Drienzia:There were some irregularities, but the consensus is that it wouldn't have changed the results. He's arguing that the relatively small irregularities warrant a scrap of the elections. |
dee02:The Gambian embassy IS Gambian soil. I understand your sentiment though... |
momentum85:No it doesn't. Africans have tried to negotiate his departure peacefully, and now are going to force him to accept his loss at the polls. This is actually a proud moment for Africa as we internally deal with our issues. |
rokiatu:But most times these days the smoke is started by people who want to cause trouble or increase blog traffic |
Daniyomex:We are celebrating the local production of something we import. Na small by small. It doesn't have to be high-tech, but it is a high-demand commodity. |
DaFlash:Sharply. Scoped and noted... |
Even if you earn in dollars, by the time you start buying goods and services, you'll find that everything has gone up, comensurate with the exchange rate. Because, fundamentally, we are a dollar-based economy: that shoe, generator, watch, laptop, tv, rice, fuel, phone, etc you want to buy was obtained with dollars. |
dukie25:But the court could not sit, was my understanding. So he needs to retry when they can sit. Ironically, this would not have happened if he had spent his years developing the judiciary. If he had declared winner, and the aspirant was the one protesting, I could see how he could remain in office until the courts decide. However, he was not declared winner, and so much allow the aspirant to step in, then wait until the courts decide. |
dukie25:Ironically, and contrary to what you say, Buhari obeyed the rule of law by going to the courts. IF the courts could not sit, oh well. Buhari was not a president that lost the vote, then insisted on staying in power. There's a crucial difference. Jammeh is free to step down, then challenge the results in the courts when next they are in session, if he truly believes he is in the right. But forget all that... 8 years is enough for anybody. He has overstayed by decades.... |
redcliff:Nnamdi Kanu is a seditious secessionist, and (until he successfully creates the country he wants and becomes a "founding father" , he will be treated as such.Jahmmeh is a sit-tight president whose mandate has ended. He too is being treated as such. Where is the "dirty hands" you speak of? Just because we have not solved all the problems in our land, does not mean we should sit down and watch another African country tear itself to pieces. This is a message being sent to all Africans, for the good of our future: the era of sit-tight dictators is drawing to a close. It's a process, but these are the building blocks of a prosperous continent, 50 years hence. |
Ekii:In human experiences, what makes the most impact is not what somebody did, but how they made you feel. I think the carefree manner of asking reflects his true opinion of her. If you really value somebody, you'll make the effort. She is having regrets, but I don't think her action was wrong. Marriage should be for life, and any issues will just get magnified later on. |
Guys in the house no vex, but the guy fuckup sha. To ask a lady to marry you, you do the traditional things (yes, kneeling and all that). It's a special experience for somebody you love that she will retell for the rest of her life (to friends, especially rivals, mother, relatives, children). To "propose" in such a carefree manner is suggestive that you don't take her seriously or value her that much. You want the women in your family to disrespect your wife? Because they will treat her the same way you treat her. Even if it's just for show, do it. Then at least you won't have to hear about how you didn't propose properly every time there's an argument. This is called planning ahead and reducing unnecessary noise bandwidth. So now the guy is forming hurt pride and wants to "teach her a lesson". Is that how you deal with people you love? But for all we know, maybe the guy is planning something special, and our girl needs to be patient. Till when, I don't know, but... |
Don't do it. You already stepped into frying pan by dating a colleague. Now you want to entire fire and marry. Otherwise, you will never be at peace... supervised at home and at work by the same person. Seems she understands this much more than you. One of you must transfer out, and I think that someborry is you. |
Seenyo:So that millions more will die abi? |
So who would have inherited the car, if he abandoned it? Let me go and post on 3rd mainland bridge for the next jumper... I'm just sayin ![]() |
TheABOMINATION:Erm... you think Adenuga or Odetola will let you go if you're owing them 1 naira? Or Warren Buffet or Bill Gates will give up 1 Dollar? If they do with you, then it's a slippery slope because others will want the same leniency. Try making a call or buying fuel, or software for less than the agreed price. The rich are _very_ scrupulous about people owing them. Why should he let her slide? Kiibati, you see your life? Now the world knows you no dey pay person. Who will borrow you money now? |
Amelian:Who husband epp? If you can collect 1mil from different men, who cares how they are indoors. With that kin money, she can collect whatever she needs from young men anytime. For all we know, she might even have a real husband, chilling somewhere out of the picture. |
odysey:By who? His police boys? Abi you will help pay mobilization fees so they can buy fuel. The police (who did not see the cause of the argument), only saw somebody block traffic, reach into a car and seize keys. If you involve police, you will drop something... Even two people fighting jeje, not causing anybody else any trouble, police will step in and carry both to jail. Why? So they can get their money. |
