God has already blessed us with oil; the geology of the NE, Bauchi, Benue Trough, Sokoto and even Niger state indicated presence of oil and gas; what is left is to confirm whether these finds are in commercial quantities and their yield economically viable at current crude prices.

Oil exploration is an expensive tedious venture which takes time to succeed - the current Niger Delta oil reserves took years to actualise, it didn't happen overnight; even as we speak now, explorations still going on in that area.
