ears. They have no advise for themselves, talk less for you. Which is better: an environment where things are working or an environment where nothing works. ex: It is only in Nigeria where people actually pray to God for electricity. Over years, your psyche even changes to believe that electricity comes from God. Oh yes, can you make it in Nigeria? but you have to buy everything and be a little corrupt in the process: a) you buy your own water. Ive been living in Lagos since 2006 and govt water hasnt flowed out of my faucet once; I mean I dug my own well, bought my own pump, hired my own plumber, bought my own tank, etc....just to get water into my house. b) you buy your own security at home, on the road, at work, all around: coz the Nigerian police cannot even secure itself. We know the rest of the story. Get a mallam, give him some money and a sharp knife and tell him to watch your gates. c) between a car / public transport: well, I have a car and I have my own mechanic, I have my own road-safety officer and a contact in the army who gave me an army badge. I also have a couple of arial boys in each part of Lagos - just in case. You can continue with the list for every area of life and living, but can you tell me if such a life is normal? Isnt it better to pay taxes and live a normal life in a sane environment than live in a jungle called Nigeria with millions in the bank, millions that you dont feel safe about? and be watching your back 247 just because nothing works normally? Is there any rich man in Nigeria that can walk the streets comfortably?. Can the Dangote/Adenuga you have mentioned walk around as normal people? When last did either of them buy anything in Obalende? The financial resources Dangote/Adenuga spend to power their houses, business outlets, offices, etc is more than the yearly educational budgets of some African countries, and yet we happy about it. Even barrack Obama and his wife live more normal lives that some rich ppl in Nigeria. @ If you are a poor man in America, please remain poor, but NIGERIA IS DEFINITELY NOT THE BEST PLACE TO BE as far as sanity is concerned. And rather than talking about Nigeria, why not tell us how rich you can be living in some other African countries that import pure water from Nigeria. I bet, you could be a multibillionaire overthere coz their dollar exchange rate is higher than our naira. Yes, to be rich in America, you need a great idea, something nobody has ever done before, like an invention.......this should be the ideal Unfortunately, to be rich in Nigeria, you dont need a great idea, you dont even need a brain. You just need to know how to forge signatures, dupe a couple of people, and the money starts rolling in. Just make sure you have a brother in customs, another brother in the police, and another one in the army. Have a sister in the civil service and a couple of boys to do your bidding. Or you can work in a bank, cheat your employers and customers, deduct 1-naira from each account or sell your virginity for new customers; or you might not even do the cheating, you can just aid in the misappropriation of funds for your own small cut. After this you can begin selling plots of land that dont belong to you. Or launch a problem with some advertized services, knowing fully well you cannot provide any of them. How fast is your internet speed in America and how much do you pay for it per month. Check out a similar internet speed in Nigeria and its cost. Or you can carry a Bible or Koran and go preaching the good news, tell your listeners that God will provide them a jet before tomorrow morning, but they must empty their bank accounts into your offering bag. Or you could join politics, have a god father or mother in place, almost kill and roughen up a couple of people - coz the final aim is the money which begins to flow once you elect yourself. In conclusion, its easier to make it in Nigeria than in America. but you must leave sanity at home. Its people like you who end up decieving people seeking a better life. I just returned from a trip to europe-italy and I met with several refugees from Africa. An example was a sudanese guy who earned a PhD in nanotechnology, all on italian govt scholarship, after 7-years of arriving in Italy - despite the fact that he had refugee status. He completed a B.Sc, Msc and Phd all within 7years of his arrival. Presently, hes on a post-doc in the US. Thats what going abroad can do for you. Can any so called refugee in Nigeria achieve such a feat? how many refugees in Nigeria have such a hope, how many of them graduated from our Universities in the past 10years? Ok, forget the refugees, how about bonafide Nigerian youths? Is there any hope for them? Has the govt provided scholarships for its youth? talk less for refugees? I would tell anyone who wants to go abroad for study or to get a life to please make necessary enquiries and please go. So many destinies are ruined everyday in Nigeria, unfortunately we allow selfishness to have the better of us. Just in case you might wonder: Yes, I met Nigerians hussle-ing, doing 2-3 dignifying jobs, and making ends meet. They might not be rich because they live honestly and not flamboyantly, but they are moving ahead with their lives and families. And lastly, Mr , the point is not to just be rich, but to make your wealth in a legit way. Most people in the Nigerian society which are looked up to as being rich have skeletons in their cupboards, but we usually dont like talking about that either. 24 Likes 2 Shares |

