Furthermore, Igbos themselves have not shown trust and support for their own candidates, starting from their war hero, Ojukwu, who couldn't even win his own ward against Shagari; and more recently (2019 elections) their son and daughter, Kingsley Moghalu and Obiageli Ezekwesili, whom they rejected for Atiku - yet another northern Fulani.

The highest they should expect is the Senate or, if they are good, the vice presidency but definitely not the presidency.

The Coalition of United Political Parties has alleged that are plans to depose the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II. The allegation was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the spokesman of the CUPP, Imo Ugochinyere.

The statement said some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Sokoto and Kano States were behind the move.
It said the decision to depose the traditional rulers was taken because of their decision not to take sides in the supplementary elections holding in the states on Saturday.

Now that the tables have turned and the Fulani have started retaliating, they are the ones crying louder than any one as if they are completely innocent and free of culpability in the whole saga.

Initially, the press ignored the story, then aided and abetted one Prof Chidi Odinkalu to go on air (Channels tv) and not only deny the killings but also falsely accuse El Rufai of incitement for confirming the story - unchallenged; even though as at then Channels tv (among others) already had the facts with it.

Interestingly, up to date none of the media houses had bothered to show a single picture or conducted a follow up on the 132 Fulani dead.

This contrasts quite clearly with the coverage of reprisals against the local tribes where very graphic images of the few killed are still being splashed all over newspaper pages.

Here again we can see a more detailed follow up on one of the victims - all cleverly designed to whip up emotions and to vilify the Fulani - whose side are yet to be heard and understood.