Preferential treatment ke? Certainly not because they are oyinbo oh. We have preferential treatment in this country, based on the size of your agbada, the shine on your shoes, and the carats on your fingers. If one big oga's wife jam my car, and I go and involve police... na me go suffa am. Instead I will just come down and beg the woman jeje... no be common bash? The Okada wey scratch paint on one side, and the car wey bash my back left bumper the other day, did I involve police? Not at all... there were a few "oloshi" shouted (and the car that bashed me from behind even abused my father, since nobody wants to be wrong), but we all kept going. So those who are offended by the "slave mentality", sorry... there's is no slave mentality here, only pocket mentality and Naija driving drama. You know that if you meet police, whether it's your fault or not, you will drop something. Bail, as we all know, is free. Since DPO cannot touch these alleged diplomats, he must extract his fee from the Nigerian. Now, to be serious: the person in the wrong (in the eye of the police, who did not see the original incident) is clearly our Nigerian guy. Why? In response to a fender bender, he does the following: - he drives recklessly - obstructs traffic in a manner so as to cause an accident - then proceeds to reach into the car, put on the hand brake and seize their keys. Does that not look like a kidnap attempt, in this day and age? Is that not assault? So the Polish guys did a hit-and-run... and these guys then did a carjack, which looked a bit like aggravated assault. A judge would actually rule against our guys because the Polish could use "self-defense" as an argument. Afterall, would you not be afraid for your life if somebody came chasing you and blocked your way (forget that you caused it)? |
WTF? First Adama Barrow died, then his son. What next, "Barrow's father was never born" I'm inclined to think this news is also fake* *But RIP if true. |
While I agree that we should pay more attention to farming, it's rather disingenuous for him to tell people after they've studied for 4-6 years, paid school fees, that their entire effort was wasted. Are we going to have a nation of farmers, without any skilled labor (no doctors, scientists, economists, etc). They guy should use half of his salary as governor, to help secure loans for these graduates... |
Well, he can do 1 of three things: Accept the job. Try to find means to get to work cheaply. Spend wisely and keep looking. But the salary cheap sha. 2. Start a business. Akara seller can make more than 40k if you're serious 3. Go to village and start farming. Cost of living is low, plus you will always have customers. All of the above is better than wasting your days earning 0k while you're waiting for your dream job. |
Kentura:So what's your definition of fine? Must she look like only one type of beauty? And if she is fun, bubbly, and also serious (like thoughtful), then she's a winner. |
yinkslinks:So soon I will spend my entire day to queue for gas, then from there to kerosine queue, then on to petrol queue, before finally queuing to buy rice and salt, and what again? And it's not like any of these things are decreasing in price. Nonsense govt |
sanandreas:And when I was warning people not to vote for him they were abusing me. I lived through the queues of '83 under hot sun, and could not believe it when people ushered in the same guy again. The only person in Nigeria's history to lead us into recession twice! Contrast Obasanjo who led us through 3 regimes (once as military, and two terms elected) of growth. I just pray we have learned our lesson so we don't get taken for fools again in 2019 |
Tiwa looks much better if you ask me. |
What sorrowful wickedness. May God grant her perfect peace. Innocent soul |
bukolaSaraki:This one, rather than making me full of pride, make me laugh... Deploy with what? When your ogas are diverting funds (but maybe not anymore sha) Good luck |
DICKtator:I'm trying to apply for a job. They tell me the requirements, I tell them they are being unreasonable. If it was me, and I really have been writing, I would have a few documents I could copy and paste on hand. Just need to update the date or something. The oyinbo guy just says what is on all their minds, just they hide it under a veneer of decency. But the nasty leaks out when slightly prodded. The apology is really to his bosses, so they can all save face... not sincere. |
wayray:By becoming a country that makes things, gives real value to the world (apart from raw materials), keeps its citizens gainfully employed, and votes for reasonable leaders. |
matrixme:You can't ask him to donate them, because it's a decision his sister and mother would need to make on their own, as adults, if they wanted to. |
First of all, is this true? I don't want to read later today that it was not. With all the flippity floppity news we see nowadays. Secondly, even if detestable, he did not break the law. In other words, (I think) there is no law against his behaviour that empowers law enforcement to arrest him for (not) breaking the law. Two adult women agreed to be paraded in chains. Two ladies wearing masks. For fashion/entertainment/shock value. How is this different from two guys holding a masquerade in chains? Forget what you think about morality - are you the sole arbiter of what is right? Mr cheat on 5 girlfriends at once, or Ms bleep 5 guys for money to buy phone (but I no dey do runs oh!). I'm also talking you mr. beat your children to injury. Or is this our usual brand of selective and hypocritical morality? The kind where senators and police enjoy the company of runs girls yet prosecute them? We Nigerians do so much worse that we have a lot to clean up in our lives before claiming moral police. If we need a law made against it, legislature should do so. Then their action is valid. Otherwise this is just a slippery slope where you can be arrested because the governor or somebody else in power can cause you to be arrested arbitrarily. Of course most of you will agree he should be arrested, until something similar happens to you or a loved one. |
