CrimeRe: Female Banker Sends Robbers After Customer by Ndipe(m): 9:52pm On Sep 19, 2012
The story is fake, period!

How can a robber rob a client of the bank, then within that hour, call his accomplice (the banker) to congratulate her on a job well done? And according to the journalist, her phone rang as she was interrogated by her boss, who then demanded that she set the phone on speaker. I mean, c'mon, nairalanders, this story get k-leg. No armed robber would call their accomplice in the middle of an operation when they could meet in the evening to share the loot. Why didnt the reporter mention the name of the bank to serve as a warning to the public and other clients? Why arent the police investigating this alleged incident? Dismiss it, it's a concocted story.

CrimeRe: Female Banker Sends Robbers After Customer by Ndipe(m): 12:53am On Sep 19, 2012
celeboi: A female cashier working in a new generation bank along New Market Road, Onitsha, Anambra State has landed in trouble for sending robbers after a customer just after he withdrew N5 million from the bank. It was gathered that the customer was attacked by the armed bandits who operated on two motorcycles while waiting to board a vehicle to his destination.

After being dispossessed of the money, Daily Sun gathered that the victim became suspicious of the role played by the female cashier as no other person knew about the withdrawal and he hurried back to the bank in anger and threatened to expose the cashier if the stolen money was not returned immediately to him.

According to a reliable source, the bank manager, whose office was situated close to the banking hall, overheard their argument and invited them into his office. While interviewing both parties, the female cashier consistently denied involvement in the crime and vowed to deal with the victim if his allegation was eventually proved to be false. However, the cat was let out of the bag during hot exchange of words when the mobile phone of the cashier rang persistently and she refused to answer the call.

While she was fidgeting, the bank manager suspected foul play and ordered the cashier to answer her call, using the amplified speaker. When she finally picked the call after much reluctance, it was the voice of the excited robber from the other end telling the cashier that the operation was successful. He told the cashier to meet him at the designated location to collect her share after the close of work. The cashier became speechless after the call as tears of shame and guilt streamed down her face.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Mr. Ralph Uzoigwe, said he had not received any complaint from the bank and promised to reach the reporter as soon as information got to him. It was learnt that the bank was handling the incident internally to avoid a dent to its image' instead of reporting it to the police, my goodness, something sounds fishy here, the story doesnt sound true at all!

Why do I doubt the veracity of this story? A robber robs a bank, flees, then calls his accomplice (a worker at the same bank) congratulating her for aiding and abetting him, within an hour of the robbery incident? Is this not the same magazine that printed a story of a woman who gave birth to a horse? People dont have to believe every single story from the media. And they are 'handling the incident internally to avoid a dent to its image', yet,

Do you have to believe every single story that you read in the papers? You need to ask questions first to ascertain that you are not duped or that the story is real. From what I read, journalist were not given access to the woman who had given birth, rather, she was kept hidden from them. So, how would journalist verify if this woman really gave birth to the animal or not?

my question is this, why do we Africans have to adopt every trend in the west? Yeah, English was imposed on us by the colonial masters but Chinese? Please give us a break. Someone mentioned about the influence and domination of Chinese in global affairs, and I do ask, what of Africa? If Africa wasnt a force to reckon with in global affairs why are chinese flocking to our continent in search of greener pastures? Or would it be tomorrow, we might be forced to start wearing chinese clothes to work (just as we wear suits and ties in the humid African weather in the name of colonialism)

I read that story in the defunct Classique Magazine which was owned by the Late May Ellen Ezekiel.

For this one, did eyewitnesses see the woman giving birth to this animal or are they just relying on hearsay? The reason I say this is that journalist did not have access to really interview this woman, instead she was kept hidden away from them. Me, I just have to say this, dont believe every single story you read in the papers.

Even if the world is moving to a dangerous place, I am sure Nigerians would move along with them just to fit in. All what I am saying is this, if the colonial masters did not bother to learn our language when plotting to come over to Africa to steal our resources but relied on their own language in plundering our own resources and even chinese coming to Africa to make money without resorting to learning our language, why then are we compelled to learn theirs also? No, it's inferiority complex.

watchme: I knew of a kindred in my village that were "OSU" they later decided to perform some sacrifices and called the whole village that no body should regard them as OSU anymore that they have cleansed themselves from the cause. After 2 months of the cleaning and renaming of there linage, there elderly ones started dieing, both family members abroad they continue to die one after the other, followed by the younger ones. One day a man from their linage noticed that it is really going out of hand, after burying his wife and two of his elderly sons in less than two weeks, he took a drum and a stick and started announcing to the whole village that he is truly an OSU and all his linage are OSU including the ones abroad and those in the country that he vouch on behalf of all his linage and as from that day, things became normal again.

This is truly a life story it happened in my presence. I think that they made the decision out of frustration. This OSU are known to be rich, there guys are the most handsome, and there girls are know to be the most beautiful. Compiled with there high standard of intelligence. They always come first in all the school activities while I was in the secondary school. But apart from all this that stigma OSU still follows them.