Crime / Re: Serial Billionaire ‘Fraudster’ Remanded In Prison by mpmp: 10:02pm On Nov 27, 2012 |
The commission is accusing Mr. Ogunbambo, and his company, Adeline Investment Ltd., of fraudulently obtaining a credit facility of over N1.2bn from Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc in 2009. The credit facility was granted to Mr. Ogunbambo, after he forged bank statement of Guaranty Trust Bank and Bank PHB, in four tranches – N610m, N230m, N200m and N180m, according to the anti graft agency. When I read this kinda stories, I begin to wonder what kind of investigative training / certification people like the Nigerian Police, the EFCC, etc., all have. When Romeo and his organization presented a bank statement(forged or not) of N610 from GTB to Stanbic, didn't anybody in Stanbic think of verifying the authenticity of the document? or do they give such credit facilities in Cash over the counter? Is it possible to get such credit facilities without even the CBN being aware? Is the EFCC telling us that there aren't any inside men in both the GTB and Stanbic who consciously participated in the scam? where are their names? or perhaps they are sacred cows whose reputation would damage that of the banks? Can these kinda scams be perpetrated by ordinary nameless people? who are the political backers of these folks, and why aren't they standing trial too? And when someone comes to say: In the bank statements that helped facilitate the fraud, Mr. Ogunbambo claimed that he earns a monthly salary of N5.5m, with an additional N5m per month taking care of his housing allowance, the EFCC added. Isn't someone supposed to ask the man where his letter of employment is / what he did to earn N5.5m per month? If someone earns N5.5m per month, are we not supposed to ask for his tax certificate, at least for proof's sake? Bull! 2 Likes |

Foxy_Rebirth: I was going through the dictionary to check meaning of words while reading an exciting novel, it later occurred to me, if it is to be Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon that is to teach us simple proverbs and their meaning in school, how is it going to sound like, going by the way he murders vocabulary... Dear Foxy_Rebirth, It is not good to tell lies. I hope you know we all have google.com in front of us. Rather than tell us a bull- story about: 1) you reading an exciting novel, 2) whatever you wanted to occur to you that occurred to you - in your dreams, you could have just told us the truth: that you stumbled upon a website similar to the below, you did a copy paste and wanted to share with us whatever you read: http://www.english-zone.com/language/sayings.html http://www.philbrodieband.com/jokes_proverb-archive.htm http://www.astro.caltech.edu/~aam/fun/GRE_anyone By even coming here to say "I was able to come up with these ones and funny enough" is the definition of plagiarism. If you become a person of authority in Nigeria tomorrow, you would forge documents, cheat, and claim to be someone else. This is why anytime I hear that Nigerian youths are the hope of tomorrow, I silently reply "na lie" - coz the average youth out there is as bad as those on the leadership seats. No wonder "Nigeria is a great nation" is just a figure of speech. 3 Likes |

Vickiweezy: Its crazy when people say i hate illuminati, i'm not saying i love them but God said humans have no right to judge a fellow human, come to think of it are u a saint? Okay u say u hate illuminati. Chief Vickyweezy, Illuminati is not for people like you. You are looking for money and desperate at getting it. The illuminatis are not desperados. Some of them were born into it so they go there naturally. If you are interested in illuminati, its poverty that is driving you there, thats why I said its not for poor people. That said, what is $15billion? is that money? Is all that has been happening in Nigeria this year alone not worse than illuminati? How much have Nigeria's politicians stolen. Should we mention names. If illuminati membership was for sale, Im sure some folks in the National Assembly would be able to buy it. Illuminati is business. They will take you to the top of your career and you give them financial returns. Have they killed anybody that Boko haram has not killed? yet we have people in government, civilians on the street that have information about the whereabouts of these religious freaks and are keeping quiet. Has illuminati stolen any money that Nigerians have not stolen from "the national cake?" They even have a charity for "aid for Africa", and yet Africa has no aid for itself. Which is worse, illuminati singing songs and dancing whatever, entertaining people with like minds - or BH throwing a bomb at a couple of Christians praying. Some illuminati will enter Heaven before so many Nigerians. |
