PoliticsRe: See Soludo's Plans In Detail- Africa's Dubai Taiwan! I Am Soooo Excited! by Ndipe(m): 12:35am On Nov 25, 2009
Like I wrote, Talk is cheap, maybe the younger folks might fall into this grand illusion perpetuated by this man, but we of the older generation are aware that this kind of talk is nothing new on the Nigerian political scene. As soon as they get into power, they suddenly change gear and then we are bombarded with stories of them siphoning money and awarding contracts to their cronies. So, I aint falling for that. All what I have to ask is this: "Did the policies instituted by this man increase the value of the naira and the economy or not?"

Talk, as they say is cheap. What policies did he institute in CBN that benefitted the common man and the economy?

I have always loved Naija even when I lived there, love it here in Yankee, and want to be a part of it, till the day I die.

Flimsy 'excuse' It's the same reason people might use to justify the increase of human trafficking/kidnapping in Nigeria.

Totally wrong, like a poster asked, if he were to sleep with her for permanent residency, would he? That fake marriage stuff, I no fit do am at all. Just recently, one guy approached me and asked me about doing business of "marrying" girls in Naija to bring them over to America. I just told him that Marriage is a honorable institution ordained by God and I aint gonna abuse it. Some years back, one guys proposed a similar idea to me, that I could 'marry' my sister to bring her over to America. You can guess that my answer is no. Coming to America is not a do or die affair.

Racism is still alive in the USA even with the election of a black man into the white house.

Universal's UK 'Couples Retreat' Poster Brings Cries of Racism by Removing Black Actors
by Matt Ufford · November 16, 2009

A racially-tinged advertising decision has gone awry for the movie "Couples Retreat."

Marketers of the Vince Vaughn comedy, which stars four couples in a tropical paradise, removed black actors Faizon Love and Kali Hawk from the promotional poster used in the United Kingdom after the U.S. version used all four couples. In response to outrage over the move, a Universal spokesman said the altered poster aimed "to simplify the poster to actors who are most [recognizable] in international markets."

While Love and Hawk aren't generally as well known as the film's other six stars, it's still a questionable motive. As noted in a 2007 New York Times article, American films with black stars typically struggle in the overseas market. According to the article, Will Smith, the undisputed king of the American box office, ranks no better than twelfth when it comes to ticket sales internationally. Simply put, said industry watcher James Ulmer, "The international marketplace is still fairly racist."

However, there's good news for those who believe the removal of Love and Hawk from the UK poster was racist: Universal issued a statement regretting any offense it caused, and the studio has scrapped all plans to use the modified poster in other overseas markets.

FamilyRe: Can You Marry Your Third Cousin? by Ndipe(m): 12:34am On Nov 15, 2009
Is it an abomination to marry your fourth cousin? I know that first and second are definitely frowned upon in most societies, but I'd like to know if that is also outlawed in the society.

If the wife asks for permission from the husband, I say give your consent, but if she doesnt, then that should be a red flag.

Trust is a factor, but for me, it wouldnt be a big deal. But from my understanding of the Nigerian culture, some wives would seek permission from their husbands. If she does, then give her the go-ahead. It shows that she is considerate of your feelings to broach a topic that men might be uncomfortable with.

Best wishes.

Here is a picture of Camara Laye posing with Marie, her father and two of their children. Got in touch with the grandaughter, told me that her grandmother, Marie is still alive, healthy and is in Paris.

FoodRe: Bread Dipped In Hot Chocolate? by Ndipe(m): 3:22am On Nov 05, 2009
I dont care about the breadcrumbs at the bottom of the coffee cup. It's my handiwork and I am gonna eat it. One other thing, as a child, I loved slurping my tea with teaspoon while stirring at it. Just hated drinking it from the cup when it was hot, and did not know how adults could do it without being scorched. Even now, in extreme cases when the cup of tea is hot, I will slurp it with a tablespoon while stirring it till it cools down.
FamilyRe: Involving Extended Family In Decisions - Is It Right by Ndipe(m): 3:01am On Nov 05, 2009
I think most reasons men involve their sisters in marital decision is the fear of being accused of neglecting their family, or worse, being tied to the woman's wrapper. Women detest that, but alas, they are their worse enemies.
PoliticsRe: Cross River State Govt Bans Okada - From Nov. 15th by Ndipe(m): 2:54am On Nov 05, 2009
I dont think Okada should be banned. Entering a taxi in my opinion is more dangerous than riding an Okada, because you might be in the midst of kidnappers and robbers and all that. No, I prefer Okada anytime over taxi.
FoodRe: Bread Dipped In Hot Chocolate? by Ndipe(m): 3:35am On Nov 03, 2009
I still do it, only when I am eating alone. As a kid, I had an extra-sensitve tongue and even when my mom will scoop meat for me from her pot of soup, I will rinse it in cold water before eating it. It might be bad table manners but ete, as long as you arent sharing a meal with another person, then, I will dunk my bread in peppersoup (no, I havent had choco in a while)

I dont hate Nigeria, on the contrary, I love Nigeria very much. Though the infrastructures are lacking back home (electricity and water), honestly, Nigeria will always remain my home sweet home and even as of now, I nurse the idea of moving home for good. Aint kidding.

Dont tolerate this woman's unhealthy behavior for the sake of your baby's well-being. No matter what, put your foot down firmly and say the baby needs to rest. If she becomes aggressive, you can file a police report against her.
FoodRe: Bread Dipped In Hot Chocolate? by Ndipe(m): 2:27am On Oct 29, 2009
Used to, when I was a kid with my brothers. My parents did not approve of it. I think some people think it's childish, but man, I enjoyed dipping bread in my tea. Just did not like eating and drinking simultaneously, cos tea was hot, and it's like my tongue was extra-sensitive/prone to being scalded easily.

What is boggling is this: How come all the money deposited in the banks are never stolen by witches and wizards? Can anybody explain why?
FamilyRe: Wombs For Rent In Nigeria - Is This Greed Or Madness? by Ndipe(m): 3:11am On Oct 20, 2009
The whole idea appears totally crazy and completely disturbing. Like someone commented, some of them are just regarding their babies as commodities to be bidded and sold to the highest bidder. Now, I gotta ask, "whose eggs are used for conception, they or the men's wife?" If it is their eggs, then these girls are simply abandoning their flesh and blood for money.

I dont think I have. Though I have been embarrased by some of their infamy that's made headlines in the USA. Remember in 95 during the hanging of Saro Wiwa. Gosh, that was a blight on our image and then, when 419 was rearing it's ugly face in the global arena. Someone complained of almost being duped and I was so embarrased. Now, talk about 419 for 24 hours, or let it be beamed live on tv, and truthfully, I wont be bothered by it.
