Have you heard of Jews for Jesus? These are Jews who believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Don’t Christians Name Their Male Children Ishmael? by Ndipe(m): 11:47pm On Dec 08, 2011
I thought of the same question too recently because Ishamael is a unique name. Perhaps it has do with the belief that Ishmael is associated with Islam, according to beliefs. How true it is, I dont know.
Christianity EtcRe: Ishmael Or Isaac? The Koran Or The Bible? by Ndipe(m): 12:27am On Dec 08, 2011
Wao, I never ever thought that Muslims think that Ishmael was the child Abraham wanted to sacrifice per God's test. But the truth is this, it was Isaac.
PoliticsRe: Apart From The Civil War,what Else Did Ojukwu Do For His People? by Ndipe(m): 2:13am On Dec 04, 2011
realchange:
let me show you how stoopid your question is.
one day an assassin came to your house and swore that you must die that day.
you were almost dead when suddenly your brother showed up with a superior gun and chased away the assassin.
now my question to you.
would you be alive today if not for your brother that saved you? no is the answer. who can ever do anything greater than that for you? even money could not save you that day.
end of discussion
now crawl back to cave  cool
In your analogy, the brother with the superior gun is Ojukwu who chased away the assassin. But the truth is that he was actually the one who ran away to Ivory Coast, after fighting with the assassin.
LiteratureAfrican Novel Reviews. by Ndipe(op): 2:07am On Dec 04, 2011
Just my thought, but I'd like to know of each of your opinion regarding reviewing novels on this board to promote active participation. As most of us are of African descent, it is most likely that novels written by African writers would be the most popular ones. Perhaps, a member of this forum would pick a novel they have read (like Things Fall Apart) critique it and others would lend their opinions expressing their likes and dislikes of the novel. That would bring 'energy' to this particular forum. Let me know your ideas on this proposition.
FamilyRe: What If Your Daughter Doesnt Utilize Her College Education? by Ndipe(op): 3:51am On Nov 30, 2011
maybe, some of you dont realize that in America (ok, I used the Naira currency) at times, parents resort to taking out student loans to pay for their wards education. That's the reality of American education because it is regarded as an investment.

A relative who broached this subject to me told me he would be quite hurt by it because of the vast sum of money spent on her education, particularly if the parents were working class. And I think, I did ask him, ok, had she told you of her long term prospects, would you have declined to pay for her education because of her disinclination towards a career out of the home front. I think he said, it would have made more sense if it was for a liberal arts course but I am gonna pass this piece to him for his comment.

Even in America where women are almost at par with their male counterparts in the corporate world, there are some who simply bid adieus to their career once they get married. As a matter of fact, there are certain groups of women even here in America, who attend colleges, particularly the name brand ones like Harvard and Yale to snag a potential wealthy mate. Go figure if they succeed in hooking up with a hedge fund manager with 3 million dollar salary residing in a plush apartment in Park Avenue, NY, some will feel the return on their college investment is definitely worth it even if they never worked outside home. A friend of mine confided in me that a then co-worker flew out to attend college in California, per her mother's wishes, so she could find herself a rich husband.
PoliticsRe: Ojukwu’s Body To Tour 4 Countries Before Burial In Anambra by Ndipe(m): 2:46am On Nov 30, 2011
Vanity upon all vanities! I dont know how true it is, but I read the state government were footing his medical bills in London. So, if the family were not capable of paying for his medical bill while he was alive, where will the money come from to fly his corpse all around the countries that supported his failed mission in breaking away from Nigeria?
FamilyWhat If Your Daughter Doesnt Utilize Her College Education? by Ndipe(op): 12:24am On Nov 29, 2011
You and your spouse have spent thousands of Naira educating one of your daughters in medical school. After graduation, the newly minted medical doctor becomes engaged and right after marriage, announces that she will be a stay at home mom either because her husband is well-off, or that a woman's place is in the house. Will you get angry at the 'waste' of resources on her behalf or would you simply say, "It's her life, my spouse and I have fulfilled our duties in making her a literate?"