Culture / Re: Why Do Indians Burn Their Dead Bodies? by mpmp: 8:42pm On Aug 14, 2012 |
PAGAN 9JA: There is nothing wrong with burning / cremating dead bodies. In Naija, supersticious beliefs do not allow people to see past their noses. Its even better and safer for the environment as had been said. In Lagos for example, everywhere is a graveyard. Selfish landlords are buried in front of their selfish houses so that they maintain permanent ownership; and just on the opposite side of the fence of the adjacent house, there is a well of water and a sewage tank just feet apart. Unfortunately, the owner of the adjacent house manufactures pure water and zobo, By the time the worms finish off the dead body, they go for a dip in the sewage tank and a swim in the well; and everybody on the street is just drinking nonsense, calling on Jesus to come and heal all diseases. The time Fashola was clearing surulere, did anybody notice graveyards on the highway. Whether they were uprooted and covered up with TAR, only God knows. The same applies to the need for compulsory autopsies to be done on dead bodies. The idea that someone would just sleep, die and buried without proper investigation is wrong. One happened in my area before. After the first person died, another 2(his friends)-died within 3months. the next thing we heard was that other tenants were leaving. The point is, if the dead man died of a disease which was later contracted by the other two, the possibility that family members of the two recent deads could have contacted the same disease is very high. Now, just imagine how many new neighborhoods they will move into - thats how an epidemic starts. 1 Like |

Family / Re: Couples With Different Career Dreams by mpmp: 8:20pm On Aug 14, 2012 |
honeric01: I assume you read my post since you quoted it. Yes, Love is not automatic - but it takes two to tango and the bottom-line of the tango is understanding. There is absolutely nothing wrong with husband and wife pursuing different careers. In fact its better. The couple were entirely different people before marriage and they still remain unique individuals in wedlock. If the couple were supposed to pursue the same careers in life, they should have started life together, gone to the same schools, read the same courses in the university, worked in the same company, etc. The difference in choices, likes and dislikes is what makes the love go round. What if they met themselves in the same organization, were working in the same department and both continued working there after marriage. Are they pursuing the same career in your opinion? Who should step down for the other? Is it right for husband to talk his wife into resigning from work and set up a business for her selling clothes while he continues working. What was her elementary, secondary and University education for? I think its pure selfishness for men to think that their wives are supposed to suspend their careers after marriage, and it is the ultimate ignorance for wives to feel that after marriage, their man should do all the work while they tend to a business on the side. And this idea of men "setting up businesses for their wives" as a way to compensate them after they(husbands) forced their wives to quit their jobs after marriage / keep them busy is foundationally wrong. Doing business and succeeding in it is a thing of the mind and soul. If a woman isnt interested in "business", regardless of how much money her husband spends / the time they put into it, the biz wont go anywhere. Someone that is really business minded doesnt need a husband / wife to tell him/her what to do, where to source for funds, who to market to, how to market, where to start from, etc. A real business woman is a real business woman with or without her husband. The only women that their husbands should assist in their businesses are those women who have been doing the business in one way or the other before marriage; those who are interested in the business regardless of who comes or who goes, who encourages / supports them and who doesnt. |

Religion / Re: Re-must I Pay Tithe To Get To Heaven? by mpmp: 2:18pm On Aug 12, 2012 |