They (OSU's) are not regarded in my community, they are not allowed to talk in my community gathering meeting. They are not allowed to contest in any political position in my community despite their riches.

My grand father is a CATHCHIST in the Catholic church in my home town, he is a well known educated man. But when he noticed that my cousin has fallen in love with an OSU, he didn't take it lightly until the relationship got dissolved.

It is absolutely barbaric. If I eventually fall in love with one I will definitely go ahead. With my arrangements with nobody's consent.
Read this novel, "No Longer at Ease" by Chinua Achebe. The protagonist parents (who was the first son of Okonkwo in Things Fall Apart) who are Christians are unwilling to let their son marry a lady because their culture regards her as an Osu. Infact, the mother vows to kill herself if he marries her.
Christianity EtcRe: Bible Question: Was Benjamin Born Before Or After Joseph Was Sold Into Slavery? by Ndipe(op): 8:56pm On Aug 28, 2012
Alaafia l‘oro:
^^^^Even after reading your post& d link,I m not convinced.
Let me point at something. We both agreed that Racheal gave birth to Benjamin&died while they were return home from Jacob‘s father-in-law. With ur argument that Joseph was sold before then,it means he could only have been sold in Padanaram which was where Jacob was staying before returning home. But to nulify that believe, when he was sold they were already in Canaan(Isaac‘s crib)&places like hebron&shechem were mentioned-Gen 37:1&14.
Some of this arguable assertions were made by theologians. I m not saying they are not knowledgable bible scholars but mosts of their points are usualy controversial & not convincing.
Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin. Afterwards, there is a listing of the 12 sons of Jacob, and thereafter, the Holy Bible talks of Jacob burying his father, Isaac with his brother, Esau. Isaac died when he was 180 years old and he was 60 when he had his twin sons, Esau and Jacob, which means the twins were 120 years old. Jacob had Joseph at 91, because when the famine was in its second year and Jacob and his family arrived in Egypt, he told Pharaoh that "The years of my sojourning are one hundred and thirty. . ." (Genesis 47:9).

Joseph was thirty years old as of the time he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so he was 39 in the 2nd year of the famine when his family relocated to Egypt. Which means that when his granddad was dead, (as of the time his father was 120 years old), he was still in Egypt. He was sold as a slave when he was 17 years old. So, my strong belief is that Benjamin was actually born when he was in slavery.

Christianity EtcRe: Bible Question: Was Benjamin Born Before Or After Joseph Was Sold Into Slavery? by Ndipe(op):
Alaafia l‘oro:
....and what‘s your proof?
Answer: The Holy Bible says that Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin.

Then we turn to the lifestory of Joseph who is described as a 17 year old boy. One day he had a dream that eleven stars and the sun and moon bowed to him. When he told his father and his brothers, the latter hate him even more while his father rebukes him by asking, "Will YOUR mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?" (Genesis 37:10)

Question who is the mother here? Obviously Rachel, because she was Joseph's mother. She hadnt yet died and Benjamin was not yet born because she died while giving birth to him. Another hint, the dream was a revelation of an event that would occur in future, so that would explain the identity of the eleventh star. Remember, if Rachel was still alive when Joseph had those dreams, then the eleventh star who was Benjamin was not yet born.

After Joseph was sold and he later on became the governor of Egypt, his brothers came and bowed to him. There, he remembered the dreams and ordered them to bring his brother to him. When they returned back home and narrated to their father about the harsh treatment they received from the ruler of Egypt and his request that they bring in their younger brother, their dad refused. When the famine grew more severe and Jacob told them to go back to Egypt to get more food, his sons refused to, telling him that the ruler insisted that they could only see his face if they brought his younger brother. Now, Jacob asks them, “Why did you deal so wrongfully with me as to tell the man whether you had still another brother" (Genesis 43:6). Read the interesting reply in verse 7.

But they said, “The man asked us pointedly about ourselves and our family, saying, ‘Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?’ And we told him according to these words. Could we possibly have known that he would say, ‘Bring your brother down’?”

From what I deduce, when his brothers bowed to him, Joseph remembered the dream he had previously, but he probably wondered about the identity of the eleventh star. So, to get to the root of the matter, he probed his brothers, 'Have you another brother?'And the brothers innocently or ignorantly told him that they did because that's what they told their father. That's another hint that Benjamin wasnt yet born.

Another instance is during the blessings Israel conferred on the sons of Joseph. Prior to that, he narrated to Joseph on the death of his mother, Rachel, and how and where he buried her.

Genesis 48: 7 "But as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died beside me in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was but a little distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).”

Why would Israel recount the death of Rachel and her burial place to Joseph if he was visibly present during his mother's demise? Obviously, he wasnt, hence his father decided to, probably because he was her first child (and deserved to know) about the death of his mom as well as the burial place.

So, in my conclusion, Benjamin was born after Joseph was sold. It's very fascinating how the story unfolds and the lessons one can learn from it.

Alaafia l‘oro:
He was born before Joseph was sold into slavery. Actually,Benjamin was given birth to by racheal when Jacob&his family were returning back home from Laban, his father-in-law(GEN 35:18). It was after their return to his father‘s house that Joseph was sold.
