When this happens, stop pointing fingers, a tragedy is a tragedy and instead of pointing fingers, either sympathize with the parents or simply move on. The death of a child is the worst tragedy for any parent to endure. |
naptu2: Regina Askia (2nd runner up Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria [1988]. Took over the crown when Bianca Onoh resigned. She was also an actress and singer. Model for Visine Eye Drops adverts).1st runner up not 2nd runner up. |
wonlasewonimi: You can't take NL serious these days. That's why it has been stagnant since 2005. Don't believe the 1m members. The actual number is about 2000. I know someone with about 600 monikers on this site.600 monikers? Who is the person? |
PrettyCindy: Hello everyone, people around me have been saying that my 1 year old son is a 'lefty'. Though i have keenly observed that he does practically everything from picking up objects to waving goodbye with his left hand.Leave the child and let him use his left or right hands as nature ordained him to. Trying to correct him might lead to psychological damage. Why is this even an issue in the 21st century when we are all enlightened that being a southpaw is not evil? |
sigmond: Ndipe, it doesn't pay to be lazy what am reading here is shaking the very foundation of my Christian faith and billions of other christian all over the whole, the very foundation of the Christian faith that is the ressuction of Christ and the virgin birth is not recognized by the very people that God has chosen. Am praying the Lord guilds me to the truth.Try as hard as they can, nothing can shake the foundation of Christianity. The Davinci code is among the detractors of Christianity that has failed woefully in bringing it down. |
There is a branch of Judaism that accepts the Messiaship of Jesus Christ. The name is called Jews for Jesus. Google it for more information. And for your information, Jesus Christ fulfilled all the promises mentioned in the Old Testament about the coming of the Messiah. |
I dont know when it was founded |
I can trace my history to my greatgrandfather who, along with his younger brothers, founded my village and the neighboring one. Actually, where I hail from was founded by my greatgrandfather, and the village still bears its name uptil now that I am writing it. The adjoining village was founded by his younger brother, while the next village immediately after the second village was founded by the third brother. I know little about their own origins, like where they came from to become founders of our village. And it's something that I wished I inquired from my dad. From my maternal side, her maternal grandfather was a judge during the colonial era, but died when my grandmother was very young. He was a very progressive man who saw to it that his daughter went to school. Alas, my grandmother dropped out when her father passed on. One of my late uncles, my mother's brother, who became a professor, conducted some research in London and saw a picture of his grandfather (my greatgrandfather, the judge) in a British Archive. Interesting topic, I believe it's useful to learn of our origins. Countries like Guinea and Senegal rely on griots to narrate their family history. |
And what if they break up, would that be the end of the friendship? I dont think I would approve of it, but hey, if it's their choice, then that's it. But I wouldnt recommend it. https://www.nairaland.com/1116085/pair-up-matchmake-relative-close |
Never! |
I posed this question some years back if one would give up their child for adoption? Here it is. https://www.nairaland.com/156219/give-up-child-adoption |
Giving up the baby for adoption has its pros and cons, what if the adoptive parent turns out to maltreat the child? I dont know, it's a very sensitive topic, but truthfully, I would suggest you explore every options available before giving up the child for adoption. You dont want to spend all your waking moments regretting your choice. Read this novel, 'Secret daughter' by Shilip Gowda about a woman's heartrending choice to give up her baby daughter to protect her from gender infanticide (in India) and the emotional heartbreak she endured afterwards. |

Bootylicious: Sean Stewart became the youngest father in Britain yesterday when his girlfriend gave birth to a healthy son. Sean is 12 and girlfriend Emma Webster id 16-year-old girlfriend |
Table Leg :I disagree. |
Question Question: So, if the father is not great at the subject, the mother shouldnt help out because she is tired from doing household chores? |
I have read about that as well, that the Ewes originated from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria. |
seunfly: We are always the best any where we find our selves, if we can stop all this madness and come together as yorubaigbohausa tribe, believe me nothing can stop us and Nigeria will scoop awards as a nation every where in the universe even before God almighty.Among the best at times, still, this is good news. |
2goodbobo: First of is Conundrum and not Connundrum*Applause, you deserve five stars. That you are better off economically doesnt give you the gall to degrade them. Life is unfair. Some of them because househelps due to unfortunate circumstances that upended their family background. My grandma's housegirl was in jss3 when her father died, so that put a kibosh on her education. Our housegirl, a very nice and hardworking girl, had a baby, and had to work for us. Eventually, her family members recalled her back to go back to school. One of my aunt's maid lost her father which derailed her education and another one was an orphan and had to work for another aunt of mine before her grandmother had the wisdom of withdrawing her to the village to go to school . Why am I saying this? Unfortunate circumstances are partly the reasons why people choose to be househelps. But for the grace of God, my younger sibligns would have been forced to become one as well. My mom died when my youngest sister was in her final year while another sister had just finished her ssce exams and was on vacation waiting for her results (My father had died the some years earlier). But they still forged on with education, thanks to God's Grace and dollars remitted to them from their elder brothers. Otherwise, who knows, if these tragedy might have compelled them to eke out a living as housegirls (I am an Akwa Ibommite and my state is well known, derogatorily, as a supplier of human labor in Nigeria. So, whatever circumstances you find yourself in, give Glory to God, mete out kindness to the underprivileged, not necessarily because you are expecting a favor, but because they simply deserve it. Treat them well and if you cant or they prove annoying and unreliable, send them packing. There is no crime in being a housegirl. |
I prefer listening to folk talkes under the moonlight to watching fairytales on disney channels. The flow of the story is very vivid and almost transports you to the real action of the tale, similar to watching them on television. Unfortunately our values are being watered down by the western culture. Miss it very much. Moreso, there is always a moral to the story it imparts to the listeners. Which disney movie does that? |
Jumia took the charitable task in feeding these kids and some critics are demanding that they ought to do more. My question: What have you done for the underprivileged? |
Africans did this, did that, great civilization of Egypt has been traced to Africans, yet our continent is in bad shape. How ironic! |
Seems like an interesting article. |
Everybody gotta admit that we live in a dog eat dog world filled with competition and bragado on the latest purchases, be it Gucci, Samsung Galaxy, a million dollar house, etc, and in most instances, such purchases are bound to evoke envy and spite in the lives of certain people. This leads to a rise in armed robbery, prostitution and all vices imaginable in today's society. So, few days ago, I kept wondering if our forefathers were indeed happier than our present generation. We know that they were not materialistic as we are, but were contented to walk barefoot, (some of us want the best shoes), live in modest thatch roof homes, and at evenings, gather at the village square to regale one another with folk talks under moonlight. We dare not incorporate that into our lives for fear of being left behind or worse, being ridiculed by our mates as being crass. Hence, the need to compete with another another, and the competition can be left brutal. But the quality of life in those days were not great, people walked miles and miles to places and even had to forego travelling because of the distance. In a whim, we can be in Paris, for a holiday as long as we have some money in our account. We can hop from one bar to another to sample exotic drinks (not kaikai or palmwine) and stroll to the mall for shopping. But are we happier than our forefathers who did not have these privileges or were they happier? |
Dont delay her progress, at the same time, 8 years old is too young to be in boarding house. Cant she be a daystudent? |
I read about a young boy raised by animals who was cared for or rescued by Janet Museveni. Is he the one? For the fellow who asked if the whole family were raised by animals, that's rude. |
This is a story worth celebrating (http://www.ebony.com/black-listed/life/zora-ball-becomes-youngest-to-create-mobile-app-video-game-981#axzz2L0Q7cLmx) not this type of story about the richest student at Unilag. |