Nosa-Henry: My question to you is: whenever you get to that point where you feel that you as a person are a GOOD CHRISTIAN, you have seriously landed in error! Is there a bad Christian? You are a either a child of God or you are not. You cant be a bad child of God, coz God doesnt have any bad children. But at what point do we become Good? Only God can say. Perhaps when you die, stand before God and He welcomes you to Heaven. On the other hand, its not all those whom you see carrying big Bibles around that God considers His Children in the first place. And why should you be struggling receiving something that is freely given? If you struggle to sleep at night, you are sick. Why struggle to leave sin behind and embrace righteousness. Perhaps its not a stuggle afterall, its a lack of surrender. You are "struggling" coz you havent surrendered and you are highly responsible for your struggle. Its better you leave yourself in God's hand and see if He wont help you. He hasnt dissapointed anyone yet, so if He dissapoints you, you'll be the first. |
Religion / Re: Re-must I Pay Tithe To Get To Heaven? by mpmp: 2:08pm On Aug 12, 2012 |
pstbolanta: I was invited by a friend to his church last sunday, when the pastor started to preach,he kept on hammering on TITHING,that anyone that does not pay hios tithe will go to heaven and your tithe should not be you basic pay but total gross pay,you need to see the way he was stretching on it assive his life depended on it,i began to start feeling quilty of not paying instatntly, but i know i have some very reliable friends on nairaland to sample their opinion on this TITHING WAHALA,ARE WE BIND TO PAY TITHE I think the bigger question is: 1) WILL / CAN A MAN ROB GOD AND GET TO HEAVEN? Answer: emphatic NO. 2) The next logical question will be: CAN A MORTAL MAN REALLY ROB THE IMMORTAL GOD answer: YES 3) HOW CAN A MORTAL MAN ROB THE IMMORTAL GOD simply: BY GIVING UNTO MAN / SOME OTHER ENTITY WHATEVER BELONGS TO GOD. this includes, please enumerate: - the first place in your heart - yourself, - your time and talent, - your worship and praise, - your tithes and offerings, - all the glory, honor and praise you receive from men. Tithes and Offerings is like when you have only two children and you give them a primary responsibility never to forget helping each other. The instruction you have given to your own children doesnt mean you will / have any intention automatically forgotten either of them. The case with pointing fingers at "so called men of God" who pocket the tithes and offerings of their members is two fold: 1) If you are sure, if you have done enough research and successfully concluded that Church money is diverted into the pastor's pockets? why are you still attending that Church? Do you think a pastor that eats God's money can really lead you(a member) to Heaven's gates? How? Can't you read the Bible yourself and pray that God will lead you somewhere else where pastor and members hold the word of God with fear and reverence? Havent you read the Bible to see what happens to those that sitteth with sinners? What are you doing amongst sinners calling themselves children of God? By the time judgement begins, you will receive your own share by your identification with them. So you see, you yourself have a problem which must be addressed first. 2) back to my opening question: WILL / CAN A MAN ROB GOD AND GET TO HEAVEN? If you, as a Church member cannot rob God and get to heaven, do you think your pastor / any others who "eat God's money" will get to heaven? another emphatic No. No one has robbed God and gone scot-free. If heaven is your ultimate, the next question will be: why are you more concerned about someone who isnt ready for heaven. Why did you make such a person your pastor? Why not try to save yourself with fear and trembling. If you, from your heart have given to God, dont bother about the person that decides to be a thief. God knows who his real children are and soon, wheat will be separated from chaff. Leave God to identify the chaffs, just make sure you are among the wheat. |

Family / Re: Couples With Different Career Dreams by mpmp: 1:35pm On Aug 12, 2012 |
honeric01: Which is more advisable? My answer is: NONE OF THE ABOVE, just make sure you marry someone you really really love. With Love in the picture, the job he does and the time he closes from work; whether or not he is an entrepreneur and you are a corporate worker....and whatever else wont matter. True love brings SACRIFICE(ADJUSTMENT). A lot of time, men and women in a relationship do not want to adjust. Husbands prefer their wives to adjust and meet them where they are. Wives also wrongfully think that if her husband truly loves her, he will do all the adjustment alone. Both are wrong, coz both should actually be adjusting to each other. If a man really loves a woman in a marriage relationship, his priority will be to specialize in doing those things that make