I'd like to know your viewpoints on this subject.
PoliticsRe: Kwame Nkrumah, Was His Ambition To Unite Africa A Selfish One? by Ndipe(op): 12:08am On Nov 29, 2011
Read in a magazine that prior to his overthrow, school children used to chant songs about the Osagyefo extolling him as one incapable of making mistakes. But if Africa were in unity, ol'boy, we would be an economic powerhouse in the world. Think of oil from Nigeria, cocoa from Ivory Coast, diamonds and other minerals from other African countries. Why cant we set aside our differences and monopolize our natural resources instead of relying on handouts from the west?
EducationRe: Nigerian Schools' Disciplinary System; How Effective Is It? by Ndipe(m): 2:13am On Nov 28, 2011
For those who advocate corporal punishment, how can you explain this?

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-759256.32.html

Secondly, as someone pointed out earlier, if corporal punishment is more effective in Nigeria as opposed to what is prevalent in the USA, why is our society so disorganized and thrives on mediocrity and corruption unlike the USA that doesnt condone punishment for the most part in schools? there are effective ways to punish a child, but trashing them with bundles of sticks till they bleed because they did not do their homework is certainly barbaric.
EducationRe: Pupil Sues Teacher For N500m For Blindness In Left Eye by Ndipe(m): 2:09am On Nov 28, 2011
That is why I am against excessive corporal punishment. If you want to punish a child, either use a ruler on their buttocks or assign them a portion of grass to cut. Haba, the excuses people use in beating up students is way out of line.
Christianity EtcRe: There Is No Salvation By Faith Without Works--femi Aribisala by Ndipe(m): 12:23am On Nov 24, 2011
Eben 2:
Now, salvation by faith! hmn… let me start by giving you the testimony of how I got saved.

On that wonderful and unforgettable day – December 5 of a certain year, the Lord met and saved my condemned soul! Before that day, I was a terrible sinner though I was born and breed up in a Christian family, go to church regularly, pay my offering and sometimes my tithes. I have a very beautiful wife at home but I had chains of girlfriend all around, a terrible liar; I was filthy in every sense of it! Most times when we closed from church service on Sunday, I dropped off my family at home and went out fornicating. I was going about with loads of sin and guilt and had no one to help me. I was constantly hearing the word of God but it did not mix with faith in my heart.

A day before this wondrous day, December 5, I had just met two new girls and I made arrangement with each of them against the next day. So, there was I on the pew waiting for the pastor to finish whatever he had to say so I could have my way with my new catches. Suddenly (I don’t know how) through the middle of the message, the word crept into my heart and I saw how filthy and helpless I was; my heart of stone was made soft and I cried for mercy. I went on my knees there and then earnestly asked for forgiveness and I was saved! By the time I stood up from my knees, my heart was full of Joy, I felt light! The load of sin and guilt was lifted off my neck and I was set free! And what work did I do? Nothing! I heard the word and I trusted (believe/have faith) in the word and I was saved!
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works. Lest any man should boast” (Eph 2: 8 – 9) Do you pay for gifts? No! for if you pay for a gift; it is no longer a gift. If our work can save us then the sacrifice of Christ on the cross will not be necessary. “… and without shedding of blood is no remission” Heb 9:22.
Praise the Lord, Hallelujah!!!

Big salute to these women. My mum once was like them. Most of them go through all these so their children can be better people. If you want success in life, treat your mother well.
My broda, I agree with you. I remember seeing the sacrifices my late mother did for me and my siblings. And she performed them at ease. While I am sad that she is no longer around, I try to dwell on the positives that I was able to take care of her when I moved to the USA and that when she visited me, I was doing well. It gives me joy especially when I reflect on it.

