Why do I choose to worship Jesus Christ?

He died for my sins and rose again for my justification. Today, if I need anything, I have to pray in faith and He will intercede on my behalf. My forefather's relgion would demand an arm and a leg to fulfill rites while the gift of Jesus Christ is FREE.

Dont be brainwashed, Jesus Christ is the Only Way to God.
FamilyRe: Man Encouraged Wife To Sleep With Men For Kids, Now Wants The Children Returned by Ndipe(m): 1:04am On Feb 25, 2012
In Arrow of god by Chinua Achebe, one of the characters in the novel, Akukalia, was impotent and his wives were given out to men to bear children for 'him'. It's practised in certain cultures under a cloak of secrecy, but please quote me on this, I dont approve of it.

Another one is a polygamist who converts to Christianity, and in some instances, 'instructed' to divorce his multiple wives on grounds that the practise of polygamy contradicts the tenets of Christianity. Some men do obey, while others renounce the faith and return back to their previous religion.

In the olden days, I read that the death of a king/influential chief in certain parts of Africa prompted tradition to hunt for human heads to accompany the corpse. Infact, read the novel, "The concubine," it's detailed in the first page of the novel.

@daregold

I agree with all you said about grace. But take time to listen to this man and compare what he says with scriptures and you would have to choose either the testimony of Jesus and the apostles as recorded in the bible or this man's testimony. They are worlds apart.

He did not go to heaven. I have read visions of heaven in the books of revelation, Isaiah, Enoch etc yet none of these men went to heaven themselves when they saw these visions.

In the bible there are only 3 men that is recorded to have gone to heaven and arguably four. Enoch, Elijah, Jesus and arguably Moses. All these men do not have their bones in any grave. Their bodies are transformed into glory and you cannot find them in their graves. Every other dead person is awaiting resurrection. That is the hope of believers. There is however a record of some righteous men who were resurrected with Jesus and many believe they went with him to heaven but you would also notice that their graves became empty.

If a dead man is to go to heaven he would have to wake up from his grave and ascend to heaven otherwise he is dead and his soul is either in paradise or hell. Both paradise and hell are temporary places of rest and torment respectively. Rest for the godly and torment for the ungodly. On the day of judgement ( the day of the Lord) all those who are dead would be awaken ( resurrect) Hell would release those who are in it. In other words hell would be empty. All men shall rise from their graves and stand before the son of God to give account of their deeds.

In the final destruction of evil the bible records that all evil shall be destroyed in the lake of fire ( this is not hell). For hell, Hades, death, Satan, and all whose names are not found written in the book of life shall be thrown into the lake of fire. this is the second death.

If you believe the bible you would agree that the judgement this man is talking about would not be done by the angels. Jesus who is both son of man and son of God would judge man and not any angel.

We are not saved by legalism or keeping of certain laws of dos and don'ts. All children of God have in them the spirit of Christ and are known by the Lord. Even if a man calls Jesus Lord but has not in him the Spirit of God he only deceives himself.

Stupidity all around.

I have once been flogged 24 strokes of the cane along with every boy in the class when I was in Primary 5. Till date, my parents never heard of that incident; my dad and that teacher grew up in the village together. If i had dared mention it to my dad, he would have continued from where the teacher left off.

Children of today are too spoilt. I do not even want to talk about kids bred abroad. After I saw a friend's 10 year old niece fighting his elder sister (who was the girl's mum and they live in Scotland), that was the day I decided that my children can NEVER be bred abroad.

And they will be punished when they are wrong, either by me or in school by their teachers.
I was whupped by my teachers and senior students and in cases was not justified. I still maintain, if my children were punished unjustly in school, I wont take it easy with the teacher or the senior student. Flogging a student 22 strokes of the cane is ABUSE!!! Parents need to stand up for their children when they are abused, (I am not saying, they should flog the teacher), but something needs to be done when a student is given 22 strokes of the cane. Was it not last year that I read of a primary school pupil who was beaten to death by a teacher?

I have been completely and pleasantly shocked by this picture. Heaven help me, bold, creative and in a way attention seeking. Taking the attention away from the bride. would you let your husband steal the show on your wedding day?
It is also the husband's wedding day, so dont attribute the day solely to the bride. Most importantly, weddings shouldnt be an avenue to draw attention to oneself, but a day to celebrate the legal joining of man and woman together as husband and wife.

A more important task for teh governor to do is to pay the minimum wage for all employees of the government. Last I heard, the workers had embarked on an an industrial strike over non-payments of their salary. This is more important than building impressive edificies in the state.

CultureWhat Aspects Of Our Nigerian Culture Should Be Abolished? by Ndipe(op): 2:20am On Feb 08, 2012
Which aspects of our culture needs to be abolished in today's era of enlightenment? One is the idea of organizing a lavish funeral upon the death of a relative. People get into debt to satisfy the mandate of tradition for fear of looking bad in front of others or worse, being afraid that the 'ghost' of the deceased (particularly, if they had a high ranking title in the village) haunt them subsequently for dispossessing their corpse in a shallow manner. Cows, Goats, bags of rice are bought and fed to the teeming crowds in expensive uniforms of lace and agbada adorned with pictures of the deceased while guests will praise you, "You don do am, now your papa go rest in peace, not realizing you are under pressure racking your brain on how to offset the bills in the forth coming months or even years.

What else?