make her happy. If its her 9-5 career job that makes her happy, he will be solidly behind her up to the point that both will make sure the home front isn't neglected. If a woman loves a man, she will daily seek out his happiness. And if a 9-5 job or doing a private business is what makes him happy, she will support him with whatever she does. Soon they will become two hands washing each other, looking out for each other and keeping each other clean. Isn't it awesome to see couples when they grow old, they begin talking alike, thinking alike, even looking alike. The reason is because each one has tried to personally adjust and fit into the dreams and ambitions of the other(spouse) during their union. At the end, the arrive at the same point and flow easily like water. Never forget that children will come, grow up and go. The two of you that started the race will be the two of you that will finish it. If the foundation of love and sacrifice is not there, the beginning will be burdensome and the latter end a complete bore. 3 Likes |
Sports / Learning From The Chinese, Why Cant Nigeria Invest In Sports by mpmp: 8:28am On Aug 12, 2012 |
what I appreciate in the above is the following: 1) Sun Yang has to share his earnings with other members of the team and the Chinese swimming program. He can only keep 1/3 of his earnings. question: can this ever happen in Nigeria. 2) the cost of turning Sun into a world-class swimmer and training him from childhood had reached $1.57 million - im wondering how much does Nigeria spend on its athelets. 3) Sun Yang has an Australian coach whom China also spent money on for him to produce a champion. In Nigeria we argue about whether or not the coach must be a Nigerian for us to succeed. 1 Like |

antitpiah:why did you shoot yourself in the foot? If "home is where your heart is", definitely their hearts are not at your home(Nigeria), so leave them alone. Whats all the speech for. You are in no position to tell us where their heart is, coz your own heart is not where it should be, the way you are whining and crying about this issue. Your nationality is still defined by your ethnic group/heritage/affiliation. Ohuruogu, for instance is a Nigerian name. To claim otherwise for the sole purpose of making yourself feel better about who you really are is dishonesty. What kind of jargon is this? Is Ohuruogu from your village? why are you nursing a sense of loss or guilt. What have you as a person or the governor of the state where Ohuruogu comes from done / contributed to Ohuruogu's success for you to feel that you/your state of origin or even Nigeria as a nation owns the name and the person bearing it? Isnt Barrack Obama the President of the whole world, is he repping Kenya. Why are the Kenyans not crying and wailing over the loss of their son? I do agree that people should be free to decide what country they want to represent. What Island. People should be free to act in their own interest, monetary or otherwise. That said, the fact still remains that you cant simply wake up and change who you are all of a sudden. No one exist in a vacuum. We all started from somewhere. And that place is HOME. Ohuruogu's home is not the UK. Her home is whereevre her parents call home. She is part of something bigger than her and she just, like the rest of her cohort, cant just cut herself off from her origin or ethnicity.who told you that someone cant wake up and change who they are all of a sudden. The day America woke and up decided it was time for a black President, where were you? were you part of those carrying a placard shouting, No, No, No. What is your problem with Christine or whatever Ohuruogu her name is. She better start watching her back coz a stalker is in town. Did she dump you or didnt even look at you twice. And who are you to decide that Ohuruogu's home is not the UK.even after she has told the whole world it is. No one is claiming anything. We are just stating facts as we know them. Well if Nigeria had nothing to do with forming them, then I guess they should return the discipline they got from their NIGERIAN parents. They should wipe off the millions of years of information inprinted on the NIGERIAN DNA they were freely bequeathed by their NIGERIAN parents; dont forget that they are only able to achieve this much in part because of the DNA shoulders of the ancestors they are standing on. if you are sure no one is claiming anything, then I ask you what has been your point all along, even coming to the conclusion that "Ohuruogu's home is not the UK". What is your problem as a person. See the doctor talking DNA. Its people like you who should be deported out of the country, if you are already inside. Your mentality is ancient. DNA? duh. what concerns you with who their parents are. Is Jealousy worrying you as it worries so many Nigerians. So if they loose in the