Islam › Re: Marrying A Widow By The Husband's Family: Islamic Perspective by mu2sa2: 1:24pm On Feb 14, 2013
The late husband's relatives cannot of course inherit her as if she were a property- that has no basis in islam. But i hav observed that in some cases where a women has had children with her late husband some members of the family may want her to be around to bring up her children by marrying someone within the family.Sometimes pressure and blackmail is applied - that's where it think it is wrong. But if a woman on her own volition chooses to marry her late husband's brother or relation (not mahram) I dont hav problems with that.

Black Peni5: I don't understand the point of the post...Is it wrong that the kids were given out for adoption or is it because they were adopted by christian parents.

Why didn't a muslim indicate interest in the adoption of the kids in the first place. Would they have preferred that their kids roamed the streets for the duration of the trial.

The kids are adults now, they should be able to decide for themselves what they want.

#Just saying
christian hypocrisy. Deceitful conversion as usual. Thousands of muslim families bypassed and muslim children deceptively handed to christian evangelists for brainwashing. What injustice can be worse than this? And by christians.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Significance Of Ash Wednesday by mu2sa2: 9:53am On Feb 13, 2013
HENRIETTAPOWER: Ash Wednesday is always celebrated once in a year. In catholic church, it means that ''we are made from dust and in dust we shall return''. It also marks the beginning of lent and the beginning of the christian fasting of 40 days. It is a mourning period for the catholics. Happy ash wednesday as we go into the lenting period.
Is Lent and Ash Wednesday only for Catholics?

Politics › Re: WazobiaFM Journalists Arrested For Kano Polio Killings by mu2sa2: 11:09am On Feb 12, 2013
Nigeria is gradually becoming a police state. Local people in Kano still see the terrible effect of a failed vaccination exercise conducted in the 1980s, so t many of them are suspicious of vaccinations to this day. If somebody does not trust the vaccine what the govt should do is enlighten him that it is safe. Today they are arresting journalists just for interviewing people expressing their views on the polio vaccine, maybe tomorrow they will start to arrest anybody who criticizes GEJ or PDP, or even speaking against corruption! Whither Nigeria?

Ngutor: It is good that the op labeled those 7 things facts and not truths. Someone once argued that that all truths are facts but not all facts are truths, but thats talk for another day.
Speaking as a tiv man I would say the op is uninformed or being mischievous. You can try to inquire from those that served (NYSC) in Benue state, perhaps they will give you a little insight of how many peoples wives they were offered to make thier 1year stay worth the while.
PLEASE we should not just write things because we have access to a device and internet, we should write to share accurate knowledge that would enlighten minds
You are right. I was in Tiv area of benue state for a almost a year and never saw or heard of tiv man offering his wife to his so-called special guest. Tiv people are christians and I dont think christianity condones such act. I believe its all damaging rumours fabricated by tiv haters. If u say the tiv drink a lot especially pito or burukutu I wont dispute it. If u say there are lots of tiv widows with nobody to support them and therefore take to unwholesome practices to survive, I wont dispute it either. But it's certainly not true that that in tiv culture u allow your guest to sleep with your wife as a way of entertaining him

ifyalways: Interesting.

Quick question, do they understand themselves and do they have a common/generally accepted and understood language?(Taraba state and co that are multi lingual)
In taraba, plateau, adamawa, borno, niger, kaduna, nasarawa hausa is the common language and is spoken by almost everybody although they may hav their native language - eg Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was not hausa, ditto adamu chiroma etc.In fact in the defunct Northern Region hausa language was the lingua franca and when u enter primary one u are taught to read and write in your native tongue as well as hausa so that by the time u finished primary school u will be trilingual - literate in your mother tongue, hausa and english. Boko haram was founded by a kanuri man and most of its members are not hausa but kanuri of borno and Yobe states. It's surprising that many people in SS and SE assume that every northerner is hausa or hausa/fulani and muslim.

mmagdalene: Slapping a 5 month old baby! OMG! This is why it is good to make a thorough background check before employing these people. And some people will say abuse is a Nigerian thing.

I always tell people that they should only leave their babies/kids with someone who's naturally interested in children and not a frustrated soul doing it just for money.
Employing somebody else to care for your child is wickedness - a child should be cared for, nurtured and brought up by his/her father and mother.
Crime › Re: 16-Month-Old Boy Stolen From A Church In Imo State.. by mu2sa2: 1:01pm On Feb 04, 2013
We hav said it before on another thread that kidnapping poses a more serious security threat to the south-east than Boko haram to the north. In SE kidnapping and armed robbery are seen as economic activities and so whoever engages in it and succeeds is celebrated by his money-worshipping tribesmen as having "made it". Today SE indigenes outside the region avoid going to their homeland out of fear of insecurity. Until the igbo man stop money-worship these crimes will continue to escalate.

Afam4eva: This is why we say wearing of hijab or any form of clothing that conceals people's faces should be banned. Even a majority muslim country like Kosovo has banned it. It should be extended to other countries. How are the going to catch who poured acid on this woman?

Btw, what's romantic about this story? or @OP are you insinuating that it was done by her lover or her lover's lover?
So in your warped thinking banning niqab will stop this kind of incident? Here in nigeria we hav had numerous acid attacks on individuals and none of the assailants wore niqab. In europe numerous crimes resulting in bodily injuries and deaths are commited by hooded criminals, nothing to do with hijab. Any way, we know your motive is to vilify Islam and muslims. Maybe this attack is even the evil machination of a Muslim hater, who will then turn around to blame muslims for it.

Tolexander: Imagine those bastards requesting for the cash to take care of their wounded mates, compensate the family of the deceased members.
What about the lives they have wasted? what about the properties they've destroyed? Who is to compensate the families of those people and renovate the properties?
Moreover who did they dialogue with, who will they disburse the amnesty to? And they claim they don't recognise the people behind Boko Haram. Who is deceiving who?
See hypocrisy! Why is FG rewarding niger delta terrorists with over 250 billion naira? When ex-gov sheriff started using police to kill hitherto peaceful boko haram members the FG turned a blind eye until things went haywire. 26 billion to rehabilitate not only bh members but also thousands of innocent people including women and children unjustly slained by security operatives. 26 billion is small change for a single thieving politician to steal. All the orphans and widows and indeed everyone who was victim of the disturbances across the North must be rehabilitated/compensated in a just and fair manner - this is the only recipe for lasting peace.

sweetmimi: i think say ds man don die. why all these long years of arguement.
Another 10 years, maybe, this case will still be in court. it's in court of Appeal now. Next it will move to supreme court. The supreme court for some reasons may order the case to be remitted back to the high court to be heard before another judge. When this round of the charade begins, the prosecution would face the problem of getting witnesses back to testify. In the end the prosecution's case falls flat on its face and Rev king walks away as a free, innocent man to boast about that he is "anointed" and no harm can touch him.

olede: The name of the student is Muhammed and now they want to trace his origin to say he from Edo state. Meanwhile who train him as a bomber? The security agent are trying but they should not try to instigate Kano indigen against the Edo's. Kudos to the security men.
We dont know whether this mohammed kabir was framed up or not but there are so many disgruntled, frustrated people all over nigeria today that if boko haram drives for agents, spies and volunteers they will get them in any part of nigeria, even among members of the security forces.
