justwise: A bit of tip....Look for school with lesser school fees, affordable city and go for Jan admission.
Jan starts have longer visa duration and holiday, so you will have 2 summer holidays while Sept starts have one and shorter visa duration.
Look for schools with such time table...it will be outlined on their websites Thanks this insight |

claremont: I know a guy way back in 2009 who enrolled on a 1 year course in London. He only paid a deposit for his tuition from Nigeria and had the intention to work to pay off the balance. He worked legally and illegally in London, and paid off the balance of the fees. However, he ended up failing the course and also failed the resits as he had no time and energy to study. He has been living illegally in London since 2011 when his visa expired.
It's much better to pay all the tuition fees upfront, and then work to pay accommodation and bills. It still wouldn't be easy and your final grade would get hammered, but at least, you don't stand a risk of getting kicked out of your course and your visa being curtailed. Thanks alot. I really appreciate all the responses |

I moved with my family, the plan was to finish and apply for the PSW but my Husband got sponsored by the Telcoms company he was working for, he is a Specialist Engineer. My take is, do not deviate from the purpose. Duly noted. Thanks |

justwise: Nothing is impossible but it’s impossible for you to pull that off.
You have only 4months of summer holiday to work full time, to hit your target you to be taking home at least £2800 net monthly for that 4months then when you are back to school you return to 20hrs which may take care of your rent , bills and feeding. Thanks Justwise |

LagosismyHome: The biggest problem is that legally you can only work 20hours a week term time and 40 hours holiday time....... that 20hours will just about get you rent and living expenses. To gather rent, living expenses then full tuition from 20hours is extremely difficult
If you go ahead and work more than 20hours then it possible to gather more but you will be robbing Peter to pay Paul because later during visa renewal your NI can flag up and it becomes a major problem so choose your battles wisely. Life after been a student is just as important as student days True true. Thanks for your input. Duly noted |

AirBay: Chief, if you're coming with a dependant, yes it's possible.
If you're single, don't try it, unless you want to break the visa rules. You can work to pay your house rent and feeding. If you have a back up in 9ja, you can go ahead.
Speaking from personal experience. Wow. This is noted too. Thanks |

Chreze: This is one topic I notice people are always careful to talk about and I think it is because it causes lot of arguments. Justwsie didn’t give up when he was called different names in one of the 2019 debate.
As a brother I will say, it is not going to be easy. But very possible. Nothing is impossible in life again. Also I think a 3year program may not be as choked as a 1year program, so maybe there will be time to work and still give attention to your studies.
Question for you to ask yourself are:
1. How good are you in the area you are studying. If you have good knowledge then classes and projects won’t take you time to complete. But if it’s a new area or an area you are not so good at, it will be very difficult and possibly depressing.
2. How much is the fees in questions. If the fees are much, then you will have to work more hours. Remember have just 20hrs a week term time and possibly be placed under minimum wage (or even lesss).
3. How good are you in multitasking? Some people are not nice in groups, some will frustrate you with their over-sabi, while some won’t fail to report to the lecture that your contribution is not adequate. Can you keep up with both requirements?
I think there are more questions others will add.
In all, it’s all about your drive and what you want in life. Like I said nothing is impossible anymore on earth. Not even with short vacation trip to other planets by Elon and Jeff. Thank you soooooo much for this. I haven't thought of this from this angle ☺️. Would wait to hear from others but in the meantime, i'l brood over this. Thanks again |

donogaga: Teesside University has really messed up big time.
A lot of students were not issued CAS and they are supposed to resume this January. Crazy experience for a lot of applicants.
Please, kindly do your "due deligence" before applying for admission.
Don't just think because perhaps the tuition fee is cheap and again it's a two year program then you fine. It doesn't work that way often.
When it comes to issuance of CAS, some schools are just terrible. I really feel for those that are affected my the inability of Teesside to issue CAS at this present time, even after paying Tuition deposit and meeting all the requirement. How sad. Will they be refunded fully? |

Mine was a group interview and it wasn’t hard. Remember to be natural and project you’re a caring person that posses all the C’s of a nurse.
Best of luck to you dear Hi Nalai, Please how do you intend to cope with paying tuition for 3 years? That's my fear or did you claim the RPL? |

Hi gurus in the house,
Please I have observed that 95% of students who apply to study any form of Nursing in the UK also apply for Social Work.....including me.
Right now, I'm in a dilenma and I've been soul searching and trying to gather information on the internet to be able to make an informed decision. A lot of people don't really talk about Social Work prospects in the UK compared to Nursing which even a child knows about
So I'm posting so students who are ALREADY STUDYING Nursing or Social Works and also those who have graduated and are now NURSES and SOCIAL WORKERS can please through more light on things like...
Their experiences while studying Their friend's experience studying the other course Job prospects especially Tier 2 sponsorship because that is also why we're spending the little we have to pursue a masters abroad If you had to redo it, would you choose the same course? General advice?
I know I'm not the only one on this soul searching journey.
Yes on surface level, it's tempting to say choosse Nursing but remember that lots of people have gotten fraustrated along the line and are cooling off in jail or have lost their pin because of a costly mistake that could have been avoided years ago. It's not always about the money. Youtube is filled with people who drop out midway or switch so it would be nice to hear from people here which is the beauty of Nairaland. Personal undiluted experience
So what do you do when you have a passion for both?
Hoping to read from you all. BIg thanks