sports they are contesting in, does this mean the DNA of their ancestors is faulty. There is corruption everywhere. If Americans ran to Russia because there is corruption in America, we wont have America as it is now. There is no miracle elsewhere, we all need to pitch in if we ever going to see a Nigeria of our dreams. It is easy to blame others. Change we come only when we start taking responsibilities for our actions, inaction and baseless criticisms Yes there is corruption everywhere, but who told you that all these athelets ran away? Is that the way you think when you hear good news about a Nigerian excelling in his career abroad - you conclude he ran away? If a Nigerian child was born in America, does this mean the parents ran away. Is it your parents that should determine your citizenship or you as an adult who decides to reside in an environment and contribute meaningfully to it? Look around at all the Universities in the US and Europe and you find Nigerians there. Did they all run away? Did the hundreds of thousands of foreigners in Nigeria run away from their countries? do you hate them all just because they have chosen Nigeria as home? Some people have already suggested that the athletes competing for other countries are selling their souls. I agree to some extent, an Italian in NY is an Italian in Milan: It is true that home is what you decide to call home, but nationality is who you are, your ethnic group and the DNA haplotypes you possess. In the couple of years since we started (1952) competing at the Olympics, we've had some amazing experiences as a nation: heart-pounding encounters like Nojim Maiyegun's bronze medal at the 1964 games; incredible, world class individual performance by Chioma Ajunwa at the 1996 games; Exhilarating, out of this world experience from the Dream team, that we hoped would never end. We are currently in some ruts that is going to take our collective effort and imagination to get out of, a lot of hard work and patriotism is going to be needed in the years ahead if we ever going to live up to our potential. Still, as the saying goes, representing your father land is like pizza — even when it's bad as it is right now, it's pretty damn good. I am Nigerian first, and I plan on continue being Nigerian. Unfortunately you believe you can indeed sell your soul. How can you sell something you havent seen before? how can you sell something you dont own. Yes, an Italian is an Italian in New York and still an Italian in Milan. Is Mario Balotelli an Italian? or are you part of those angry that hes a black Italian. Is goodluck Jonathan an English man coz that is definitely not a Nigerian name. I think you should admire these nigerian athelets for even retaining their surnnames. What if they had changed it to Johnson, Washington, Newton and whatever. What would you do? And please stop all these your DNA talk. Are you a medical doctor working in a bank? Its so saddening that one of Nigeria's leaders of tomorrow should be thinking as shallow as you are doing. DNA? Have you tried to analyze the DNA of all our political leaders in Nigeria(past and present) who have deposited our financial futures in banks in America and Europe? Have you tried to theorize all the DNAs of the BH boys who kill and maim the innocent everyday? Have you studied the DNA of members of the National Assembly to discover why they are bent on running the nation down? Have you meditated on the DNA capabilities of all the armed robbers in Lagos alone? If you are not happy for these athelets, then I'll advise you to go and sleep somewhere. All these your rants are quite emotional but very baseless. Jealousy is definitely in the picture coz you feel they owe you something. |
Sports / Re: Nigerians Representing Other Countries In The Olympics!! by mpmp: 9:17pm On Aug 06, 2012 |
Why is everybody whining about men/women OF NIGERIAN ORIGIN representing other countries. Is it wrong to do so? I think its pure selfishness and greed to assume and conclude that just because they have Nigerian Heritage, they have a responsibility to represent Nigeria. When these athletes were training 24/7, dreaming big, enduring all the stress and rigor of traning, working multiple jobs, applying for scholarhips up and down, getting their lifes put together, I wonder where all of you were. Now that they are at the top of their game, we have the time to start researching their surname and parental heritage. Is Barrack Obama representing Kenya? If His father was Nigerian, I'm sure by now we would have stoned him with our Nigerian Heritage stones and he would be out of the white house. We would have blamed him for all the woes that befall Nigeria just because of what doesnt even concern him. Many of those listed are actually not Nigerians. That you were born by Nigerian Parents, but bred abroad and lived there all your