HARTFORD, Conn. – Over the years, Eric Fischer had grown suspicious of whether he was really the father of his youngest daughter. So he secretly got a sample of the girl's hair, grabbed one from his own head and sent them to a lab for DNA testing. Sure enough, he was right. The girl was the product of an affair between Fischer's wife, Pamela Tournier, and her business partner, Richard Zollino. . .

He who pays the piper dictates the tune, that's the truth in most cases.

If a foreign production company is paying for the rights of this book to be adapted into a movie, then they are at liberty to cast anybody that they deem fit, in this movie. Otherwise, Nollywood could finance this project also and cast a Nigerian actress to play the lead.

Lets stop raising a storm over a teacup.
FamilyRe: Eating At Funerals. by Ndipe(m): 12:31am On Jan 30, 2012
This tradition should be abolished, the tradition of levying relatives exhorbitantly to make room for expensive burial rites. This is part of the reason some people are afraid of spending money in hospitalizing their ailing relatives for fear that on their death, they wont have enough money to pay for their funeral rites. This leads to partial neglect of the deceased because their 'loved' ones, burdened by tradition, want to set aside money for funeral expenses. Abi, I dey lie?  This is also a potential minefield between siblings with accusations that while one drained their expenses in taking care of the deceased during their lifetimes, the other sibling was simply a no show. Yet, one could say, there should be no price limit in caring for a love one, which is true, but during funeral, most people would rather pay respects to the generous bereaved for spending lavishly on cows, goats, drinks, renovating their father's thatched house into an imposing edifice to give their parent a befitting honor back to mother earth. You will even see elders extolling them, "You gave your father a befitting honor during his funeral." This leads to resentment, particularly, if the caretakers (in some cases, the daughters) are not recognized for caring for the decased during their lifetimes, but ran from hospital to hospital in search of remedy, and in the process, are unable to contribute a widow's mite, during the funeral.

This is an eye-opener to all and definitely a topic worth discussing.

Everything in Nigeria is meant to showcase wealth - marriage, birthday, burial, anniversary, memorial service, out-of-prison service, thanks-giving service, miracle service, naming ceremony, etc. This is the reason why more than 90 percent of Nigerians will steal if they are in the position to do so. The life of the society is geared towards showcasing wealth.
True, I used to question the essence in throwing lavish parties at ceremonies and I blame it partly on tradition. We need to question some of our African values that celebrates pomp and pageantry even at sombre occasions like funerals. Once, my mom came home from a funeral and our house help hadnt prepared food for her. My mom got angry at her and berated her for implying that she must have eaten at the funeral, hence her reasons for not cooking. Sometimes, it has to do with poverty, but at the same time, we see even respected elders demanding for cows, money, etc, etc during funerals while sons and daughters of the deceased get into debts to satisfy the demands of tradition. And dare not conform to it, you will be the laughing stock in the village.

How is it different from malaria, a cold, a headache? This is about enlightening people to stop demonizing things that God has already provided the solution for via medical science. Your post is not helping matters because it is not giving the entire picture. That woman would likely be alive today if she had been taken to a psychiatrist.

Back to this poor woman in question, it sounds more like she was psychotic than just depression. Her leaving home and wandering about all night makes it appear to be more than depression. Post partum psychosis, schizophrenia, acute psychotic episodes etc come to mind.

When will my people stop wasting each other’s lives? Spiritual leaders please wake up and start to educate our people!
Not any different, all sicknesses are from the devil, and yeah, pills can cure some of them, remember, power belongs to God ultimately.

They should have taken her to the hospital and not conclude it was a spiritual problem. Post patrum Depression, on my Gosh, My people really perish for lack of knowledge
And post partum depression is a spiritual problem caused by the devil. Depression itself is not from God but from the devil, so yeah, it is also a spiritual problem.

Hi friends, after reading all your stories, i've decided to publish this funny but real life encounter with 419. My friend told me this story he had with them. He was going home from work, very tired and hungry and had small naira with him but not much to buy any tangible thing. He was stoped by one guy who said he had travel from far place and need direction on some location. My friend said ok and directed him. He moved some steps forward and he was approached by another guy who ask him what that guy was discussing with him. My friend having explained to him and abt to go was convince to call the other guy back and ask what he was doing and how he manage to get here. My friend having known that they are 419 ppl decided to play along since he had no money home and abroad. He call the guy and ask him those questions. He answered and promise to give him some dollars if he help him find the place. He went with them to a place and the showed him some dollars and said that much of it is with one native doctor but that he need money to pay the man to pray for the money so that they can share it. Agreement was reached. Remember that i told you guys that my friend was playing along. So he acted as if he will die if he didn't get his share and this abt convinced this guys that the guy has falling for them. The said that everybody shld go and bring his. My guy told them that he had no money with him but he saw his uncle with a huge amount of money yesterday and that is his only hope to bring his share. So they asked him to go and bring it. He told them to wait for him in 1-2 hours time that he knew where his uncle kept the key. All of a sudden, my guy frown his face. They ask him why. He searched himself and brought that small money he was with and told them that he really can't go to his uncle place now since he had no money to take a drop to that place. They offer to drive him but he said that it will risk suspection from nabors. They agree to give him some money for drop. Guess how much a drop is in coal city. Very much money indeed. My friend pretended to be in a hurry to go and get the money. He enter local transport and stop near his house. There is one joint nearby that he desires to go but had no money. So he entered and ordered for bush meat with palm wine. He eat and drink while the fools where still waiting for him to bring his uncle money. That is the end. He told me this story few years back. So guys who is the 419er now? Answer if you can
And you expect us to believe this story? LOL