I saw a caption on Drum Magazine back in the 80's or 90's inquiring if Queen Victoria had an adopted black daughter. I looked up the information about this girl on google and one article says she was infact the adopted daughter of Queen Victoria. Interesting.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Does God Allow His Children To Suffer? Let's Share by Ndipe(m): 12:21am On Nov 11, 2011
God2man:
The historical setting took place in the land of Uz,located in the area of Edom. South of the dead sea extending to the region of the northern Arabia. Job is not an israelite, but depicted in the story to be a foreingner. The third son of Issachar. He was married to a wife who bore him seven sons and three daughters. He was a very wealthy man, although his wealth is measured in terms of livestock rather than gold and silver. Inspite of his riches and wealth, he was a righteous man, faithful to God and careful not to do anything evil. His wealth is valued at $970,000:00.                             The suffering of Job which is the central point of discuss came as a result of satan's accusations. He questioned Job's motive and decency and traced it to his abundant blessings from God. In other for God to prove his righteousness, God gave satan the power to test Job.
I think he was an Israelite. Read this futuristic comment he made:

"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me."—Job 19:25-27.

kabasa77:
If you want to Join the witnesses, its totally your call but i will like point out some of their doctrines to you

Firstly, they do not Believe in the Divinity of Jesus saying that He is one of the Chief angels, that he was created by God thereby rejecting HIM as God,Secondly they also do not believe in the Trinity, thats God the Father,The Son and The Holy Ghost
Also the reject the whole concept of heaven and hell.

And also that the Holy Spirit is not a person but an 'active force' which is pure blasphemy, God forgive them

Lastly they believe that heaven is meant for only 144000 people, meaning we are all damed grin

And that the world came to an end in 1914,

But one thing i do admire about them is the Brotherly love they share apart from that they just dont entice me

If you want to join any church, please do join the Seventh Day adventist, am not a member oo but their Doctrine is sound and you can google more about the Witnesses, and decide
Thank you
Another belief JW hold onto is that Jesus Christ did not resurrect physically from the grave. So that's a major no no.

As for Seventh day adventist, they worship on Saturday because of their belief that God created the Sabbath day to be a day of rest not sunday. However, I would discourage you from joining them because Colosians 2:16 says "So don't let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths."

EducationAt 16, She Has Won More Academic Awards Than Her Years by Ndipe(op): 12:07am On Nov 02, 2011
If you are ever looking for the closest example of a whizkid in any Nigerian school today, Gloria Chioma Ezeizu fits the bill perfectly. At 16, she has received dozens of awards for academic excellence that her peers can only envy but not quite match her.

Chioma

As JSS I student of St. Francis Secondary School, Idimu, Lagos, she made the best results, coming off with eleven awards. A year later in JSS 2, Chioma increased her tally of awards by one. By the time she got to JSS 3, she had established an unbeatable record among her peers and in the entire school such that nobody has ever come any close. She had all Alphas in the 13 subjects she sat for in junior NECO, and they include core science subjects like Mathematics and liberal courses like History. Chioma also topped the class in languages like English, French . . .

Christianity EtcRe: Why Have Jews Been Persecuted So Much Throughout History? by Ndipe(m): 10:02pm On Oct 28, 2011
Great question, I have also wondered the same injustices towards Jews from time immemorial. I admire their resilience despite the trials and tribulations they have gone through.

But another personal question, why are blacks the most despited and relegated race on the face of the earth? We are treated even worse than Jews globally.

I dont blame Nigerian men who decide to marry black Americans/Whites. In that way, they escape the demands of tradition.
FamilyRe: Bride Price In Nigeria Fixed Or Nagotiation Based On Training Given To The Bride by Ndipe(m): 1:38am On Oct 25, 2011
It should be a token set by the groom himself. In that way, he will be fulfilling his traditional responsibilities as a provider without necessarily going into bankruptcy to fulfill tradition. Besides the girl will maintain her dignity because the man wont say he bought her over to his house with money.