life does not make you a Nigerian. We can be ofcourse mild to say they hold dual citizenships, etc. What would you all say if it were these foreign bones and muscles that represented Nigeria - if all our homegrown talents were booted out. Wont we be the ones crying cruelity and partiality? And for those athletes who change their nationalities just for the purpose of pursuing their dream, why cant we look inwards as a nation and ask ourselves what makes them leave. If the American Embassy opens its doors to just about anybody, even the Agberos will apply for American citizenship. Rather than counting those who at least made it to the Olympics even if on the shoulders of another flag, why dont we ask how many Nigerians did not meet up to expectation in their quest to represent other nations. I know for this one, we would say "good for them". Thats the selfishness and greed again. Are there not foreigners that live amongst us? do we consider them Nigerians? regardless of the color of their skin, the # of years they have been domiciled in Nigeria, lived, studied and done business in Nigeria, does the Nigerian government consider them Nigerians? do we allow them to have their own Nigerian breathing space? Mind you, Mr. President Goodluck Jonathan went to bombard Trinidad and Tobago with a 70-member entourage, meanwhile we Nigeria has 53 athletes to represent 150million people at the Olympics. that indeed is the Nigerian dream! 5 Likes |

God cannot even deliver this country anymore coz we are our own problem. 2-years ago, Security agents impounded 15containers of Arms in Lagos (https://www.nairaland.com/539794/security-agents-impound-15-containers) What happened to the arms? coz we didnt hear that the containers were shipped out of Nigeria again. Are these not the same arms that have fallen into wrong hands? |

Family / Re: House Please Your Thoughts: How Can A Lady Lower Her Standards? by mpmp: 5:44pm On Jul 23, 2012 |
@PrettyCindy Let me be very frank with you, no pun intended. After reading your post, I have an idea of your personality. note-1) That you are always SWEARING even when you write is an indication that you feel insecure about yourself. I wonder what you would do if you were to verbally narrate your story to a listening audience. Whether we swear from now till eternity, should we believe you or disbelieve your story? Insecurity makes people suck up to others, as if they cant be by themselves, as if something is missing in them without the other party. From your post, I gather: - you feel you have done everything you should do, - you feel you have measured up to the level of his expectation, - you feel that what you have endured is enough, by your actions in both time and space to convince him of your love, I can continue, but let me stop there. We are all human - so you have a right to feel every way you do, but in a sense you dont. Rather than allowing the feeling of "I have done all that I could do" to becloud your thoughts, why not ask yourself "what else could I do?". True love gives but isnt stupid. Ofcourse, this now applies for the future not for the past. Ive heard stories just like yours where the guy is devastated after his girl quits, and he begins to iterate all the sacrifices he has made. note-2) Never assume: from your post, you tried to please him tooooooo much. You tried to do everything in your capacity to make things work. The time you were acting someone else was more than the time you were just yourself(like everybody has said). Overtime, perhaps, while you thought you were working for your marriage, he misunderstood your actions that your motives were different. Note, he misunderstood. Many times, its better to always take a break and try to see ourselves from someone else's point of view. What does my actions portray about me carries more weight than what I want to portray with my actions. Men do not like desperate women, women do not like desperate men. Even when husby and wifey are still together, if one is more desperate about something, he/she ends up causing a major problem. note-3) let me say this in street language: Stop carrying marriage on your head. A lot of females fall into this category. They feel their life is complete with a man, and without one, they are grossly disadvantaged. Perhaps its as a result of upbringing, I dunno. Its a problem of the mind. You were a complete human being before you got married so what makes you incomplete after he decided to leave? Theres nothing wrong with you if you're married, there is nothing wrong with you if you're not, there is nothing wrong with you as a single mother, there is nothing wrong with you as a single father. Live your life, raise your shoulders high and breath in and out fresh air. Would you ever find love again as a single mum? Should you be looking for the next love or living your life. My sister, desperation will lead you to the wrong people. Take your mind off the issue, lighten up and go about as a normal person, thats when men would notice you. In fact, thats when you'll have an array of choices, and suddenly you would be at a level where you can see beyond their woos for what you really want. Lowering your standards? forget that grammar - just be yourself. Get over it. Have fun, go out with your kid, this is a time of yourlife you would never have with your kid/s again. Your kids(he/she) is all you have now, and vice-versa, so make the best of it. Trust me, if a man comes into the picture today, things will change. If a guy comes around and sees that mother and kid are getting on fine, living as if nothing else mattered, he will be on his knees begging to come into the picture. But if he sees "I am looking for a man" written all over your 4-head, he'll take the next okada in the opposite direction. And please, rather than opening threads on NL about the possibility of finding true love, as much as your story is appreciated, why not go open a website on how to be the best single mother out there. p.s: a study done in the US concluded that the number of men who visited single mom websites was 3times the number of women. What are they looking for? single moms who have their shoulders high. 5 Likes |

Crime / Re: Blessing Effiong Has Been In Detention For 4 Years Over Phone Theft by mpmp: 9:19pm On Apr 16, 2012 |
Eh yah, for the young lady who has been in prison for an offense she didnt even commit. Even if she committed it, 4-years is way too long. And people like Bankole(former speaker of the house) is accused for misappropriating billions of Naira, and yet he is a free man. Can someone tell me what rationale the Nigerian Police in Lagos state use to send people to Kirikiri? The lady's story reminds me of a friend. Travelling to Lagos from Ondo state, he left there in the afternoon, their bus had problems on the way and so they arrived in Ojota like 11-12midnight. Within minutes of arrival and departure from where the bus stopped, Lagos police arrived and packed all of them inside black maria - destination Kirikiri. The offense was that they entered Lagos late. Thank God he was able to send an SOS text message(I have been arrested, on the way to Kirikiri) before the police officers collected all their phones, bags and belongings. They were given no food, all their personal effects confiscated, they were not even allowed to make a phone call to relatives. They were not given any document to make an official statement on - about whatever they had to say. Long story cut short, my friend spent 3-nights inside Kirikiri for coming to Lagos late. The person who received the text at first thought it was a joke. Next morning, we were contacted, and we decided to wait some more. Calling up and down, another day passed, and finally reaching through to his peeps in Ondo - thats when we confirmed he had indeed travelled to Lagos. We then called up an army friend / escort to go check things out in Kirikiri. Took us almost a whole day, coz at first the wardens there denied any knowledge of anybody with the name. Thank God we met a good samaritan who gave us some info about some people brought in - a couple of days earlier and then we decided to be looking from cell to cell, calling out names. At what time does entering Lagos become an offense. Note: the bus-driver wasnt arrested, only the passengers committed this offense. |

If the above is done, then JAMB will be easier to pass, because all a money-maker needs to do is hack the website, pass somebody who should have failed and charge a fee. just my 2cents. I think the question we need to ask is: who are the IT experts handling JAMB's websites / result checking application. |
Politics / Re: Govt Identifies 1,497 Illegal Routes To Nigeria: I Say Add Another 1,000. by mpmp: 10:39pm On Mar 15, 2012 |
Nigerian Government identifies 1,497 illegal routes into Nigeria? thats bull bull bull. How about through the international airport. How many illegal Africans pass through our international airport everyday but dont leave the country. They enter on a premise that Nigeria shares a border with their country - which the ECOWAS allows, but nobody monitors their movement. If such people stay put in Lagos, is there any way a bonafide Nigerian can be identified on the streets of Lagos (for ex?) |

The Nigerian Government has turned Ghana into an ambassadorial dustbin. Ghana is where Nigeria sends trouble-maker-politicians, and the "We Pity You" one's go to. When Obanikoro was fermenting trouble in Lagos, he was thrown away to Ghana. Now Bianca is next. What does she know? Nothing. Who will give her respect? nobody. In 45-minutes time, she will be in Ghana. In fact, she can be coming home everyday after closing from work by 3pm. 1 Like |
